This restaurant exceeded all of my expectations, from the moment I walked in to the last bite of my meal! I have a nut allergy and can often feel anxious dining out, but the staff here really went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. The chef in the kitchen, tall fella, I think his name is Sean (sorry if this is wrong) was an absolute gem. He personally came out to talk to me about the menu and how the dishes were prepared, ensuring everything was safe for me to enjoy. His attention to detail and willingness to answer all of my questions put my mind at ease, and I really appreciated how seriously he took my concerns. The waitresses were incredibly sweet, always checking in to make sure I had everything I needed without being overbearing. The bar staff was equally friendly, with a great sense of humor that made the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. It’s rare to find a place where the entire team is so attentive and kind, and it really stood out. The restaurant itself was spotless and beautifully maintained, which added to the pleasant atmosphere. And the food? Absolutely fantastic! Every dish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. You can tell the chefs here take pride in what they do. It was hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for top-notch food, a clean environment, and exceptional service! xx

Booked (at the last minute) for 30 people family get together (surprise birthday) on 29 Sept. All the meals from the Sunday roast menu. If I could give 0 stars, I would! I've been coming here for years, absolutely loved it, until today... this was meant to be a lovely birthday meal. Well it was far from it! Placed the order, no problems. And then it just went belly up! First off, the wrong drink arrived. OK that can happen, mistakes happen. But I must stress, it wasn't even that busy... so then the food arrived. This is where the fun begins... I asked for certain items to be removed. It arrived with all the items on that I asked to be removed! Ok, maybe it wa san error.... Asked for a well done steak, it was medium, sent it back. Only to watch it be sent back and see the chefs actually laugh and take the p*ss because I said it was not well done. It was pink in the middle and blood coming out of it when trying to cut it! It comes back, still not well done. This is no longer a mistake, this is just absolutely lack of concentration, disgusting attitudes from the chefs and now just becoming a joke! My partner asked for a medium steak, it turned up rare, that rare he struggled to cut it, with a STEAK KNIFE! The chips were absolutely rock hard, like they've been sat under the hot lamp for hours on end. Not seasoned, just plain hard spud! My partner flipped over his mushroom to find an entire egg shell cooked into his mushroom!!!! We had ordered another drink during all of this, those never even arrived. What was meant to be a lovely birthday meal turned out to be an absolute horror show. As two people who have worked in hospitality in the past, this was far from the standards that you would expect from such an established restaurant. Really disappointed, shocked and gutted as we will no longer be returning. I can't fault the server, she was amazing. She comped my partners meal, due to the egg shell alone. But honestly absolutely shocking turn of events. I'd avoid, it's gone down hill rather quickly in there now. Which is a shame, as I've been coming here since I was a child, and the food has always been amazing. Really disappointed, and really upset.

Coeliac Review - Breakfast (stayed at Premier Inn next door). Can't praise this place enough. Wish I had got the name of the lovely staff member (female, Mon am) who, from the very first moment we walked in, welcomed us and made us feel right at home. We were asked if any of us had any allergies (coeliac) and were immediately given the allergens guide. I was able to have toast!! My fellow coeliacs will know how much of a novelty this is. It's toasted separately too! I also had gluten free museli!?! A separate packet just for me!!! The lovely lady also asked if I wanted the kitchen to cook me a separate breakfast, so I didn't have to eat off the buffet bar. May seem like small things to some, but to a coeliac - this was amazing. I was in Liverpool for an MRI, the kindness this women showed me made me feel relaxed. Thank you xxx

Went on a family meal and it was good, ended up having the mixed grill and it was decent. The service was great and very friendly. Parking is tight up front but the shared car park with the premier inn helps, just remember to validate your parking.

I have been coming to the establishment for many years with no problems but on Friday 20th September 12:55 we entered the restaurant and a man onfront of house / Bar couldn't find our booking, he seemed as if he didn't know now to use the system. The restaurant was quite so he just sent us to a table, one of the lovely servers complained to him because he was only giveing her zone guests and that other servers are available. I had no problem with this but I felt this shown his incompetence now for a second time. After we order drinks my wife requested a gin and tonic this had every available piece of fruit imaginable, very large chunks of lemon lime orange strawberrys amongst others again from the same man we thought this was quite odd. As we are eating our meal what was fine we ordered more drinks but as he served my wife's gin he lifted the glass off the tray and the lost it's balance and the tonic fell from a hight on to the table covering the table and he announced I have just spilt that to himself then he replaced the tonic and made a poor attempt to dry the table left the table soggy with no apologies, my drink didn't arrive. I would of thought he would of removed the drink from the bill and atleast apologised.

