Fresh and clean place to stay. Staff were freindly, helpful and always on hand . Nothing was to much trouble for them. Always smiling. We would definitely stay there again We had a great time.

Excellent food and very friendly efficient staff service. Half way between us in Bolton and our daughters family in Kendal so ideal place to meet up. We will certainly go again

Stayed here as a last minute reservation extending out stay. We stayed in room 21 which was basic but clean. The shower was powerful and warm. The staff were all very helpful and the breakfast which was included was very nice. You could hear the music from the nightclub but this did not affect our stay.

Stayed here many years ago in my youth and was pleased to see it hadn't changed much. Typical lakeland hotel steeped in history, muddy boots welcome, huge ancient log fire and fireplace in the bar. Great breakfast, friendly staff and when the days walking and sightseeing is done it was nice to see a well frequented pub with a good pint. Will definitely be going back.

Shocking place, the beer selection was rubbish the 1st night we went in, then night after told no dogs when live music Is on, yet there was clearly a dog the building. Think it was just discrimination against non locals. No worries our money will spend else where

Avoid if you can. No parking on site, at busy times you might end up walking 15/20 minutes from nearest available parking. Staff was rude and unprofessional. Room was overall ok, but the duvet cover was ripped. Very noisy surroundings with pub and club downstairs and a commotion between guests and security outside our bedroom door at 2:35am. Only saving grace was a decent breakfast. One of the worse stays of my life, I wish I could get some money back.

A place I’d happy avoid in the future. There are so many nice bars and pubs in the area and this one doesn’t stand up to any of them. Went in with a group for drinks and a game of pool, firstly the place was in poor condition, pool tables had rips in etc, seating was a bit of a mess. We managed to have one drink in this place because we couldn’t get served after this, after 30 mins standing at the bar and everyone else being served first and actually begging to be served we were told he had to sort his mates first (that had just walked in), at this point we give up because they are obviously so amazing they don’t need our money. Take yourself anywhere else because they are only interested in looking after their friends and a few regulars.

I booked this room with no big expectations as I was fully aware it was a room above a pub. Booked the Windermere Suite on a Sunday night for £130. However, all I really did expect was the room to be warm, clean with a decent hot shower. After walking on the fells all day in pretty poor conditions we were looking forward to getting in the room. Check in was easy, at the bar and finally found the room up the stairs. I was so disappointed when we entered the room as it was freezing! No heating on in February. The radiators were turned off. So I decided to warm up with a shower, there is no pressure at all and it just dripped out from the massive rain shower head. The room was large and was very clean with a comfy bed, but the freezing room and poor shower spoilt it. We had a Sunday roast, very poor, tiny portions and tasteless. The breakfast was average, cereal, juice and full cooked breakfast. Sadly, the lady who who was in charge of breakfast nearly turned the milk sour with her face and miserable attitude. The final straw was when she knocked on our door at exactly 11am(check out time) to ask if we were leaving. The price maybe really cheap for Bowness but the whole experience was a lot worse than it needed to be. Wouldn’t stay again

Hotel is in a good location very central to Bowness Pier for Windermere lake cruises and close to the town with a good selection of bars, restaurants and pubs. Windermere station is about a mile away. The room was quite small and although it has recently been repainted and had a new shower the hotel felt very chintzy like the UK in the 80s or American hotels now. £130 a night seemed steep for such a small basic room but expect the price is for the area and the staycation effect increasing demand for UK holidays with the covid restrictions this year. That said there were no issues. The room was clean. The pub downstairs offered a discount for hotel guests. Staff were friendly and although the reviews said it could be noisy from the pub below we didn’t hear too much noise, more loud selfish drunk guests returning to rooms then music downstairs. Breakfast is included and is pretty good. The Wi-fi is pretty hit and miss which isn’t great as mobile signal isn’t great in the lakes.

