I had a lovely meal at this hidden gem which had been recommended by friends. The portion sizes were more than adequate! Home made burger & chips. Luscious Eton mess.

The team are friendly and attentive. The food isn't presented to any amazing level but it's so well cooked. My sautéed cod was delicious. It's a lovely interior too. Another little gem.

Good pub food, well priced. Used to go to this pub 50 years ago and it’s nearly as good again now as it was then. Took my 10 year old grandson and he was treated like an adult, which was nice! Had the rib eye steak, but we will be going back to try other things on the menu. 👍

We moved into local area september 2023 and visited the Plough today for the first time today. The food was lovely and very reasonably priced as were drinks. Staff very nice and dog friendly. We would have visited the plough sooner but it does lack some kerb appeal but dont let this put you off you will be pleasantly surprised.

Went for lunch on a Saturday, lovely place with countryside views and lovely gardens to sit outside in the summer. The food was excellent and service good too, would highly recommend and will definitely go again. I've been back and still impressed with the Plough.

I have not been to this pub for many years. After seeing it advertised in a local paper I looked up the menu and liked what I saw. I have now had lunch with my wife there and we were very impressed. It is an old interesting pub (look at the ceiling in the bar) it is cosy, comfortable and pleasantly decorated. The dining room at the back of the pub is very pleasant with far reaching views over the garden. The welcome was warm and friendly, the beer well kept. The menu is varied and caters for most tastes. There was also an addition to the menu of a Jamaican dish. We could not fault the food, it is probably the best meal I have had for some time. As for cost, in most places I know you would have to add another third to the bill. Well worth a visit.

My wife and I enjoyed the best pub meal we have had in years and was excellent value for money. We both had Jamaican Jerk chicken with rice and potato salad and we couldn't get over how good it was, all this sitting by a roaring log fire. The pub itself has recently been refurbished but still contains it's original features. The landlord and the waiter were both extremely pleasant and the service is what we would expect in years gone by. The only reason that I gave atmosphere 4/5 was I expected the pub to be full of customers on a Friday evening and it was fairly quiet when we were there. Definitely a pub where we will frequent especially sitting out in the summer evenings.

We were a party of 7, and booked because we were taking my son out for a meal for his 10th birthday . My wife and sister had the duck special , I had burger, my dad had mixed grill and kids had sausage and chips. Everyone very happy with their food and we were sat by the fire in a cosy corner. Really liked the ambient lighting and Peter and staff looked after us with drinks and food. The beer (copper) was really great - beer is clearly well looked after - my dad i and got through 6 pints! Toilets were good standard. Basically we had a lovely evening and I’m looking forward to visiting again. James

Excellent local pub in the small village of Manston. We popped in for lunch and are so glad that we did. The hosts were brilliant and very welcoming, allowing for our dog and baby. The food was excellent, especially the Jerk Chicken (a special on at the time). Dog friendly pub, with treats on offer of your dog isn't a fussy git like ours.

Reserved a table for Sunday lunch, 10/12. Lovely quite corner of pub. Traditional pub with cosy log burner. Waiting staff brilliant and patient. Food was delicious, the brie cranberry and mushroom wellington was gorgeous. Terry's chocolate orange cheese cake was a winner. Thank you so much.

Only a few other diners in when we visited, I opted for a mixed grill, portion size and presentation not great, but what there was of it tasted good if rather over cooked. Apple crumble was excellent, as was waiter service, but the process of tallying up bills is begging for improvement. We'll try them again in the future.

I dined with yourselves yesterday for a Sunday "roast". I made it clear I had a dairy, pork and egg allergy. The only meat option was pork, so I kindly asked what else I could have. I had called the week before to ensure that I would be able to dine there and they reassured me I could when I booked our table. The waitress offered me a steak, which I happily accepted. Well, once the roast arrived I wish I had chosen something different. It had 2 veg on it, 3 potatoes and a steak. Possibly one of the dullest roast dinners i have ever seen. Whilst reviewing the menu for a dessert, I noticed that the menu stated "vegetarian" for 2 items, i am still unsure how prawn cocktail and whitebait is vegetarian? I addressed it with the manager and she shrugged her shoulders. To add salt to the wound, we got the bill and the owner had added on an extra £2 for my steak. Now I understand steak is more expensive, but considering you had no other meat option for me and YOU offered me the steak (without the mention of an extra charge), I was disappointed to see i was charged for this. Considering I had called a week before to inform you of my allergies and you assured me it would be fine for me to eat at your establishment. £18 for a roast with 4 items on is disgusting and when I questioned it your response was "you wanted steak and its more expensive". I would also like to add that you offered me a brie Wellington, which also has dairy in! Do you even know what is in your food? As someone who has allergies, I would strongly recommend you educate yourselves on service, allergies & and the severity of a reaction! I certainly won't be returning.

I haven't been to the Plough for a few years, and it sort-of dropped off my radar due to being closed for refurbishment. I went in for dinner on Saturday evening and had a really lovely meal. The refurbishments inside make the place very welcoming, staff were friendly and helpful and the food was really good. I will definitely be returning! Well-worth a visit if you're looking for a really pleasant night out.

Lovely pub! Came for lunch in a group of seven people and 2 dogs, the owners couldn't have been more welcoming. Pub is very cosy and we got a table right next to the wood burner which was perfect. Great food and they made a delicious dish which wasn't on the menu for a vegetarian - it was something we'd never tried before and they also gave us tips for making it ourselves (Jamaican ackee). The desserts were great, especially the Biscoff cheesecake!! We were also there until after they had technically closed but they didn't rush us which was appreciated. Will definitely be back! Thank you!

I brought a battered sausage and it was burnt and horrible what a waste of £2.40 It’s that bad it’s going straight in the bottom n that place should not be open selling food like that.

Soup was awful, tasteless, not even a trace of leek and potato as described. Waste of money , dreadful. It was hot flour and water , like bechamel sauce only thinner.

This is purely a complaint on delivery. Not eaten the food yet. Driver put my food on floor and walked off before I got to door. From him ringing to me answering was no more than 25 seconds. Don’t ever do that again!!

So very sad to hear that Massimos has closed. We have spent many happy times there, with lovely food. We are left with our memories, and offer our good wishes to all the family in any future endeavours. Tim and Janet.

We popped in today as our usual cafe was closed! I can see now why we don't visit the black cactus. This isn't the first time, but the two members of staff, who weren't busy dealing with lots of customers, weren't the most friendliest unfortunately. I completely understand they were writing the memo board and sorting that out, but I don't understand why they cheerfully couldn't have explained they would be with us in a minute. There were no happy faces etc. Then the flap Jack's we had weren't the best, but you win some and lose some. When it came to leaving, it was like we weren't even there. No goodbye, thanks for coming, nothing, and to reiterate, they were not busy serving customers. I'm sure many people have had great service there, but unfortunately we have not. So we won't be returning.... Shame!
