St. George's Plaice in Conwy

The sign states probably the best fish and chips in Llandudno. For £25 we had 2 potions of fish and chips. The size of the fish was minute. About as much fish as in a fish finger. The amount of batter appeared to double the size. Total rip off, we certainly won't visit again to get ripped off.

Lovely meal, the batter on the fish was lovely and crispy cooked just right chips nice and chunky peas nice aswell.clean shop and good service. Be eating here again .

Pleasant enough staff . But the food was rubbish paid £24 for two large fish(as much batter as fish), and soggy batter on the inside , not crispy. Chip were anemic with a funny taste even the mushy peas did not taste right. Who bothers to check reviews on a British fish and chip shop. I will in future.

Girl who served us wouldn’t give us a refund and threatened to call the police, girl who served us also was picking her nose whilst serving our food, AVOID AT ALL COSTS I can’t put into words how disgusting and unclean the place is! Smallest and most expensive fish and chips I have ever had . 2 x small fish and chips , 1x small chips , small curry 3x cans of pop . Over £34 . We counted 10 chips in one tray . Avoid , Ripoff prices .

Waited 20 minutes for one small portion of fish, chips and curry sauce. They charged £14. The fish was tiny and not cooked enough. Batter only cooked one side. Chips kept turning into mashed potatoes. Won't be going again. Not worth the money

I'm really not one to complain, but went here for fish and chips, no cod only haddock, okay no probs, ill have 2 burgers with salad and chips then, I thought he was having a laugh when he returned with the 2 trays of chips, I don't think 1 spud was used between the two, im not one for counting chips but they were shocking, and the salad was just rocket leaves, 25 quid for what I can only describe as very poor, eaten on poorly kept tables outside, moving others peoples rubbish, I wouldn't normally slate anyones business, but my God this place needs to improve, a lot, its a nay from me.

Absolutely shockingly bad. No words. I had a very similar experience and abysmal meal at a fish and chip shop in Kendal some years ago and got told by a local that they move around businesses doing the same. I suspect they have landed in Llandudno……. Eat here at your absolute peril.

The worst and most expensive chips I’ve ever bought. This place is a disgrace. £4.50 for a LARGE portion of chips that didn’t even fill the polystyrene tray. When we actually ate them we were glad there wasn’t many, basically just frozen oven chips done in the fryer. I wish I had checked the Google reviews before I ordered them. The bad reviews and low star rating are a giveaway of how bad this place is

1 star is generous. After waiting over 20 minutes, we opened what was the smallest portion of fish and chips we’ve ever seen. Not only that, but we ordered 2 buttered rolls which was nothing more than 2 slices of bread for £1.50 each. If we had even a lick of phone signal, we’d have been able to look up the reviews and see that this is the worst reviewed fish and chip shop in the area. Truly dreadful and disappointing experience which I hope nobody else has to go through.

If I could score this disgusting dirty looking place a minus star I would. After ordering 1 fish and 1 portion of chips we waited almost 20 minutes. Chips were basically oven chips cooked in a fryer and were very dry. Fish batter was very greasy and left a terrible after taste. Cost £15 too which is more like restaurant prices not a dirty takeaway. The outside seating area wasn't very well kept. Every table was dirty and needed jet washing. Due to being completely starving and everywhere else was full we thought this place would fit the bill. How wrong could we have been. Chips went in the bin as they were disgusting. This place should be closed down ASAP.

Trying to find a chippy on 1st january and all was closed apart from this one. So we decided to try, very bad desision over £20 for 2 sausage and chips amd 1 chip batch. First red flag the girl on the till didnt even know if there was stock for rhos simple order. When we recived the food, the shock on out face fpr the pittiful about of chips and over fryer sausage. There are better places in Llandudno, I feel like this place is only here for the tourists. The chips are frozen from a wholesaler, not chippy chips and you are paying a premium price for them. There are much better places around.

