Sqew Kebabs in Leeds

Read the reviews, seen the videos, so thought great. Oh dear was I wrong. First it was dingy and had a dirty feel, some of the salad looked like leftovers Secondly, the staff, truly awful, sullen students who had to be shouted to get out of the back and serve people. They were miserable,unhelpful and incompetent. When they did appear they sliced the meat into small dry looking pieces. The sauce was slopped on. Truly awful, there are other things I could say but the review would not get published, it's that bad The meat on the grills looked old and well past their best Where is the owner, the guy in the videos, does he not care anymore. Sack the staff mate and get someone who cares, where are the fluffy pittas with fresh doner, were are haloumi fries. It was a miserable experience and I walked out. It's worse than any dodgy kebab shop. Do not bother

First time to this place on Tuesday as always wanted to try it. Friendly staff that were very welcoming and friendly. The food was very good. The mixed meat wrap with salad was excellent. I have to say I crave one just about every day! We will be back very soon, possibly to try the other bits too.

We recently visited Sqew and were blown away by the delicious food and friendly service. We opted for the mix shawarma platters and a falafel bowl, and both were incredibly fresh and tasty. The falafel was particularly impressive - moist, flavorful, and a perfect accompaniment to the vibrant salad. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and we even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Mitch. His passion for serving fresh, delicious food was evident, and it definitely shines through in the quality of the dishes. While the menu is simple, Sqew excels at what they do. It's clear they prioritize quality over quantity, and it definitely pays off. We can't wait to return and try more of their offerings! Highly recommend plus it’s all Halaal.

In honest truth, I was SO thrilled when I had heard that a Palestinian/Lebanese inspired food spot was opening in Leeds. I had even spoken to friends and colleagues about going there for lunch together. I had a couple of questions to ask (spares me making a specific trip) and I thought I'd send them a quick email. I had sent this email on 29/04/24 and had not heard anything back from Sqew. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided to comment on one of their Instagram posts asking the best way to contact them. The face of Sqew - Mitch - replied to send him a quick message directly through Instagram and he'd be happy to help. Sent my initial message on 04/06/24 and after hearing no response, I assumed they may have missed it so I sent a further message on 15/06/24 to remind him. I write this review on 26/06/24 confirming that there has been no response to any of the messages nor the emails I had sent. I was so excited but in all honesty, this isn't a food review because I never got to try the food. I don't know what the atmosphere is like but I can definitely say that their virtual service is lacking. Sad that it had to come to this but maybe this'll get your attention then Sqew?

Very tasty and fresh BUT badly let down by the tiny (and I mean tiny) amount of meat you get. I have eaten shwarma a lot and whisky the flavours are good, the meat portion sizes are just mean. A Schwarma should be packed full of meat and salad. C’mon guys!

The best shawarma I’ve ever had. It was beautiful. Clean fresh so tasty and huge portions, the chips were crispy and salty just like I like them, the lamb was tender and full of flavour the sauces were so tasty especially the red pepper one, everything here came from the heart it was so passionately made. Thank you and the staff were lovely.

Banging flavor's service was a bit poor and food took a while but id go again just because of how flavor packed it was . Fare price

Unreal. The level of amazingness where you're still thinking about how good it was for several days after. The food is fantastic, the team really know their stuff and Mitch explained everything on offer - he's clearly incredibly passionate. You can tell Sqew is going to go very far... Authentic, delicious, bursting with flavour and a great shout day or night. Don't waste your time going anywhere else.

Easily the best wrap I have ever had and great value too. Friendly staff as well....an absolute winner. If you're ever in the area you should definitely etly give it a go

Brilliant experience at Sqew this evening. Customer service from Yasmin was superb as I was guided through each stage of Sqew preparing the Mixed Shawarma Khobez. The ability to personalise the kebab with a spicy garlic and toum base was a gamechanger and the mixed meat was fresh and flavoursome with the salad. Harissa Fries were seasoned really well and the combo with the Sqew Garlic Mayo is top tier! As a first time visitor, Sqew is a welcome addition to the North and the focus on being authentic has definitely paid off. Friendly staff and great food, one of the best in Leeds.

Really exceptional hummus bowl. I’d seen a video on instagram and had tried to remember the name of the place for the next time I was in Leeds. It didn’t disappoint. Delicious hummus, lamb shawarma and the service was great. Would fully recommend.