From the doorman to the service staff and the manager this was top notch. Went above and beyond to assist us in torrential weather and sorted our taxi home after a few well earned beers. Sophie was fantastic as were all the staff, not sure why so many negative reviews our experience was brilliant. 5 stars will be back

It's a shame that Ally of Warrington has incorrectly chosen the pub instead of the hotel with her one circle review. I wouldn't chose to stay at the hotel but the pub suits us just fine. The reviews of the hotel are inferior to the restaurant. Last game of the season and we're in The Lakes.....so where to watch the match, only one place, The Stags Head. I thought it might be busy so popped in early to see if I could reserve a table. Sign on the door said full however a young lady made enquiries and there was a table available. Two hours before kick off but with a great view of the TV and the weather outside bleak, we were happy. The ladies providing table service were fantastic. Always on the go, there was a till in our section; back and to they went, really efficient and so hard working. And it made up for the 7:2 loss last time, we won 2 nil. Happy days.

Bank holiday weekend, bowness has been heaving. Spent Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon here. The staff have been exceptional, cannot fault the service even when really busy. And the gent on the door, extremely helpful to us and many others. COVID rules followed to a T, felt very safe. Will be back next year.

Terrible, there were not really any staff present to approach with our issues. The pub was closed at night when guests were clearly smoking drugs in their rooms and playing really loud music they were stinking out the corridor to our room, no staff to tell no one there, the Friday when we arrived we were told we could check in at 3 then we arrived back to be told by a different woman a stern woman (came across as slightly rude) not until 4.30pm do we went to The Albert pub in town which is much nicer and had a drink there to kill the hour n a half as the pub was just rough. The room was awful smelly carpet mould on the bathroom wall and just nondescript white & scruffy...The whole website is a misinterpretation completely of the hotel,, the regular customers seemed to get priority over hotel guests ..well this was the impression we got. It cost us £275 for 3 nights ..we checked out a day early and paid £100 to a hotel up the road that was just better quality. I feel incredibly conned & unhappy, no-one was even around to talk to or complain and the impression it gave me was that if you did you'd probably get some attitude or verbal or worse !!! I'd never return...it left me feeling really upset that what was meant to be a special few days was just not .......far from it , also the first day there i asked for help (with my case upstairs) as my partner has had spinal surgery the bloke refused he said I'm not insured to help you......On reflection I should of bolted then because as it went nobody gave a toss about us as paying customers either way..............So we left

On holiday, staying in Windermere and looking for a pub showing the match on SKY. So many TV's here and although Security at the door seemed to think it was touch and go if our table was in sight of a TV, he was well wide of the mark. Young lady took us to a table up the stairs with both big screen and TV screen, perfect. Plenty of room, only downside was the shouty Leeds fan on a nearby table, his poor girlfriend honestly. Fantastic service, always someone ready to take our order, friendly too. Okay so we got beat 7:2 but in life you have to take the rough with the smooth and we had an enjoyable time.

Really liked this pub which is enormous inside and lots of tv screens for the footie. The table service was very quick and it is obvious they take Covid precautions seriously. Definitely worth visiting

The Stags Head is doing a good job in providing good food and drink during Covid. We had a choice of a few bitters, an a dozen or so meals in a safe environment. The food was tasty, even if the atmosphere was a little strange.

Tuve un gran almuerzo en este pub. En realidad, este fue nuestro tercer lugar de elección para comer. Me alegro de haberlo hecho. Había algunas mesas afuera pero decidimos comer adentro. No hay problema con nuestros hijos de 9 y 7 años. Tuvimos un control de temperatura en el camino, nos aconsejaron sobre las reglas de distanciamiento social y nos llevaron a una mesa (todos estaban separados por pantallas de vinilo) El servicio fue excelente; educado, cortés e informativo. A pesar de ser la primera vez que salimos a comer desde el encierro, nos sentimos muy cómodos.La comida era básica, pero excelente. Tuve una enorme salchicha de Cumberland con puré y verduras, mi esposa tenía eglefino y patatas fritas y los niños una lasaña de verduras y pescado y patatas fritas. No era lujoso, pero no recuerdo haber disfrutado tanto de una comida de pub en los últimos tiempos. Definitivamente iría de nuevo.

