May be my personal experience but i felt the restaurant is a bit dark.. the waiter was standing quite far from the table while taking order .. veg curry is not the best compared to sarvana bhavan or other veg restaurants.. didnot taste non veg so no idea .. it must be good i guess .. over the experience was average..

First time at Chennai Dosa after hearing good things from here. Well it was definitely the first and last time coming here on arrival the service was very poor from the get go walking in on arrival the floors felt sticky. There was and old mop in the sink in the bathroom and the toilets were filthy.. the food was average and was told to keep cutlery after starters.. table wasn’t cleared and had to ask to clear the table . hopefully just a bad day needs improvement for me to come back HERE ….

Not a good place for non-veg food. Money we spend not worth at all for non-veg food and drink.

It is hard to rate the quality of the food, as it never arrived. The order was marked as being delivered, but was nowhere to be seen. Despite phoning the restaurant and confirming multiple times a 2nd order could be sent, it could not. Went to bed.

Authentic south Indian taste. Loved the menu and the taste. Staff is extremely polite. They also home deliver which is such a great thing, especially in winters. Highly recommended for all the south Indian foodies out there.

I've had delivery from here before and the food tastes delicious - however woe betide you if you have a problem with the delivery. For a start it took 2 people on the phone and repeating the issue approximately 5 times for anyone to understand that whilst the order was marked as delivered on the app, the food had not arrived. We then asked if a new order would be sent out, and we were told it would be. My housemate confirmed this approximately 3 times. 30 minutes later and another phonecall to try and find out why we still had no food, and the person on the phone told us that they hadn't said they would send new food, despite 2 of us hearing it, and then referred us back to Justeat. The food is nice, but quite an expensive treat for what you get for your money, and to be honest after this I won't bother ordering again. Beyond dissapointed with the level of customer service on over a £40 order. If we had been referred back to justeat when the order originally went missing at 8:35 I wouldn't now be going to bed at 9:55 without having had any dinner.

Please make food with less salt which is good for health and taste too. Otherwise it is good. Can be improved.

If you are a fan of Sarvana Bhavan , then stick to that. Dont order the chocolate dosa here. I ordered the chicken masala and whilst the dosa was good, the chicken masala was average. The issue is actually with the decor and atmosphere which is a real let down. The only thing I have to say is the two indivuals serving were so kind and sweet that if i go back, it will be or the service and a craving for dosa and do not want to drive to east ham.

Pav bhaji Charged nearly £11 but received 2 spoons of in baby size container in size ,No onion or lemon received with pav bhaji, quantity and quality is very low, same with samosa chat , one medium Samosa got with £11. Very poor with quantity

Dosa is nice however the noodles is not good at all but the manager is so kind and remove the dish from the bill since i hardly touch the portion & he visit to our table to review about noodles which I have explained to him well.

Keeping it short: I tried the Medu Vada, Idli Sambar, Mysore Masala Dosa and the motichoor laddu. The taste was Authentic and delicious. Would definitely recommend it for their south Indian menu. The motichoor laddu literally had the flavour we get in temple prasads 😅, so that was a bit nostalgic and connected more to the home country.

Chennai Dosa is always great - and it is open all afternoon 👍🏼 My recommendation is to order a selection of dishes and share them. Don't worry about starters first and all the mains coming out together - just ask them to bring the dishes out whenever chef has them ready 🙏🏾

Had, schezwan vegetable fried rice and was extremely spicy. And that happened twice recently. Worst experience ever.

Great food and service in a "canteen style" setting. The ambience can use a bit of work (feels like eating in a bingo hall), but the food and service are second to none. We tried vada, dosa as well as paneer manchurian, and all were very nice. Taking away 1 star due to ambience alone. Please note there is no parking around

Service and ambience was good if not the best. Ordered tandoori chicken took ages to come except it was sauted in a ton of oil with bell peppers. Tasted more like Chinese cholli chicken. Staff apologised and said people usually liked it that way.

On a day we were craving Pani Puri we found this cheeky gem in South Croydon. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the amazing Akass, who gave us the most incredible service. We are vegan and he made sure everything we asked about on the menu was described perfectly, also the chefs in the kitchen bent over backwards to make our dishes cruelty free without any hesitation. Dishes ordered : Pani Puri - delicious but could have had more filling. 🍃 Mushroom Manchurian - Absolute taste sensation 🍄 Chilli and coriander Dosa - South Indian delight 🔥 Tarka Dal - Delicate and so moreish 🥘 Poppadom Masala - tasty and firey twist on a classic 🌶️ Bill 💵 - £45 Bonus points - +10 for Service The only small downside was the Manchurian portion, I would have hoped for more considering the price. Non the less absolutely quality munch! 👌🏻

The very basic atmosphere might make you think you've made a mistake but that's because they put all their effort into the food and the service. Helpful, attentive, and friendly staff made the dinner better, and the food was just amazing. We tried the chicken and prawn dosas as well as masala dosa that were all great - but the paneer manchurian and vadas were the best items we tried, along with the South Indian style filter coffee. One of my favourite places in Croydon.

Real Indian food with authentic taste. Delicious street style food. We had a few starters and mostly dosas or curry to follow which were all delicious. I picked a chicken masala dosa and give it a 10/10. Also service was direct friendly and accommodating. They were lovely to run out of the restaurant chasing one of us down as I had left behind my reading glasses. Good people.

Order came very late and when called the restaurant for information and was told to contact JustEat which is odd because its the restaurant that handles the delivery. The food was cold and not properly packed and tasted bland. I always ordered from Chennai Dosa and am a regular customer but I felt let down this time.

I loved their mutton masala dosa and breakfast thali with amazing pongal and dosas. While everything else is nice, the place doesn’t have much of an ambience, just casual sitting inside a big hall.

