I hope you understand on my post this restaurant is dump all the past reviews has fake we had dinner 13 people but the all food tasteless and unhygiene in all dishes tumeric taste too much

I’m not preferring this place for food Only raw flavours of turmeric each n every dish as well as no salt in food I’m very disappointed with food Not worth it single penny

Worst food ever that I have tried! On top of it, upon returning the food dish, the chef made faces and passed on comments which was visible to us. Pathetic experience, never visit them. Staff not hospitable at all.

Nice food with typical Indian menu. Can usually get a table without booking in advance. Have eaten there a few times.

dined in yesterday for the first and I'm sure the only time- the food was one of the worst Indian cuisine i've been unlucky to have in London. Not fully done, I could smell the raw turmeric in the food, the portion size was a laugh. Service was okay.

Plenty of stickers in Window advertising which cards they take . Paid bill , waiter has a meltdown because I wasn’t paying cash . Then wanted to redo the bill to include a “tip” Avoid ,never eating there again

This is not your typical western-style restaurant, which is why I think a lot of people give it bad reviews. Personally, I loved it! If you're after a cookie cutter Indian restaurant, you might be disappointed. However, if you go with an open mind, you can have an amazing experience. Great food and very thoughtful staff!

We just called them regarding asking for menu, and they choice to start saying vulgar words and cheap comments to the small girl. They are really cheap, don’t have any etiquette.

An average place. Food is typical English and not very flavourful. Service and approach is also something they can improve.

I read the reviews and still decided to come. I am really impressed as I had the Karachi lamb, vegetable biryani, Chana masala and fried aubergine (eggplant). I agreed the portions are small from what I read and was surprised when I came, but you can’t really be that surprise given the prices. And the place is packed.

Very good food, perfect service, to repeat, very good experience

We needed a late night dinner (and didn’t expect much here as the average reviews weren’t great), but we were pleasantly surprised with three really tasty vegetarian sides and a chicken shashlik all hitting the spot. The only thing that wasn’t tip top was the service which was fine but not anything to write home about.

London has some amazing curry shops. This is not one of them. Our group of 6 (5 locals) all commented on the poor quality of the meats. Chicken was hard, dry and chewy. Shrimp was inedible. Lamb was slightly off. The sauces were fine. Chutneys were good. But, it just was an overall 'meh' experience.

Food and service both OK - no complaints but to be given a bill that was 'incorrectly' added up to be more than £50 more than it should be was suspicious and unacceptable. Me and my mate had been in the pub, before getting some food and had a few beers in the restaurant too. We were perfectly respectful and well behaved but a bit merry - maybe they thought they'd get away with charging us £164 for a bill that should've only totalled £105, or maybe it was a genuine mistake. But there wasn't any genuine apology forthcoming, so I'm not sure it was accidental. I certainly won't be returning, and if you do go there then make sure you check your bill very carefully!

Unfortunately not a lot to recommend this restaurant. Service was transactional at best, curries were bland, prices are high/value for money is low. There so SO many better curry houses in the capital!!

Most expensive bowl of rice on the planet. Very poor compared my nans chicken curry.

Poor food in now what is the only Indian in Waterloo. Without competition this place has it all to themselves, and that's not good for the consumer. The Baltic and the Madras were awful. Extremely bland. I won't be back.

Abbiamo scoperto questo buon ristorante indiano a pochi passi dalla stazione della metropolitana di Southwark ( Jubilee line ). Abbiamo iniziato con un buon papadam, poi pollo Tikka e Tandoori con birra Cobra. Servizio rapido. E' un ristorante che terremo in considerazione.

The portion were very small. The garlic naan was like a small roti. I have never seen garlic naan so small. The platter of mix grills have hardly one piece of each item. Really disappointed

Really helpful, I am on a very awkward diet and they were more than happy to change things up to suit my needs, and even gave me a discount! The food was even better than expected and I will definetly be back again.

I gave a generous 4 stars. Food came out quick. Kinda bland but the cuts of meat were tender. Service was attentive too. Butterfly shrimp starter-was good and seasoned well Lamb tikka- tender, mildly seasoned (bland) Paneer saag- bland Garlic naan-was good Plain naan- was good When we received our bill, the server asked us if we would like to add to the bill since there is no service charge. I’m not used to being asked in London.

Came here on a first date which the guy after drinking somewhat turned nasty. I went to the toilet and asked the guy out back if I could leave through back entrance ask for 'Angela' I was told to get out. I locked myself in the toilet for half an hour until the guy had left. Unexcusable when asking for help to be told to get out.

