I am not a person who is writing reviews My review is that I come back here weekly. The food is amazing but what makes the food even more great is the services provide by all people that work here. When you serve a good meal and the service is bad, the food is bad. In this case, the food is great and with the service provided is is even better, the food is even better. So when you ever want to go to a nice place with the most friendly people with the best service, go to St Vincent in Newcastle upon Tyne. The best!!!

Wonderful place, I went as a single diner as I’m on a business trip, just wanted to read and eat good food and this restaurant didn’t disappoint, atmosphere was brilliant for a Thursday evening, a lot of places tend to ignor you slightly as a single diner but this place did not at all. Lovely attentive polite staff and great food with a large selection of wine and champagne to pair with even on the open wine list. Service was quick even on a busy evening of large tables and staff are friendly and warm throughout the evening even though they were very busy, they never lacked in comfort. Had a starter main and dessert, with a white, red and a champagne, tartare that’s avocado whip stole the show, chops cooked pink to perfection and lemon sorbet matched with limoncello and Prosecco, what was crisp refreshing and one of the best I’ve had. all truly wonderful. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back when I’m back in town x

St Vincent is a cosy and charming wine bar that offers a variety of delicious dishes and drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the service is attentive and professional. Whether you are looking for a quick bite, a romantic dinner, or a fun night out with friends, St Vincent has something for everyone. The menu features a selection of charcuterie, cheese, salads, and small plates that are perfect for sharing. The food is fresh, flavourful, and well-presented. Some of the highlights include the truffled macaroni cheese, the grilled monkfish tail, and the chocolate mousse. The portions are generous and satisfying, and the prices are reasonable. The wine list is impressive and diverse, with options from small, independent producers as well as classic regions. You can find wines by the glass, bottle, or carafe, and the staff are happy to help you choose the best pairings for your food. The cocktails are also well-made and inventive, and the vermouths and amaros are a nice touch. St Vincent is a hidden gem in Newcastle that deserves more recognition. It is a place where you can enjoy quality food and wine in a warm and welcoming setting. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves good food and good vibes.

Absolutely incredible. Dined here last night with my 4 friends, sat at the bar - service and food was impeccable. Such a vibe too. I had the oysters, beets, souffle with ragu (insane) and scallops with hunks of foccacia to dip in the sauce. Margheritas to wash it down. One of my top all-time meals, will be back very soon!

Visited this place for the first time during Restaurant Week and we didn't know what to expect. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! I got the minestrone and the pasta with spinach and ricotta cheese. Some would say that they are both plain but they were actually so flavourful! I can't praise the soup enough, I simply loved it! The Portugese wine we tried was also exceptional and was happy with the service as well. The ambiance was lovely and fitting for a wine bar. Not sure about the normal prices but what we got was certainly worth it. Highly recommended and can't wait to visit again!

First, a word of warning: don't get the cheese board. It's the worst and saddest cheeseboard I've ever seen. Other than that, this place is fantastic. The food is so, so good. The staff are really lovely, and the vibe is excellent. Portions are small, but that's what we all need. Quality over quantity, and this place delivers on quality. Except for the cheese board.

Came here for my partners birthday, amazing experience ! Staff were very attentive and happy to explain in great detail about the wines they serve, as I don’t usually drink wine it was lovely to gain some knowledge and try quite a few ! The food was excellent and we were stuffed by the end ! Oyster each to start, a main and a dessert ! The cocktails were also fantastic and excellently done ! I’d booked this table under the occasion of birthday and no requirements and we were brought out a little dessert with a candle in to our surprise ! It was a wonderful experience, though not one we can afford often (we went off early evening menu which is great value !) we can’t wait for our next trip back, highly recommended especially if you love cocktails, wines and unique selection of food !

