Soya in Elmbridge

Really yummy. Me and my mum went here and we got the barbecue order where we got to make our own food and it was delicious and then we got some ramen and omg that was so good. Absolutely god-like!

I went here for my birthday with a couple of friends. My friends brought cupcakes for me and asked the waitress if she could bring it out after we had eaten. She agreed and wished me a happy birthday, as did all the other staff in the restaurant when they brought us our food! The food was so delicious, and afterwards the staff played happy birthday on the speakers and brought out the cupcakes with candles! All the staff were super kind and attentive, we even had a few complimentary maki, I imagine as a birthday gift! I had a very special birthday celebration as well as amazing sushi and would definitely come back :))

Not sure what happened here, but the teriyaki chicken was not what I expected. I won't be ordering this as a takeaway in the future....

This restaurant is on our doorstep and I wish we would go more often! Bento box selection is great. Food is fresh and cooked great. Service is quick which is perfect for lunchtime break!

The meal was delicious. We ordered sushi, shrimp tempura, vegetables, miso soup and other seafood for five people. The staff were helpful and price was reasonable.

Had a set lunch here. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is ok for the price. Nothing special. The deep fry chicken was on the soggy side because of too much source.

As a long time resident of Korea I can testify to the authenticity of the Korean menu. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff extremely welcoming and friendly.

I ordered sushi takeaway. The order was incomplete. I called twice to chase and both times i was met with a rude manager claiming it was there (it really wasnt). It was my first (and last) time using this restaurant. Avoid. Plus the food that did arrive was bland and small portions. There are WAY better places in this area. Try Hello Sushi in Walton or DOMO in Esher. Their Sushi is outstanding.

Staff where really efficient and fast the food was amazing had the firework roll and rainbow roll and kids had marinated rib eye all where really good with amazing flavours highly recommend this restaurant

We were there for lunch. The service was great and the food was tasty. It wasn’t super busy. We had a bit of sushi (just a salmon roll, so can’t comment on the sushi too much), some fried rice, beef and tofu bibimbap and some fried gyozas. The meals came with some salad and miso soup. They do have Korean BBQs on the tables as well, but we didn’t try that. Would definitely recommend for a casual Korean/ Asian meal.

For a fairly average price for Korean restaurants we got very healthy portions of very good quality food, which was all ready very quickly

The first time we came here we had a BBQ option to cook at the table which we absolutely loved being able to do it ourselves like that. The second time we both had other meals but it was all still very fresh, very tasty and we left nothing on our plates! And for the price you pay too, really can’t argue with it. Truly excellent

Decided to order a takeaway from Soya as we both fancied some sushi. What a decision! Some of the best sushi I have ever had, really fresh and delicious. We had the Korean chicken wings too which were cooked perfectly and so yummy. Absolutely 5/5 for us!

We booked here as part of the promo and were seated on arrival with space between tables. Ordered the crunch roll, chicken katsu Udon with a couple of soft drinks. The food arrived quickly and was hot and delicious, it was good to return here and enjoyed the meal.

VERY POOR SERVICE, phoned to complain about receiving cold food , delivered by UBER within 30 mins which I thought was not bad, rude manager stating nothing to do with them , blame UBER EATS!? NO OTHER RESTAURANT GVES US THAT TYPE OF SERVICE

A very small restaurant but the food is very tasty and the staff are very quick. Those are the positives. The negatives are that I ordered the katsu tofu which would have been improved by having some vegetables and more sauce. The same for the other meal - more sauce was required. The main negative was the fact that they automatically add the service charge on to your bill. We would definitely have left a tip but I think it was 25% and that is excessive!

Really very good food with a great selection of different styles of Asian food, would highly recommend. The staff are very nice and a great atmosphere.

Very nice meal in quite a small restaurant, most of us had the table BBQ which was tasty, good fun and a different experience for the children. Will go again when not such a big group of us.

