Spagnoletti Pasta Restaurant in Camden

This pace is a tourist rip off. I ordered the sourdough carcollled bread and it was tasteless. The rigatonni to follow was in a watery tomato sauce and nothing special. As a decentant of Italians from Napoli I would say best avoid and seek out a genuine Italian eatery

Exceptional pasta. Beautiful prawns and cream sauce. Don't usually like creamy things but this worked really well. Right degree of chili-spiciness.

We had booked dinner here when we were advised that the main hotel restaurant was closed for refurbishment. It was never made clear just what the connection between hotel and restaurant was but we were not allowed to charge anything to our room. The décor was not really to our taste and we found it a bit on the bleakly industrial side. The young waiter was delightful and, with a bit of training, might have been quite good. The focaccia bread was interesting although it took several attempts to elicit the information that it was squid ink that gave it the ’volcanic’ colour. The pasta with baby squid was very over-cooked. All in all it was an adequate meal rather than an enjoyable dining experience.

We were booked into a hotel next door (arrived after a long trip into London) and our room was not yet ready. We were told there was an adjoining cafe/restaurant (which appeared to be part of the hotel) where we could get a drink. It was Spagnoletti Pasta Restaurant. We ordered 2 drinks (a wine and a beer) a coffee, and a small food item, and my husband asked for some water also. He would have requested tap water. A bottle of water was supplied which just looked like a glass restaurant bottle filled with water, nothing to indicate it was ‘special’. However, later, after paying the bill (I was quite surprised at the amount I paid), I noticed we had been charged £3,50 for a bottle of water, and on top of that a 12.5% service charge which we were not aware of. When we checked out of the hotel the following morning and brought this to the attention of the concierge, they didn’t seem very interested. So, just be aware when ordering water, clarify what ‘water’ means. Also, I have since been informed that, had I been made aware of the 12.5 ‘Discretionary’ service charge prior to paying, I certainly would not have paid it as there really was no service that warranted this ‘tip’.

The real rate is nearly 5!! We’re italians, here on new year’s eve holidays and we were able to book a table even if we tried two hours before! We ordered for starter a very cruncy and delicious Focaccia Barese; for pasta tasty Agnolotti (with an amazing taste of carbonara even if it could be little more pasta), Spaghettoni and yummy Strozzapreti (we did the “scarpetta” of all of them!!); for seconds a juicy and well rare cooked Tagliata and a flavorful Octopus with an unexpected mint scent. Finally, the desserts were mouth-watering! Everything was excellent. Moreover, the staff was very kind and prepared, especially Arouna! Best italian restaurant in London!

It‘s been a while since I have eaten such flavourless Italian food. The Cacio e Pepe tasted like nothing and the truffle did not even seem to be in the actual sauce. The price was too expensive for how little taste it had and hie small the portion was.

What a strange place. Beside the eccentric decor it is essentially a fast food pasta restaurant with pretensions and ultimately something of a curates egg. An interesting range of starters of which I could recommend the mussels and the charcoal arancini which were both very good. The burrita was not exceptional and pretty ordinary. Of main courses the mafalde, beef and pasta, and the strozzapreti, baby octopus and pasta, were very good. The rigatoni and agnolotti were pedestrian and unremarkable. With the deserts the Spagnnoletti Tiramisu was very good, the Amalfi Baba suffered from being built on an indifferent rum baba and the coconut pannacotta was unnderflavoured, so delicate that hard to determine what the flavours were meant to be. I could see the grilled octopus being prepared and will try it should I return but why bother with the other grilled menu items at a pasta joint when there is probably better elsewhere. In conclusion I would definitely return at some stage but on balance it is a bit of a mixed bag with some dishes exceptionally good and others perfectly ok but not memorable. Unlike the very recent reviews the serving staff appeared to be an enthusiastic bunch although the service was not the fastest.

On arrival we were told there wasn’t a booking for our party of 3. This is despite having reconfirmed our reservation using the online booking system. Offered seats adjacent to the front door, was rather chilly and asked to be moved. Which we were without any issues. I ordered Mussels. More than a third were unopened. I know better than to eat them in this condition and sent them back. The overall dish is best described as just tepid. Certainly not hot. A replacement was offered and replaced; but to serve seafood in this condition is most certainly dangerous if eaten. My fellow diners had pasta. Once again hardly hot, small portions and reported as dry. And rather expensive! I must add I wasn’t charged for the mussels. Which is a good job or we would have needed a discussion.

I've been here before in August and with a big surprise the Chef was from my same area in Italy. Back then the food was top notch,(Cavatelli with mussels and courgettes, Basil Parfait) this time unfortunately was completely different story. I've asked to talk with the Italian Chef and the waitress told me he left around a month ago. What a shame! Tasteless food and poor service.

We we a party of 7 for work. They have us a menu and left us for ages before giving us our drinks and we asked 4 times for olives. Then after we had sat there for an hour and picked our menu they came out with a festive £50 menu that we had to have that was different completely. We had to have the festive menu which consistented of 4 starters to share between 6 and 3 big bowls of pasta that was not great. The service was slow and misleading. The place was soooo hot and they said they couldnt do anything and didnt seem to care. No desserts arrived. Service was so poor. Would not go again

The food is generally very tasty but the portions are tiny, child-size , especially for the price. The serving staff are not well trained and do not know their own tiny menu. The manager handled our compliant poorly and did not communicate with us. She seemed shocked that anyone would complain. If you want to try for yourself (the food was yummy) Make sure you do not get seated next to the food prep area as some of the staff’s habits could put you off your food and there is no atmosphere in that part of the premises.

The worst place for the breakfast in London . 15 minutes for order and 45 min waiting the coffee. Try not to go there. Not recommended.

I like a full breakfast while traveling, but as I do not eat much meat, I always have to leave things uneaten. So, when searching for breakfast, I found this place, which also serves vegan english breakfast and I was sold. Good coffee as well.

I visited this restaurant with a friend. The food is lovely however the portions are very small for price. Waiters need to be shown that you need to let customers taste the wine before you pour a full glass and also that Parmesan should not be added to the dish before asking if they want it. Staff should be given the full service charge (currently 12.5%) but I underdtand they are given a monetary amount and management take the rest. That is terrible. When asked if I should pay the service charge as cash I was told this would be seen as bad service if it was removed from the bill. Food is great but this left a sour taste.
