Really liked this little restaurant, waitress was friendly. The food was one of the best Thai we've had in Edinburgh and the portion size were great. I'd recommend the stir fried pork belly.

We ordered from here the other night. The soup was delicious, but the Pad Thai was disappointing. Quite dry. We found hard, unchewable, and what I can only think would be indigestible skins of onion or spring onion? It was not nice and I had to pick it out of my mouth 3 times!

I have twice eaten in this small restaurant with friends. The food is excellent, the prices amazing for the standard of quality and the staff are friendly and helpful even when very busy. I have also eaten takeaway from here and their service is also immaculate. I cannot rate this venue highly enough,

Certainly best menu and most authentic chinese meal I have had and that's saying something as I am very fussy where chinese food is concerned. Will certainly stick to Soup n Thai even though it is not the closest to where I live. A fine take away that leaves you wanting to go back time and time again.

Just got 2 Thai red curry's, fantastic, generous amounts of lovely chicken, assorted vegetables, courgette, carrot, green beans and cauliflower. Delicious!! Will definitely order again. We collect, so can't comment on delivery, but the foot was the best Thai takeaway food we've ve had.

I ordered food at 6 pm and It’s 8:30 pm and the food is still not ready. Of course, they are not gonna give us back our money and of course they are not giving us updates on how much longer we’ll have to wait for. They were not nice at all. DON’T GO.

Fast service for very fresh food in big portions. Super friendly and welcoming staff, and the meal was delicious. They let you BYOB so this is a great pregame meal with friends. Small restaurant so don’t try coming with a group bigger than 15 or so. Great vibes and great value!

What more can you want from a Restaraunt? Time and time I am disappointed by overpriced tasteless food served here in Edinburgh. But Soup n Thai does not disappoint. From my first experience, it has been bliss. Since, I have been time and time again trying everything on their menu and it never disappoints. I can't pick a favourite because there are too many!

Best value for money in Marchmont. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and I’ve been blown away every time. Highly recommend.

Il locale è veramente microscopico tre tavolini o poco più, si vede che lavora esclusivamente con il take away. Ci sono tornato con piacere dopo alcuni anni di latitanza dovuta al covid. Il dinoccolato proprietario, stropicciato come se si fosse levato dal sonno più profondo da pochi minuti è chiaramente lento e tardo, ma gentile ed accomodante, La cucina sempre favolosa con il curry rosso sempre oltre le aspettative. I think this could have been good if it wasn't so oily. The noodles were swimming in oil and the curry had 1cm of grease sitting on top of it. It was inedible.

Took ages order was wrong we called they said would deliver the missing main meal the started squid was like rubber the staff were rude eventually gave us £8.40 back for missing dish which we had to go to shop for you need a lesson in customer service !! its a pity i have to give it a 1 we threw what we got in bin and got an excellent chippy from nearby shop

The food was ordered by Uber eats on the 2nd of January 2022 OK the red pebble or stone was found in the curry The black plastic thing and clingfilm was in the soup And this microwave to death nasty rice, there was something that looks like a hair embedded in it ! And after all that I hope it was human and not Rattus Rattus If someone is trying to put this place out of business there do a damn good job about it I'm keeping these foreign bodies in the fridge I will forward them onto the environmental health officer James Hunt

Amazing red prawn curry with rice, roti and complementary crackers. Ordered on Uber eats and did not have to wait long for delivery. Food was hot and very tasty. Great value and service, I will definitely be ordering again soon.

Had a Pad Thai through Uber Eats. Great quantity and price. Food quality very good too. Bit too sweet though 😐 Will try some other dishes too the next time ☺️

Had a great takeaway from here last night. I think it's one of the best Thai places in Edinburgh, and reminds me of the lovely food we had on our last ( pre covid) visit to Thailand. Good service, large portions and excellent value. It's a bit off the beaten track, but well worth a visit. And I'm half way to my free meal( after 10 orders)!

very very tasty, great variety and lovely service - BYOB for sit ins (not sure if you an book a table - we just dropped in) - I would definitely go back - only one thing I'd say would be that the portions are way bigger than you would expect - if I was going again I'd stick to their "light bites" or ask for a small portion of the mains (I'd be more than happy to pay full price for a half portion as it is very very good value). NB it is a takeaway with tables so no toilets (didn't bother us as we are local but I thought it would be helpful to visitors just to mention this). Didn't have room for pudding so I am deffo going back for banana fritters !

