So's Kitchen in Woking

We’ve been going to so’s kitchen for over 10 years as a favourite option when having dinner out as a family, It’s our number one choice, we often bring friends along with us who also love it. It is by far one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants you can eat at outside of London, with such a good range of options. Having Chinese routes ourselves, the food is so comforting, really authentic and high quality; the flavours are sensational and it never feels too heavy or oily - ingredients totally fresh. Bring your own booze is a great policy as it keeps the cost low, but they do offer a fantastic range of soft drinks and teas. Pricing is extremely reasonable and especially when compared to what you can get elsewhere. We love the staff, such friendly and kind service. The wait time on food is also spot on - pretty quick but not so much so that you can’t first relax and have a drink with some prawn crackers. Inside it has a very relaxed atmosphere, perfect for casual dining - nice and simple, you’ll never feel rushed out. Great location with tons of parking nearby. We will continue to return to So’s Kitchen as we cannot get enough.

A busy restaurant which I would happily visit again despite my ranking. The quality of the food is quite good and good value too with large portions. You take your own wine/ beer, corkage £2 each. Fair enough. But not happy with a one hour break between starters and main course for half of our group of six.

Booked table. Two hours still no food. Told we should come early. Didn't know it'd take them over 2 hours for a chow min dinner.. had to be somewhere so went without food. Still got charged for starter of prawn crackers and cola.... won't go there again, very bad and unfriendly service!

So’s is our favourite Chinese takeaway, the best we’ve ever had! The food is absolutely delicious, highly recommend!

Visited this unassuming restaurant by the train station whilst staying overnight nearby. It doesn’t look much from the outside. It doesn’t look much when you look through the window. The food however is amazing. We enjoyed a set menu, comprising crispy aromatic duck, sweet-and-sour chicken, Hong Kong, style, beef, with spring, onions and ginger, and special fried rice. We supplemented with crispy prawn dumplings and chicken satay skewers. Even though this restaurant is over one hour away from where we live, we feel certain it will become our go to Chinese restaurant. Excellent value for money and bring your own drinks, with a small corkage fee. We will definitely be back and soon.

The food was very bland and not good at all. We ordered Singapore chowmein, it’s really bad. We ended up not eating at all.

We bought a takeaway to eat at home and it was marvellous! I enjoyed it a lot and it is one of my favourite restaurants. I would recommend this to anyone! That's how good it is! The flavour is amazing and so is the food!

Food is good but it is impossible to get through on the phone - always engaged or ‘off the hook.’ You are forced to go and order in person and wait in the car. Food was supposed to take 30 minutes. Took over an hour - hardly ‘takeaway…’

We visit So's Kitchen six or eight times a year. Always have a great experience with delicious food, friendly staff and reasonable prices. We take our own wine which is a bonus!

One of the best Chinese restaurants I've eaten from. I'd say I've eaten at 90% of the Chinese restaurants in Woking and So's blows them all out of the water. I've yet to have a disappointing meal from So's and I'm well into double figures now, if not close to triple.

Staying at the hotel over the road and after a busy day decided we wanted to stay nearby for food. After reading the reviews we decided to give this restaurant a shot and we couldn’t have been happier with our decision. Service was brilliant, the food was fresh and delicious and the price was reasonable. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

Delicious meal 'eating in' on a Monday evening after restaurant re-opened at end of November. Not too busy but enough other diners to give it some atmosphere. Service was good and food was delicious. All food was piping hot and well presented. My mains choice was Spicy Aubergine and Chicken Hot Pot. Its was full of flavour, with tender chicken and lots of aubergine (my favourite!) We forgot there is no alcohol licence but this was easily resolved by popping out to store next door and paying small charge for 'corkage'. Can't wait to return soon. Thanks So's

After struggling to find a menu online we eventually ordered our food Was told it would be an hour but that was not a problem Food arrived within 30 min On opening containers I was pleasantly surprised to find the food was not swimming in oil and piping hot I had a prawn dish which would normally result in a sad face as I use my fork like an archaeologist to find the elusive prawn Not today Plenty of prawns so happy face Would for a change recommend this take away

After trying a few local Chinese takeaways in the area, we were annoyed that we hadn't tried So's Kitchen sooner! The food was amazing, generous portions and reasonably priced. Everything felt fresh and it was nice to finally have sweet and sour chicken without a fluorescent orange sauce! (we had to persevere with calling to order on a Friday evening as their phone line was very busy, but we were so glad that we did!)

