Spitfire Pub & Kitchen in Sefton

Lovely pub, we went for a sunday roast and the food was delicious. Service was quick, staff were friendly and polite and the food delicious. Have eaten here several times and would recommend for families.

Went for a meal yesterday evening with my family; we ordered our food, wine and paid on the pub app; we waited about 15 minutes and we were alone in the restaurant - nothing! My wife went to the bar and asked if we could take our bottle of wine while we wait. The Barman looked at the till and apologised; he had supposedly been busy and forgotten our order. We sat down, poured the wine and the food instantly appeared with a second apology; my gammon was cremated, my steak was cremated, my chips were burnt and my onion rings were so dark you could snap them in half. The chicken was dry; but in their favour the egg and the sausage were OK. Obvious all our food was cooking under the keep warm plate and suspect they had double micro waved it to make sure. My wife and my daughter were equally not impressed; I admit I did not complain because I thought if staff are prepared to serve what they did; it was pointless! I know some people have given decent reviews but having spoken to neighbours I now know my experience is not rare. Advice! don't go near £64.00 wasted

We booked for a family meal for 8. Beef roast dinners, turkey roast dinner, chicken tissa masala, Hunters chicken, gammon, and a starter combo were all ordered and enjoyed. Plus desserts. Everyone happy with their meals. The manager was attentive and checked on us offering extra gravy and extra spuds. The chef Callum even checked if everything was OK and was attentive to out needs. Great value we will be back. Thank you.

this review is based on the fact that it is a pub that does food and shows sport. we went to watch the match and rugby. Had a nice lunch the burger was really tasty had snacks during day of sweet potatoes fries and chicken wings which were good evening had chicken tikka masala which was good staff really friendly wood recommend it for basic food, comfort and good staff

We came the spitfire recently and the food we had was lovely. We all ordered steak and each was cooked to perfection. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. We will be back!

Nearly an hour wait for a roast dinner. Asked for some mustard. Still not arrived after 10 minutes. Had to ask again. Some of the food was piping hot. Some just about warm. Pigs in blankets some overcooked some not.

Don't waste your time. They don't want you. Called in tonight. 6.20PM. Refused food. Come back at 7.00PM. Why? Staff are tired. They are having a break. Big advert says food served until 8PM but at 6.20 PM they down tools. Ah. Big round of applause for staff who are unable to work a shift. Maybe the boss should go to Dover. He could pick up a whole boatload who would work for him. It's not as if they were busy. 4 tables occupied. Saturday night. 4 tables full and staff are tired. No wonder place is on its last legs.

We had a club pre Christmas meal here on Tuesday 12 December. There were in excess of 30 people there from about 3.30 until about 10.30. We had a great time. The meal was superb. The venue was warm and inviting. If I may, I would like to thank Mark and his team for a great effort. Please be there next year Mark, we're coming back.

The service was absolutely terrible! 80 minutes wait for food and when it came it was awful, I don’t know how they thought it was acceptable to serve us such an awful meal ! As a result of this we have cancelled our booking for Christmas Day meal !

Very nice lunch at The Spitfire. We had the fish finger sub and chicken club sub from the lunch menu. Served quickly and efficiently by friendly staff. Food was lovely. Freshly cooked and nicely presented. Very good portion sizes and competitive prices. We both felt it was good value. We also enjoyed the comfortable environment. Very clean and warm too. Definitely worth a visit!

We had great food, drink and couldn't fault the staff. There was a party of people who appeared to be having a great night and it was clear to see staff going above and beyond to make it special for them. I couldn't fault the staff from bar, kitchen and management, all worked as a team. The pub looked great, done up for Halloween and we look forward to visiting again hopefully for Christmas.

Attended a family function in the conservatory at the Spitfire and was happily surprised. The buffet provided was plentiful and had great variety, there was something for everyone as the age range was 1-78yrs this was quite an achievement, a great addition were the chips, hot, chunky, dry and tasty. They did not mind that we took our own cake and didn’t make any extra charge. The staff were welcoming, patient and friendly, they really went the extra mile to ensure our function was successful and comfortable. I would happily recommend this pub to anyone as the new landlords are trying hard to make this a welcoming, friendly local.

Beautiful place, welcoming atmosphere. Locals friendly. Came for the sky sports to watch the Derby. We had a carvery, 2 Turkey 2 had beef . The food was lovely hot and plentiful. We couldn’t resist desserts. Ice cream, fudge cake and millionaires lovely. Definitely returning again. Definitely recommend!

What a wonderful local pub. We went last week and think the new management have done great with the place. I last visit in 2016 so a while ago and remember how it was. The staff are friendly and the act they had on was brilliant. 100% recommend.

This pub is lovely, very clean and welcoming and pleased at how dog friendly it is! We had a sharing platter and a few small plates to share. All dishes were lovely and a little better than your typical pub grub. Cocktails are delicious, made from scratch, none of this pre pour from a pump AND they are 2 for 1! Great for a family get together. They offer a set menu between 12-4pm Monday to Friday which is great I think I recall it at £9.99 for 2 courses. I had the lasagne and crumble of the day off the set menu. It was tasty and well worth the money. I seen them get organised for what looked like a funeral, they sectioned off a whole area and started to bring out buffet food which look amazing too. I am assuming they would do any occasion if asked. Good local pub, good staff and good service.

We booked here for a family meal. Just as we were about to order, the music came on. A duo of so-so singers but the volume was loud enough to induce a headache! We couldn’t hear each other. We asked if the volume could be turned down and this was refused, so we asked if we could be moved into the conservatory - no, it was fully booked. We phoned around and found another restaurant able to accommodate us so we left.
