Can’t order directly online for collection in the afternoon. Have to use just eat or others who rape you for fees just for ordering.

Hard to find a fish and chips place where you can actually sit down and this place fit the bill. Fish was delicious, crispy batter with light flaky haddock. Delicious mushy peas too. Service was friendly and welcoming, although there was just one waitress for the whole place which seemed to put her under a bit of strain as orders were coming and people wanted to order and pay. She was great though. Good value too.

In absolute shock! Ordered the vegan calzone and was given a calzone w pepperoni in! Disgusted. Haven't eaten meat for over 30 years! Didn't even get an apology. Just an excuse that the pizzas have similar names! Absolutely appalling.

Fresh fish, good pizza, all well served. Recommend to stop here for a tasty food.

Great cozy restaurant with friendly service. The fish was delicious, as was Oscar's homemade ice cream. We went there for dinner three times in one week. Highly recommended.

Totally horrendous service with overpriced and poor quality food. To top it off, being sworn at by a member of staff is unacceptable. Given the review when they didn’t allow an elderly gentleman to use their toilets (after spending more than £50 with them) I thought I’d give them another go. Never again.

awful level of toppings on pizzas coupled by a rude and very aggressive delivery driver. Never again.

Down graded - scampi was frozen from a packet and awful’ decent chippie but please don’t order the burger. It came as a fried puck of what animal I’m not sure but very mushy and bland and then was served with the sort of cucumber and cabbage salad you would normally find on a kebab with out a bun? Quite unique to any other cheeseburger I’ve ever ordered. When I asked where the bread was, it was met with a quizzical look and bemusement, as though I had asked for something unreasonable. Again, fine as a chippie but avoid the above option. EDIT: Would also say that fish and chips are done well but with the peas / mushy peas - a little love would be nice? Our were the kinda grey straight out of a can type - be much better with some fresh ones done in some garlic onion butter and mint.

The staff member was welcoming. He didn't make a fuss accommodating us with a toddler. The food was okay and not worth the price. I've had better fish n chips at the same price, and it hasn't been as painful to pay for. The service was extremely slow, even though it wasn't busy. There was just 1 guy serving all 4 tables, while the other lady was too busy using her phone and didn't bother looking up to see if her colleague/server needed a hand. We kept turning around to catch her attention because we'd been waiting for 20 mins for someone to take our order. The food was prepared and served in time. Overall, the experience was okay. Fish n chips (£15.90) 6/10 Penne pasta (£12.90) 6/10 Kids mac n cheese (£9.50) 4/10 The prices on the website aren't updated.

Visiting friends who have recently moved to Portobello , we were delighted to discover a chippy that safely catered for coeliacs, separate fryer and separate preparations, realistic prices and tasted delicious, and eaten on the beach

Lasagna was lovely but side salad was brown and had a black slimy piece of lettuce in. (£3.50) Not nice. When we mentioned, the waitress would not do anything about it. Very disappointed. Carbonara had little sauce and con pesto was barely warm. Not recommended

Service a toll sham, they say cake comes in already sliced got cake couple of weeks ago. They don’t have any manners to customers person I had the unfortunate pleasure was very unpleasant I hope people who are thinking about going to St Andrews Portobello I would say go somewhere else

The fish and chips were great, but the service was terrible. It's impossible to get a refill because our server rarely came around and had waited almost 45 minutes just for the check. Keep in mind there are only a few tables sat. I don't know if it's because I'm from out of the country, but this is actually ridiculous. The table next to us came in close to us being done eating and still got the check and left before us. Our server even looked at us multiple times, and we tried getting her attention but just to be ignored. Great food but the worst server I have ever had, and I work in a kitchen, so I would know a good or a bad server. All in all, if you are planning to be there with a party of two for two hours, then be my guest. I'm not, so I'll never dine here ever again. I am posting this soon after leaving.

Witnessed racism towards a Muslim delivery driver when a customer rudely asked him to move his car, then the blonde female employee was rude to him and then an obese white male customer unleashed a aggressive torrent of abuse at him. His shouting was so loud it could be heard down the street. The management did nothing to intervene. A really ugly disturbing scene and clear racism was tolerated.

Excellent cuisine. The food was delicious and the desert simply fantastic. The atmosphere was perfect and the music was ot so loud something which allowed you to chat with your company. Though I am a tourist I recommend to the locals Scottish. Finley thanks for the service. You were absolutely perfect.