Wow, this place is an amazing in every aspect - the most delicious food, amazing drinks, great staff, and overall good vibe. We attended as a group of 6 for lunch, we started with cocktails, all of which were delicious. We ordered some off menu too eg margaritas which they were more than happy to do for us. There’s a massive selection of wine, which I initially found quite intimidating! But Matt was great, it helping us find a wine to suits our groups taste and budget, this was done in a really friendly and unpretentious way. We had the white Rioja which was delicious and pleased the whole group. For food we ordered a selection of plates to share, EVERYTHING we had was amazing and so tasty. I especially enjoyed the crispy oysters (cooked perfectly) , seabass crudo (so fresh) and ray wing (loved it with the brown butter) butternut squash pasta (it just melt in your mouth), and the burnt cheesecake (wow). Hats off to the chef! The service was great, every member of staff we came across was polite, helpful, friendly, and ensured we were well looked after. Overall, a great restaurant in every aspect!

It was a special evening with wine maker Giacometti Boscaini matching his family Masi wines to the wonderful food on the face of it might seem pricey at 95 pounds a head but it was excellent value the food was amazing 5 courses of deliciousness with matching wines and you didn’t just get one glass they just kept coming round and pouring ! What a fabulous night. We reserved dinner here before a night at the theatre and the wine list and cocktails hit the spot. Happened to mention to the waiting staff that the deep red paired very well with Belgian chocolate and, before we knew it, the manageress had popped down the street and bought a serving of handmade truffles for us to enjoy with the wine. The tasting board and tapas-stye dishes were to do for, artisan meats, cheeses and breads of the finest quality. Not cheap ,but then we don't mind paying for excellence. All in all, an exceptional dining experience and now right up there with Newcastle's atmospheric, gastronomic delights and service over and above, as it should be.

Oysters were good, and the mix of small and large plates came out at a nice pace so that we were not overawed by a table of food. I’m baffled by the low rating amongst other restaurants in Newcastle for St Vincent, because it is quite superb. I’ve travelled a fair amount this year - South Africa, USA, France, Israel - and St Vincent provided us with the best meal we’ve had all year. Firstly, the room - it is trendy, comfortable and well laid out. There was a fantastic atmosphere on the Saturday night we went. Great welcome and they offered us an alternative table with no hesitation (our allotted table was right next to the front door - no thanks). Service by the three people we spoke to was faultless and good fun (the 20 minute wait for a drink was the only mild downer). But the food, oh my goodness, the food was exquisite. I have never had such incredible scallops. Three enormous king size from the Orkneys I think. Perfectly cooked and just amazing. I would go back just to have those again. Main was a wonderful monk fish, again perfectly cooked. Interesting wine list - a bit light on rose options but all reasonably priced. All in all, £85 a head including tip. An absolute bargain for the quality of everything. Our new favourite restaurant. Go!

Things probably didn't start well due to a group of smokers right outside the entrance to the restaurant - It would've been good to see a member of staff ask them to move round the corner away from people walking into the restaurant. That kind of put a dampener on things immediately. The food, while some of the dishes were really tasty, some were a bit bland - the mussels in particular didn't really impress and that was probably the dish I was most looking forward to. I don't know whether it was just my ignorance but we ordered 4 small plates each and I ended up with two before my partner had been given one of hers... then both of our chips came out last out of all the dishes. Just seemed a bit messy and unorganised where you'd think a bit of common sense would be applied to which dishes you serve first. For our desert we had tiramisu and we both felt like that probably saved the meal. The service throughout was good - can't really complain about the waiting staff. It was a busy evening and can only imagine how stressful it can be with a busy restaurant. The wine was expensive, but was very nice. I think the cheapest bottle I saw on the menu was £25 and that seemed a bit extortionate.Didn't really feel that it was fair to put a compulsory 10% service charge on the bill. That seems like a bit of a dated practice and when reading through other reviews to find that only a small portion of that goes to the waiting staff, it feels a bit unfair. We've been following the restaurant for a while and been meaning to book for ages but it ended up falling a bit short of our expectations. I don't feel like we'd go back unless it was with a bigger group and with a bit more knowledge of the menu and the best way to order plates suited to who you're dining with - Veggie/Meat eater etc.

No-one did! Food choice very disappointing. I opted for the pasta with venison and mushrooms, it was not to my taste but when most of it was left when the table was cleared I was not asked what the problem was. My husband had the chicken schnitzel which was mediocre. The children (both ages 17) had steak and egg which was quite fatty. We won’t return. Also very pricy!