Great place for kebabs, fresh and very tasty, affordable prices, clean little restaurant, they do deliver so that a bonus.

If you’re going here for something in particular like falafel, hummus bowls etc don’t bother! They “run out” of these type of foods mid day/early afternoon. It takes 5 minutes to make hummus with chickpeas & tahini and it’s not difficult to make falafel so how can a food establishment run out? Do they make their food at home or buy the hummus? Terrible.

Top class. As a vegetarian in Leeds, it's a struggle getting food at the end of the night. The maccies plant based burger is terrible. Sqew is a god-send. Unbelievably nice scran, I've been 5 times and never been disappointed. The best way to finish a night out with either halloumi or their beautiful home made falafel. My girlfriend loved the chicken wrap too, hoping I've convinced her to come here every time as its delightful

A very long time (decades!) since I had a late night kebab but this was no ordinary kebab. Recommended to us by Leeds Food Tours my generous wrap was delicious, full of fresh ingredients and generously filled. . Easy to get carried away with all the sauce and ingredients but I kept mine fairly simple and it was just perfect.

Love Sqew - absolutely delicious food, well priced and always great service from the staff. Chicken shawarma khobez wrap in particular is superb.

Fantastic experience, very knowledgeable staff, extremely friendly, fantastic customer service, reasonably priced and most importantly, an amazing kebab. I had the 100% lamb donner. It’s more like a kebab wrap than pitta but it’s absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely recommend and I will be back next time I’m in the area. 5 star for sure. Best kebab in Leeds, and I’ve had a few!

Hands down the best kebab . Bang in the centre of Leeds and only a few minutes walk from the station. Really friendly staff who helped me out with the options. Went for a bowl of humous, salad and lamb kebab. Delicious and the portion size was huge so it was reasonably priced. The sauces were really tasty too and came free. This isn't any old kebab place. Great quality, lovely atmosphere and has a 5 food hygiene rating - everything was clean and kept super tidy. A great find and lovely lunch that filled me up so much that I didn't need any dinner. I'll definitely be back.

Kebabs are probably my favourite food and I class myself as having very high standards when it comes to them. So, having seen them on a couple of videos I really wanted to try Sqew. What a HUGE disappointment. Firstly there were no pittas on offer, so we were forced into a wrap which is my least favourite way of eating a kebab. The bread was thin and crispy rather than soft and fluffy as I like it. The meat was soft but almost to the point that it ruined the texture. You don't want elastic bands, but you want to feel that you are biting into meat. A texture this soft is usually the sign of a filler such as bread being added when it's made. The flavour was non existant. No charring, no spices, not even basic seasoning from what I could tell. The salad was indicative of a place trying too hard to be different. Chillied, pickled gherkins, turnip and a big deal made about the home made sauces that aren't even done particularly well. They seem to want to the kudos just because they're home made without even getting the basics right. Chips were decent and the only thing well seasoned. The reveiwers saying that this is the best kebab in the UK seriously need to get out more. It's not even the best in Leeds City Centre.

Mitch and all the staff were brilliant. The food was absolutely incredible. Seriously, sqew takes kebabs to a level I never thought was possible. Lean, clean, seasoned perfectly, an array of salad etc and all with smile. Keep it up : )

Great food but not cheap. Staff were spot on as always cant fault them. Great tasting food pity chips were dear for what you get but overall worth a visit .

I’ve been looking for a good shawarma place in Leeds and this place was what I was looking for. The restaurant is clean and the food is good quality, tastes nice and hot/ fresh. The staff are also very friendly and make customers feel welcome....

My partner and I ate here tonight for takeaway and wow! The kebab meat was amazing, probably the best we've ever had. Even better than I am Doner and German kebab. Would 100% recommend this place. Will be eating here again very soon.

Got recommended so just ordered 2 kebabs one chicken on donner ..absolutely terrible potion ..half size of a normal pitta..tea spoon of sauce that I didn't taste till the last bite about 2 table spoons of meat. £22 ..DISGUSTING VALUVE...tried to find number to ring...

Sqew is great, you get the feel that it is more authentic than the other kebab shops, they have managed to get a modern feel to the menu without that "chaniy" feeling. There is different options of bread and sauces that I have never heard...

Just picked up a Chicken Shwarma as recommended by the friendly gentleman behind the counter. Tasted great, fresh and was plenty big enough to fill me. You'll probably see me there pretty often :)