Just waited 35mins for a take away including oven pizza. It was empty when I went in the shop. The pizza was ready after 15 mins, but left for a further 20mins before I was served rest of food. Forgotten about whilst more people came in. Pizza was cold by the time I got it. Poor apology for the wait, no compensation. Just cold food.

Great looking takeaway place but when I received my fish and got into my car, the fish proceeded to jump around. I think it may have been raw.

Popped in today for a bite to eat, the food was beautiful, and fairly priced the waitress was nice and accommodating. Not many chip shops do a menu like this gem of a place. Will be back for a feast soon. Keep up the good work. 👍

We booked this in advance of our trip to Edinburgh and are glad we did as it isn't very big and was fully booked. We thought this was a fish and chip restaurant as it has a chip shop attached, but the restaurant part is more of an Italian. The menu was reasonably limited but the quality of the food was great Prices were a little on the high side.

Ordered a burger with cheese, onion and bacon and received a plain burger (no cheese, onion or bacon). Other than that disappointment, other items nice and hot and order was ready on time

Best Fish and Chips in Edinburgh! Large portion, fresh and crispy fish (and chips). They have very good Ice cream too. Unfortunately, 3 out of 4 times I bought ice cream here, the girls don’t know how much they should get for customers… it is ridiculously little!!! Oscars Ice cream is very good but i recommend to go to the one on Brighton place. I got so so so disappointed paying £5 for a tiny bit of ice cream on the cone. Not to mention the staffs touch cash and till etc then still use their bare hands holding my ice cream cone!! I would never ever come back for ice cream here but still give the place 4 stars for their yummy chippy!

Fish didn't taste that great, edible but not the freshest and batter was abit soggy , think it had been sitting around as got served instantly, 1.40 for awful tartare sauce was the deciding factor I won't be returning

lunch event, small hunger came upon us, so two soups, minestrone and portion of chips with two drinks.

I ordered 2 fish suppers both with salt and one small container with chippy sauce one one of the suppers they put sauce on and it was very soggy not nice at all and cold and the other fish chips was fresher the soggy one was old , not happy at all

Was over all the best experience and nicest take away I’ve had in a long time definitely worth the money and good sized portions will definitely be ordering from here again

0/10 An absolute shambolic mess. Had to ask 3 times for a childs meal and when it did come to the table, by chance on cutting it up discovered, the sausage was raw in the middle. Other food was cold. Wrong food items were brought to the table. Totally ruined a family gathering for my partners 60th birthday meal. Very very disappointed. Would never recommend to anyone having a family meal, there was 6 adults and 8 kids and was assured this amount was not an issue on booking and on a follow up call 2 days prior to booking!

Ordered in advance for collection - arrived and waited 20 minutes after the pick up time for food.

I was in this chippy today, food was lovely but service was better!! They gave a little boy, who was there himself, a free ice cream cone. The boy was delighted but as he left the shop, carrying his scooter as well as the cone, he dropped it. They shouted him back to give him another, even tho the boy told them it was ok. He was so happy, even phoned his Mum to tell her. He left but came back a few minutes later and asked the girl who served him if he could give her a hug 😭 so lovely!!

At least 5 staff on and the chips are over cooked and not fresh. Just scrappy wee bits too. This place used to be alright but there's no competition now so they can get away with shan scran. Service was quick but the quality suffers. Up your game guys!!

We booked for the High Tea 5-6, this option no longer exists although website suggests otherwise. You’re then left to choose from the menu and what we had was perfectly fine however £7 more pp, it’s not about the money it’s false advertising

The takeaway food is actually quite nice (if it arrives) which is probably why I have given this place more shots than it deserves. Failed deliveries on a number of occasions along with getting our order wrong - could have been catastrophic as it was concerning allergies (I clearly stated the allergy and challenged the staff as I could tell the order was wrong, staff pretended to not be able to tell and denied it then remade the pizza with very bad grace). To be fair, on that occasion the manager took it seriously. But tonight's delivery failure is the final straw. I didn't mind waiting the stated 90mins but something went wrong. It was rectified but only after I insisted, I was initially palmed off by the staff Only go here if you can collect your takeaway and, if you have allergies, watch while it's being made.