Completely average. Food is oily and not amazing and service is fine. Would I go back? No.

Very poor, tasteless curry served by surly waiters. The chicken tikka bhuna had bits of plastic in it and the other main turned up cold to luke warm. The saag paneer was bizarre - rather than using paneer cheese, it seemed to be some sort of some sort of goats cheese which made it almost indelible. At £34 a head the restaurant is not cheap either (for mains, starter, rice and naan plus a couple of beers). One of the worst curries we’ve had in London. Would not recommend it.

Average Indian restaurant, appetizers are over priced for a very small portion. The overall flavor wasn't anything special.

Nice restaurant. The older gentleman who took the position was very friendly and patient, although we had many extra requests. The food is varied and relatively affordable for a restaurant like this. You should only pay attention and ask how spicy the dishes are because this is not apparent on the map. We also did not have to wait long for the food, and everything tasted very good. Although the restaurant had already closed, we were allowed to sit for half an hour. So all together a clear recommendation if you are there once.

We thought that you couldn't go wrong with Indian but the korma was not a korma and tasted like pumpkin soup. Kinda grainy too. The naan was burnt. The sag paneer was just ok. There was also no mango lassi on the menu. The service was fine. Overall I am glad the portions are reasonable as you wouldn't want to eat anymore.

I'm really reluctant to leave a negative review for any restaurant in these difficult times, but the food here was just plain bad. The first tipoff was when the naan arrived burnt on the bottom - not just crispy spots as any good naan should have, but totally burnt. The chicken korma had this odd, grainy texture that made me think of blended pumpkin soup; it was sickeningly sweet and did not taste much like a korma. The chicken was a little overdone / dry. The service was quite slow and we were crammed into a table between two others, not much space. On the upside, I greatly appreciated that there was no deceptive "discretionary service charge" or the like added to our bill.

The restaurant looked like a decent place to eat and we were craving some good old Indian food. The saag palak was a disappointment. The bhuna chicken curry was also flavorless. The names of the dishes were very good and we had high hopes but it failed. The bread and raita was okay. The service is good, no issues. They really need to hire some good chefs to do justice to the menu that they have.

We had three dishes, all of which were just brilliant... especially the Tandoori King Prawns. Superb - will call again when we are next in the vicinity.

Went to this place at 630pm in the evening to have a drink, appetizers and then dinner. The empty restaurant should have given us a clue. During the order of a couple drinks and 3 appetizers the server asked us what was our meal options. We mentioned we shall order the meal after 10 mins. The owner flatly refused to serve us… wanted us to order everything up front. Was very aburpt and rude and refused to serve us that is when we walked out. And we were totally calm when leaving. But It’s sad to see such disgraceful behavior in this day and age by restaurants. I suggest to save yourself some rude behavior there are many restaurants around here.

My son ordered butter chicken for me. The taste was3re class and ghatia taste .yaar butter chicken may coconut kaun dalta hai.

Great service and lovely atmosphere with excellent chef skills to be able to make dishes which are not on the menu upon request. Place is also clean and pleasant.

Staff were excellent, food was average and disappointing. We were a table of four so had a chance to taste everything ordered. I know there is a cost of living crisis at the moment but the portion sizes of rice and curries really should be a little bigger. Nothing I had has made me want to go back and have another meal.

Have been coming here for many years with colleagues except for the last 2 due to covid. Lovely to be back and be remembered. Service and food still outstanding and will continue to return as often as able. A treat for the taste buds and a great opportunity to catch up with old work colleagues again.

How can a chef / manager / owner / waiter honestly serve such appalling food without question? Where is the quality control? My chicken madras consisted of a few pieces of.chicken covered in a watery tomato soup, sprinkled with chilli powder. Come on! All of the other dishes weren’t much better, apart from the chana Masala which was edible. I do not know how this place gets away with what they’re doing. There are so many hardworking chefs in London, producing authentic Indian/Bengali cuisine to a brilliant standard. But not here. You embarrassed me with the food that you served in front of my friend. Pathetic.

Seriously lots of experience of Indian food. Pretty poor this one I’m afraid. Doughy puri bread, very few prawns. Little chicken in the madras. Both the starter and main packed out with tomato pieces.

We had a very bad experience. The staff was rude. The place looks very average, smelly, the menu has 200 dishes funny I don't think it's run by Indians. Won't recommend to anyone.