Reservamos una estancia de una noche con poca antelación y, para nuestro presupuesto, teníamos la opción de Monties o Stags Head, nosotros (¿lamentablemente?) Optamos por Monties.Pasamos un buen día en Bowness con los viajes en barco desde los muelles a 2/3 minutos a pie, y los autobuses descubiertos hacia Ambleside, etc. Asimismo, hay mucho que hacer. Después de un viaje en barco de 45 minutos, vimos Stags Head y, por curiosidad, almorzamos allí, nos sentamos al sol en la calle peatonal, era encantador. Una papa al horno para mí y mi esposo tenía un sándwich de queso y pepinillos.Más tarde en la noche, volvimos a Stags Head, y nuevamente se tomaron las temperaturas y los números de contacto de Covid (a pesar de haber sido tomados cuando visitamos más temprano en el día).Aunque es igual de céntrico, es mucho más tranquilo por la noche.Eso en mente, y las críticas leídas, ojalá hubiéramos optado por quedarnos en The Stags Head en lugar de los mucho más ruidosos Monties.

Great selection of different beers and spirits, Sky Sports on TV prices reasonable for a Town Centre pub. Staff all observing social distancing rules and wearing PPE even took our temperature on arrival. Plastic screens between tables we felt very safe

We booked our visit a fortnight before travelling with Booking.com, we searched for the hotel using the usual filters to secure what we wanted. Firstly it said it was £79 per room and when the final bill came a day before arriving it went up to £95,beware, we dont think it said anything about taxes before we booked but cant prove it now, Secondly, as a chosen filter we required Parking, got that it says but when we arrived the manager swiftly pointed out a further drop down menu to show that there was parking close, just glad we were fit and able to walk the 300 metres to the car park and pay a further £8.50 for the privilege, well, afterall it is the Lake District so you should expect a bit of Hiking lol...Hotel was lovely, room was lovely, staff were lovely and the food and drink great. That's what we wanted, not the unwanted and avoidable extras we got at the start. Be careful what you search folks.

un pub un poco fuera de lugar con el resto de Bowness pero está bien para un almuerzo barato. La señora del bar fue amable y servicial. La comida era pobre a bastante buena y eso estaba en mi plato. Tuve un pastel de queso carbonizado con hermosas papas fritas y buenos guisantes, además de una taza de té para tres. Podría ser mejor con un poco más de atención al detalle.

Me alojé aquí con mi pareja para las festividades de año nuevo. Llegamos a la calle 31 de diciembre y salimos el 4 de enero. El hotel es viejo y es la parte superior de un pub. Sin embargo, está limpio. La habitación estaba limpia y el baño estaba muy bien equipado con todo lo necesario. No hay una recepción como tal, es un pequeño armario con todo lo que se trata en el bar.Pagar por adelantado siempre hace sonar las alarmas, pero no fue un problema.Sin embargo, tuvimos un gran problema con el ruido. Esto se espera de un pub, pero principalmente del personal después de dejar de fumar afuera y hablar sobre sus vidas privadas, etc. Les tomó tres días obtener un recibo ya que no pudieron encontrar a nadie para hacerlo.Cuando limpiaron la habitación, no reemplazaron las toallas y dejaron la puerta abierta todo el día. Hablé con el gerente sobre mis preocupaciones y dijo que hablaría con el propietario. La comida era deliciosa en el desayuno. Realmente no podía ser criticado. Desafortunadamente, el personal estaba menos que feliz. Era una sensación ominosa con mujeres afiladas y ágiles que tomaban las órdenes del desayuno. A 95 por noche, es muy caro incluso por su ubicación.Aconsejaría alojarse en otro lugar simplemente porque la atención al cliente no existe y todavía estoy esperando los comentarios de mi queja.Como no me preguntaron si mi estadía fue satisfactoria, responderé aquí, ¡NO! y si el personal se hubiera preocupado, podría haber sido mucho mejor.Valoraría la tarifa en 75 por noche para la habitación 10. Un poco más si se dirige al personal.