Ordered Green curry with beef and went to collect as I've been told they take hours to deliver. It was ready when promised, however was a bit of a disappointment. The sauce taste was quite well balanced, however the consistency of it was like water, it contained that well known thai ingredient the carrot, didn't appear to have any sweet basil in it or lime leaves and the beef was unbelievably tough ; I'd have been better off pouring the sauce on my feet and eating my sandals. They need to charge more and make it authentically with decent quality ingredients.

It's little treasure outside the city, it's basically a takeaway, but you can also eat in, 2 to 3 tables. Food was delicious and price is very reasonable, the owner was friendly, we enjoyed our experience, thank you

places my order very early , 12:00pm and wanting it delivered around 6pm, gave them plenty of notice and time. Cancelled my order 15 minutes when it was due to arrive, tried to order again and i wasnt bothered about it arriving later. But no, rude response, cancelled my order. very disappointed as i have been ordering them for a long time

Ordered through UberEats. Food didn't arrive in advertised time window, eventually managed to speak to restaurant who promised it had left restaurant and was on way. After a further 30 minutes I tried to phone several times and no answer. Eventually got an answer over 2 hours from ordering. Spoke to someone who didn't work for the restaurant who said it was chaos and orders had not gone out. Complained to UberEats who couldn't contact restaurant so cancelled order. Managing when things go wrong shows the strength of a business, we all accept mistakes happen. Misleading or fobbing off customers such that it prevents them making alternate plans is inexcusable. It's a shame as food is excellent.

Excellent food in generous proportions. The Tom Yum was bursting with flavour. Delivery was quick and the app was incredibly simple to use.

Had the best takeway noodle soup!!! Comes in such large portion for a very good price. The food comes well presented even if not in the restaurant. I loved it ordered it twice in a week! I can't wait to come in person. Thank you!

I just had 2 pad thai staff is very very great service too. But about pad thai i just stop eating them smell like dog inside really sorry i still have them here.

I had ordered from Soup & Thai once before so I knew that their food and service was great. Unfortunately the second time I ordered I used Uber Eats and the experience was less good but I believe the fault lies with Uber Eats. I will order from this restaurant again, just not through Uber Eats.

I don't usually eat Thai food because I don't live near any takeaways but passing through I decided to try something new and I wish I had done sooner the food was delicious and the staff polite. Honestly the best food I've had in a long time.

Live just round the corner and probably go far too much that is good for me, but its 100% worth it. Just the tastiest food! Warm and helpful staff, excellent service. We have taken both sets of our parents there and everyone else we can. We can't get enough!

Such a wonderful ambience from Soup and Thai, everyone here is wonderful including the customers we dined with. I have ordered their Milk Thai tea to go whenever I crave something sweet. If you don’t have a sweet tooth this might be an overload but it tastes really good and goes very well with the meals. The starters pictured are Pla Muk Grob (calamari baby squid) and Kanoom Jeab (pork dim sum). The squid was 10/10, it was not chewy but cooked perfectly with a nice crispy coating and tastes great with the lemon. The pork dim sum is 7/10, it pairs well with the sauce but was too meaty for my taste, but still bearable and flavourful. For the mains we got Tom Yum noodles, Wonton noodle soup and the Pad See Eww. The Tom yum (9/10) was above average but the cauliflower threw me off. It was more watery than milky but tasted better than normal takeaway Tom yum. The wonton soup (7/10) was meaty and quite sweet, probably the only dish I was underwhelmed with. The Pad See Eww was a 10/10 and really addictive to eat. It was served with crushed peanut and chill flakes! I would highly recommend it as a main dish. It is definitely a place I would recommend for good Thai food for a fairly cheap price.

Of all the Thai restaurants I have tried in the UK I have only found three that serve the Laab. I usually have to request my favourite dish. Soup and Thai smashed it, one of the best I’ve ever had and everything else we ordered was delicious. Don’t stop serving the laab...I’ll be back! Great stuff

I’ve been in to eat once and had several carry outs and deliveries. I know someone said they waited ages but I used to run a restaurant. It happens. You can’t judge a place on one experience unless the food isn’t good. I got a delivery in Leith, quite a distance. It arrived in less than half an hour. I used to work in Thailand years ago and the food is really good and big portions. It lasted me two days! Really delicious, consistent and reliable, and they’re really friendly.

Ordered food with them through JustEat. It never arrived. We had waited for three hours and tried to call them over and over again but no one answered the phone. Worst service ever (as there was none whatsoever). Avoid them! Abhorrent establishment.

