St. Johns Restaurant in Allerdale

Me and family (4 adults and 1 child) pre booked a New Year's Eve celebration meal at the kings head as we were staying in the lakes over Christmas and thought it would be a lovely place to see the new year in. I have eaten here before a while back and the food and service was fine. On arrival all looked really nice, nice table layout crackers party poppers etc Music in the background (which ended being on repeat about 4 times whilst we ate) For Starters I had the ham hock which was okay, their was nothing on the menu for children so my daughter had a bread basket (strange I know but literally a whole loaf of ciabatta in a basket) the rest of my family had trio of seafood which apparently consisted of salmon, mackerel and halibut but it was actually 'duo of seafood' just salmon and halibut. Then came the main course, buffet style which was a strange combination 'a carb lovers paradise' if you ask me...potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, more potatoes then a couple of meats and 2 hot dishes which were barely hot. As the service was so slow my dad had to go to bar to get our drinks at the other end of the pub! We Waited ages for the waiter to ask us for our pudding choice, when it did arrive it was cold - I ordered the warm pear and ginger crepes with lime sorbet and chocolate sauce (see my pic it was a joke) no chocolate sauce, no sorbet. It seems the chef doesn't know what's on the menu and is making it up as he goes along. The brochure advertised a disco, I can't believe it but the dj actually pulled up a chair at the table we were eating at to ask us what we want playing (seriously, your the dj). We ended the evening by leaving early and having a better new year at our holiday cottage however £175 worse off!! certainly will not be returning their are far better places to go in the lakes.

Fuimos allí para una comida ya que parecía haber tenido buenas críticas. El primer plato de ensalada César fue muy bueno, con un montón de anchoas. Sin embargo, las comidas principales eran muy decepcionantes. La 10 Chop 10 onzas de carne de cerdo era más como 5 o 6 oz. Nos pareció que las comidas eran caras por la cantidad que nos dieron, los senderistas una buena comida. La salsa del pegajosa pudding toffees tenía granulado y era pobre.

Yo odio escrito críticas negativas sobre restaurantes. Sin embargo, el restaurante de St. John's es uno de los peores que he tenido la desgracia de "comer" en. Hay mejores 'hervir-en-la-bolsa' o comidas preparadas. Mi comida sólo era cálido y sabía como si hubiese sido recalentado varias veces, la comida también estaba mal presentado. La vajilla sucia. He tenido mucho mejores comidas en "cucharas te atiborran" - donde las cucharas son realmente limpio ... Si era posible que el premio "nada" estrellas me habría hecho. Evitar.

Had a meal here 1st Oct 2014.to celebrate my husbands birthday. Hotel looked beautiful inside and out. Husband ordered Lamb shank,this was satisfactory,mashed potatoes were the type you get in a packet, just add water.veg was not fresh a couple of spoons of mixed veg,peppers and small onions,obviously from a jar or similar- .My meal was spiced lentils hotpot, with red cabbage served in a side dish. type you buy at M& S- Hotpot .was served in an enamel cooking dish- spiced lentils was topped with 8 slices of potato,looked disgusting,tasted terrible Night was spoilt.was unable to eat this rubbish.It was also expensive.

Mi amigo y yo llamado con la esperanza de tener el almuerzo. Mientras se decida, pedimos dos vinos blancos que cuesta 8 libras, el vino ha descendido desde dos botellas y no estaba helada. El vino era asqueroso y después de mucha consideración me decidí a pedir que se sustituye. El hombre dijo que habían servido el vino no tiene nada de malo, mientras que desacuerdo con esto. Él entonces pedir a sus clientes sentado en el bar para probar mi vino ( no sé si estas personas donde sus amigos o clientes) . Esto fue muy embarazoso y dijo que esta persona no estaba mal. Así que fue confirmado el vino estaba bien, quizás ellos donde residente catadores. dijo que no estaba cambiando el vino independientemente de lo que pensaba. después pedí hablar con el gerente y dijo que era el director.me quedé bastante sorprendido que somene con esas pobres habilidades de comunicación manejaba el lugar. Volví a mi asiento, por esta vez otros clientes habíamos oído que estaba ocurriendo y dejaron. Mi amigo y yo decidimos no comer allí ya que es claro sus bien empleado hecho allí. Me decidí a preguntar al director si había alguien había nadie más podría enviar un correo electrónico a discutir el incidente, sólo en este punto supe que era asistente del director no la gerente. se aseguró que tuve que esperar para esta información. Todo lo que puedo decir es ¡qué plonker este chico es.
