The restaurant had a very nice seating space. The food was tasty. I would suggest for a family to have South Indian cuisine.

We bought vada, veg rolls, and fish patty. Vada was edible but veg rolls and fish patty was not at all edible. The moment you took the first bite of veg rolls, it smelled really bad and I guess the filling inside has gone off. The same with fish patty. Overall will never ever go there cause I don't want an upset tummy.

Got a takeaway. Nice range of curries with good taste and spicy. Friendly service.

The place is well located, can be found easily on the main street. It's a corner building. The staff are really friendly and kind. Food is served quick and hot. Taste is good and the food is value for money. Ambience is average.. Would rate this restaurant as a quick breakfast /lunch /dinner restaurant rather than spending hours in it. OverAll good experience. If you're looking for South Indian and Srilankan food for a budget friendly price and good service. This is the place to go.

I was surprised at the lower reviews. I have ordered takeaway lunch twice. First I had iddyuppam, the only slightly negative comment I can make was that aubergine portion was pretty small. Yesterday I ordered chicken kottu rotti and chicken curry, both were super tasty and I'll definitely be returning.

I was disappointed with the mutton rolls, full of mashed potatoes but hardly no mutton pieces. The devilled seafood was tiny and the kothu paratha was extremely soaky. The place was not the same as we were used to.

It was been horrible evening for us. We had visited this place and ordered mix seafood stringhoppers kottu mix fried rice and chichen masala dosa. Which made everyone sick. There were no taste and no vegetables and felt the seafood has not washed there were that bad smell coming from the food. When we inquire why does the dosa not crispy the guy replied " you need to inform prior" when leaving we gave the feedback to the lady who doesn't look like working in a restaurant she was not cleaned or hygienically enough to work in a restaurant. When we said food was not tasty she replied new chef which is not acceptable. And now we are on our way to the doc for food poisoning because of bad food. This is not a place to even visit.

Very Authentic South indian and Srilankan food !! Spice lovers are most visit !!

After a long time I got an opportunity to try some Indian dish. Its a must try restaurant. They have Srilankan and south Indian cousins. The staffs are really good and the ovrall ambiens is excellent. Even the toilet is spotless. They are serving good food for affordable rates. I really enjoyed the food and highly recommending this splace. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Decent south Indian food, close to West Croydon railway station. The prices were very cheap. Must try spot for spicy lovers. Had less expectations when we entered the hotel, as we were hungry and couldn't find anything apart from this at that time. But we were genuinely surprised by the taste of the food and also by the items in their menu. There were lot of option to try out. Definitely worth the money.

Worst shop in croydon. In their menu it is written as pappad and raita serving with biriyani. Then they charged extra pounds for pappad and the biriyani is below average and chicken fried rice is good in taste.

This place would get a zero If it was possible. My brother in law got a take away chicken biriyani on his lunch break and it was the worst mistake. He got sick and stomach pains a few hours after eating from there and 3 days later is still puking. Obviously he’s got food poisoning. He hasn’t been able to eat or drink since. Reading the other reviews he’s not the only one who has gone through this. All I can say is avoid at all costs!!

Funny thing: I walked past the restaurant the first time then stepped back and then into a Tardis of an excellent small Sri Lankan eatery. I say Tardis because my initial thought was 'there are only two seats by the window, this is more of a Takeaway place than a restaurant', so I was pleasantly surprised to be directed into the main section of the venue which was set up for at least 32 people. I visited at exactly 13:00 on a platinum jubilee saturday afternoon - following a fantastic 30 minutes in my new favourite barber (@Collins Barber on tge same road) and ordered a mutton biriyani which tasted so good, I thought if ordering another to takeaway!). The restaurant started to fill up soon after my arrival - and everyone was treated with a warm welcome. Needless to say, I thoughly enjoyed my meal which was served by very pleasant staff who made me feel welcome - so much so, I forgot to take any pictures!! I highly recommend this place if you want a great meal at an affordable price served by friendly staff.

Whatever you buy, don't buy idiyappam (String hopper) . Idiyappam, sothi, sambal all smelt and tasted like heated up from frozen. Everything went to trash.

Authentic Sri Lankan dishes, far superior to the usual fare offered by Bangla ("Indian") restaurants. Also very good short eats. Well worth taking the effort to visit.

Bought chicken biryani there. It had gone bad and we had upset stomachs. Obviously, they were recycling the food. When I ordered it, they said that it was being freshly prepared, an outright lie.