First off, I must that that the food at this place is pretty good. I would recommend it to anyone. This was not my first visit as my family really enjoy the food here. On this particular visit, it took an uncomfortable conversation for them to honour their 'Happy HOUR' 30% discount. Although it was advertised in their front signage, I was advised by the owner that this promotion was not available during the festive season. I had to remind them that they should not have had advertised the usual Happy Hour of it was not available. Reluctantly and abruptly, the owner gave us the discount after explaining that she would do it this time and that she could not do so during the festive season again.I did not want to have a long drawn out discussion regarding false advertising and misleading information. Therefore, I accepted whatever was said and took the discount which was advertised.Put simply, Soya should remove any signs advertising discounts that were unavailable. In fact, their website also showed the Happy Discount as I write this review.I would not return again based on the fact that the owner was oblivious to her legal commitment as a service provider.

I visited with my husband, my meal was acceptable however his was not. Barely had time to finish my mouthful before being presented with the bill even though we had booked our table for 7:00 and this was now 7:40. Charged 10% service which goes to management As well as a tax which was added to the bill. Whilst eating our meal ,all those sitting in window seats, saw a half dead rat circling the pavement outside of soya until some member of staff came from the back and took it away. Not a restaurant I would ever eat in again or one I would recommend to anybody.

Great staff, good food, And a very friendly atmosphere. Had lunch during the week, then had a party of 8 Saturday for more food. Very quick, clean and enjoyable food. Look forward to going back, also child friendly!!

Dinner for five people, we ordered Korean noodle soup, assorted susi, shrimp tempora and veggies for five people. We enjoyed the food, really nice, fresh and well presented.Although the place was quite small, the ambience is nice and quiet. I like best their noodle soup.

Have been visiting Soya for a few years and never had a bad experience. The food is always great and the service too. Pretty much always good value for money, id say around £30pp for a very generous sized meal and an alcoholic drink each too. Definitely recommend booking in advance for busy times/days however if its just 2 they can usually squeeze you in!

Went midweek and this place was busy. It’s very popular with Japanese locals which is a good sign. We had a lot of sushi which was good but not memorable, slightly bland I guess. They have many more dishes in the menu however. The service was very good and they were quick to correct an error on our bill.

Helpful waitress and food was freshly made and quick in coming out. Kanpoongi was amazing with the bibimbap was our favourites. Also tried their dragon roll, homemade kimchi and pork belly marinated BBQ. (If you buy bbq set menu you can use the little table bbq - keeps kids with adults entertained with watching parents cook!). Will deffo be back - need to try the pho & stew :)

Visited with family and Ordered variety of different thing from meny. Incredibly fast service and all food was very good. Grill at the table is a charming touch and the prices are really good for what you get! Highly recomment going.

This restaurant never fails to please. Bibimap is always our favourite, also ordered Beef BBQ set menu, Pork Katsu Don, Salmon sushi set, and Soya sushi roll. Fed a family of four very well. Nom nom. One of the best restaurants in the area.

Our family loves it here. Great food with friendly efficient service. Try the bibimbap, it's my favourite! Book a table if going on Fri or sat evening. Very popular place. Good value too.

As a Japanese person, I used to come here regularly for fresh sushi. Unfortunately in the last year or so the standards have dropped.. the sushi is obviously not made to order and had come out of the fridge as the rice was hard and the fish did not taste fresh. Another time I had the Korean BBQ and the meat was wafer thin, not really proper BBQ quality meat. If you're going to market and sell meat as "galbi" meat you should at least serve galbi style meat as a bare minimum. Also they put a 10% service charge which does NOT go to the staff, it goes to management which is a disgusting practice and really should be illegal. Such a shame as it used to be a lovely great value restaurant.

We had a lovely lunch here. We each opted for a Bento box, which was delicious (especially the Teriyaki Salmon!) and filling. The place was busy and service excellent. Having seen some of the food other people were eating, we will definitely return to try some of the other things on the menu!

Having travelled extensively in Korea this is very much the real deal and run by a friendly couple who made us feel very welcome.

Unplanned stop on my journey due to hunger pangs. Was given a warm welcome as soon as I entered, no waiting round to place my order or request drink top ups/bill etc. Staff always keeping an eye out for the diners bit without harassing or crowding.

Wife, daughter, son-in-law and self had a Friday evening meal here 12 days ago (coincidentally the day of the meeting of North and South Korea’s presidents).

Have been coming here since it opened, always had excellent service and great food. Best of its kind in the area, and easily one of the top 3 restaurant's in the area.