Ordered from here for the first time on Ubereats, got the order quickly and food tasted fantastic, really authentic. It’s hard when you order dosa as it’s always best fresh, so we popped our stuffed dosa in the oven for about 5 mins and it was perfect. Really hit the spot for the South Indian food craving I had after my travels. We ordered the Masala Dosa, Palak Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala (we know not really an Indian dish but v tasty all the same!) and Rasam. The menu doesn’t t make it easy to figure out what’s in each dish but they separate the menu to show vegetarian options, but if you don’t know Indian dishes and you have dietary requirements this maybe an issue.

Food was not prepared well specially Sambar wasn’t prepared well. Both Sambar Vadai and Simple Sambar (given with Dosa) were having very less salt and spices.

Good South Indian Food. That's how this can be described. You will get the classic dosas, idlis and Wadai with Sambhar ans Chutney also a good variety of meat, chicken and fish for starters and Mains. Comfort food, has a taste of the Indian kitchen. They also a good drinks list. You will get a choice of beers and all spirits. Some interesting Indian local drinks too. However, it can be a bit hit and miss at times. But nothing to stop us from going back. Service is consistent, food arrives when ready. Mostly sharing plates. Atmosphere is basic and clean. Recommendation- Gobhi 65 and Khuska

This is the first time we ordered and unfortunately We did not like the taste of any items, sorry..

I visited the place last year while I was pregnant.I can still feel the taste of the dishes, such an authentic flavour of south Indian dish. Its 2 hours drive from my place.But will definitely visit again. Fish curry is a must try, in case one loves to taste hometown flavour and have a mouth watering moment. Thank you Chef 😊

Customer service is bad . The staff was didn’t respect for customer we are waiting . I think staff name is raja. To restaurant we are came for dine in . They not respect properly. So we leave the restaurant

Had lunch on 20th January with family and friends, Nice hospitality and never had a Non-Veg taste in UK. Tried Chicken 65, Mutton Biriyani, Mutton Chukka, Veg Thali and other foods all are excellant. Thanks to Mr. Ravi

Just loooove the food! The south Indian spread is absolutely delicious and authentic. Do try their filter coffee! The staff is friendly and although they could do with better seating, they are light on the pocket so it's okay 😄

Good place to have an indian meal to take a break from home or brit food. The parota are definetely worth the try. For a starter sambhad wada is good. Lots of menu options.

Ordered masala dosas, they were as expected. The furniture was a bit dump. Apparently, the place is getting a makeover, including new furniture soon.

Absolute disgrace for an indian food restaurant- calling themselves a south indian restaurant is even more an insult to the rich culinary tradition and culture of south india. Most of the toxic food delivered today through Deliveroo went in the bin, called them to complain, pathetic excuse provided. They are cheating the british public in the south of croydon in the name of indian food - totally avoid this establishment for the good of your health, pocket and wellbeing.

I would rate it on a high for the taste and quality of the food. But the restaurant lags in the service space, where they need to improve a lot in addressing the customers.

Food was good! Ordered a ghee dosa which was very crispy. Mint chutney was amazing. Lovely masala tea.

Most of the curry's were leaked all inside the packed resulting the entire food drenched in curries...very poor approach from delivery person.

Good authentic southern Indian restaurant and friendly staff. They also do indo Chinese dishes and North Indian dishes . Overall the food was very good . Vegetarian dum biryani was good in taste but very hot so not for the faint heated

Save your money!!! The chicken tikka has 3 small pieces of chicken in it rest was peppers and gravy. The biriyani had half and egg and one piece chicken in it. Medhu vada was drenched in oil. Sambar was disgusting. I won’t buy here again inauthentic flavours and stingy miser portions of chicken with disproportionate pricing !!! Shame on you this is daylight robbery

Utter rubbish! The delivery was missing an item. I called the restaurant and they said it’s not their responsibility it’s just eat so call them. No apologies nothing. For a restaurant with a 3 food hygiene rating they are so arrogant!!!! Never again

Lots of sauce, hardly anything else. Only a few prawns in our prawn dish, hardly any lamb in the lamb dish, and the dish meant to be "vegetables" only had potato and no other vegetables. We were disappointed and searching for actual ingredients in a sea of sauce. Maybe they had run out of ingredients on a Tuesday? We will not order from here again.

Best Indian food near Croydon area.

Lately, the quantity of chutney they provide with their idle and dosa servings has been quite insufficient. Despite my previous order of three or more portions, they failed to fulfill their promise of sending a larger quantity of chutney. This inconsistency has left me disappointed, and regrettably, I won't be patronizing them again. It's disheartening as I used to be a great fan of this place.

The restaurant offers good variety of food options. The service was pleasing and food was good. Overall, the experience was not bad.

We’ve been going here for 3 years and food has been consistently very good and authentic. Great dosai, kothu and channa batura. The chutneys for dosai are full of flavour and not watered down like some places.

Go there for the food. The idlis are melt in mouth. The service might not always be great.

It was a good experience, staff is very helpful and cooperative. I had a masala dosa it was very tasty brought back memories from back home 🇮🇳. only thing I would recommend to the restaurant is when your name is ‘Chennai Dosa’ I was expecting dosa to be nice and thick and not like thin chapati. However this is my opinion. But I enjoyed every bite of it.

Three hours late. Expect a refund and the food didn’t arrive. Said delivered at 18:10 and no one came here. Ordered on Uber and they delivered it within 35 mins? What is wrong with just eat and if they mess up a small order why they running a business????

Tried South Indian and they were tasty. Only gripe is they don't provide extra side dishes despite asking. I did a takeaway btw.

I ordered a spicy masala dosa and it was delicious - the waiter took time to check I definitely wanted a spicy one and I assured him I did. Filtered water was offered with my meal. Very reasonably priced.