I often go here as the food is consistently good. I travel from Guildford because of the lack of quality takeaways around here!

First time to get a takeaway here and wow, what great food. All dishes were very tasty and good sizes. Will definitely be ordering again soon.

This is a really excellent Chinese restaurant, with some unusual dishes. Mains are served with a selection of delicious all dente veg. Cannot be faulted.

I ordered through Uber eats, there was an error where my address wasn't sent over. So's kitchen said they had started preparing the food and so i was charged in full and got no meal. Really, you started preparing a delivery meal without an address ?Why would they prepare food if there was no delivery address ? I called them and they were extremely unhelpful telling me to call Uber eats. Avoid !!!

Yum every time. Order takes approx 45 mins, always hot, pleasant delivery guys. Just be careful as the older woman tries to charge £5 delivery even if it’s free!

Takeaway ordered. Delivered 10 mins before promised time. Piping hot. Food better than any eat-in let alone takeaway. Truly superb.

We had the set meal for two including Peking duck. We were warned that delivery may be over an hour which we were happy to accept. The food arrived in just under an hour, was hot, generous portions and very tasty. Delivery is charged but was only £1 so no complaints about that. Will happily use again. Great food.

Easily the best Chinese takeaway in Surrey.We travel from another town to eat from So’s kitchen because the food is better than any other takeaway in Surrey. Only tip I would say is to check your order. It’s never deliberate but we have had a few orders where small things were missing and we only discovered this when we got home. Like I say this isn’t deliberate at all and staff are always happy to sort it out. Highly recommend!!

Ordered on sat night and told were busy and will take time. Honesty I like that. When it came it was hot and delicious,it was so nice I had it again on the following Wednesday.

This restaurant is all about authenticity. If you like good Chinese food you will find it here. Service and dining area are fairly simple but definitely sufficient. During our visit, there we more Chinese diners than anyone else which is a sure sign the food is good. Will be back soon.

This (sit-in and takeaway) restaurant serves some of the best Chinese food I've had anywhere.Every item in my recent meal was superb; every portion was generous. It is not cheap as Chinese takeaways go, but it is better than almost all. The grilled dumplings, the chicken in black pepper (yes, pepper!) sauce, the Tom Yum soup - all really tasty. Have been before, and found it excellent, and shall certainly go again. Highly recommended.

The best chow mien in town. Never greasy and lots of meat. A good tasty filling meal superior to any other. Also tried other dishes which haven’t failed to impress. Finally they deliver too which if you having lazy meal is the icing on the cake.

We are so lucky to have So’s Kitchen nearby. They have a great menu, something for everyone. Their take out is quick and very reasonably priced. Having lived in New York form many years, we missed good and tasty Chinese food, and this is the closest we have found to that. We are particularly fond of a few of their dishes: Deep fried squid with with spiced salt and chilli; grilled dumplings; shredded beef with chilli; all their Chow meins; and their hot pots in the Chef’s specials - I know it sounds weird but the Stewed beed tendon and flank hot pot is really good. I know the restaurant side is quite basic, but it is so clean, service is fast, and the staff really friendly.

This was a life saver for me. Offered good Chinese menu. many times opted for take away. the staff is friendly and lovely.

We were pleasantly surprised about the quality of food served, the food was first class we all had different meals and everyone was nice, the best Chinese I’ve had. The staff are super friendly, we really enjoyed our meal highly recommend.

