Southlight Chinese Take Away in Glasgow City

Got chicken chow mein couple forkfull in chewed on something big and hard spat it out was like a bit of bone like spine or something thought I broke a tooth tbh. Sick straight away never knew what it was last time order from take away home made from now on!!!!

In my opinion the food here is perfect. Few places get it right like this but there's no accounting for taste.

Curry was ok barbecue ribs were off unfortunately I live 20 minutes away so never returned them

Best take away in Glasgow. They do half portions, so you can mix n match. The curry is 5☆

Came here for the first time tonight, on good reviews. The service and price were good, though the portions are on the smaller size. However unfortunately, the food was disappointing. It was clear that the oil used to fry the food had been overused and not filtered properly as it left a rather bad aftertaste. Rice seemed reheated also and the chicken was rather tough.

We just love this take away and have been using it for well over 30 years. We've never had a bad meal and never had the wrong order. Staff have always been friendly, from the lady who takes your order to the delivery men and women. We always recommend it and been thanked for the recommendation. Best Chinese takeaway.

I have used south light since I can remember my family used to meet up every Saturday and order for around 30 of us or may we more haha, orders were more than perfect lots of extras nice and hot. I have my own family now and we use south light when it’s a Chinese take out night. I wouldn’t use anywhere else Lovely people and nice food cooked to perfection every time Thanks guys

Absolutely terrible got spare ribs nothing on them a king prawn curry tasted like powder obviously the prawns had been defrosted fried rice had been reheahated chow mein again the noodles been reheated called told me that's how it is I work in food hygiene and this is one I'm definitely going to look into

Chicken curry was terrible. The chicken was hard and overcooked and there were peas in the curry! The woman who takes the orders didn’t not have a good demeanour.The large spring roll was tasty though.

I've been getting deliverys from here for the past 29 years, and all my family too. This is the only place I’ll order a beef curry from as all the other Chinese’s beef is like kebab meat and there fried rice’s have been tasteless, a would definitely recommend them👍🏻

Fried rice was reheated as if it was stuck to the container curry sauce was way to thick couldn't even taste it just wasn't fresh not good enough

Honestly our meal was very disappointing the rice was very dry and chicken was tough and it was chopped up too sad to say binned .

First time using here. Thought I'd try a Chinese more local. Was disappointed. When I collected it. The portions were small i didn't expect. Thought OK but as long as its nice. Sadly it wasn't the chicken tasted chewy as if its been reheated or over cooked, there was plenty of chicken that we couldn't eat and there was hardly any sauce.they don't accept card too so make sure to take cash. They should make this clear when you call to place an order, especially in this day when most people don't carry cash on them.

My brother ordered a meal and they sent the wrong item, they resent the correct meal but I guess the delivery driver wasn’t to happy about making another journey without being paid for it as in the second meal was something that looked like SPIT ! When approached with a picture of the meal the next day the owner told us that it looked like fried egg but it wasn’t fried as it was slimey and gooey. He then said it could be raw egg mixed with oil which I find hard to believe considering the high heat that these meals are cooked at. Before this incident I thought this Chinese was the best in the area but I will definitely not be ordering anything for delivery from here again.

Been going to the south light chinese since i was young, my whole family use it, best chinese in Scotland! Their bbq sauce is absolutely delicious and no other chinese seems to do the same bbq sauce anywhere, highly recommended

Used this wee place for years. Makes a cracking curry. Good prices too.

One of the only chinese takeawys in this area who knows how to make a good quality chinese style curry. Everytime I've tried something different from here I've been impressed. Great value as well.

many years ago this was easily a 5 star place for food, the chow mains were out of this world sadly its now poor meals poor service only good thing are the prices are cheap hence the poor food quality

The price is decent first time I've ate out of here, the chicken satay was lovely same as the sweet n sour (Cantonese style) but the chicken fried rice was God awful! The chicken was burnt n was like eating the sole of someone's shoe.... unsure if I'd eat out here again... lucky they even got 3 stars.

local chinese food is very nice well i mostly stick to curries but only criticism is portions are still being served as if it was the 80s with your main meal being served in small foil container unlike long container most takeaways use thats only criticism but food is good.

Still serves food in the small container you have to ask for a large curry but the food is good especially the beef curry the only downside is the beef is cut very small.

Disgusted at the potion ,, chicken curry comes in small tub not enough sauce to cover even half your dried out fried rice . Onion rings barely cooked enough to stop them falling apart as u lift them . Would never use this place again ever . One star given as it wouldn’t allow a minus

Absolutely discusting worst Chinese ive ever had. Only got 3 small peices of meet with a special fried rice topped with worst bbq sauce ive ever had. Chips were brick hard.

Dry chips, fried rice...chicken balls were only 1 and 1/2inches if lucky musta have been just dropping a bit hot oil to heat them as the batter was warm but inside were rather cold...i would go as far to say it was DEFINITELY reheated from yesterday!!! WON'T GO BACK AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE!!!!