The food is amazing in the BBQ option in the menu they let you use a grill which is in the table. There a friendly staff which help you with the Gill I personally recommend grilling beef and getting a side dish of gyoza

A very disappointing visit. Food was shockingly tasteless,cheap ingredients,and nothing to compliment from finish to start.No atmosphere,run down facility,grubby table,dated decor.I hardly leave bad reviews..but in order to improve,they need to be aware of customer demand.There are many good places out there! You taking up a great location ! You need to improvement!

Great place. Widespread and interesting menu - and they seem to be able to produce it all to a very high standard every time.

My friend took me here few months ago and since I am eating here very often. From outside I think a lot people think, oh what is this place and actually don't go. It is a small place and over the weekend I recommend to book a table. I love their deep fried prawns, best I have ever had or cod salad. Love chicken catsu curry. Always have plum tea after our meal like a treat. Sushi is great also. You can say the ingredients are fresh. I love this place (seriously Wagamama is nothing) and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. And the prices are good too ;)

Me dieron el servicio de eliminar de la factura y dejé propina en efectivo que el camarero me aseguraron que el personal iba a conseguir. Es tiempo de esta práctica atroz se terminó! ! !

Food was excellent, service brilliant. What more could one ask for!!! Dolsot Bibimbap was very tasty, we had the BBQ sets- one included rib eye and belly pork- the other was seafood- prawn, squid, scallops... all to be eaten as a lettuce wrap. The food all seemed to be very fresh. Also recommend the Udon noodles, and the Soya roll. We finished with Moochi ice-cream. Well worth a try.

With mid-range prices, a large menu, attentive friendly staff and delicious food you can't go wrong. Theres a no frills feel about this place, but maybe thats why it is so good.Head here late evening for the best atmosphere.

Fantastic cafe types restaurant with great service and super tasty sushi and noodles. So happy to have a non big chain restaurant serving fresh and authentic food. I'm also happy when I receive my birthday month discount email from them!

I have been a few times with friends for lunch. The menu is varied, very tasty and reasonably priced. The decor is simple but clean and effective. The service is efficient. The bibimap is worth a go as is the yukgaejang. A great place for a tasty simple lunch time treat with friends.

Me and my partner both had Tofu Katsu with some vegetable sushi as a side and it was so good! Real traditional food and could tell the sushi was prepared fresh. Would definitely recommend to anyone and when in Weybridge next I will be visiting again!

Children's birthday party and Soya the preferred choice, bizarre but true!Went on the early shift to exploit the 30% discount and it was very, very good.More importantly the children loved the concept of the cook it yourself Korean Bar Q along with some old favourites dumplings and tempura.Tendency to get carried away when ordering sushi, so the bill got out of hand but more conservative ordering and this will be a good value restaurant.Great choice, excellent food and service!

I went here for dinner on a Friday night - it was very busy so I would recommend booking in advance as we did! The staff were attentive (without being annoying) and very friendly. The food was delicious, we cooked our own marinated BBQ beef and pork on the cooker in the middle of our table. My friend who is vegetarian also had a tofu dish which she said was delicious too. Portion sizes were generous and we only paid around £15-20 per head with drinks. Overall a lovely evening and will definitely return!!

The food is good and the bbq option is a fun novelty. The problem is the setting, it just does not work. You are looking/hoping for a more intimate setting but soon realise you are essentially in a cafe. The way the staff acts cements this view. With a different approach to the lighting and decor and trained respectful staff, this could actually be a regular but not before.

I eat here regularly between 5.30 and 6.30pm to get the food discount otherwise I find the restaurant quite pricey.

Busy restaurant, korean food is good, japannes food is average , service got room for improvement , not cheap

The food was good and value for money. The staff needs a bit of training in regards to being friendly and a smile.

Nearly two years after my first review, Soya remains consistent in its quality, balanced pricing and efficient service. I recently took a couple of work colleagues for lunch and their opinion was also very favorable. Weybridge is not exactly the Mecca of affordable cousine, so given the choices for economy meals, I still think that in Soya you get great value for your money.

