An absolute dream compared to other airports. Parking is just outside the departures area, two minutes walk from the terminal. I have to use Disabled Assistance, just inside the main entrance, both really efficient and friendly. Security is also efficient and not at all grumpy (what a contrast with Manchester!). Cafes and retail are abundant, somewhere for everyone. I won't consider using any other airport if I have a choice.

I use Liverpool airport multiple times per year and overall it is a good experience, particularly departing which is generally better than arrivals. My only fault with departing is that the new body scanners are very slow and cause backlogs. The arrival experience tends to be good, until you get to passport control. There are no e-gates and often only a few passport officers working. It seems terribly inefficient not to have e-gates for arriving UK nationals, and this is significantly worse than any other UK airport. I’d now say Manchester and Liverpool airport are on par with each other, with a much better arrival experience at Manchester.

Liverpool Airport is always my favourite and I use the airport up 30 times per year. The new security machines are amazing, such a game changer not having to remove liquids, laptops etc… The new body scanners however, even on a quiet day, take much longer than the old ones did. Staff are now to busy just talking amongst each other and not paying attention to passenger that my experience was longer and more stressful than it was before the new systems. Seems such a waste of investment when the process isn’t actually quiet.

2 times I go through this airport and 2 times a bad experience... my flight arrives late, I spend 40 minutes at customs control and I arrive at my connection 3 minutes late, I am refused access and I am offered to go to sleep in Manchester and take another plane the next day... the queues are endless, there are not enough staff for the controls and no one wants to help you

The Airport is very small and limited. To get to the departure lounge you have to walk a lot and it really isn't that easy to use wheelchairs. Then also the boarding from the runway, another stretch to walk. Policy all liquids in plastic bags, if you don't bring it, they have vending machines.

Absolutely disgusting yesterday the weds 12th march ..I was travelling with my dad and other patients as was on patient transport from IOM to Liverpool... Journey back home was absolutely awful for some passengers as we didn't know anything until another person said they'd seen flight delayed on iom site however,we had no information or communication from the flight info in airport and were told that the cafe the kissing gate would be serving til the last flight leaves...This isn't the case as myself and some other passengers had asked numerous times if we can get a hot drink,lots of elderly folk hadn't had a warm drink since they left different hospital so four or so hours without is shocking ....We all thought that the folk from loganair or other providers who were still there at there desks at least would've offered us a flight voucher or got drinks for us all but was just dreadful...no care for patients or keeping us all updated ....I'm sorry to say but o do hope this isn't the case in 5 mths when we will be travelling again on patient transport...not a good word to say this time...

They extra charge for plastic zip bags on the security scan, have in general bad attitude towards passengers. The overall hygiene is poor inside and outside. A plus is the public transport, but it is available only during the day, if you have a midnight flight- taxi, as it is dangerous outside to walk alone. 2 stars because of the Wi-Fi and the guy that helped me find my SIM card pocket.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is always our choice of departure over and above Manchester, even though LPL is further away and the train doesn't go directly to it. On 25 Feb 2025, we were informed a few days before our flight that the new Security System scanners were being installed and to allow up to 3 hours for the Check-in and Security Check in order to avoid missing our departure, as there had been some issues - but it appears these had been on the very early morning slots which are now much busier since Jet2 have taken up the majority of them. Our flight was at 14:50hrs and we entered the Terminal doorways from our taxi drop off point at midday. A personal check-in at the manned desks with no queues, passport check, bags weighed and tagged and then off to the upper floor (stairs, escalator or elevator), whichever takes your fancy. Security Check: the usual jacket has to be removed, boots above the ankle etc and placed in the tray with your carry-on bag. No liquid items or electricals need to be removed. I had my credit cards in my pocket so pulled over for a quick scan, including my new trainers which were sniffed on a machine I haven't seen before on my many transits at LPL. My trainers went back through the scanner in a separate tray and I was free to go. Duration from entering the building to entering the Duty Free Shopping area = 11 MINUTES (including the extra check and re-scan for me). The staff at Liverpool John Lennon Airport are all friendly and polite at all times. On the return at 22:30hrs a week later - we were pleased to see the Passport/Immigration Check booths are still fully staffed by real people (no machines), yay! Friendly faces as always and a cheery 'safe journey home' as we exited to the baggage collection carousel. Bags were already rolling around the belt as we approached it. I spotted mine as we reached it, then the belt stopped dead... Nothing was happening and no sign of movement. My partner went further along the belt and found theirs was already through. That was it, all bags had already been fully offloaded, hence why the carousel stopped rolling. Thank you LPL, see you again next month 👍

The airport itself is ok. It doesn’t have much in the way of facilities but the security process is a completely inefficient joke. We went via Manchester 4 weeks ago and it was effortless. Super efficient. By comparison there were long queues (even at 4am) to get through in Liverpool and then the whole putting your stuff in plastic tubs and getting scanned was completely chaotic. We then went to the diner for breakfast and you have to scan at the table to order but neither of us could get on the airport WiFi, the diner doesn’t have its own WiFi and we could only get 3G. To add to the annoyance, they ask you to tip the staff at the point of order. Before anyone even speaks to you or before you get your food! Won’t be rushing back here any time soon.