Visité con un grupo de 8, excelente hotel de principio a fin, nuestra habitación era realmente tranquila teniendo en cuenta que este hotel tiene una discoteca en el sótano, uno de nosotros tenía una habitación ruidosa debido a que tenía un piso bajo en la parte delantera (la nuestra estaba en el trasero) con gente yendo y viniendo. Fantástico entretenimiento todo el fin de semana en el hotel. Excelente personal, comida y muy limpio lo recomendaría encarecidamente. Este es nuestro hotel número uno para nuestrovisitas futuras NOTA: HEMOS ESTADO ANTERIORMENTE EN LA ANTIGUA INGLATERRA, LA ASHLEY DE LAURA, EL BURNSIDE Y EL PUEBLO DE MARINA.

We always pop into the Stags Head when we visit Bowness as its really nice and cosy when the log burner is on. The bar staff are friendly and bar is well stocked with a wide range of drinks. The pub also has Sky sports with many TV screens dotted around the place along with a couple of pool tables. On certain nights there is also Live Entertainment which really has the pub bouncing. We have also stayed here over night, the room was clean but a little cramped how ever the breakfast was excellent. All in all a great pub and well worth a visit.

We usually call in when staying over. Prices are good and always plenty of room inside. This time the sun wasn’t out as before as nice to sit outside. Didn’t eat but the food looked very nice. See you next time.

El único lugar que encontramos para ver el fútbol en nuestra visita a los lagos, fuimos temprano para conseguir un buen lugar, fuimos a pedir comida en el bar solo para que nos dijeran que no estaban sirviendo ninguno y que no podían pagar las bebidas con tarjeta a menos que eran 10 o más, así que fue muy decepcionante salir y comer y luego regresar para el partido, afortunadamente, era temprano.

Spent 2 nights here and room was lovely and clean with a nice big bed, staff very friendly and good entertainment at night, breakfast in first morning was excellent well cooked and well presented, breakfast on second morning was very poor over cooked eggs half cooked bacon and poor presentation, Besides that had a lovely weekend just need a bit of consistency on breakfasts

This really isn't a hotel,it is rooms over a pub.My room was comfortable and clean,nice bathroom and lovely towels etc but it all needs updating.The staff are all lovely and very friendly and helpful.Bteakfast is served in the bar and is very nice.No evening meals served in the Stags head but plenty of cafes and takeaways nearby.

This is a classic pub-hotel in an amazing location. There is a good pub in the basement, and decent breakfast included. We were on the third floor, and never was able to get internet. A fast internet connection would have made our stay a lot better, as we schedule hotels, transportation, etc., through the internet when we travel. Because of the poor internet reception we had to do a lot of business in pubs and restaurants and public places.

Room small but clean and tidy . Shower very small . Tea bags need a week to colour up. They say a waiter or waitress can make it good. Well waitress at breakfast was awful. Rude with no manners. She rushed you and not a smile. Could say more about her . And raw sausage on first day . All other staff where helpfull

Nos alojamos aquí como un grupo de cuatro, mi madre y mi hermano en una habitación doble y mi esposo y yo en una habitación doble separada.

Visité aquí para cenar dos días en trote, así que a pesar del único aspecto negativo fue bueno.

Habíamos pasado la mañana caminando y el paseo marítimo estaba tan ocupado y ventoso. Caminamos y nos sentamos afuera de la Cabeza de Ciervo. Tuvimos un par de pintas de buena calidad aquí. El jardín de la cerveza era una trampa para el sol en comparación con cualquier otro lugar que habíamos visitado, sin viento tampoco. Un buen lugar para visitar fuera de la calle principal con algunos bares al lado.

