Visited dewsbury for business from Nottingham, and stopped for fish and chips, this shop/restaurant was on the way and believe me I wasn’t disappointed, super clean and friendly staff and food was fabulous and fresh. Hope to go again thank you

We have been getting our fish & chips from here since it opened. They have always been really nice until recently. Not sure if you have changed your curry sauce and your fish supplier. But the past few times we have been the curry sauce has been far too spicy to have with fish & chips and the fish very rubbery, thin and tastless. Really disappointing 😞

Really tasty fish. But most of batter stuck to the paper. Good portion of chips. The curry sauce was strange I've never tasted a chip shop curry sauce like it. Would return but avoid the curry sauce.

I’m not exaggerating when I say this place is immaculately clean – you could practically eat your meal off the floor, it’s that spotless! The staff are friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall great experience. While it might not be the cheapest option around, the quality of the food is absolutely worth it. The fish is cooked to perfection, the chips are crispy without being greasy, and every bite tastes amazing. We went for Sunday lunch it was absolutely delicious. The fish was so fresh and the batter light and crispy. The chips were soft and tasty..

Destination visit -late on a Saturday afternoon , fresh nice piece of fish not overcooked at all. New potatoes meant the chips weren’t really my thing. The peas were very nice. The batter was OK but once again, not fully my style I know of no reason not to go other than it’s not exactly cheap to eat in given the portion size 20 quid for their giant wasn’t really that big. 23 pounds for fish and chips, half peas and a pot of tea . Nice pleasant service .

I went for the Spinners Fish shop platter which came to £14.95, not a bad price at all regarding how big of a portion I was given. Lovely food, great service and all round good atmosphere!

First, but not by any means, last visit. Was last in this building 30+ years ago when it was The Spinners Arms. Newly opened as fish and chip restaurant with takeaway. Superb fresh cooked food. Several other customers were obviously regulars, this is to me a very positive recognition in its self. Off road car park with entrance nearest the building. Immaculately clean throughout including toilets. Ladies includes disabled and baby change facilities, gents is separate. Staff attentive without being intrusive.

Reservation for 5 excellent service and food at a reasonable price. All cooked fresh to order

Bought a fish butty and no butter on bread.

Excellent fish and chips with a side of mushy peas, bread and butter, pot of tea. Good menu of other fishy meals. Friendly service with a smile. Spotlessly clean and inviting. Plenty of space to eat in, or take out. Will go again.

Was on a visit from London Great food wonderful fish chips great pickled onion as well. All washed down with a good cup of tea Highly recommend

Wow what a fabulous fish and chip shop/restaurant! We have been a few times now and have told our friends and family about it as we think this place is an amazing find. Firstly, the place is spotlessly clean and is decorated beautifully. The fish and chips are the best we have had and have been cooked fresh each time that we have been (the batter is perfection). You can sit where the takeaway counter is for no extra cost or go up 2 steps to the restaurant. The staff are so friendly and efficient and make you really welcome and I must say that James in the restaurant is just amazing - so friendly and attentive with a lovely calm manner. The menu has a great selection and there is an over 65's menu that is amazing value (my 95yr old mum pesters most days if we can go back) There is a really good sized disabled toilet with excellent baby changing facilities. With a cash machine and ample parking, this place is hard to beat. I can highly recommend - I guarantee you'll love it.

Stumbled across this gem of a chippy on the way back from Dewsbury hospital. A real breath of fresh air as the dining area is spacious, clean and inviting. Service is very good and food of very high quality. A lovely place to eat. Impressed with the pleasant atmosphere of the place and overall standard of cleanliness, including the toilets. Will definitely call again.

Tasty food and really friendly staff. Clean and cosy restaurant area and outside facilities for when it's sunny. New visit: I had the pensioners special. Three courses (I chose vegetable soup, haddock & chips and apple pie) Great value at £15.

Excellent food. Fish was snowy white and lovely crispy batter. Chips could have been browner but that's just my personal preference. Would recommend.

It was awful we paid a lot of money for family of 4 meals just for it to disappoint. The chips felt like you was eating sand every single bite it would crackle against your teeth just like sand disgusting never again.

Service good but the food we had was undercooked

What a lovely restaurant called as we were passing , the prawn cocktail beautiful and plenty of it fish & chips good but the service from the young man was excellent he was very attentive and very pleasant thank you .

Chips had been out of fryer too long to be tasty

Been around 6-7 times now, never had a bad meal, one of the best chippys around, good portions and nice polite staff

Honestly my Fish was the worst I have had from a chip shop in a long time. The Batter was chewy and the fish didn't taste fresh, it may have been because it had been in the top heated area too long. I would have much preferred to have waited for my fish to be cooked as this is normally the case in 9 out of 10 Chip Shops. Not even worth a second visit. A shame as the Staff are friendly.

