We visited today for food. The food and service was amazing we really enjoyed it.

Another 1st, even though I walk past it most days while at work. Had the 2 course lunch time special, potato skins same pizza. Not all pizzas on the menu are available and you can't pay the difference. No big deal, as plenty of choice still. Very quick service from ordering starters to getting them and the plane was busy. Pizzas are lovely and will basically fill you up for the rest of the day. Great location looking onto the Tyne, recently refurbished as well, very nice inside.

We had an amazing time celebrating our parents Diamond Wedding Anniversary on Saturday. There were 17 of us and all the staff especially Adam could not be any more helpful. From decorations for the table, to ensuring every need was catered, to they could not be more helpful. Adam made everyone comfortable with his friendly and funny repartee xxx

Me and my partner turned up looking for a table! Fully accommodated us! Asked for extra garlic on everything! Kayleigh was the greatest! Then met a guy called Adam! The loveliest gay in the village!! Being Welsh had the best welcoming ever! Lush place will deffo return!! Food outstanding! X

2nd time in a couple of months and always nice to be greeted by the Caley the manager , Our go to place used to be Portifinos but no longer , fantastic starters including prawns and chorizo and black pudding and belly pork , Had a wonderful seafood pizza with fresh chilli and ended the night with Sambuca shots , Thank you Caley and the team , We will be back .

Our group of 4 visited Sambucas early Friday evening. The table had lovely views, the staff were absolutely wonderful, food fantastic. Manager came over and chatted. The whole experience was amazing. Would strongly recommend it and we'll certainly be returning. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.

Just spent the weekend in Newcastle in a group of 22. We booked our evening meal at Sambuca and it was the highlight of our trip. I booked through Caley and she couldn't have been more helpful and reassuring. On the evening Caley and Adam looked after us and we only wish they could've joined us for the whole evening. They were fabulous. The food and wine was exceptional, it was such great value for money. It has recently been refurbished and the decor is beautiful. We had the private dining area, which was perfect. After the meal, the staff cranked up the music for us so we could have a dance, it was so fun. Can't recommend Sambuca enough, will definitely be back.

Fatine Served us all evening, she was fab! So lovely!! The food was good, quantity was great. Atmosphere was also great!

It would have been nice to have step free access to an accessible toilet. Food was good. A colleague wanted a jug of tap water for the table but got a glass instead.

Tiramasue was rasteless and coffee very small. Try somewhere else.

Different class food, & playlist for music amazing, 10/10

I have ate here before ( food was good) but today I witnessed a member of staff come outside and ask a homeless woman what she would like to eat, then went to get her the garlic bread she ask for. I don’t think he knew anyone heard it. Was such a selfless act ❤️

Came for a meal with my 2 grandaughters on a Saturday evening .First time here fir me surroundings beautiful and clean .Food was delicious and cocktails were good.The waitress we had her name was Faridene was polite attentive without being pushy and chatty I watched her as I was eating and she was like this to other customers a assett to your team .Would definitely come back and recommend to others

Had a fantastic night the staff were excellent. The ambience was beautiful. The meal was fantastic. They catered for every whim that we had.. The problem was with our spirited coffees (after meal)it was served lukewarm. We sent them back the returned hot but we could not taste any spirit. (Bailey ) did not want to send them back yet again. Other than that would certainly return and even look forward to the next occasion. See you again, looking forward to it ..

We booked the restaurant for 26 children and 3 adults for an end of primary school treat. Even though there was 29 of us, we were warmly welcomed and the organisation was brilliant. We all received our meals at the same time which I wasn’t expecting due to the group size and the food was faultless. I can honestly say there was not a morsel left. The waiting staff were friendly and excellent with the children. The whole visit was made a memorable outing for the children and teachers alike. Thank you Sambucas we will be returning next year I’m sure.

Food was brilliant. Great value for money. We were in a large group that was managed well, and the server that attended to my end of the table was friendly and professional.

Called here for dinner with colleagues on a Wednesday evening. Very friendly and welcoming staff at this newly refurbished restaurant. Superb food, great choices on the menu, and the special offers menu - 3 courses from £25. I would call here again. Highly recommend

