I just wanted to write a final review because I had been going here for easily around 5+ years and so have all my family but I'm devostated it seems to how have closed down. My favourite was the brown stew chicken. The carrot & potato was soft and chunky, the chicken used to fall apart and the rice and peas were lovely. It would sell out within hours of opening which shows how amazing the food was. They delivered through out covid which they didn't normally do but wanted to make sure everyone got some (as everyone was craving it!) And the family that ran the business were absolutely lovely. It was a family run business which traditional family food. If you turned up and they only had the smallest bit left of your favourite dish, they would still try to make a good meal out of it for you but if I'm honest, if your a regular you know you've got to get in there early as like I said it SOLD OUT ! Going to miss Spice World 😩

Ve, no te arrepentirás. Es comida que tu mamá haría. Delicioso

Servicio amable, profesional y servicial.

Last time I was in Southampton at a fantastic Rae Morris gig I walked everywhere, seeing the same old same old, stumbled across Spice World, I hope I have the right place. Amazing Curried Goat. Reminded of this as legend Greg Dread from cool Dreadzone was talking pre gig food in Southampton as they play the night after this was wrote.

Went on the 2nd of march with my partner as we were working in the area...DISCUSTING as a massive fan of Caribbean food this is by far the worst we have ever had. We had the stew chicken and it had not seen the inside of a stewing pot! The food was obvioisly rushed as i struggled to get it off the bone and there was hardly any chicken on it...undercooked vegetables (1 potato and 1 carrot slice) NEVER GO THERE

Ive been there many times over the years and always have the same experience. The lady that works in there is VERY rude. The portions are small; I once got given two pieces of chicken in a large curry chicken. Its an absolute joke.

As a big fan of Caribbean food, I can say that this place is brilliant. Had to curried goat. Brilliant taste and a decent portion. Highly recommend, particularly if you are bored with the same old Indian, Pizza and Chinese take aways and looking for something a little different. Beats the likes of Turtle Bay easily in terms of taste and authenticity.

Been there many times because the lack of Caribbean food shops in the area . The portions are small. Prices are expensive. The food quality is average. I don't believe you are getting good value for money overall. One time i found an insect in my food. I had a bad experience of buying a Pattie that didn't have about half the meat in it. I have also been given wrong orders. Staff are quite unprofessional and want to know too much of your personal business. They can also be rude at times even if they have made a mistake with the order themselves. Would not recommend it.

I've been here a few times and always look forward to going back. The food here is very very good! Looks and tastes like home cooking. The portion size is good for the price. I always get a large jerk chicken with rice and peas & I get my fiance a large brown stew chicken with rice and peas each of these costs £7.50. I also always get fry dumplings at 70p each. Cans of soda are 70p each. The restaurant is not in the best location but the restaurant is on a busy street. Also the people at the counter inside aren't overly friendly but you get served quickly and the food is amazing! :D

I've walked by Spice World several times but never stopped to look in or pick up a menu. To be honest, from the outside the place looks a little nondescript. Looks pretty much like your very pedestrian looking takeaway shop sandwiched between even more nondescript looking chippy shops and the like. I finally went in and tried their food recently and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The menu is not too extensive, but offers all the standard Carribean fixings - jerk chicken, curry goat, brown stew chicken, rice and peas, fried dumpling and a great selection of meat patties (hand sized pastries with a selection of spicy meat fillings). I have been back more than three times since, and the quality of food is consistent - the meat is always well seasoned and marinated (with a spicy hint of scotch bonnet pepper), freshly prepared and served warm. The shop is spotlessly clean and has no greasy lingering smells, often associated with takeaways. If you're new to Caribbean food but want to try it, I would recommend the jerk chicken served with rice and peas (very generous serving) and the meat patties. I've been looking forward to sampling their fried chicken. Not had a chance because it seems to be the first thing that's sold out everytime I patronise the place. For as little as £5 to £7, you can have a decent, delicious, home cooked Caribbean meal.

A gorgeous venue is being wasted by incompetent staff. Hugely overpriced - nearly £16 for one beer and one wine. The bartender tried to mix two different pinot rose wines with totally different labels in my glass and only didn't do so when I challenged her. We were ignored on several occasions at the bar - I had to say excuse me twice to get attention when the manager (!) and another bartender were doing things like fixing one of the two tills. I challenged the prices and the wine issue with the manager and was offered nothing by way of apology. DON'T GO unless you want to be treated poorly and rudely and also get ripped off by extortionate prices in the process.

I have booked the third floor for a private event (wedding party) for May '24, we paid our deposit and suddenly the restaurant closed without being contacted directly to let us know this will happen and to give us our money back, neither to be aware that we will have to find another place for our wedding party! We keep sending emails to head quarters and no answer. YOU STOLE FROM US. WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK!!!!!!

I’ve lived in Southampton for many years and I’ve just heard of the sad news about this place that is due to close down via the Echo. It’s been a pillar of the community for years and offered food to the needy, a place to relax and enjoy all things art related. I hope there may be an opportunity for an alternative venue elsewhere in the future. Good luck.
