Stalbridge Fish Bar in North Dorset

I brought a battered sausage and it was burnt and horrible what a waste of £2.40 It’s that bad it’s going straight in the bottom n that place should not be open selling food like that.

Good friendly service chips cooked fresh fish slightly over cooked but edible an improvement on my last takeaway from here

Visited the chippy, the first time in months. Well worth the wait, and fish and chips tasted lovely. Safety checks in place - one customer in the shop and one out. Served from behind a screen. It works well and the queue goes down fast. Enjoy!

Brilliant fish and chips, lovely service and good value. I wouldn't order from any other local fish and chips.

With the current price of fish, and that fish is this shops bread and butter, sadly this fish and chip shop grossly over cooked the cod to the point I had no idea what fish this resembled. Chips were nicely cut and cooked. I have since tried the fish again, and again badly over cooked.

After a busy day couldn't be bothered to cook so decided upon fish and chips cod was delicious chips not up to usual standard some were cooked some still a little raw plenty of them so just had to be a little picky and not eat them such a shame

Steve's fish and chips are superb and we have a meal from here at least once a week. Living locally we have been customers here for over 10 years. Portions are generous and food is always well prepared with efficient service. Open lunchtimes too if you are passing although closed on a Monday night. Friday and Saturday nights are very popular and you may have to queue around the corner to the next road so time it well when it is not raining! Excellent - keep doing what you do Steve!

The best chippy in a minimum of a 10 mile radius. I visit this chippy randomly, but approximately 6 times a month. There is often a queue, especially on Friday & Saturday evenings, but it's definitely worth the wait. The service is always efficient, polite and friendly.

Great little fish and chop shop. Staff always pleased to see you and very friendly. Excellent value for money and very tasty food. 👍

You'd have to travel a bloody long way to find anything that beats this fish and chip shop, I've never found anywhere as good. The staff are AMAZING and the food is always incredible and amazing prices. I would fly from anywhere to have this and it's always the first thing I have when I come home from uni and the thing I miss when I'm there.

This is the best fish and chip shop for miles and their customer service is second to none, nothing is to much trouble and you are always acknowledged. It's a tiny shop and it does get extremely busy but everything is cooked fresh for you and I mean everything and the staff all work together as a team it's amazing to watch. I came across this shop accidentally and was so glad I did, it is heaps better then the fish and chip shop down the road at Sturminster Newton and not a soggy chip in site. Whatever you ask for they have, every flavour pie, savaloy, fish, chicken you name it. You have got to try the chicken nuggets that are huge and all chicken breast not minded up flattened disks. This shop gets a 10/10 everytime.

Great fish, not too greasy. All freshly cooked and tasty chips. Beware though the cue on a Friday gets long quickly.

I have often bought Fish & Chips here and have always enjoyed it. Usually less greasy than some outlets and very pleasant and helpfull staff.

I hate Greasy Fish, only a couple of times have i had a problem here with greasy fish, chips are loverly and crisp

As others have said 'best fish and chips for miles' and I totally agree. The proprietor always has a cheerful smile to greet his customers. This place is a treasureand no other can match it. When buying fish and chips in other towns It is always disappointing. I have been thoroughly spoilt to live within traveling distance for these yummy chips!

This small outlet, in the middle of Stalbridge, often has customers queuing down the street, and that says a lot about their product.Intriguingly, it is run, or was the last time I was there, not by local people, but by people you would normally associate with a Chinese takeaway, but I think they have imported some of the latter's business principles!Portions are of such size that, for two, you are advised to order only one portion of chips, and we have never had anything but freshly prepared food from here.Good value.

Lived in this town for 45 years. This fish and chip shop is superb. The present owners always smiling, nothing is too much trouble for them. It's the best take away fish and chips for miles. I visit about 3 times a month and the food is always good. Served by helpful staff with generous portions .Get there early on Friday evenings as queues will be outside the front door and round the corner. This speaks for itself. It's worth the wait. Prices not the cheapest but more than made up for by choices available.

I come here regularly with my family to get takeaway fish and chips. They are out of this world - easily some of the best I have ever tasted. I have never had a bad meal from the Fish Bar. The staff and owners are fantastic. The queue stretching around the block on a Friday night are testament to the high quality of the food here.

We've moved houses a lot in the last 11 years but will travel any distance for our tea from here. Never gone wrong exceptional quality terrific portion size. 20 out of 10!!!

Stalbrdge is the best fish and chips in the area. Sherborne chip shops are rubbish, milborne port fish and chip shop is rubbish and probably the worst I have ever had. The fish tastes nearly off, they reheat the chips and charge a bomb for it don't bother with them. The only other goog fish and chips in the area are wincanton and palmers in yeovil.

Steve and his family have run this chippy for years. The staff are welcoming and friendly and the food is superb - well cooked and plenty of it. Good value for money. Open at lunchtimes as well as dinner time which is worth knowing. Located in the main high street where the street goes into the giveway spot opposite the charity shop.You will not be disappointed.

Small but provides all that you need in a chippy. Proper counter, friendly staff, and good fish and chips at a very reasonable price.
