Spa Road Fish & Chip Shop in Braintree

I telephoned an order through to collect, the order was ready and on time - however !! This was probably the worst experience I’ve ever had of buying Fish and Chips - WHY - although my piece of fish was white and ok the batter was awfully soggy, my partners fish was grey in the middle - threw it in the bin, the chips were mostly awful - and the price for one large cod and one medium cod with one portion of regular chips - £21.30 WOW !!!!

We just had our meal from this shop .it used to be good .but not so much these days .now you have to pay for delivery .and as for the chips well ours looked from the day before .well over cooked hard you can not eat food like that . We stoped using them for a while for this reason .went back today and I think the chips were from lunch time just kept warm .well you could have used them as nails .its not much good at complaining the lady on the phone is not that good at English .they should always use fresh chips not reheated

Paid for our food when it was delivered only to realise they had not included the whole order. Called them back, explained their mistake they said they would bring the missing food straight round. Guy arrives 40 mins later and tries to charge us again for the food they missed. Suffice to say the delivery driver is taking the missing meal back with him and we're left with half the family eating and the other half cooking their own. What food did arrive was fairly poor in quality. Dont spend your hard earned cash at this place, there are far better establishments than these clowns.

ordered meal on phone for delivery - given cost and then called to say delivery would be £XTRA - WONT BE USING AGAIN very dissapointed

Over done chips, burger not fresh, old salad, spicy wings look like Morrisons own. Price was good....

SPA ROAD FISH AND CHIPS / CHINESE!!!! Don't order over the phone using their online menu or else you will end up paying more! Ordered as it's my other halfs birthday for delivery specifically at 6pm so it would be here just after I got home from work. Delivered at 5pm. So I now have cold dinner and don't get to eat with my other half and kids. Phone them up to complain about the price increase and the absolute ignorance of the delivery time and they don't care. Have never had problems before but now won't be going there again. Please beware when ordering so as not to get stung.

For a small local takeaway there is a an extensive menu, English and Chinese food from here is always fantastic, my wife has a specific dietary need which is always catered for. Our No. 1 destination for a weekend takeaway treat

Ordered our food and waited and waited order checked waited some more got order took it home burnt chips over cooked chicken no nuggets for our daughter back in car and went back to shop was told they would re cook order what horse poo re heated chips re heated chicken (food hygiene no no ) will never eat hear again better places like new eastern in witham to eat only eat here at spa if u want food poisoning.

Once again ordered beef Thai red curry and again received chicken! Spoke to the shop and heard Chinese lady in the background say no manager here! Rude English girl said she will tell the chef.... It's a takeaway not a restaurant.... Do not use.... Awful staff and common with no regard to the customer

Waited nearly 50 minuets for order, had to ask about my order , which I think had got forgotten as other people were getting there food , staff seemed to interested in getting phone orders out, what ever happened to paying customers coming first , when I did get my order there was no apology for the delay and it wasn't even hot.

Our first visit to Woodhall Spa and our first visit to this lovely fish and chip shop. Clean and friendly. Haddock is the norm and delicious it was too. We will certainly be back for this wonderful Fayre.

The thing that makes this place so amazing is that you can get a Chinese with actual chip shop chips. Which is an actual game changer. The only thing I would suggest is doing salt and pepper chicken wings!

I have tried most of the Chinese takeaways around Witham, but spa road hot sweet and sour soup is far the best one!! Also there Chinese food is yummy!!

Been using spa road for about a year now, it's the best Chinese in Witham. Really speedy delivery and always great food. The satay chicken rocks! We moved away from Witham last week and will really miss this place. Keep up the good work!

We order our chinese from here every week and it is seriously yummy, we order for delivery which is always super quick. We tend to have the same, noodles, satay, sweet and sour and chips, best satay and chips we have ever had and probably most reasonably priced in Witham - really good, thank you!

We win in order Chinese it's the worst I've had in Witham in a long time the chicken balls or greasy but first I forgot to give me them the chips were hard The special chow mein had a funny taste it's just really greasy are not nice. Even my kids didn't eat it it's disgusting

Best fish in town ,batter lovely and crispy and not greasy. Always hot and fresh . They do Chinese food as well which is great . Clean and friendly staff which is a pleasure . Well done spa road chippy

Love this little chippy shop. The chips could do longer to crisp up a bit more but I loved the fish .....................

I'm am a regular customer as they do such nice food. Staff are always friendly and do their best to get the food out quick. Would def recommend to family and friends.

Much more appealing since it was refurbished. Food is good and, with the choices available in fish and chips or good Chinese dishes, there's something for everyone.

After enjoying the fire works display last night, we thought it would be nice to get a bag of chips to eat on the way home. There were lots of people with the same idea and it looked like there were a lot of staff on to deal with the extra custom. Well their system is crazy, you have to pay for your order then wait for 20 minutes to receive it. There were 5 staff members behind the counter and only one serving. The others had no sense of urgency at all just standing looking at us all. In the end I said to my husband I don't want the chips enough to wait in here all night and so we left never to return.

Excellent chippy with extensive range of traditional fish&chips and Chinese food, very reliable, resonably priced and also spotless clean. The staff are courteous and incredibly efficient :)My favourite takeaway by far !!!

Went here for the first time on Friday! Loved it, great portion size and good quality fish, very clean and welcoming staff. Would def recommend.

Recommended by a friend to try this place, she told me it had been refurbished, whoa really nice and clean premises with a 5 STAR hygiene rating. I ordered large cod and chips for my husband and a chinese set menu for myself and the kids. We all enjoyed it so much that we are now regulars!

Have used this shop many times in the past but will not bother again. I fancied a quick portion of chips with a chicken pie. I was the only customer in the shop. Paid my money and waited and waited. After twenty minutes I asked for my money back and left. I am always prepared to wait for fish to be cooked but not twenty minutes for a pie in the hot cabinet with chips! New owners have lost my custom.

This place we go to very often and we range from there fish and chips to there Chinese. They are wonderful cooked battered fish with great crispy chips. Not long to wait and is cooked when you order so is fresh and well for there Chinese i will not say how good it is. Also cheapest prices in witham and also the best ! Great Work!

The last two times I've been in here some of the chips where still raw when I got home. The battered fish is always soggy by the time you get it on your plate. On one of the two occasions I got raw chips they gave someone nine portions of chips which wiped out what they'd just cooked, what was annoying was that they'd ordered after me, so I ended up having to wait again for the next batch to cook. And still some where raw.