Got king prawn Tom yum soup x2, roti and a portion of chips. All very nice,fresh and hot. Was ordered on a snowy day with major traffic delays and still got to mine within the hour that had been estimated at time of order. Used the 20percent off first order.

Ordered the Tom yum chicken soup for £4.20. I got a bowl of soup and like 3 little bits of chicken. Other Thai places serve the exact same soup with 4-5 times the amount of meat for the same price or less. At least the presentation was good.

Fantastic food authentic thai taste

Ordered a soup noodle and two curry dishes. The soup noodle was okay but the two curries were incredibly sweet. Neither my partner nor I could eat it. Very disappointed.

This is a great takeaway/sit in If your lucky enough to walk in and get a table, usually busy late on But wait if you can, the food is delicious with quick and friendly service.

Sadly this food arrived an hour late, was cold, and the main flavour was "burnt pan scrapings". The spring rolls were good though.

As a regular customer my husband and ordered a Saturday night takeaway. I asked for my pad Thai to be vegan and no soy sauce (as I’ve done several times). We also phoned up to double check and were reassured that the dietary requirements would be no problem and that our order would arrive within one hour. Firstly (and less seriously) it took 1 hour and 50 minutes to arrive and secondly (and more seriously!) my pad Thai had loads of chicken in it. I called to let the restaurant know what had happened but the person on the phone was so horrible and told me first that most people are waiting longer that 1 hour 50 minutes and when I said I couldn’t trust that they took the dietary requirements seriously he said ‘you won’t be coming back’ and then said bye. No apology, no effort to rectify. So saddened by this experience but if you have an allergy beware.

The food was great but took over two and a half hours to deliver and there was no compensation. Portion sizes were also really uneven too. My friend’s rice was only about 3/4 full. Such a shame the service was so bad.

I ordered food from Soup & Thai via delivery to my hotel while in Edinburgh on business. They have great customer service and the food is very good.

I ordered from Soup N Thai online where you get 20% off your first order, and as the meals are very reasonably priced anyway (£7.50 for noodle soup) this was even better! I have a peanut allergy and this was catered for very well. The meal was ready for collection in 30 mins and was delicious. The portion sizes are huge and food is very tasty. I will definitely be returning! Thank you!

The latest little gem tucked away in Marchmont. Not long open, young and very competent team running it. Only three tables but does delivery and takeout and open that bit later than its local competitors - until 22H30 - including Sunday, when nothing else is...

Faultless food. Working my way through the menu and haven’t found any dish that’s less than superb. Only complaint is the armchairs at the window table are a bit low to eat comfortably. That’s it.

Real Thai food cooked by Thai chef. REALLY RECOMMEND for the eater who loves the taste of Thai food. Additionally, If you can't stand the spicy things, you can always ask the chef to reduce the heat without losing the taste. This restaurant makes me feel like going back home in Bangkok.

Brilliant family run business and a very friendly atmosphere, with two great seats at the window. Beer and wine shop is located across the road, which is ideal as you can bring your own bottle.

Fast service, kind staff and mouth-watering. If you for have for some reason have to choose a restaurant I would 100% choose this one. The curry will spice things up! There aren't many restaurants with better food than this and cheaper prices too. Really recommend! 10/10 :-)

Ordered only once and already heavily impressed - just as great as the Thai we used to get in the hawker centres in Singapore! Fresh, strong flavours and good levels of spice. New favourite spot to order from :).

Tried this place for the first time with a couple of friends and decided to sit in for our meal. It is primarily a takeaway restaurant but has three large tables where you can sit comfortably and eat off proper crockery if you are so inclined. You can BYOB with no corkage charge and they will keep your drinks cold in the fridge for you. The food was excellent. We chose chicken satay and Thai fish cakes for starters which were both delicious and accompanied by good dipping sauces. We also tried duck spring rolls which are not yet part of the menu but which they are considering adding to it. They should definitely do it. They were possibly the best spring rolls I have ever tasted and done in a very lightly fried roll. This was just as well since we were served with six of them. For mains I had the Thai green chicken curry which they got spot on with the heat element. They will spice the curry to taste. My wife went for a stir fried chicken garlic and black pepper dish which I tasted in the interests of scientific investigation and loved. Our companion had a fried chicken dish with a chilli dipping sauce which I also sampled. It was first class. I have to say that I was really surprised by the standard of the food which was of the quality that I would expect to find in much more expensive sit down restaurants. This was explained when the owner told me that the chef used to work in a well known local establishment. Definitely a place to try again.