The best food !!!Fantastic service

A gem of a fish shop. A lovely clean and well presented restaurant with happy and knowledgeable staff who are happy to talk with you and in a very nice atmosphere. The fish is absolutely first rate with a perfect batter and cooked to perfection. The chocolate ice cream is also very nice. Fish lovers should come here, you will not be disappointed.

A little overpriced if you dine in and the fish are a little on the small side.

Beautiful chippy probably the nicest I've ever been into. Chips were lovely and a decent portion. Staff very friendly and helpful. This place is spotlessly clean. Lots of sit down almost restaurant like seating. Ample size car park. Will definitely return and recommend here.

Really good F&C. Not greasy or soggy. Slightly undercooked chips but was still better than had elsewhere. Have used other local chippys until now. Will be the go to from now on.

Won’t let me give Zero stars. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Fish was dry and hard like it had been cooked day before, women that served us missed something off the list, not sure how you can make a battered sausage so bad but they did. Over priced load of rubbish.

Stopped here recently, as was driving by. So glad we stopped, the food was amazing & the young girl serving, was extremely polite. Ate in, but if wasn’t so far to drive, would definitely consider a new takeaway for us! Added bonus, it is licensed, so a cheeky glass of wine was had.

For the service and waiting 50 minute for fish and chips is ridiculous it's also a takeaway so we shouldn't have to wait that long we didn't order anything special either its very expensive no bread and butter or tea/coffee was included £15 for fish and chips a slice of bread and butter we'd have done better and quicker having a take away and going home to have hot tea and bread and butter takeaway fish and chips just short of £9 although the fish was beautiful we didn't enjoy the experience

Only had takeaway. They were that bad we threw them away. Very expensive chips were like a soggy ball of grease all stuck together. Would never return or recommend wish I had taken a photo but we were so disappointed we just threw them away.

Omg you hardly get any chips in a bag of chips ordered four bags at £2.90 each and they weren't even full. My 12 year old even commented that there was hardly any in her bag. I actually made a comment while been served and the lady serving me said they were not allowed to fill them anymore because they get in trouble !!! Unfortunately I had already paid otherwise I would have cancelled my order and took my custom elsewhere. We all had 2 bread cakes that we had at home to bulk it up. Ridiculous. We won't be returning.

As with Andy below, a random drive past for me and I was delighted that they not only had a great selection -- the large special is an entire fillet of cod! but that they're also fried in beef dripping -- as fish and chips should be. The gravy and mushy peas were both fantastic, too.

What an amazing little gem. Staff was attentive and accommodating. Beautifully set up dine in area. The food was good enough that my kid who doesn't eat seafood was tempted into eating his brother's fish bites. Thoughtful little touches set the atmosphere and the rest room sealed our positive experience Definitely recommend 👌

Random drive past and called in. This restaurant takes the humble fish and chips to the next level. Spotlessly clean, great tasty food especially the fish cake and at affordable prices that don't break the bank.

Gotta be the most expensive chop shop in Yorkshire. £10.30 for a small fish and chips and gravy 😡. £15 min card payment, crazy.

Went across the rd to Spinners a couple of weeks ago for fish n chips.....my wife's fish was lovely, but mine smelled and tasted really bad....like the bottom of a kids fish tank......I rang to complain, she offered to speak to the fryier ....I said don't bother, it's put me off......so today we fancied a bag of chips each, and I got a plain sausage aswell......got home, the chips were OK but the sausage had a chunk of white gristle in there that nearly broke my tooth, not only that youve now got to spend £15 before you can use your card!!!....there won't be another vist from me.

This is the first and last time, that I will go to this fish resteraunt. The chips were ok, but the fish was horrendous. It had been cooked to a crisp and reheated. I could not even bite into the fish it was so hard. Not cheap. Worst £20 I have ever spent.

Popped in for some fish and chips and when we got home to have them and to my surprise the fish was too well done the batter was hard totally disappointed won't be getting any more from here

We were passing through yesterday we went in to find people from our village in Barnsley who travel to go there and I know why 😋the ladies behind the counter were very welcoming and friendly there is a restaurant and Aldo a small seated area very well presented and spotless and seating outside even water for the dogs and a large car park it is open 7 days a week which is a bonus . we ordered fish chips peas scolopes etc and the fish was the best we've had in years the scollop my daughter said was beautiful and chips perfect.thank you .we will returning shortly .
