We needed a cup of tea and happened to be close by so popped in and browsed the books etc and had a superb cup of tea. Pot of tea for 2 with a biscuit £3 cant go wrong and for a good cause.

Support this place as much as possible. It for a very good cause. Its a lovely place to eat and chat.

These people are simply amazing. There for you when you need them. They make such a difference when your time comes for help.

There is a huge amount of coffee shops in Colchester, so choosing just one is difficult. So why not choose one that supports a very worthwhile charity? The St Helena's hospice books and coffee shop does just that. It serves a good cup of coffee (cappuccino, iced included) and homemade cakes. We had a choice of six when we visited. I chose the carrot cake and my partner chose the St Clements cake. They were delicious and moist and reasonably priced to compare favourably with chain coffee shops. The service was friendly and the seating area was clean. And, moreover, the shop has a vast selection of good quality second hand books, so, if you're anything like me, it was a no-brainer. A little set back from the cobbled streets, but handy if you park in the nearby multi-storey car park.