Recently refurbished and really nice restaurant

I feel a bit bad but this has to be written so that management can hopefully steer this in the right direction - venue looks amazing and was very clean - the view is awesome - food was good, sadly a joke was made about my order upon placing it (asking to leave something out) and then my plate arrived with it containing the multiple of said item I requested to be left out - swiftly staff actioned another plate - problem solved - great - but there were lots of smaller elements that left us feeling that maybe staff needed training up - we were not asked at all if we'd like to see the dessert menu or order coffee.. our plates were finished on the table throughout even our kids eating ice-cream after mains - which we had to move finished plates out of the way for and had initiated staff to please take .. we decided after 20 mins of waiting that we would just go get our dessert/coffee somewhere else - then it came to paying ... Which shocked us both - again we got up from the table after a lengthy wait and were bid goodbye - to which we said we need to pay ... So standing waiting for the card reader to load I had my head turned phone in my hand talking to my husband stood by the door and the staff member touched my phone with the reader while I was looking away - without telling me how much the bill was or if I wanted to tip or that the machine was ready - fortunately the card it was default set to was the card I wanted to pay with ..but it kind of unnerved me, I have no doubt the member of staff thought she was being helpful maybe by doing this but absolutely had misjudged that situation, what if I wanted to pay using another card? Or what if I was going to leave a tip? I was going to I always do. But minimum I should have been told how much it was, just being courteous... Again I think it's nothing more than an error in judgement but this could really cause problems if done to someone less tolerant than myself .. the fact the staff member then proceeded to tell me her name and to leave a review on trustpilot made it very obvious that she was oblivious to her mistake. Love the venue & staff do try the focus is more on banter than service though & clearly need guidance, some of these mistakes mean we probably won't revisit for a long time

Food well worth money nice bottle of wine fantastic view of Tyne Btidge. Will recommend to family and friends. Booking for a table of 25 for our friends when we come to town on monthly visit. pretty good italian-ish restaurant/bar. bar service was a bit pushy but idk its normal ordered: meat pizza, garlic butter steak, hot sauce chicken parmo strawberry & classic mojito service: 8/10 food: 7.5/10 vibes: 7/10

Excellent atmosphere and both dishes we ordered, one better than the other. The attention of the fabulous staff (Robie, Sally and the Spanish girl) were very pleasant and cordial with very good recommendations to us and the Sambuca liquor after dinner was phenomenal. Thank you, very good evening.

First time going to Sambucas and I was so impressed! The staff are lovely & the food was delicious! Thoroughly enjoyed and would go again!! Highly recommend

Absolutely appalling service and disgusting the way my friend who has allergies was treat. Allergies were fully explained and my friend was giving options but politely informed them that she did not want a salad and was told she could have chips. All the while during the conversation the brunette waitress was incredibly rude and inappropriate. Then after an extensive period of time we were able to order food. When my friend's dish arrived it literally a plain lump of chicken breast with no seasoning and the tiniest pathetic bit of limp salad and no chips. They waited until the rest of the food was brought to explain she couldn’t have the chips. Then they charged her £16 for it. The food wasn’t great but the attitudes of the staff was disgusting. How they can justify treating someone like that is beyond me, especially the attitude revolving around my friends allergies. If they had of been honest we would have just left but they didn’t say anything until food arrived. Disgusting! You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Half of the staff looked like they couldn't really be bothered. ( a smile would be good). 1 of the staff member was AMAZING! I didn't get his name and he only dealt with us at the end however he made my entire evening!!! The food was REALLY GOOD and not as expensive as I thought. Atmosphere was nice, the music in the back ground (maybe a bit loud for some but we enjoyed it), and the toilets were clean and modern (which is great). Would Definitely go back!

Dinner at a wonderful restaurant @SambucaQuayside overlooking the beautiful Tyne bridge at where we were seated . Food was excellent especially the steak and chicken pomo. Coctails at £12 for 2 servings. Huge portions and service was tip top with servers coming over to inquire How's the food! Recommended🥰

Fabulous place, newly opened after a full refurbishment. Had a great meal, very nice tasty chicken parmo with Bolognese topping with chips, all partner had chicken in pepper corn sauce and vegetables. Both excellent 👍👍. Not expensive. Give it a go.

Got the new monster board was unbelievable really nice food little pricey but you get what you pay for definitely won't be disappointed if you try it I will be back for 1 and the place looks really nice and modern since the revamp

Fantastic night last Friday for elvis tribute at sambuka quayside. Great atmosphere, food delicious as always 😋 staff so friendly and always making sure everything is OK. Kayleigh always makes sure you are welcomed and sat somewhere nice 😊 staff make sure you're meal is OK and if you need more drinks .Mana always remembers you and greets you with a smile and looks after you while you are there. Manager so friendly it's such a lovely friendly restaurant for all ages . Can't wait to return again.

Not the best even at that price

The crew easily and professionally hosted our group of 35 hungry touring cyclists at the recently refurbished Sambuca. Next time: same place - for sure.