El personal era realmente amable y el proceso de registro fue sencillo. La habitación del hotel era anticuada pero limpia y todo estaba en orden. Sin embargo, nuestra habitación de hotel no cerraba. Bajé al pub para informarle al personal sobre la puerta antes de salir dejando nuestras posesiones adentro y lo dije en voz muy baja para que no todos los pub supieran que mis posesiones estaban dentro de una habitación sin llave. Entonces decidió decir en voz alta "¿no se bloquea? ". . . Genial, así que ahora cualquier ladrón potencial en tiro al oído está al tanto. La puerta no estaba arreglada, por lo que nos arriesgamos a que fueran llevados en cualquier momento. El pub tiene un club nocturno en el sótano y la gente del pub se derrama en las calles, lo que hace que la noche sea muy ruidosa. Recomendaría instalar ventanas de doble acristalamiento o insonorización.

Even though our visit was on a week night it was still very busy. Late bar, TVs and pool table. Something for everybody. It's a traditional pub with original style decor of wooden beams. Staff were friendly and we were made to feel welcome.

So good to find a pub which is busy even full, perhaps it was just because it was a friday night or that the live football was on. There was live music too, so they know how to attract people.

Hola, después de recuperarme de una operación de rodilla, esto es justo lo que mi esposa y yo necesitábamos. Reservamos una noche y terminamos quedándonos dos. Al llegar, el gerente preguntó si nos gustaría una actualización gratuita a una suite que mi esposa aprovechó la oportunidad. La habitación era estupenda, acogedora y con mucho espacio con una cama con dosel. Había un sofá de 2 plazas y un sofá que era muy cómodo junto con el té y el café. Si solo eres un Joe promedio como yo, te encantará escucharlo, está bien, podría hacerlo con un poco de pintura aquí y allá, pero no importó. No me puedo quejar, no escuches las malas críticas. Esto es muy central, así que si no puedes caminar muy lejos, es ideal. El personal fue muy amable.

Called in for a few drinks, its a friendly pub that dogs can visit too. Plenty of TVS and seating. Good prices and plenty of choice. Didn't try the food but looks popular with how busy it was

Este es un antiguo pub de moda con mesas y sillas de madera, aparecemos después de pasear por la ciudad, se podía ver el fútbol que se había visto. Cuando se le preguntó si había alguna comida para cocinar, solo se le dijo sándwich o papas fritas, el café estaba bien si quería una mesa tranquila. Espero que el propietario consiga un chef pronto.

Me and my wife called in for a drink with idea being to maybe eat aswell. It was about 5pm when we arrived and it was quite empty so we got a table. After our first drink we were peckish but I was quite surprised when I went to the bar and they said they only did food till the mid afternoon.This was a proper oldy pub with a seperate area with TVs for all the sports so I would recommend this pub if its just a drink and to watch the football

We spent the morning walking the area and popped in here for coffee. Let me say, we came back an hour later for more. GREAT people working here; the bar is great and the coffee excellent. LOVED being here; sad we never dined.

Had fish chips mushy peas bread and butter and a pot of tes for two on the lunchtime special menu the haddock was very nice and was big enough for lunchtime a nice clean old worldly pub.

I stopped here for a few beers whilst local the staff were alright and the bar was clean and well presented this bar is located close to the lake very convenient for the cruise boats and town centre

Attended the ‘pub’ part of this hotel to watch the World cup semi final. Arrived at 2.45pm to be told, rather abruptly that food wasn’t served after 2.30. We also asked if the tv in one of the bars was going to be switched on but was told no. We then sat in another part of the pub only to find that the tv was being switched on so we had to move. At no point did the waitress extend a welcome, in fact she was positively hostile and rude.

i ordered a prawn salad, i did not expect what i got, frozen grapes and a frozen strawberry which turned to mush when defrosted, a load a beetroot, about 4 tablespoons of piccalilli, not a lot of salad

Watched live tv sport during the day. Enjoyed live music on Saturday night. James was fabulous#keep music live :-)

This badly managed pub is best avoided, I have found on occasion the manager to be particularly rude.

