Spice City in Liverpool

Absolutely pathetic service and so rude. I ordered a takeaway which never arrived. No message from the restaurant. I could have been left waiting for hours . When I telephoned them they said they could not deliver-- no reason given. Never seen such a response in my life. They have Zero eticate and are incredibly rude. They have no idea of customer service. Spend your money elsewhere . Stay away from this rotten outfit.

Came with a group of 20 from work Thurs night. Food was the worst i have ever eaten absolute insult to the palate. All dishes tasted same as meat & chicken boiled ready just to mix the sauce. Waiters no engagement with customers. Since when does a khulcha naan taste sweet. Dont waste your money at this place… i would give it zero stars if i could.

I came with my friends to try the Indian food. The staff is so rude, and the food is not cooked well. I order onion bahaji ,the onion Bahaji is not freshed and I order a jug mango lasii .they put the ice cubes in jug and full it with ice cubes. And only half glass lassi is in inside the jug. Don’t go over there. There a waste of money and time .

Absolutely gorgeous authentic Indian cooking. The staff were friendly & efficient. I would highly recommend everything, especially the tandoori king prawns

So so so so bad- seriously! This place used to be good but not any more! Its shockingly bad!! Waited and waited to be served! When we finally were, it was awful!!! Please go elsewhere!!!

The worst service I have ever experienced in my life. To the point I had to clear the table myself of the plates and take them to the staff and ask them for the next course. Waited over an hour for the starter.. then another 30 minutes for the mains... I refused my main by the time it eventually came. Staff couldn't seem to care less. Will not be revisiting

Visited Spice City for the first time in years and wow the decor is just lovely since I last visited. I have been going there for years however not since I stopped working in the Liverpool City Centre. The staff were fantastic and made me feel very welcome even though I was on my own. The whole meal was superb and very friendly restaurant staff. I had chicken tikka madras with mushroom pilau and it was delicious and flavour rich but not too hot. The meal was lovely. I could recommend Spice City to anyone regardless of whether you are alone or with a party of people. Thanks Spice City and see you again soon 👍✨

Delicious food I tried the lamb biryani, chicken tikka, vegetables sambosa and chicken Afghani. All of them were tasty.

La decoración necesita actualización. Teníamos una mosca zumbando pero desapareció cuando llegó mi plato de pato falso. El entrante estaba bien. Ojalá no me hubiera molestado.

BEST CURRY IN LIVERPOOL, MAYBE IN ENGLAND

Quiet Tuesday evening visit.. food was excellent with interesting menu. Shout out to chef Kam (??) who was engaging and obviously proud of the place. Cannot understand how despite being local this was my first visit!! Will return👍

My experience at Spice City in Liverpool was disappointing. The service was poor; our waitress displayed a terrible attitude, which soured the atmosphere. The food was equally lackluster—dry and flavorless, with burnt Saag and paratha that tasted off. Additionally, the cleanliness of the restaurant left much to be desired, as the toilets appeared neglected. Given this experience, I cannot recommend Spice City for anyone seeking good Indian food. Avoid this place at all costs if you're looking for quality dining

While the food was generally good tasting the chicken was disappointing and the garlic naan so smothered in garlic it was impossible to eat. The restaurant was exceedingly overpriced with barely any customer service - I was served children's size drinks yet charged full price. A disappointment for my first Indian in Liverpool.

My friend ordered chicken ticka masala. I ordered a very mild chicken saguala. It blow my head off. So my dear friend swapped with me.

We needed an early meal before catching the train to New Brighton and decided to come here for a few starters and a shared meal. Excellent food and great value served by friendly staff. Wines and drinks are reasonable. We loved it so much we have booked to come again.

I ordered the mixed kebab, which turned out to be quite good. However, the Chicken Biryani was disappointing, it didn't taste like any type of Indian Biryani I know. It was more like a Chicken Masala rice dish instead.

This Indian Restaurant is that good we went two night running Food is amazing The North Indian Garlic is good but there Pathia was amazing Sweet with a kick,my wife had the Spicy green massalla one night and the Jalapeno Curry as she likes it Hot they took the Time to explain what spices they use and Garlic Naan was amazing, lovely Staff brilliant service brilliant food, we will be back when next in Liverpool

This is a hidden gem if you are visiting Liverpool, right in the city centre. It has a very good choice on menu, ordered shashlick chicken piri piri no peppers, special mix North Indian garlic, garlic nan chutney tray pompadoms. Absolutely 💯 amazing food, I love my nan bread and to sum it up they use proper garlic not this usual spray on rubbish Never seen or tryed red onions chutney before but it has a special taste on its own. Had to ask how it was made Staff were very attentive & friendly, service second to none, Just Absolutely loved it when the chef came out of the kitchen with his cup of tea to have a little break and sat chatting to us about spices and types of garlic that he uses. Yes we will be returning. We'll worth a visit.

In my opinion, the best Indian Liverpool. Family feel and great atmosphere. The place gets better every time I go. The new decor all the way through is beautiful.