We had fish and chips from St George’s Plaice last night. £13.50 for the smallest portion of fish and chips I have ever seen. This wouldn’t be enough to feed a Ten year old child. This place - is the WORST - by a long chalk - in a league of its own. - advertises outside - "probably the best in Llandudno" - they need a white van, medics and straight jackets - must be delusional or cant read their reviews. Small fish, chips, mushy peas and two drinks >>> £17 + !!!! Frozen chips - and the fish looked like - one of those hot dog sausages - you get in a tin - with batter on (tiny & skinny). - I said i ordered fish not a battered sausage - he replied - that is fish. You could honestly fit the whole meal - on a medium bread bap. My wife couldnt believe - i didnt refuse it (as is my nature) - i said i was so shocked - i was actually - lost for words. I recently visited st georges plaice, and I have to say it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. First, they forgot one of our meals, and when I approached the girl at the till about it, she was incredibly rude, not just to me but also to one of her colleagues who was politely trying to assist me. The curry sauce we ordered was simply inedible; it tasted burnt and was unlike anything any of us had ever tried before. We spent £50 for a meal that ended up in the bin, which is unacceptable. It was busy at the time, so we didn’t want to escalate the issue, but after the fireworks, we all started feeling very sick. By the time we got home, we were all unwell, and several of us ended up throwing up. I can’t recommend based on this experience. Save your money and look for better options elsewhere. Had a meal for the fireworks display. I thought it must be a good chippy with such a big cue outside. Boy, was I wrong. Oven chips deap fried, and that was honestly the best part. Haddock that was thick soggy battered, curry sauce was clearly burnt, but they still decided to use it on such busy night made it all taste awful, apparently they don't have tubs so the chips were smothered in it. Their prices are ridiculous for what you get, and to top it all off, they've overcharged me by around £5. Needless to say, we're never going there again

El gran cartel en la puerta que dice “probablemente el mejor fish and chips en Llandudno” creo que escribieron “peor” mal. Fuimos a almorzar y pedimos un pastel de pescado con patatas fritas y una salchicha con patatas fritas. Solo para que me dijeran de inmediato que no tenían salchichas ni pasteles de pescado. Un poco de bandera roja para un chippy 😂 🙈 así que pedimos papas fritas dos veces y 2 bebidas. Pedimos una coca y una Fanta y puso una Fanta en el mostrador y preguntó ¿es todo lo que quieres? Así que dijimos que no, pedimos una coca-cola también solo para que nos dijeran “no tenemos coca-cola”, así que pedí una Pepsi en su lugar, inicialmente no se dijo nada sobre no tener coca-cola. Después de ir a pagar a la caja vi detrás del mostrador y desearía no haberlo hecho. Caminamos hasta el frente del mar para comer las patatas fritas, que está a menos de 3 minutos porque las mesas de fuera parecían jardín de cerveza sucia fuimos a comer las patatas fritas solo para encontrar que estaban duras y no cocinadas correctamente. Los míos eran tan malos que los tiré directamente a la papelera. No tenía sentido devolverles el lugar, pero sí que se vieran obligados a lanzarse. Necesitan quitar el letrero para un primer deseo que hubiéramos leído las críticas antes de desperdiciar nuestro dinero aquí.

The worst chips I have ever eaten from a chip shop. We live in North Wales and went for a stroll along the beach tonight - though we would have a nice bag of chips while watching the sunset. Worst decision ever to come here. The staff were unhelpful and cocky and the size of the portion for a £5 was ridiculous! Chips were dry and burned and we didn’t eat the .Will never eat here again. The place was filthy too…. Only noticed on the way out! Don’t waste your money….

The fish was small, the portion sizes were derogatory, the batter looks like it's been cooked using a lightbulb and the taste was bland at best. It doesn't deserve such a perfect location and to be able to serve up such rubbish. But this is perfect for them. Their mark up will be sky high. There only saving grace is the 4g in Llandudno is so terrible, no one can get one to read these reviews beforehand! Avoid these cowboys at all cost!!! Please do not be robbed like I was.

Called in on Monday lunchtime. Was seen by a staff member but chose to ignore us at first. No sausage available so I had fishcake and chips and also got chips with curry sauce which came to just over m £13.00, which was ridiculous. Tables outside needed a good clean. First off, board outside states 9.95 When you go in you have to ring a bell and wait at least five minutes for someone to come from the back and say standard or large. I ask what they s the difference, with the reply up to you. So I say standard. Then I was ask d for 12.95. When I pointed out the board states 9.95 I’m told that’s for a little fish. The board does not say this outside. So I pay the 12.95. Ten minutes later a call is shouted for me to collect. I couldn’t believe it!!! There was only about a dozen chips, I ask ‘have I paid 12.95 for this?’ And the server would not even give us a wooden fork, said they had none, but others got them, before and after. I believe we never got one because we questioned the price and the lack of chips. While waiting, a lot of people stopped to look at the advertised board then went in and ordered. Waiting outside for their order a lot of people where grumbling and disgusted with the difference between the board and the charge, people sad they didn’t like to complain but a lot of complaining was going on outside plus everyone complained to others about the size of their portions. Total ripoff!!!

Walked in and no one was at the front of the shop. Someone in the back who took 10 minutes to take our order. Had no change in the till so had to find the exact change. Food didn't take too long to come out but when it did it was shocking. Frozen chips, an awful beef sausage and lumpy gravy. We ate barely half of the food and paid £22. Would not recommend at all. Was considering feeding to the seagulls but didn't even think they would appreciate it!