Stopped here for a few drinks on the way back from the lake. Sat outside by the church wall, the weather was fabulous.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Fantastic location to start with! The room was clean and tidy, fresh towels daily. The breakfast was great and all the staff were lovely. We had lunch here too and there were no complaints. Would definitely stay again.

Stopped off here for a couple of drinks to cool down whilst exploring Bowness. Luckily got a table outside which was great in the sun. Could have quite happily sat there all day. Will be back again soon.

my partner went to the shops, i was worn out walking but managed the brew up to the stags head,, had a lovely cool pint much needed, its an old inn walls about three feet thick or more the bar was spotlessly clean and each time a customer left their table was cleaned and mats replace, i recommend this

We had drinks here on 17th May 2018. The premises are well away from the main tourist areas in an attractive village location.

Having Booked The Hotel in October 2017. We stayed from 11th-13th May 2018 for a special Birthday for My Mother. We were a Family group of 14 People, Myself & All of our Party could not fault one single thing about the Hotel. The staff were extremely friendly & very helpful even a Local guy helped me source a wheel chair for one of our Family. The Food was excellent & the Breakfast in the Morning is one of the best I have had at a Hotel. I recommend the full English. A Big thank You to All the Staff at the Stags Head. It was a real pleasure Staying.

came for weekend Friday night was lovely locals in very friendly really enjoyable and welcoming...we like pubs not modernised yuppy pubs trying to be something there not..it was a delightful treat.However Saturday afternoon when like ourselves full of tourists lost a bit of its ambience {busy }..

On first impression, this is a lovely pub. The real fire was a real warm welcome on a cold wintery day, and the welcome from the staff was also warm. A traditional pub menu was on offer, no frills, nothing fancy, but that's what we wanted. We opted for the deals; I had the fish, chips and peas, and the other half went for the pudding chips and gravy, both served with a cup of tea and bread and butter. Service was prompt and friendly. However the food was a little disappointing. The fish portion was tiny; more like a child's or pensioners portion. The pudding looked a substantial size, yet my husband said the pastry was dry, though the filling tasty. So far so average. Then there's nothing like a good brew to wash down fish and chips, and what was served was nothing like a good brew! I think the milk had turned as it was full of floaters. A very disappointing end! We soon left. It's a shame as there are so many other lovely eateries in the town and we felt a bit let down

Stayed in the Bowness Suite the room was really spacious and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was delicious especially the sausages it was very filling and presented lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful and drinks were reasonably priced in the bar and was open until 1am which was a bowness.

Only called in with 6 others for lunchtime drinks. Felt we were an inconvenience the bar staff could have done without. Not friendly, not interested, impatient, not worth a visit.

This place may be outdated but fantastic staff, breakfast and location. Clean and comfortable room with free access to spa facilities next door at the McDonald hotel also. Stayed for a very good price on New Years Eve, lovely atmosphere in Bowness and fireworks just a short walk to the jetty from the hotel. Night club in basement of hotel and although very busy the noise did not disrupt us at all once in the room.

If you normally drink at the Ritz you will be disappointed. If you are regular people who want a few...

We called in for a drink Saturday evening and decided to return the following day for lunch with our two children. The food was lovely, good portion sizes and value for money. If your looking for a good pub lunch then give this a try

Stayed again at this unique B & B, idyllic settings, outside of a breathe taking church. friendly staff, rooms have tea coffee facility, en-suite a good size, clean fresh towels, TV, Wi-Fi, also you get 10% off bar meals when staying here, free admission in to night club below. although they is a nightclub below you cannot hear the music in your rooms. Breakfast is unbelievable, excellent choice of Continental, or Full English but can tailor you personnel needs, not a problem. family and pets also allowed to stay. car park can be a problem if you are unable to walk far. We got parked about 800 meters away from the B & B, they are no lifts to the rooms so not wheelchair friendly. A short walk to the edge of Lake Windermere, Beatrix Potter all over in the town. be prepared for a lot of tourist walking around. plenty of quality bars for entertainment and food.