Called in for a takeaway. Lovely lady on the counter, helpful and attentive. Ordered our food, of which she advised and helped with our selection. Good portions, Selective menu, good prices. One of the few Chinese Takeaways we have enjoyed. Will have to visit again.

We come to So's whenever we can as a treat. A family favourite will always be the char sui buns or the Jer Jer chicken but there are so many brilliant choices on offer we keep coming back to try more. A must if you're ever in Woking!

While this restaurant can’t be bothered to stock/serve alcohol; it then seemingly insults its customers with an additional erstwhile “corkage charge” [currently some £2--] if they decide/deign to bring in their own with them to accompany the meal and so try to make it more enjoyable/palatable….

The food here is one of the best takeaways in woking! have had several takeaways here and they are always good quality. it can be a little pricey but its good quality so its understandable.

Great food, always tasty and freshly cooked. Been coming to this restaurant for last 5 years, always friendly service . Although the restaurant itself is quite basic the food makes up for any lack of decor. You can take your own drinks for a small charge too. The dim sum Is the best I have ever tasted. The best Chinese I’ve ever had.

The food was tasty, the portions were generous, the price very reasonable. And the lady serving us was very efficient and friendly. Will definitely go back!

What a fabulous takeaway! We were so spoilt for choice from the menu. The food was ordered over the phone and was ready very quickly. All very reasonably priced for excellent food. We were given generous portions and all the dishes were delicious. A firm favourite was the Kung Po King Prawns - divine! All we keep saying now is, "if only we had discovered this place sooner!"

Located very close to the railway station. I visit at least once a week. Small and spartan - but delicious sweet and sour pork, and the fried rice is perfect. Very moderately priced. Recommended.

Simple decor, no frills, but oh my god the food is good. Nice service, quick delivery, super clean and tasty food.

I've been there on many occasion and have made it clear I cannot have any MSG as I'm allergic. Every time I think maybe this time they will listen, every time I get a migrane from the MSG. They don't care they just give you food with it in anyway. I can tell because an MSG migrane has a very specific feel and goes on for days. On the rare occasions they have listened, the food is tasteless. They can't cook without it, it's the MSG that's tasty, not their cooking

I found a family run Chinese restaurant/takeaway with a great range of freshly cooked Chinese food at reasonable prices.

I've used them since they first opened. They are consistently good for take away and eat in. I particularly like the BRO (bring your own booze) eat in, it's friendly and informal service. And so convientient righ by Woking Station.

My family and I enjoy this little eatery which we go to on a regular basis. It's decor is fairly plain, service is no frills and for the most part, its patrons keep sound levels fairly civil, making the ambience pleasant.

Read good things about So’s Kitchen on TA so decided to give it a try. Was not disappointed.

I went to this place a few days ago. I ordered a ton yum some prawn crackers and a prawn curry. The soup was served in a very bad bowl the prawn curry was extremely bland tasteless. They definitely need new crockery.

So's kitchen is almost an institution in Woking as it has been there for nearly 15 years. The food tastes great is fresh and cooked pretty quickly. The fried rice wasn't overly oily as in many takeaways and the portions were reasonable. Overall good value.

We ordered catering from So's Kitchen for a birthday party on 4 August at our house and the food and service were excellent. We had over 70 people and many commented on the lovely and tasty food prepared by the owner, Mike and his friendly staff. In particular, Mike had gone out of his way in ensuring that there were a variety and sufficient amount of food for our guests, which had exceeded our initial guest estimate. The food was delivered on time, especially when it wasn't a short journey, coming from Woking to Guildford.

Quaint and slightly odd restaurant, great Dim Sum. Staff were very helpful, tried the takeaway but not as good as eating in I'm afraid.

We are fairly regular patrons and this restaurant delivers in terms of sumptuous, homely meals. However, for this visit, we found the chicken and meat hotpot dishes to be of high quality, but the veg dish was dry and uninspired. Perhaps a one off blip from what is normally excellent fare.

