We were directed here by the Hotel next door who were not serving food till 5pm. We walked into this very old interesting church to be met by some very friendly locals who made us very welcome. The building is being renovated so don't expect to find a fully functioning café, They offered us a meal deal of soup and a roll, a slice of cake and a coffee for £5 it was all served very nicely by the locals. If your passing give it a try to support their work. The soup and cake was delicious and a bargain at £5.

We had the pleasure of stopping here for some refreshments this morning. It was made much more special to us to meet the minister who is renovating the building. He told us a little of his very interesting life. Good luck with the future work. Hope we get back this way again sometime to hear more of your travels. My coffee and cake were lovely. My husband enjoyed the sandwich and cake too. Fresh and delicious.

Outside seating and plenty of room inside. A large area is still being built and St Aidan's is being fathfully restored from its previously ruinous condition. Lots of books to read, interpretation boards describe the work done so far on the church and items such as socks are for sale. Somewhat eccentric in a pleasant and refreshing way. The food was fresh and well presented. A few local books for sale.

I live this wee hidden gem of a café. I visited in 2018 and was cycling through Morebattle again this month hoping it would be open...and it was. I had remembered sitting out in the sun enjoying a coffee and the lovely welcoming atmosphere. It is still the same. Even the sun was still shining. It is not in the centre of the village. It is the last building en route to Town Yetholm.

Walkers on St. Cuthbert's Way will probably all stop in Morebattle for the delicious soup and hospitality of the Pedersens, who are restoring a 19th century church to be a cafe and place of worship. A wonderful project, and the refreshments are first-rate.

This a a large church which is still used regularly for services. It has a coffee shop in the entrance hall. Nice selection of cakes. We had a great chat with the minister and 2 of her volunteers. Still a lot of work to be done to the interior but they should be praised for what has already been done.

We stopped by at the cafe on our walk toward Kirk Yetholm. There were some welcoming seats outside at the front of the cafe and a chance to rest the weary legs! Coffee was freshly made, very reasonably priced and the lady serving it very helpful and friendly.

Stopped here for a welcome coffee before talking next part of st cuthberts way. Friendly couple running it and seems very interested in their customers and likewise we were curious about their place. As well as basic snacks they sell locally produced crafts, postcards etc. All in aid of restoring the church into a pilgrimage centre with Christian ethos. It is a work in progress but it’s great to see locals working hard to improve their community and sustain weary hikers along the way! Tip: U can buy great st cuthberts way drink bottles here for a fiver. Their dog was so friendly too!!!

We were walking through Morebattle on the second half of our walk to Wooler as part of St Cuthbert’s Way. This little church/tiny tea shop was a welcome reprieve from the heat. We grabbed a cold drink, sat and chatted for a wee bit then carried on our way. Friendly, welcoming and refreshing!

I love unique places and meeting interesting new people. This fits that description perfectly. This couple was so lovely and we loved hearing about their renovations of this beautiful old church from the 1800s!

We stopped for a cup of tea whilst walking on St Cuthberts Way. We were greeted by the dog - whose duty it is to say hello to all new guests before climbing back into his basket. We had two large pots of tea and two pieces of cake and an interesting conversation with the owners who are restoring the building as part of a community interest company. Prices were very, very reasonable. Tea, conversation - and the opportunity to help a new venture on its way ...

A very warm welcome from the couple trying to restore the former St. Aidan's Chapel into a local Community venue as well as a place for spiritual contemplation. Excellent tea & coffee with the additional benefit of a small selection of plants for sale as well as hand-knitted Hebridean hats, socks & gloves plus a local wood turner's fine efforts. Well worthy of a stop, either if just passing through or finishing off the Pennine Way nearby.

Just had a delicious lunch here with the best bowl of soup I think I've ever had. I can't recommend this place highly enough... Friendly welcome, quirky surroundings and all home made food, the bread included. Worth a visit to the town for the food alone! Thanks for having us... If we're in the area again, we'll be back!!!

Had been looking forward to my visit made specifically to try this place out. Noone else in except the numerous staff all talking away happily to each other. After looking at menu which looked fabulous I went up to order as none of staff looked vaguely interested in taking my order. No sit down we will come to you. I sat and waited and the place started to fill. 3 other tables came in and someone came from behind the counter to clear dirty dishes that had been on a table when I went in. Finally someone came to serve me and I commented on my wait to which I was given a story about the coffee machine not working which was why staff were chatting. Hmmmmn really. Then as of course luck would have it they were out of the very thing I was there to have. I will give them another chance another day as the menu was interesting but the service was shockingly bad especially if they then are having to tell people no coffee! Zero recognition of interaction with customers and I speak as someone with a long hospitality career. Great location great menu but lacking in customer connection.

We were staying next door at the Crown Inn to attend a wedding in the area however commencement of their lunch service was leaving us tight for time so we popped in here instead in the knowledge we’d get a decent snack. The stairs may be a challenge for the less able however it’s worth the effort as the produce served is very good. We both ordered quiche which was served with salad, coleslaw, crisps and a Balsamic dressing (£6.50). I’m not usually too keen on Balsamic however I used some from the small pot provided separately and it turned out to be fine. The quiche itself was very good. We had coffee (£3) and tea (£2.80) which were very good too but since we were a bit pushed for time we had tray bakes as takeaway - Millionaire Shortbread for my wife and a slice of Aero Mint for myself. Both priced at £3.50 they went down well with a coffee the following day when we were back home! Service on this occasion by the two young females serving was pleasant and efficient. Overall cost for lunch was a reasonable £25.80.