Worst customer service and lazy staff. They just wanna sit near the bar counter and scroll their phone the whole day I guess. Zero hospitality. Ambience is so bad. Barely any staff. Over priced but quantity is too less. As a Indian, this restaurant is 0/100. Even a store bought indian takeaway is more better than this. I regret going there and paying highly for nothing.

Ist time at Spice City, but have had take outs before which were excellent. The place is clean and very contemporary. The staff were excellent, very attentive. The food excellent. Big portions. When you look at the place outside you don't expect to find such a lovely place inside. It's definitely a hidden gem right in the city center. Will definitely visit again.

This is the worst Indian meal I have ever ever had , I was with family who I hadn’t seen in a very long time, so felt it would spoil the evening, But it was Luke warm , rice over cooked, chicken was dry, NEVER AGAIN

We decided to go with the meat set menu which was a selection of poppadums, chutney tray, onion bhaji, chicken tikka, lamb tikka jalfrezi, chicken tikka masala, rice and naan. I ordered an extra keema naan too. Food came out quickly, was all fresh, hot and tasty. Highlights of the meal for me was the chutney tray, the bhaji and chicken tikka and the chicken tikka masala. Would recommend to anyone who wants to try an Indian/bangladesh fusion restaurant.

Food was very good, service was a *little* slow considering it wasn't busy at all when we went; however, it was getting busy by the time we were leaving. Would recommend and go again.

Having booked to go to Mowgli in Liverpool we found it totally not an lndian restaurant so we left without ordering anything. Less than two hundred yards away we found a small authentic lndian called Spice City. On entering we were seated immediately and the choice of drinks was varied and reasonably priced. The menu was fantastic with virtually any type of curry available with every extras one comes to expect in an lndian Restaurant. The service was first class and very friendly and the taste of all the food we ordered was first class. Considering we were in Liverpool City Centre the bill was very reasonable and we would highly recommend a visit if you are in this location, many thanks to all the staff for turning a disappointing start to the evening into a memorable end.

This is the worst place i have ever been in uk so far, more than the food the attitude of the employees are soo bad.if i have to give a rating i will give them a 1 star rating.

Apparently they sell top quality Indian I suspect wrong it was appalling I found teeth and rotten bones in my fish curry and to make the night Evan better the waitress spilled a large Diet Coke all over me i am NEVER EVER GOING back again (chocolate cake was top quality though.

Superbly cooked food here - I was very surprised. I don’t know Liverpool well and the choice around here wasn’t great so I took a chance on this place, very glad I did. Starter was chicken, wrapped into mince- really well presented - I chose the minty curry, which was nicely hot and did actually taste of mint- a beautiful sauce and chicken that was prepared fresh. Really rather good!

Food was overpriced and service wasnt good either. Food tasted bland and didnt seem fresh. Overall experience was terrible.

When I first saw the inside, I thought it was going to be terrible, bit I think that is some of the best curry I've ever eaten! 2024 update: food was on the bland side, toilets in a right state, found a large hair at the bottom of my food, it wasn't until later that we checked their food hygiene rating: zero!

Our first nights stay in Liverpool I found this Indian on Google and ordered a takeaway for collection. Arrived to collect busy place made welcome but the staff takeaway was lovely. Returned on our last night and sat in the restaurant very friendly & helpful staff. Considering the restaurant was busy the wait for our food wasn’t long at all and was nice and hot. Very nice food no complaints will come again when we visit in the future and would recommended this restaurant/takeaway to any friends/family visiting Liverpool.

Customer service is very terrible. Zero hospitality. There is so much partiality for Indian customers. Very rude and attitude faces were shown while asking clarification on mode of payment. I would not suggest any Indians to go and eat there. I would recommend you to show the same customer service and hospitality that you give for home people.

Fantastic food! If you love a curry then definitely go to this place. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing. The menu has a great choice!

Wonderful. Cannot understand the 3.9 stars review. The food, the service and the ambience were fabulous. Ordered poppadoms to start. A lovely Lamb Tikka and Chicken Balti Jalfrezi for mains. If we have the good fortune to return to Liverpool then Spice City will also be on our list of things to do.

Worst food ever. Lots of food colour in the chicken gravy. We ordered a non-veg platter for 2, the quantity wasn't even enough for one person.

Came with friends on a very busy Saturday in November, and we hadn't booked a table , but spice city was very accommodating to our needs , we were quickly seated to our table for the evening. We ordered the pickle tray and poppadoms, which had all the usually lovely dips , we ordered 3 main meals and chips rice and garlic nann all was very tasty and the chicken lovely and tender , accompanied by some wine , which was of decent quality for house wine , thank you spice lounge for rounding off our lovely day in liverpool with a faultless lovely meal and service .

Stumbled across this place as it was close to our hotel. What a find!! Roasted poppadoms? Who knew they were a thing? Sooo good! We went with specials for starters and mains and they were lovely. Slightly more expensive than we get at home but it’s a city centre so to be expected and to be fair it was worth it. Ultimately the food was amazing and the staff were really friendly.

We are visiting from New Zealand and was looking forward to a great curry. My friend, a local had booked weeks ago and received email confirmation. Imagine our surprise when we turned up and the restaurant was closed. No contact at all from management. Piss poor.