This is not even a joke. Overpriced fish and chips where the fish is the tiniest sliver that makes Bird's Eye Fish Fingers look premium. The owners claimed chips were made on site from actual potatoes; they absolutely are not! Not a single bit of that meal for edible, which had to be thrown in the nearest bin. We informed the owners we will be leaving a review, they said they don't care about reviews and to go ahead because they know they can rip off so many unsuspecting tourists that negative reviews wouldn't impact their business. I beg of you. Please please please don't eat here.

First visit to the shop and Iit will be my last. The lad seving was clueless, slow and looked like he didn't want to be there. A few people inside ordering food and to be told it was cash only. One customer went and got some cash from the ATM and returned only to be told they had no change. I was told the same and when I asked him what he was going to do (maybe go and get some change) he shrugged his shoulders and said people should have the correct change themselves. When I questioned him regarding the cash only information, he told me there was a sign on the window. I did check and the sign stated "we take cash" hmmmm not quite the same eh. That joke of a shop must have lost many customers that day due to an absolute shambles of man management. If you are going to have cash only it might, just might be a good idea to have a decent float of change, and having a few signs displaying CASH ONLY.

When I Came across this chip shop, I went in the warming cabinets where empty. Oh, are you closed I asked? Oh, no, trade is slow at this time of day, so every order is cooked FRESH the guy told me. Oh great, I thought. Take a seat outdide he said I'll call you when your order is done."" Well there is two false statements to start with "cooked and fresh" the chips I'm sure where oven chips they obviously hadn't seen a frier (at least not today) they where so dry and tasteless. The fish had what ill discribe as an overcoat on of some sort of rubbery excuse for batter. Certainly not the lovely crispy texture associated with fried fish this was absolutely horrible. And the cost for this displeasure was £24 for 1 x small fish and chips and 1 x medium fish and chips (these terms I use very loosely) please, please give this place a wide berth.

Really strange place. Told us that next door Cafe was owned by same people and had more options if we didn't just want fish and chips. We then ordered fish and chips from here and a jacket potato from next door only to be told that we couldn't sit outside their cafe with the fish and chips and we couldn't sit outside the fish chips shop with the jacket potato. They later even said that both businesses weren't related and not sure who said that when the lady was standing right there lol. Absolutely rubbish service and food. Just look at the "famous cod" that we ordered. I ordered a chicken burger and they refused to put sauce INSIDE THE burger, they said that they don't put sauce in burgers. Spent £30 which was a waste. Would NEVER go here again. Don't even trust their "halal certificate".

Looking for a nice, crispy perfectly cooked fish and chips then avoid this plaice at all costs however if being served by rude and downright disrespectful staff is more up your street then this plaice is perfect for you. Staff: No communication or customer service skills, while our group were waiting for our food out of the way of the queue we were rudely grunted at to move outside into the rain. Food: Overpriced overcooked fish. Facilities: Eating area was littered with wooden forks which made the whole eating experience very disappointing and very off putting.

Please please if you have any value for your money please don't go here. The staff is so rude. My husband ordered burger and they put absolutely "no" sauce in it. When he asked for sauce they said that he has to pay for the sauce. My fish was the worst thing ever I had to throw my whole portion because I was worried I'll get food poisoning. Wanted to take it back for the refund but my husband stopped me as the staff was too rude before and he didn't want confrontations. Lesson learned: don't go anywhere before checking the reviews first.

Very poor customer service, staff are rude and abrupt. They charge a large amount of money but give smaller portioned sized foods. Staff asked me to wait outside whilst food is being prepared and after 10 mins I noticed my food was on the counter and had gone cold. Staff couldn't be bothered to call me in to collect food. The fish & chips and beef chilli is bland, over-priced and not value for money. Overall a pathetic and horrible experience as a customer. This is my first and last visit at this place as it's one of the most rubbish fish & chips places i've tried. 😡

Rip off place avoid at all cost...got two fish and chips cost us £20 not worth it for the money looks like child portion...paying more but not valued for its money....the customer service is rude .a vile guy served who doesn’t have a little customer service experience ..so guys avoid this place

After eating, I got gastroenteritis and really lay in bed for an afternoon and couldn't get out of the toilet for 1 meter. Both of them had such symptoms at the same time. Delayed all the next trips. And it was twice the price of fish chips at the dock. If you read this review and go to eat it It's really crazy

Avoid at all cost! Attended on sunday during victorian extravaganza and was looking forward to a chippy, decided that we would support a local business rather than the stands...what a mistake!! £28 for fish and chips and a large portion of chips with 2 sausages. The chips were obviously frozen chips that had been chucked in the fryer, the sausage was not much better and the fish was full of bones. The worst chipshop i have ever been to!!

Price a rip off and not even proper chips

Don’t go £12.50 for fish and chips. Disgusting price and disgusting food. However the seagulls enjoyed it as not for human consumption.