Food was excellent 👍🏼, staff were very friendly and service was with a smile, definitely be coming back.

Really good solid meal from Beafeater. Busy Saturday but dealt with crowds well, not a long wait and tasty food.

Very disappointing visit for Sunday lunch. Waited 30 minutes for two meals which would have been ok but the quality of the meals was terrible. My ultimate roast was 3 potatoes that looked like they had been cut into already. The meat was mostly fat and was so bland that I could not tell the difference between the lamb and beef. The roast chicken wasn't available so was substituted for a chicken breast, again so bland and I was given two stems of broccoli without heads browning at the end. The server did discount the meal after I mentioned the disappointment but this is never what I look for, a genuine attempt to solve the issue would have been welcome. As the check back wasn't until the end of the meal, not much more coughs have been done. The unlimited soft drink refills is also a con if the server isn't touching your table to ask if you want such. Such a pity as the location is good and the restaurant has lots of space. Clearly a " out of the freezer, into oven" concept but at least season the food during the process and check the quality before serving.

First time here for breakfast, and it was brilliant. There were lots of choices available, and the food was hot and freshly prepared. Will be returning.

Great location on Liverpool’s ring road - Queen’s Drive. There was a little wait on arrival. REGISTERED my car . The seater guy was grumpy and said we can staying there for only one hour 🤷🏻‍♂️ Never heard such a nonsense, but okay. The lady who took the orders was really nice, friendly and helpful. We ordered 2 full rack of pork ribs with chips, corn on the cob, bbq sauce and coleslaw. Pork ribs were really tasty! Chips was hot and tasty. Corn could be better if they just roll on the grill for a second and buttered. Otherwise it was only cooked - still tasty 😅 Coleslaw wasn’t perfect. Tiny portion, tasted like some veggies much together with a cheapest mayo. I might wrong! Altogether the food was brilliant (short waiting table service). The bank payments gone wrong their machine stopped working. They asked after tea how we want to pay… by card. Liam wasn’t kind or helpful. Stressful, no smile or anything, even though I told him this is not his fault and I’m happy to do any other solutions. At the end he recorded my bank details and that was all. About an hour later I got the receipt from my bank. Atmosphere only got 4 stars, because I had to put my hacked in the disabled toilet. NO COAT HOOK! Not all the disabilities has wheelchair. I have colorectal cancer. A hook costs about £2.. Overall I was satisfied with the restaurant and staff. Definitely visiting back soon!

Lucy the Manager was very helpful and kind. I have sensory issues and to start with was seated in a noise area but when she noticed that I was struggling she moved me to a quiter area. When ordering my food they were also very accommodating with the changes that I need to make with what I ordered. Nothing was an issue for them, I tried to tip Lucy but she wouldn't accept it. Very pleasant experience over all.

Ordered a steak sampler which had 3 4oz steaks on, asked for well done, 1 came spot on but the other 2 was absolutely raw in the middle to the point blood came out. Sent it back, they said they would replace the meal. I ended up getting back the same plate with same steaks on that was now charcoal black, the peas were no longer on the plate and the fries had been in microwave to reheat and was soggy. Manager in fairness refunded my money but the level of cooking and service oringinally was horrendous. Drinks are good and is a lovely clean pub, shame about the food.

Had the all you can eat buffet and later on treated myself to a nice rib eye steak, beautifully cooked and seasoned, went down very well.

Lovely staff, great service and food most definitely go back again

I went with my partner. We were really hungry so would have been happy with most things but this was really poor. We ordered the "potato dippers" which were just an overpriced extra small portion of overcooked dry chips with a tiny amount of cheese and some tomato sauce in the middle. We both ordered the hunters chicken but my partner got the vegan version. For some reason on the vegan version they changed everything... Including chips? Unsure why. But the vegan chicken piece was about the size of half a boiled egg. The food also took so long when it was quiet that we wanted dessert but didn't order it because we didn't want to wait so long for it to arrive like the food did. The staff were decent but overall, if I was to compare it to something, you get better quality at a Wetherspoons, and youd also pay less at a Wetherspoons too.