Food was okay, my dish was bland but the rest of the table enjoyed theirs. Waiter spilled a full glass of red wine on me, which happens I guess, but didn’t do anything to mitigate that and tried to pressure us into tipping.

Well worth a visit if you're in Waterloo. Great food and friendly, attentive service. Highly recommended.

Although it was pleasant, unfortunately it didn’t hit the spot. There was no atmosphere. It all felt a bit dated and most of the staff were just stood around talking. The food was ok and we had very flat gin and tonic. I wouldn’t recommend really. The competition is fierce on The Cut and they have to look at ways to improve if they want to survive on the street.

Returning after Covid restrictions, certainly not disappointed. London suffers from a lack of good Indian curry houses and this restaurant on the Cut in Waterloo doesn’t fail to deliver. No, it’s not glamorous like Chutney Mary but the food and the service is great. It’s well worth trying out. The one thing I will say is take the low ratings with a pinch of salt, either people don’t know how to use the rating system or expect far more than they’re paying for. Top restaurant and great service!

Great food with good service and very attentive waiters. I have walked past this place for a number of years and have been meaning to pop in and it was a great choice that I did. A great local indian takeaway with authentic tasty dishes.The interior is clean and the ambience is authetic. Will definitely come here again.

Disappointed in this meal - although the mango lassi was great, the rest of the meal was just tasteless. The restaurant smelt like aeroplane food which wasn't a good sign! Small portion sizes and very bland food.

Food ok if a little overpriced. Service good to be fair but upon paying the bill I was asked if I had cash! When I said I only had card, I was then asked if I wouldn’t mind going to the Sainsbury’s cash machine a few doors down. Not even thinking I just got up from my table, left the restaurant and withdrew cash as requested. It was only afterwards in the pub across the street that I reflected on how outrageous this was. That said, I did comply so I shouldn’t complain too much. It’s the only Indian restaurant on The Cut or Lower Marsh so they pretty much enjoy the market to themselves. Not great but not bad either. Just bring cash with you.

Visited early July when we were in London for a few days and staying close by in a hotel. We had seen this the night before and decided to book a table for early evening. We were the only ones in until two men came in who appeared to be known by the way they were greeted with handshakes and werent told about wearing a mask as it was still necessary then! We were in the process of eating our food when they came in and were sat some distance away but still! Anyway in relation to the food it was average, we both usually really enjoy an indian from a restaurant when we are away and rarely have one bad or even average but have to say that we felt this was not much better than a supermarket bought one! So as say, average is all can say.

Visited, once again, with friends and we all experienced a first class meal, served and waited on by friendly staff. Very well recommended.

A selection of dips with popadom on arrival. Followed by Chicken Tikka, Pilau Rice and Roti bread. Everything was served piping hot and was totally delicious.

I don't know why everyone is so down on this place! Admittedly the ambience leaves a little to be desired, but I've been a few times, and each time I've been the food has been delicious and the staff have been efficient and friendly.

Popped in with my daughter early on a Saturday and it was empty. Shown to our seats but the manager (an elderly chap) just seemed to not take a shine to us at all. We were both really polite, smiling and friendly but we just really seemed to cheese him off. Food was actually quite good except asked for a lemonade with no ice and got a completely flat lemonade with ice. Asked for something and didn't acknowledge me as he stood there with his hands in his pockets looking away. Asked for the bill and he just ignored me. Asked the younger chap (well middle aged) and he said it was being taken care of so he clearly did hear me. This other guy was really friendly and nice but would never go back. Felt we were walking on egg shells. Been here a few times before and it was fine.

We are here on Saturday night, November 24. The restaurant was oppressively hot, which made it uncomfortable. More importantly the portions were very small, and shockingly devoid of Indian spices. The tandoori lamb and chicken were overdone and tasteless. The biryani was the worst I have ever had and greasy. The bhangi (onion fritter) was burnt and very greasy. Honestly, it was close to the hotel, but we should have gone to the takeaway kebab place next door. Will use TripAdvisor review next time for sure- because there is amazing Indian in London. As for this place, keep walking for the good of your taste buds. Oh, and the waiter will remind you, none too subtly, to tip him at the end of the meal.

I come to The Cut once or twice a year to meet old friends for a curry. We normally visit either Spice of India or the recently closed tandoori further down the road. Now we have just one restaurant left, but last night (7th Nov 2018) it was excellent. Good food, in good quantity and good value at about £40 per person with tip including beer (lots of that). I have no idea why some people have rated this restaurant badly. Not curry eaters, perhaps....