I called in to the Stag for a pint on my travels during a recent visit to Bowness. What a major disappointment, the place is in need of refurbishment, the atmosphere was cold and I found the bar staff to be rude and more interested in smoking cigarettes outside.

We stayed for 2 nights in march. The room was dated but very clean and had everything needed. It was en suite and the bathroom was also very clean. There was very little noise from the pub or club and it didn't disturb us at all. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but for the price paid I can't complain. The included breakfast was very good. Yes there was only a choice of 2 cereals but the cooked breakfast was excellent. Good quality and well cooked. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We would stay again.

So bad we didn't even end up staying!! I understand that this is a lively place but our room was situated above the pub door so we heard it open and shut all the time. The smokers gathered outside our window and we head every word of their conversations. To have paid £90 for this is a disgrace!! We left before the nightclub opened as the entrance to this was below our room too. The room itself was nothing like the pictures online it was dated and didn't even have a proper shower just a mixer tap and a shower head to hold yourself!!! Never again !

We went to the stags head to have a drink and while we were there we had a lovely meal the staff were all very. Pleasant so we went again the day after for a drink

The pictures shown of the bedrooms are a little misleading especially the bathrooms.......it was like going back to my early 20's when we couldn't afford a decent room. £90 per night.....never again.

Came here for a few drinks and to watch the football. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Warm place to get out of the cold wet weather. Good choice of beer and cider.

Tired of waiting or just tired do it on face lift The pastor seem more interested in each other than serving customers perhaps they've just been too busy

This hotel is in need of a huge amount of refurbishment. Bed very uncomfortable toilet/shower cubicle was tiny. Lot of noise from fan system at hotel next door. Breakfast was very average cereal choice was cornflakes or rice crispies. Would not return to this hotel

Fantastic staff, good food at a reasonable price we go back all the time we have being going here for over 30 years and the welcome we always get is fantastic.

We had a twin room on the second floor no. 19, It is quite tiny but I suppose it served a purpose. The room was a bit tired but the bathroom was clean and considering the size of the room spacious. As stated when ordering drinks and food show your room key for a 10% discount. The bar staff were not that enthusiastic but the waiting on staff at breakfast were fine. We had a chance to have a look inside a suite whilst the room staff were cleaning, it is very nice. Not sure what the problem was for breakfast on our first morning but the bacon was microwaved, the rest was at best edible. But for the price we paid for two nights we agreed it was just OK.

This is the first pub we went into on arriving in Bowness and the manager was welcoming but when he asked the barman to serve us the barman made the comment of "you talking to me" and looked in disgust that he had to serve us which is rude especially in front of a customer and it's about you too. The beer wasn't great either.

Stumbled across the Stags Head when staying in Bowness recently. Its just a bog standard pub, large, with pool table and multiple TV's with the football on. A few cask beers to help you enjoy the football.Once inside, you could be in any town or city anywhere in the UK really.

Rooms are clean, modern, spacious & comfortable.If you show your room key you get 10% off food which is good home cooked food, menu basic but there's something for everyone - you also get 10% off drinks.The entertainment on the night was brilliant & crawling upstairs to bed after we'd been evicted from the nightclub at closing time was a definite bonus (no waiting round for taxis to take us home).B&B about half an hour walk from the train station.The security staff were all brilliant too!

Called into the Stags Head just for the Sky ....watched the football and had a few drinks. Prices as you would expect them to be in a tourist area, slightly higher than at home but otherwise no real issues with the place. Staff were friendly and smiley enough

Popped in here for lunch after a couple of hours on the road. The food sounded great from the menu - proper pub grub - but it wasn't great to eat. The lasagne was completely dried up and the pasta bake was caked in parmesan which was overpowering. The chips were very nice and drinks were good, just a shame about the food. Staff were lovely too.