Really nice food the only thing there wasn’t enough chips on the plate but other than that food was lovely 👌

Really enjoyed our meal last week. Me and my partner both got the 3 steak and sides dish. Steak were perfect and tasty. Also my 18 month old had the kids 3 courses, which was great value. A bonus to this is his starter came out first (garlic bread) which he wolfed down, so he didn't get too grumpy waiting for our mains. It was quite busy, a sunny Sunday evening, and the staff were rushed off their feet but our server was brilliant and couldnt have done more thank you Robyn.

When you go for breakfast and order soft drinks {pepsi/coke} they don't tell you it's a bottomless glass The tablet to register car registration is next to the welcome desk if you blink you can miss it

Pretty disappointed. Just had a meal in here, portion sizes have shrunk. We waited over 30 minutes to get our bill, waiting on staff walked passed us a few times. Then I saw the staff standing around talking by the kitchen, when we asked a supervisor/manager for the bill, I said "if staff have time to stand and talk they have time to clean" and the reply was "they're having a pre shift handover". If that was the case, have at least one waiting on staff attending the floor while that goes on. Just looked very unprofessional. Toilets were untidy, and needed a check over. Overall, a very meh experience.

Would not rush back anytime soon. The food was okay but certainly does not justify the prices. For example, £23 for a half rack of ribs and half a chicken breast, the breast which was over cooked and the ribs came with their sauce on the side, which meant that they very much were knocking on the door of being over done too. The fries were supposed to be seasoned in some capacity according to the menu too, but that didn't happen either, just plain French fries they were. Also, just recalled that we also ordered a side of "tenderstem broccoli", for £3.75, and got a grand total of 2 pieces of broccoli, mixed in with a load of other veg which honestly wasn't on the menu, I wanted broccoli, not a load of peppers and onions, so to pay that is a bit daft

Wouldn't reccomend for breakfast....no sausages raw bacon...cant be expected to pay £10.99 per person 🙄 sorry

Haven't visited for years but popped in today, staff were lovely but the food was grim and lots of menu stuff not available. Beef and ale pie was overdone dry and rock hard, chips were cold but got replaced when asked, gravy was like water. Wife had a smothered chicken breast, I thought we'd mistakenly ordered from the kids menu as it was that tiny. I recall this place being a proper treat but Wetherspoons would have beat it hands down. It must be soul destroying to have to serve such poor food to customers.

Food was lovely and service was excellent! We had more people turn up and needed a bigger table and straight away was assisted with are needs. Only fault is that outside the premises there were vermin running about, I'd seen that rat traps where put down, but it didnt stop them from scavenging leftovers by the picnic benches.. my mum ran to the taxi when it arrived... 🏃🏽

On arrival was seen by a member of your staff I believe her name was Sharon (small blonde with bun in hair) he attitude and arrogance was outrageous she showed us to our table and threw the menus on the table and stormed off..we had to ask another member of staff was this our table unfortunately we will not be returning 😡

A big thank you to the staff, we stayed in the premier inn next door and had breakfast for 4 mornings. Great food, friendly & help staff. Plus it was my daughter birthday & the staff gave her a box of chocolates. She was made up. Big thank you to the chef for making my Dads porridge every morning. It’s our 6th stay at the stag & rainbow, we will defo be back

Visited for breakfast on a Sunday. It was very busy and I'm glad we pre-booked a table. There was lots of choice of food and drinks. And all were good quality. I would recommend the breakfast menu.

Food very poor quality. Had pie, chips & peas. Chips supposed to be triple cooked - frozen chips, frozen peas and generic pie, not home cooked (not advertised as home cooked). Husband had pie, madh & peas. Mash probably Cadbury smash! I expect better for £13.99 per meal. Service was very good, though

Been going here , since it opened,way back. Certainly going down the pan. If you want a daytime menu , you've got to ask for one ,only main menu on the bar tables. This ,no doubt,helps to up the profit margin. Ordered smothered chicken and rump steak,egg and chips. Chicken was dry and got an 8oz sirloin ,no egg, which was off the main menu and not the daytime.The steak was 30% gristle. Waited so long for our coffees,that I went and collected them myself. Both were like warm . The young woman ,who took the order ,failed to swipe our points card and I was told ," just phone up and ask for your points ". You try it , you're hanging on for 40 odd minutes. Going over the road , to the Jolly Miller ,next time . Foods a lot better, staff a lot nicer and more professional.