Spice land is always one of my favourite south Indian restaurants in Croydon and it did not disappoint. Authentic vadai, currys and dosa with generous portions. The decor is traditional Indian cafe style rather than plush restaurant but reasonable prices reflect that. The food tastes amazing and that's what matters the most.

I think the restaurant can make biryani much more better as the fried rice and biryani were almost same or the replica but price valued

Always got food there but this is the second not happy at all Order 5 chicken fried rice mentioned specifically that no chill at all . But tasted one portion very spice so was given another portion after complaining but the other 4 portions also was very spicy and hit had to throw the food away. What a waste of my money Really disappointed had to eat boiled noddles instead

The food is edible, but a poor rendition of this type of cuisine. The small portion of potato inside the Masala Dosa was bland, and a little undercooked. The Dosa was soggy and a little sour. The sambal dishes were ok, but more chilli than flavourful. The Biryani was more like a flavoured fried rice. Whoever prepared the raita couldn't cut onions to save their life! Similarly, no real flavour. I would not want to repeat thus experience

Visited Spiceland yesterday for the first time for a takeaway, and I can't understand the negative reviews. I ordered chicken kottu roti, chicken biriyani, fish balls and vegetable rolls. The food was excellent. I asked for medium spice in my kottu roti and I have to say "it was hot!!!" very flavoursome, but the heat gently crept up on me, until, i was sweating like mad, but I did enjoy it.The chicken biriyani was lovely. Authentic Sri Lankan food at its best. Beware of their pots of chilli sauce 💯🔥🔥🔥 A bottle of Lion lager is a must to accompany this beautiful food.

Relatively bland food with little character, poor quality meat.

I don't often like take aways as i find them too greasy and lacking substance but I was desperate to find an alternative to cooking during lock down. We have used Spice land 3 times and the food is perfectly spiced, travels well and isn't too greasy. Its great value for money and wonderful introduction into Sri lankan cuisine. We are working our way slowly through the menu and will continue to do so post lockdown

Granted we ordered drinks and they had to go to the local shop, but they were swift and made sure we did not go dry all night. As for the food, it was fab we are all sorts from the menu and not one complaint and not one poorly tummy the next day. Highly recommend this place for authentic Sri Lankan south Indian food, don't expect fine dining, you won't get it. Instead you will get great food great staff who look after your every need and a not so large bill at the end..Top drawer and we will be back.

This Place is okay have some authentic srilankan cuisines but taste wise the food differs every now and then last time the same menu item tasted different and this time it was different so dint enjoy much this place is full of surprises . A variety of sea food drinks but the food is not super tasty I would say its value eat place once in a while.

Poor quality food. I ordered prawn vindaloo a few months ago and it was basically a stir fry. I thought I'd give them a second chance and bought something a few days ago and again was disappointed by the quality. I wrote email to express my dissatisfaction but received no reply.

I don't see why you claim you're open until midnight since you don't do food at 10:50. You really need to sort this out. Really infuriating.

This ain't sri Lankan this place is a disgrace.

Been a customer for them for more than 20 years. The quality of their dishes are nowadays very low. I do buy their Thali on every Friday, their quality is well below the average you expect. Called them and informed about their quality but no change at all. Same inferior quality rice supplied and on top vegetables for this is not up to the standard too. Today this caused me a very bad stomach upset. If anyone know a better place please mention here so others can benefit as swell.

Food was bland, not up to the normal Indian cuisine standards

Being a customer for nearly 10 years and the constant change in service and food was quiet visible during my last visit. all the dosas was served with completely off smelling coconut chutney. When pointed out still keeping the chutney they served another portion of chutney which the waiter said is freshly made. It was exactly the same chutney with some added fresh coconut into it. Very disappointed and wondering what the cooks or chef is checking on. We pay for good food and how on earth can they serve some thing which is not consumable?.. this place is a disaster now.

Didn’t have tandoori king prawn I ordered so the restaurant called me to ask what else I wanted... the menu was on my phone so quite tricky! Most dishes were either luke warm and the daal was completely stone cold, as if taken directly from the fridge. Biryani rice was chalky and undercooked also cold and missing the poppadom stated on the menu. Prawn puree was tasty with plenty of chutney to accompany. Delivery drive was friendly and polite but I don’t think I’d order again. Sorry

Another delicious meal at Spice Restaurant, Croydon. If you're adventurous and like spicy Sri Lankan food then this is the place to go. It's friendly, good value, authentic. The all day buffet is exceptional value.

Food taste better when you pick instead of ordering online, its very cold

The mutton biryani did not have the gravy that was advertised with it. The mutton devil was delicious but the meat was tough. The rest of the food was just above average, different from the quality of eating in-store.