I am staying away in Liverpool for work and was looking for an Indian restaurant to which I came across Spice City. I am normally very fussy and always nervous to adventure out and try new places but I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered for collection and the food was promptly ready to collect in the stated time! The food was piping hot and full of flavour. The curry came with plenty of sauce and didn't feel overly oily like some currys can. I ordered a lamb tikka jalfrezi and would really recommend despite seeing some previous negative reviews on it. I also really enjoyed the peshwari naan. I would honestly recommend this place as i definitely will be reordering from here again 👌🏻

Very poor service. Order came 30 mins late and even then one dish was missing from the order. The missing dish came 10 mins later but it was horrible . Not eatable at all . Never order paneer makhani from here.

Not really top of my list of Indian restaurants- choose this one because it had high reviews, not sure why? First, I must mention the toilets. A disgrace for an establishment that charges a decent amount for fairly basic / ordinary food and pretty dark and dismal surroundings. The Chicken Piri Piri could feed two people, nicely presented but pretty ordinary. The Chicken Jalfrezi was bland and uninspiring. So, as you can gather, not my favourite Indian Restaurant. Sorry, I usually like to be positive!

Ordered meals but they come with incorrect meals. They argued that Dansak is the same heat as madras which obviously it isn’t. Then delivered a red hot naan bread without a plate that ended up straight on our meals. Come time to pay, it was like we were outlaws and they stood by till we we paid up. Good food but naughty service.

Received a text apologising for my order being late, but it was delivered on time. Nice of them to be conscientious. Food was absolutely delicious. We had the meal for two. Stuffed now and couldn’t eat it all so leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch. Thanks!

I'll give 10 stars if I could for the atmosphere...but if you are serving Indian cuisine, you should give the basic side salad as well like Onion, tomatoes and green chilly. Overall, the experience was good!

Loved it! Came here at my 10yr old sons request for a stay over before Anfield Tour. Initially we went to street food but didn't look all that so, we changed our mind last minute and, I am glad we did 😁 Food was amazing, staff very friendly and nice looking place. Reasonable prices and would definitely recommend. I'm not sure why there are low reviews on here at all but, don't let that out you off, if you love Indian get yourself here 👍 Keep up the great work !!!

Estimated time of delivery given, failed to meet this with us contacting the restaurant at the 1 hour 10 mark for information. Finally arrived 30 minutes after this where upon opening the bag two of the curry's had been crushed and subsequently poured all over the rest of the order. Two members of the group have been violently unwell following their meals.

0 out of 5 Service shocking!! Food just as bad. Chicken nuggets as hard as bullets. Prawn Balti bland and had no spice or heat to it. I questioned the owner about not having green chilly in a medium Balti as described on the menu he argued with me a Balti doesn’t have green chilly in it. Can’t recommend this excuse of Indian restaurant any lower. I would rather eat in McDonalds.

So good we ate here 4 nights out of 7 on our trip to Liverpool!!! Chicken tikka Baltic was our favourite dish. Eat here when you visit Liverpool.

very over priced and of poor quality minimal amount of food.. ordered a lamb jalfrazi which tasted like Chinese curry sauce and the meat was definitely not lamb.. sent food back and staff were not acomodating at all we found them very rude will definitely not recommend this place to eat

Me and my partner both went out for a romantic dinner and the service was one of the best we had experienced, the food was brilliant with a reasonable price and we both enjoyed the evening very much

Visited over a week ago at the start of our holiday after seeing good reviews online. We returned last night also. Fabulous food and friendly staff can’t speak highly enough of this restaurant.

We were in Liverpool on a Stag do. As usual with a drink inside food was on the agenda. We drifted into Spice City and was dealt with with a warm welcome & attentive service. The food was brought reasonably quickly and as usual the pickle tray was spot on... I ordered a special Biryani, when it arrived I thought "wheres mi food" but believe me it was enough... A long time since I've had a "curry" thoroughly enjoyed it.... Worked out at 35 quids/head including a bottle of Cobra.... For a major City Bart rate.

Ordered tonight after a long shift and there were items missing from order, wouldn't usually question it as I get how busy it can be, but called just to check. The restaurant kindly offered to come back to deliver the missing items. Wonderful service and wonderful food. Can't go wrong. Thank you!

Great welcome as we walked in for a bit of tea with my dad and better half. Fantastic service, chef even came out to discuss how to make everything perfect for us! Quality of the meat was spot on and spice levels just right for our particular tastes. Despite living in the city centre we've always gone out of town for good quality curries but this is a hidden gem right in the heart of the city. Couldn't recommend it more

Chicken Tikki Masala has a weird sweetness to it, like they added a lot of sugar. Biryani looked nice but had no flavour. In general was just pretty gross.

Treated like family. What a great experience. We where greated by a lovely young lady who seated us. We where promptly offered drinks and poppadoms. The starters and mains where fantastic and the service was second to none. They served local Love lane larger and IPA. Nice change from the limited beer selection you usually get in a Indian restaurant. I will 100% be returning.