Watch the small print on the 30% off evening meal deal during the week. We arrived 15 minutes in advance of the 6.30pm cut off for the promotion, but they charged us full price. They claimed our order was placed on their till after 6.30pm, which was obviously down to them being busy that night and not having enough waiting staff to take and process orders. A less than genuine technicality we felt. So as not to cause offence to other diners, I went to speak with the restaurant manager at the back of the shop when I got the bill. He still refused to hear us out and honour the spirit of the 30% promotion. In conclusion, the food is good, the restaurant's principles less so. Disappointed as have not had a problem like this there in the past. Be careful if you chose to go there for the 30% deal or you could leave with a taste of disapointment.

We held our annual Christmas meal here.The restaurant kindly closed the restaurant for us as it's quite small. We reserved the place for 30 odd people. The starters were great, I had tempura prawns (very big and plentiful) I also sampled the sushi and they were also delicious. No one complained about their starters.For mains, many of our group opted for the BBQ which is a specialty of Soya and you cooked it yourself on your table, it looked and smelt great! This came with salad, tofu and rice.I had the bibimbap (which means mixed rice) it contained rice, raw meat, egg and vegetables and it was put in a extremely hot iron bowl, so when you mixed it all up it would cook all the ingredients together. I've never tried this before and this was also very tasty.The service was very good, one of the waitresses was a little moody and could have smiled a little more but the main waiter was very friendly and I got to speak to the owner and she was great, she even gave me a voucher for a free meal, which I will redeem very soon.The bill was a little steep over £1000 but when you divide it by 30 it wasn't that bad.I would definitely come back as a paying customer again.

It's convenient to dine at this restaurant as there's a car park not far across the road. I find it Nice to be able to choose a mixture of Japanese and Korean cuisine. I love Asian food. Been to Woking branch of Soya before. I was disappointed that they have taken off my favourite dish off their menu -Okonomiyaki. We have ordered a seafood stew with tofu, noodles and dragon roll to share between me and my friend. The seafood stew comes with a small bowl of boiled rice. The taste was not very strong but pleasant. My friend found it to be slightly too spicy for her. She liked the noodles she ordered. The dragon roll was a bit disappointing. It did not resemble the photo on the menu. Tasted ok but It's not the best of dragon roll that I've tried. The manageress was friendly. I do plan to return to this restaurant to try out some other dishes. The restaurant do charge service charge to the bill.

The menu is a mixed bag. I had sushi. My colleagues ate Korean. Sushi was good and prices good value. A decent place for lunch and better value than a yo sushi.

Eaten here for lunch a number of times, the wait can take a while, but the food is pretty good. Would recommend it to people looking for sushi, can be a little pricier than other lunch options but ok for Sushi.

Walked past several times and not been inspired however tonight decided to give it a go. A very pleasant surprise. We had the Korean BBQ which was excellent. Will go back and do the Japanese menu. Good quality, fresh and good price

Soya is an excellent restaurant catering an Asian fusion at excellent prices. I grew up in Japan so know how important good fresh sushi tastes. Soya does not disappoint. The sushi obento box is excellent and superb value for money. Fantastic for lunch with friends.....great menu and friendly staff. Recommend.

Let me start by saying that I don't know how authentic the food is here, but it is certainly very tasty.I think this place offers very decent value for money, we come here reasonably often with our kids who always find something they like.We have never had a bad meal here and would highly recommend the bibimbap

I visited there a few weeks ago.it wasn't my choice but it's literally incredible!!!we've ordered korean BBQ which is well marinated.Having own bbq grill is also good experience.All the food was freshly served and of a high quality.i am now out of UK but will be back soon to visit soya.so~ooooo missed it!!!!

Forget the sushi chains, I won't mention names, Soya is our favourite for sushi in our area. Great value for money, lovely well presented fresh food and pleasant staff.Have not visited for evening meals but have been a number of times for lunch and feel it's worth writing a review as it's constantly good service and food.

Lovely little low key venue with friendly staff. Not sure of the authenticity of the Korean/Japanese food however it always appears fresh, portions are generous and pricing reasonable.We always over order and therefore have it cold the next day for lunch.