We went for my birthday with friends and they ruined my party as rushed us from the arrival as they said they would close the doors by 9pm although that the website shows 10:30pm and we arrived at 7pm.

Can always rely on here for a decent steak cooked to taste. Staff are lovely and welcoming, decent deals in the daytime, make sure you look for them vs main menu and halve the cost.

we booked a table on yesterday evening for 8.30 we were 10 minutes late and when walked in we were told they were close at 9 i told her we had a booking and i was told that it was too late and kitchen staff has put everything away so we went to go and have a drink in the bar but we were told that was also closed and they always close at 9 on a sunday now not sure why they started to close at that time and also if they close at 9 how were we going to be eat in half an hour why dose it still let you book online till 9pm????

Not as good as other Beefeaters I've been too. Service was slow even though the place wasn't too busy. Was half way through my meal before I had to ask "how much longer for our drinks".

Average place but the thing that put me and my wife off was the fact we went in there at around 13.30 on a Friday afternoon with only no more than 10 other customers in but it took them 1 hr 20 minute's to clear plate's, cutlery and glasses away from the next table to us. Would hate to see it had it been busy.

Breakfast here is lovely... staff very good too . Promptly clear stuff away when customers have left .

The gammon and the burgers seemed like cheap cuts of meat on the 2 for 12.99 lunch option. The meat was quite thin. The burger had no salad garnish, just chips. The chips were fine

Had a nice meal here yesterday. Excellent service by server Lyndon. Steak cooked just as I like it, really enjoyed. Prices reasonable also. Would’ve preferred to be seated further away from large family group ( to give them space more than anything) as the place wasn’t full at this point. Also the music was a little loud. just wanted to have a coffee, 3 staff walking around , one looked like an extra from peeky blinders, started talking to a customer about his trip to the opticians and then asking whether he had tried coke with red wine???? all for having a chat with customers but not whilst people are stood waiting, not even an acknowledgement, very rude

Went for a meal with friends and 2 children. Awful meal, ribs where over cooked,chicken well done chips cold told the waitress who put the ribs onto another plate and took took the chips away only to return with warm chips once I had eaten the chicken. Very overpriced for awful food that we waited over 45 minutes for. I will never return and I live 5 mins away.

Lovely food Service was a little below standard. However, I would say the restaurant was busier than I expected for an early (4.30pm) booking, so I'm going to put it down to one of those days and don't let my experience on this day put you off.

Breakfast.. where do I start?? I was really surprised by this place. Finished work and fancied a brekky, found this place open early. Definitely worth going first thing, all the hot food was fresh and really tasty. I was impressed by the choice available in the continental. Pastries, crumpets, pancakes plus all your usual suspects! Service from the two girls on shift was spot on and the music playlist was quality, who doesn't love a bit Paolo Nutini in the morning! I'll be back.

This is one of my regular go to restaurants as they know how to cook good food. One of the only cheaper places to get a good steak in Liverpool cooked just right. There lasagna is also really tasty. The atmosphere is a mix as there is a bar and restaurant but it's mostly relaxed and not to noises. The service is usually great the older staff certainly keep a professional standard of service, especially Sharon and a few other veterans of the restaurant. New staff could take a leaf out of there book on table manners and what's polite etc. Majoritivly I've had very good experiences here there has been the odd blip when new staff have been less attentive or forgot things. I can say I've never had to send food back however which I have done at many pups and restaurants.

Love it here ..Been a few times with family and on my own with the kids... Great choice of food on the menu and very friendly staff who work hard to get the food out in good time..Really enjoyed our break away and would highly recommend this restaurant and premier inn on site..

Good food , I had lasagne which came with fresh salad and not a wilting lettuce leaf or dodgy looking tomato in sight. The lasagne was freshly baked and was delicious. Service was good . Husband had steak pie and fries that were equally tasty and clean plates were sent back. Would definitely recommend and I'm sure we will be back soon. Parking free ,make sure you pop your reg in as you go in. Easy accessibility for wheel chairs. Would recommend booking as can get busy.