Hallo SAMBUCA, will leave you good revive. Not really sure why only 3stars atmosphere is amassing, food was piping hot and taste excellent ordered onyx burger I'm making my own burgers and it is hard to impress me, but this was good burger. Family was happy with their food. 6 peoples 107 pound I think great service

Booked a table & was slightly late due to no fault of our own and was reluctantly given a tablet, waited over 10 minutes to be asked if we wanted to order a drink then another 15 minutes to even order food! Ordered Arrabbiata pasta and there was more chilles than pasta… spoke to a waiter after trying to get there attention for ages as the music is so LOUD that they can’t hear you, was told it’s always made like this, which is it isn’t with visiting the other Sambuca chains and never had this issue before! Yes they took it off the bill but the experience was all round shocking with ignorant waiting staff! Only good thing is the new decor 😂

Staff very friendly, food was lovely nice pint of morretti loved it 👌, come back to sambuca a year later and food service was excellent again , every time I come here you never disappointed this time we get Elvis with our tea🍻

We booked a table for 8 on 26th may for my mam's 70th birthday we had amazing time the food was amazing and a lovely young man called Adam who was are server was on point with everything we needed and he made the atmosphere wonderful we will be coming again

Sambuca is Amazing! Total bang for your buck! They have had a lovely renovation and the restaurant looks absolutely stunning. The staff were extremely caring and kind. They were able to offer suggestions. Do not let the price of the menu fool you, because the food is bloody fantastic too. I had the creamy vegetable soup and the pasta aglio, which were amazing. Sambuca is genuinely one of my favorites in the city!

Went to this place on 19.11.23 Food was excellent however the waitress was not very nice. She seemed to struggle with what I was saying and she just was not friendly at all. There were people next to us that she knew and she was more friendly even giving on of them a hug.

Walked in for lunch before going to the theatre. Shown to a table with a great view over the river Tyne. Lots of staff, all helpful and attentive. We ordered vegetarian risotto and chicken Parmo, huge servings and not too expensive either. Lovely ambience in the restaurant. Will definitely return and bring our family next time.

Booked for 16 and our food came really quickly. Great service and staff. Very reasonable pricing! They made it a very special birthday night, especially the waiter in my picture, he was an absolute legend.

Stated carvery served u till 5, entered at 3:45 to be told it was no longer on. Turned to leave then was told it was available. Sat at table and ordered drinks, waitress arrived and when we said we were here for carvery she said it's not available as there is no meat left. Went to leave again to be told there was meat. Veg was very poor and barely any choice, Yorkshire puddings were burnt, mash potatoes were tasty though. Very unorganized and slap dash

This restaurant is located in a fairly pleasant location down by the quayside Very unusual layout inside but it works We were a fairly large party of 8 adults and 2 children that required highchairs We had booked but when we arrived it was very quiet that changed quite quickly so would recommend booking We opted for the lunchtime special 3 courses for £8.95 yes the menu is a bit limited but we still thought it was amazing value considering some of the pizzas were £9.95 anyway We started with a combination of the potato skins and the soup very nice We also ordered some of the garlic bread pizzas these again were very good Then a combination of the pasta and pizzas good sized portions and very tasty Followed by the ice cream (oddly a bit bitty in texture) The only slight downside is if you have prams /pushchairs or mobility issues there are a few steps to get into the restaurant So to sum up great value for money well worth a visit

Service was fast and efficient. Prices were reasonable and the food was fantastic. Large table with Pizzas, Pasta, Risotto, and chicken, all well prepared and full of taste. Great enthusiasm from staff made the visit feel special, will definately return!

Came for the carvery Sunday lunch. The starter was lovely potato skins but the main was awful only had turkey or gammon left, wasn’t told this when we ordered. I choose the gammon ,when we sat down to eat lunch and the waitress came over and said the gammon was a bit salty ,on trying it it was far too saltly too eat awful,Yorkshire pudding hard too,Wouldn’t recommend Sambuccas ,pay the extra and go else where.

Food was superb and service excellent

Had the 3 course set menu for £24.95 which included Rib eye steak and Salmon fillet. Beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended

Went for a meal 1st October, there was 4 adults, the food was amazing, steak cooked to perfection, homemade chips, the starter and puddings were spot on, staff very friendly, can’t wait to visit again, wish there was one nearer to Scarborough

Gorgeous Italian restaurant near the quayside, great family run business, lovely people and impeccable service , food was spot on and definitely get your money worth, highly recommend if you are wanting either a nice meal out or just a chilled dinner.

Like this place. They have a good offer for lunch. One of my favourites is creamy vegetable soup 🍲 😋. You can also enjoy Sunday dinner. For choose from chicken, pork, and classic beef carvery. Sometimes it's quite busy. But it's worth waiting. One thing I would ask to change it is music 🎶. Sometimes it's ok, but others not OK..