We thought we'd give this so called restaurant a go for dinner hoping it might be a pleasant surprise it surely wasn't. Clientele local middle class Weybridge residents thinking they're eating Korean / Japanese food. amuse-bouche was a tiny helping of a couple of lettuce leaves and a tomato not great. The curry was very bland and the rice some cheap nasty brand that had been kept too hot hence stuck at the bottom of the rice bowl. A fair few staff on the floor and when you get served by a waiter from India who has no idea of the menu nor any knowledge of the food you know it's going to be crap. Extremely poor value for money and rubbish quality food. I've realised by now to eat a decent Korean mean you have to go to New Malden.

We went with the kids who loved the idea and experiance of cooking their own food. We had a mixture of BBQ and sushi. BBQ was for the kids really and wouldn't have it if it was just us as the quality wasn't great. Service was a bit rushed but pleasant. They needed the table for 7:30. We got there at 5:30. A bit unnecessary. Over all good and from what I saw of other people's meals I will go back and give it another go with friends.

Fine service, timely food, clean place. Get all the basics out of the way.The food here is awesome and I am so happy to know of a semi local Japanese / Korean restaurant that has a high turnover and great quality, superb tasting and wonderfully presented dishes.We're moving to Weybridge and this restaurant makes me so happy about that.

This was just seriously the best find ever!!So much variety and flavours. Pictured is my tofu katsu! My boyfriend had chicken katsu. The portions are huge and we accidentally ordered starters and mains and now we can't move!! So worth it though. Can't fault this place...we will return again definitely!

Great variety - dumpling soup awesome, spicy chicken and fantastic sushi. Prices OK. Better than the predictable blandness of Wagamamas. Terrific spot in Weybridge.

Booked a table tonight but 10 minutes later my son wasn't well so cancelled the table immediately. Not a very nice experience - person who answered my call was very rude & said it was very late to cancel & he had turned away 5 people. Even though I had only booked the table 10 mins before. I had the courtesy to call & cancel whereas I am sure some people don't bother. If they treat you like this over the phone, how do they treat you in person. I will never eat in this restaurant again. This is not customer service & if this is the general attitude from Koreans then they can keep their food! I will spend my hard earned money in a restaurant that appreciates my custom!!!! From a very unhappy customer!!!!

Went at 5.50pm with my 3 children. They offer 30% off all food Monday to Thursday before 6.30pm. There were 4 other tables taken. Three of which were occupied by Asians (surely a good sign!) We had a variety of starters including sushi roll and soft shell crab tempura. All were excellent. Our main course was a noodle dish and the Bbq with rib eye steak, chicken and King Prawns which you cook yourself on the grill in the middle of the table. It is the childrens' (twins of 9 and a 12 year) new favourite restaurant. Good service. Good food. Good value. What more do you want?

Extremely friendly restaurant. There were a group of Japonese sat in corner (had to be a good sign). Last time I was in Weybridge we are at the Great Ghurka which was lovely too. This restaurant is a short walk from The Ship Hotel where we were staying and it has a happy hour 5:30 til 6:30, I'm not sure if it is same menu as we ate late. The owner brought us some pancake to try.We will definitely return when back in the area. I had the Don Katsu which was lovely. My wife had a traditional Japonese dish which she really liked and we started with sushi which looked as good as it tasted. Definitely recommend the soft shell crab.

We had always been put off by the appearance of Soya (it really does look a lot like a cafe from outside) but wanted to try the food. The food was amazing. Crispy tempura was very tasty and the dolost bibimpap is a new found favourite.Service was very fast & friendly

Let me start by saying the food is lovely, the built in grills and cook it yourself is awesome and the only reason we have been back a couple of times. BUT, the setting and decor leaves you feeling that you are sat in a cafe. It is very bland, way too much light and I have to say that the service is really bad. 3 stars to offset the fact that the food is great. Sort out the staff and give the decor a warm fuzzy feeling and I will be a regular and happily award 5 stars at that time.

I love this place. Great food that is quite different from the norm and attentive service. The BBQ is good, with great marinades and side dishes and it's quick and easy if you're not too adventurous with Korean food. Now we've learned we love the hot stone Bibimbaps with chilli paste. It's fresh and healthy and the owner shows you what to do if you've not been there before.We come here regularly during the week for an inexpensive fairly quick meal and it's a casual dining place.
