Myself and my partner visited here for the first time in August 2019 for our first date together. The staff were ridiculously friendly and kind and had great chat. We visited again in Feb 2020, when again, the atmosphere absolutely made the place. Great music, great people, good drinks. I can’t wait to visit Edinburgh again to try out some food next time!

It is honestly an awful place. The owners and bar staff and horrible, moody and disrespectful. Firstly for a “restaurant” their food is absolutely disgusting. Also, They lie about how much they will charge you for drinks, for example when my friend had a tab open where he put money behind the bar, hired out the whole place and hence asked for (and got) cheaper drinks for everyone they whole night as he was bringing some customers to his awful bar, their vodka/mixers were bargained down to £3. The owner then decided that he would ignore that and charge £8 for a single vodka/mixer even though I asked him beforehand to make sure it was still £3. This place is always empty and rightly so, as it has not atmosphere and will most likely go out of business very soon where hopefully a much better bar will make use of such a good location. There are plenty of nice bars and restaurants in Edinburgh but this is not one of them!

Edinburgh CastleWe booked this afternoon tea as a treat whilst away for a few days in Edinburgh but can honestly say it is the worst customer service we have received anywhere. To start, we were kept waiting for 20 minutes, after being seated, before anyone came to speak to us and the room was freezing cold. Food was reasonably nice but when asking for another pot of tea, which we had been advised was included in the extortionate price of the afternoon tea, they simply topped up the existing tea bag with hot water. When we asked for a new tea bag you would have thought we had asked for the world! Everything seemed to be too much trouble and made us feel as though we were making a fuss. There was a teaspoon of jam provided to accompany two scones and when we politely requested more jam we were told this was not possible as it had all been measured out according to the bookings for the day....unbelievable! A little more thought and consideration about the customer experience would have made all the difference but sadly we would not recommend this afternoon tea at all, you would do better in the regular cafe with a sandwich, piece of cake and cup of tea.