It's great to see this airport growing and investing in new technologies. I love the fact they already have CT scans at the security. No need to take anything out of your hand luggage. Even though the airport isn't as big as Manchester,it still offers shops for it's passengers needs including a Greggs and Starbucks too which are both situated before security along with a further Starbucks beyond security too along with some other restaurants after security. The only downside is lack of charging points for mobile phones (and from personal experience a rude Border Security guide who i had to deal with on returning on the Kaunas flight on Saturday evening 1st March who i light-hearted asked if Greggs was still open as I noticed many of the staff go in there and he shrugged his shoulders and responded "How am i supposed to know!" He was an overweight old guy and no wonder some passengers have no respect for them!) I wonder what his response would have been if i were an attractive young female instead....)

The worst airport I have ever been to. Security is completely not understanding. They wanted 40dollars for transporting small glass souvenir in my carry on!! I didnt pay and they took it away saying that I need to check it in checked baggage because „it is a rule”. I know the rules and rule is that things like this go in carry ons!!! Not recommend. For perspective that I’m not coming at this with limited exposure to borders, I fly in and out of UK airports every other week. This is the first time I’ve used Liverpool Airport, as it’s not particularly local. However, I thought I’d give it a try. This is the first time in approximately 10 years I have had to queue at border control as long as this. In their infinite wisdom, the management have slotted in a handful of arrivals this Sunday evening, all within 15 mins of each other. A surge of over a thousand passengers descended upon the border, which isn’t equipped with e-gates and is too small for this passenger volume. Hence, we all queued outside in the cold night air, crawling to the small handful of manned desks, the experience took over an hour. An hour in cramped, moderately chaotic lines, exposed to the elements for some of the time. I’ll stick to Stansted, Luton, Gatwick, Heathrow and even Manchester until they get their act together here and plan either infrastructure or schedules to respect that people don’t want this hassle. It was definitely a time travel experience back to an era before these things were thankfully eradicated at most British airports (except for the odd tech glitch). The irony of the first two words of this slogan (“Faster, Easier, Friendlier”) hit hard when you’re stuck in this. Second star given for patient and friendly staff, who must also be sick of handling this too.

Very small airport but well served by buses to the city center and back. Big problems in terms of cleanliness, as well as staff: people at the control not pleasant at all (I did not choose to take England out of Europe, so I have nothing to do with it if there are additional papers to look at.) Police walking around quietly while drunk passengers embarrass everyone and screaming in the terminal.

Friendly and helpful staff, security was smooth and efficient with clear instructions of what to do. Couple foods options, there’s basically two of what you’d expect. Few food options, drinks and mini store such as WH Smith or Boots. Boarding was smooth and in my case the plane left exactly on time. There’s also a Greggs before Security and bus options to the City Centre alongside easy to locate Taxi Bay.

Fantastic airport, Airport Assistance, Check in Desks/Staff, Security, Duty Free and Food/Bar Outlets, Information Display Screens, Boarding Gates are all first class. The airport is clean, easy to navigate and close to home. Drop Off charges are a little unfair, seems like a scheme just to make more money from travellers, even added on to your taxi fare! Buses do drop you off and pick up directly outside the airport if you are travelling during bus timetables. Other than drop off charges this airport is first class! ✈️

Problem at control (Filtering Inspection): lack of tact and intelligence of all inspection staff who have a general condescending attitude in the search for secondary control effects, deplorable behavior in the interaction with travelers. I know airports all too well. Liverpool Airport must raise the bar out of respect for travelers and pride. Remember to turn the heating back on, also out of respect for the travelers and for all of your employees, who, with the exception of your screening agents, are friendly and intelligent.

One of our favourite airports. As I am disabled we can pay for a long stay car park within 100m of the departures entrance and quickly access special assistance. There are many people to help and they "remember" where you are. However, gate 9 is perculiar as you have to be pushed past the lift we used, have our documents checked elsewhere, and then go back to the lift. All seemed a bit odd. Overall, we will use Liverpool John Lennon whenever we can.

Terrible airport. The lounge refused entry for card holders, even though it was empty. Most of the restaurants and bars are closed. Avoid at all costs. Not a patch on Manchester Airport.

Had a superb experience yesterday at the Everton v Luton cup game. Went to Goodison cafe and the food was absolutely amazing and staff were so friendly. Quick service and we managed to get a table. Queue and wait times not too bad at all. The pies are amazing! Comes with chips and gravy, peas and a drink! Great stuff!

Have been coming here for years but the last few months this has gone properly downhill. £3 for a large chips which are warmed up, burnt and full of grease. Staff who work there have and always will be nice but the quality of food is shocking. Won’t be going back there now.
