Shame it’s closed as this was the best. Old fashioned, fresh food and really reasonably priced. A hidden gem

Was hoping for a nice thick beef curry and what I got was horrible, whole thing went in the bin! Extremely chewey beef with a watery sauce that was full of spring onion and harsh Garlic, wasnt even like curry. Worst chinese ever had in my life!

Hidden gem. The place has a homely feeling and brings you back in time. Food is authentic, tasty and affordable. Amazing in its simplicity. You’ve found yourself a regular.

Menu looks yummy and is inexpensive. However, be aware that there is no dine in and they do not take card. I didn’t end up eating here for that reason.

Enjoyed a first rate meal for five from South China Inn. Each dish was tasty, freshly cooked and the whole order ready for collection at the arranged time. One suggestion would be to make the full menu easily viewable/printable from the website. Cash only payment, on collection, which was no problem. A small business doing a good job and one very worthy of support and we shall be back.

Was staying just down the road and phoned through an order. It was ready quickly, tasted good an well priced. Will certainly go again - recommended.

Amazing food, we used to live in Polwarth and have since moved away but we still come here any time we want Chinese, it's simply the best.

Really old fashioned but definitely not in a bad way! So delicious. One of the best Chinese takeaways in Edinburgh. The Hot & Sour Soup is so heart-warming. I have been going for years and long may you stay in business!

I'm so glad I live close to this Chinese, it's homely and old school, very reasonably priced and fresh, with nice flavours. I had the best sweet and sour chicken I have ever had the other day.

This is a place that warms your heart. It's fresh food, cooked with love. It feels like your coming home for supper. The lady that served us was super friendly. If I come back to Edinburgh, I'm coming here! Delicious prawn dishes, and the bean curd was excellent too.

Lovely home made Chinese food, the owners are obviously very nice people who live for their business. The restaurants decor isn't like most but that's half the charm, one of those you will just need to discover.

Great chineese food in very ordinary surroundings. Essentially a take away with 3 tables and chairs if you want to eat there. I eat there as the lovely chineese lady so lovely to chat to. Tonight I had delicious special noodles with many mixed meat and crunchy veg and prawns for less than fiver.