This is our first visit. I thought the menu was uninspiring and expensive for what you actually got. The service on our visit was very poor. The waitress began clearing the table when one of our party of 4 was still eating, in fact she actually leaned over the person eating to retrieve dishes. Then when serving the desserts the waiter dropped one of the doughnuts on the table, and all he said was oops, not sorry and would you like me to replace that. Then another waitress clearing dessert dishes dropped them on the floor spilling sauce from the doughnuts on my friends shopping bag and his foot. So overall the food quality was good but potion to price ratio not too good. Service appalling. I loved the forerunner of this restaurant ( Caffe Vivo) but will not be in a hurry to come back here. Personally I think Terry Laybourne has let his standards drop.

Your staff members are a credit to the restaurant - super attentive and polite.I’d highly recommend to all and will be coming back for sure.I can’t choose a favourite dish! Thank you Saint Vincent!

A really chilled place to go. Glass of wine? Cup of coffee? Cakes and pastries? Charcuterie or something more substantial? It's all here. Great service and a great atmosphere.

We ate here as a group of five family and friends for a 21st birthday meal and were really impressed. The interior is clean, well designed and comfortable with a good atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful from the off and, a big issue for me, the background music wasn't too loud. The menu is unusual, sort of tapas or grazing, and on the advice of the waitress, we ordered 2-3 dishes per head. Food arrived as it was ready and was all excellent. Everything was tasty and piping hot while the various Croque's were a world apart from the dismal offerings commonly going by that name.In the end, we had too much food. Sticking at 2 dishes per head would have been more realistic, especially as the Croque's are filling.I felt the bill was very reasonable and all in all this is a great place. Thoroughly recommended.

Let me start be saying the food here is very good. The atmosphere is chilled, the decor is first class and the bar staff really professional. However, the blond waitress is miserable and actually quite rude. Food wise, the tiger king prawns, the croquets, the chicken liver parfait and the steak were all delicious and to be fair, everything else we ordered was faultless. Attitudes really do make or break an experience!

Went here with friends, service was ok. Our waitress was ok but didn’t really have any charm which made the visit a bit sterile. Food was ok but the portion size is very small. The drinks are very expensive but good quality. I’ll probably not be back unless I’m on a business lunch or something.

Waitress was very unhelpful. We arrived before 12.00 but were told the breakfast menu items were not available after 12.00 and some were a Sunday menu how confusing it was. We were made to feel this was our ignorance. Please sort this out. I thought the drinks must be more straightforward the Mimosa was a cheap bubbly and even cheaper juice. This was disappointing as had brought family after a more positive visit previous month. We wish we had of left after the limited menu choice we had gone to this chains alternative dining option 21 restaurant which is always predictable in quality and service.

The tips do not go to the serving staff, even though it says on the bottom of the bill ‘a 10% discretionary service charge is added to your bill, all tips go to the staff’. This is a lie, I had heard this but wanted to check so asked my server who confirmed it.Had this not been the case, this restaurant would’ve received 5 stars. The food and wine are fantastic and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable. I just wish they would pay them their hard earned tips!

We visited on a Saturday, late afternoon. The food was amazing, lots of small plates, so we could share our dishes & such good wine. The staff were very helpful & friendly and the restaurant has a lovely relaxed feel to it. Would definitely go back.

A special visit to Newcastle and to this delightful small restaurant tucked close by the quay. We enjoyed some really interesting dishes at very reasonable prices, 4 small courses for£15. I enjoyed beautifully cookedcalamare with aioli, chips with aioli (I Love aioli) and beets with horseradish followed by tarte tatin. A carafe of wine went down well.Super place.

This was previously Cafe Vivo and I was a little apprehensive but needn't have been. I think there are some of the same staff and it was a nice atmosphere on a busy night and managed to get about the last table. More tapas like food than before but choosing about 4 plates was more than enough and all cooked really well including some lovely hake. The service was good and friendly. Lively atmosphere. Definitely going back.