Dogs not allowed in after 7pm but they were going to let us stay until 9pm to get one drink out of us. I think not! Considering the pub is in one of the most popular tourist locations in the Lakes they've got losing custom down to a tee. Back to the Old John Peel we go!

We had a great stay at the Stags Head, our room was clean and very spacious the, staff on arrival were very attentive and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The Stags Head was in an excellent position for exploring with plenty of restaurants and bars. Excellent weekend

Went for lunch today....foul...thrown together. My wife commented the same, independently of myself and, without any input from myself.

The bar at the Stags Head was i great night out, Karaoke night was busy, great atmosphere,friendly people and staff 10/10

Excellent location,right in the heart of the town.However the twin room was very disappointing.It was small with the bare minimum in terms of furnishings.No bedside lights which meant that I couldn't read without disturbing my friend.The bathroom door went shut got jammed which would have been very frightening for a young child or someone frail.Breakfast was mediocre ,the cereal.selection was either rice crispness or cornflakes and then there was cooked breakfast options.The waitress that served us did remind us of Basil Fawlty !

We had two meals at the stags head 1st we picked off the menu and it was lovely 2nd was Sunday dinner wouldn't recommend that at all. The staff are lovely and its dog friendly.

Stopped off here at the end of the Dales Way for a celebratory lunchtime pint. Nice bar area and good for people watching.

７月１４～１５日に２泊しました。部屋は女二人でダブルベッドであまり広くはありませんでしたが、同時にスーツケースを開く事は出来ました。もちろんエレベーターはなく、防火扉が多いので荷物が多いと運ぶのが大変です。シャワーの出は悪くはないのですが、初日に私が入った時にはぬるま湯しか出ず夏といえど寒くて仕方なかったです。でも同室の人も他の部屋に泊まった友人も熱いお湯が出たというので運が悪かったのでしょう。。。翌日は熱いお湯がちゃんと出ました。土曜の夜に１階のバーでライブがあるので深夜まで騒がしいので眠りの浅い方はお気を付けください。朝食はイングリッシュブレックファストです。（チョイスすることもできます）しかもとてもおいしい♪おしゃべり大好きな女性２人が色々親切にしてくれました(笑)ウィンダミア駅からはバスで１５分程度かかりますが、ウィンダミア湖に近く、周りにたくさんのショップ、素敵なレストラン、スーパーがあり何一つ不便を感じませんでした。朝食付きで１人８０００円ほどだったので、昼間出かける人には十分なホテルです。

This bar is very friendly, and has some great live music on, Fridays and Saturdays,well worth a visit, good beer, good music, great atmosphere.

Stopped for a couple a drink ones night (very reasonable prices considering location in the middle of Bowness). Came back for lunch a couple of days after. Had a tuna & cheese melt baguette & was lovely. Cannot fault, good food for reasonable money. Thanks

We went in a couple of nights. I love to find bars that offer something different for a change. The wife and I had a game of pool with friends and a couple of lagers.

Went here following a search for good food at a reasonable price.Sunday lunch £8.95 or thereabouts .Staff were very friendly meal was excellent ,gravy to die for well worth the money now weve found it will be back for more.Went next door to the Old England Hotel the day before paid £25.00 for two sandwiches a bit of limp salad and what appeared to be a bag of crisps between us.No comparison to this place makes you wonder which should have 5 stars.Menu also includes Double burger and chips at half thew priice of the Village in which is opposite so gald we crossed the road and found The Stags Head.

Had chilli burger which I expected to have jalepenos or something spicy on. Nothing of the sort just a mild sauce. The burgers were OK. Came with chips that were the size of door stops now I know some of you may like this but when I looked around at my friends and others meals and no one was eating the chips... Change the chips!! Nonetheless good atmosphere and a good pint!!!