We had walked past recurring of the restaurant and really didn't take any notice of it and the name made it sound more of a cocktail bar. But when walking along the Quayside we spotted signs advertising their food which made us take a look at their menu and give it a try. The staff were all very friendly and the food was piping hot, generous portions, well presented and very tasty. The next night we went to try a different restaurant, sat down but didn't feel comfortable with The surroundings so we left and went back to Sambucca. This time the welcome was even better than the first time and again, the food did not disappoint. Best ambience and good value for the quality of good served. If we return to Newcastle we will return to Sambucca. Oh and the biscoff cheesecake was to die for and the best I have ever had

We have driven two hours to Newcastle and were starving for some good food. Had a walk around and found this restaurant. Had ordered a grilled steak and a spicy risotto with beef. The steak was grilled just right. Very juicy inside and got crispy charcoaled texture outside. The risotto has got a great Mexican flavour with assorted spices and was simply yummy. The service was good. Will definitely visit again if I’ve got a chance.

Absolutely outstanding service !! We were a group of 16 people and you know how stressful it must be for people who work in hospitality because of taking payments, taking the orders etc. However, Cailey turned up smiling and very professional ensuring everyone was enjoying their food and checking constantly we needed anything else. Also, it's relevant to mention that the toilets were spot on, so clean and proper bleach which is something to shout out too. We tend to complaint when we don't like things but I think they all deserve a good shout out for the service, friendliness, nice food and hygiene.

Had a really nice lunch....just main course and a drink.....staff really attentive....checked back that food was ok for us. Sat for a while after eating ...no pressure to pay and go. Very pleasant.

Visited here yesterday with my son, with great expectations after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. To say that we were disappointed would be an understatement. We were given a table for two overlooking the river, very pleasant, although on taking in the surroundings, the place looked a bit grubby and in need of some tlc. The second we had sat down a waiter appeared at the table asking if we wanted drinks. I requested a few minutes to look at the drinks menu, before ordering a Diet Coke, son ordered fresh orange juice and lemonade. Coke was flat. I ordered Thai fish cakes as a starter, son ordered potato skins. The fish cakes resembled a cork beer mat…about 1/4 inch thick and rock hard having obviously been overcooked. Potato skins were edible. Main course…lasagne and chunky chips for me, fillet steak with Diane sauce, chips and a side portion of onion rings for son. Lasagne was a thick, congealed, dried out, burnt mess on the plate. Clearly not freshly prepared and had been heated up to within an inch of its life in the microwave. Chips were not freshly cooked, looked and tasted as if they had been made days ago and reheated. I had two mouthfuls and left the entire meal. Fillet steak overcooked and sauce tasteless, second portion of ordered chips didn’t arrive, onion rings greasy and cold. From sitting down, to being served, starters and mains took approx 15 minutes…says it all really. At no point whilst eating did anyone ask if our food was ok, although two waiters appeared to be watching us constantly, making us feel very uncomfortable. On clearing the table I quietly and discreetly expressed my disappointment with the meal to the waiter with glasses, who apologised and agreed to remove the Lasagne from the bill, but the taller, bald waiter became very defensive and argumentative, to the point of being confrontational. The blonde waitress who settled our bill was pleasant and appeared understanding of the situation. To summarise, to anyone looking to spend their hard earned money, there are many food establishments in Newcastle offering a far better customer experience and superior food. We wouldn’t go back to Sambucca and wouldn’t recommend.

Probably should have known better but ordered the half pizza/pasta deal, it would have been good value (£15) but got the seafood pasta and one of the muscles was completely off, and tasted absolutely awful so I didn't dare try the others. They did offer me more muscles but I was completely put off by then. Thankfully the pizza was okay (bolognese and garlic). Would have been a right dud if I had gotten pasta on its own. I see a few comments about the staff being rude, they were okay and we didn't get a service charge so can't complain

Visited as a group of 6 friends around 5pm on Saturday, we didn’t have a booking as we had just arrived in town visiting from beamish, I have family in Newcastle and have visited the other restaurant a few times so knew it would be good. We were greeted warmly and shown a lovely table overlooking the Tyne. Service was fast and excellent perfect for us as we wanted to head to the bars. We had starters and mains and wine, prices very reasonable and food a good standard, all piping hot and tasty. Really glad we chose to dine here.

Impressed by scope of menu choices in this buzzing eating place. Service warm and friendly and kitchen efficient in getting our most enjoyable dishes on the table. This in spite of large groups having a great night out and demanding service. Very generous portions and food well cooked and nicely presented. Wine prices reasonable and good value. Recommended