I went to the stag and rainbow on Saturday December 30th for a family lunch. It was my first visit as my brother had booked it. We had a fantastic meal I had the mixed grill and my fiance had the half roast chicken. It was lovely. There was 11 of us all together and we all enjoyed our meals. Couldn't fault the staff we were well looked after from the moment we arrived. Even helping us register our cars. The food and service was fantastic.

Uitstekende bediening, goede uitleg wat je op je bord hebt liggen, alleen het inschenken van de wijn... naast het glas, hebben we ze maar vergeven. Extra saus, 99p, bij besteld, was geen verkeerde keus, pepersaus was standaard, maar hadden een chutney mango/perzik/chilli erbij genomen... heerlijk !

Had a Xmas meet with relatives, chose the Xmas menu, 4 meat eaters , one vegan. Chose 2 steak, 2 Xmas roasts and a vegan roast option, the vegan option arrived and looked anemic, no type of gravy so was very dry, the steaks were tough, lacking veg .we all had starters, vegan a cheese option and the pate, with both starters they arrived with 2 slivers of bread, is there a shortage of bread? Is it a high cost item? I would never eat there again. Service was fine but the food yuck!!!!

Christmas lunch was super. Food really well cooked and prepared. Organisation of a big party was fantastic and the patience of the staff was super, even when we all paid by card, cash. Highly recommend.

Told to wait an hour plus because i hadnt booked! Im staying in the Premier Inn next door but because ive got a meal deal they dont like it. Lots of empty tables, bar manager not pleasant......personally wouldnt reccomend guys and gals.

We've come up from the South West and I have to say the service here is outstanding. Massive thank you to Laura, who is by far one of the sweetest and most accommodating girl ever. We had a couple of drinks after a very long drive and she put the biggest smile on our faces as well as the fact she can make some top notch drinks and crack out a good joke.

Lovely breakfasts all you can eat. Hot and continental. Well worth a visit. Tea coffee Juices all in. Remember to put in your reg number as soon as you walk in the door, or you'll be charged a steep fine for parking! 😉😍

Staying in the Hotel next door so called in here for some thing to eat, waiting to be seated was exactly that a wait but it was not busy and only one family waiting in front of us, at first no body even acknowledge us standing there then it went to servers passing and saying some one will be with you, then a guy who looked like the manager appeared from the kitchen area and we got seated by him, he ttok our drinks order, short while later a server came over and introduced herself and asked did we want drinks, we explained we had ordered but they have not been brought over, she just said fine if you need amything just shout or wave, no mention if we were ready to order which we were. Eventually the drinks arrived and we said can we order, placed orders and food arrived pretty quick, we both had half a chicken so ended up with messy hands, I tried to get the servers attention for some more paper towels, she was busy talking to another server, tried waving but she was not paying attention and I am not into shouting so we waited and waited again, again the guy in the shirt appeared and the two servers split up and made it look like they were active, I caught her attention and asked for towels. We finished eating and she appeared to ask if we wanted sweets which we did order, Chocolate Browny is not Chocolate Browny even though we made a point of asking is it browny or chocolate cake, it is in fact chocolate cake being passed off as browny. After eating our sweets and finishing our drinks we played the waiting game again to get the bill, I could see our server plus 2 more down the room chatting round a corner, a couple in our section were also trying to pay there bill,they got up and went to a pay point but no one there, again the shirt guy appeared and so the servers took to the floor again, our server went to the paypoint to deal with the other couple so we got up and went over to pay, then another couple got up to pay and stood behind us. So three tables not cleared and all waiting to pay. It would appear this place has a problem with servers prefer to chat rather than serve there sections, they know where to stand so they can see the manager arrive on the floor. It is a shame as the food was not bad, the place was clean but service was lacking. NO tip from me on this visit and I usually tip servers as I know it is hard work when busy. Would I call again? Not likely only if i HAD NO OTHER OPTION. I think the problem is they feel it does not matter as most of there trade is passing trade from the Hotel, guests visiting the childrens hospital.

Attended today The Xmas festive dinner is awful turkey raw, frozen roast potatoes the nicest part was the gravy & pigs in blankets it’s a total waste of money. My advice go the Toby Carvery. The Service & staff was good but the food let it down sorry.