We had some Chinese food delivered to us. The sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong Style was the best sweet and sour I have ever had. 10 small vegetable spring rolls were just right. Chow mein and Five Flavor King Prawns were also very delicious too. We were very happy with our experience. Definitely we will order another delivery soon.

Our meal was completely tasteless even hot and sour soup just tasted watery no one came in the whole time we where there sad as this was a fantastic spot. Very disappointing.

I’ve been coming here for the last 10 years and have never been dissatisfied! The value for money is excellent.

On the evening of our most recent Bank Holiday Monday, my partner and I and our two children thought we would treat ourselves to a Chinese takeaway, and so we ordered from So's Kitchen....well what a huge mistake that was. Our food turned up and it was distasteful, dripping with grease and unseasoned. The egg fried rice had little to no egg in it.....the special fried rice was literally just rice.....the mixed seafood noodle bowl had one prawn in it and no seasoning. Our spring rolls were soggy and dripping with grease....the chicken and sweetcorn soups were disgustingly gloopy with no chicken or sweetcorn in them at all. We decided to take our food back to So's only to be met with a seemingly unimpressed and uninterested rude man working the counter that evening. His customer service was appalling and not once did he apologise for the disgusting food they sent out to us, which may I add, cost us £52.80. More than happy to take our money but couldn't care less when it comes to the quality and the standards of the food they are sending out. Eventually we got our full refund, the unprofessional man working was not prepared to give us a full refund at all, but the owner of the restaurant/takeaway intervened and agreed to the full refund. Never ever again we will use that place. A total rip off. Quite happy to charge expensive prices and take people's money but not interested in what they send out for these people to eat....I bet they don't sit down to that kind of rubbish at the end of each day. So much for customer loyalty and appreciation.

Small & fairly plain looking restaurant but don’t let that put you off. The food & the service is excellent. Attentive staff, happy to help wherever they can. Great choice of food & excellent quality. All cooked fresh & really tasty. A regular haunt for me.

Stopped by So’s Kitchen again today with my work colleague for lunch, we both had Singapore rice noodles which were fantastic, it is served with Chinese tea which is also good.

We ate in the restaurant part of the Chinese. Food arrived quickly and was really tasty. We would recommend this for eat in or take-away.

I ordered BBQ spare ribs £6 spring rolls 1 portion £3.80 couldn't believe the size of the spring rolls they are so small you would expect them as starter.my local Chinese you get a massive one for £2 also ribs are so small as well total rip off for£9.80 won't go back

We have been frequenting this restaurant for over 5 years, brought family and friends there (even made new friends there!). Through our visits over the years, the food has always ranged from authentically good to excellent.

We had the most delicious chinese last night at So’s, it was so tasty and piping hot just wonderful. We eat quite regularly at So’s but felt that the meal was exceptionally good, so at the end of the meal I complimented the chef which I was then told that he was the original chef returned from years ago. The food was definitely the best we have had for a while, Sandy the original owner is back running the kitchen and it’s back to its former self, fantastic!! We recommend the Chefs specials in their hot pots and the Aubergine Garlic Chilli Chips, just divine!!!

We have eaten in the restaurant and had takeaways too and both are excellent. Freshly cooked food which is extremely tasty. The best I’ve had anywhere. Bring your own drinks and they’ll provide the glasses. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Have visited this restaurant many times for both sit in and takeaways. Good value and fast service in the restaurant but sometimes a 20+mins wait for takeaway, especially on Friday evening. Is not licensed but restaurant are happy to supply glasses for bring your own wine.

Always highly rated So's but we ordered a delivery last week to have at home with some guests and was really disappointed by the food. Such a shame ! We will give it another go before we find another takeaway.

We have been frequenting So's for 3 years, at least once a month. They have recently closed and reopened due to 'maintenance'. Since their reopening the usual food items we get have changed. Rice is overcooked, the amount of vegetables used as fillers and the amount of lazy garlic being used. We always chose So's for their fantastic flavour and great prices. We have been twice since they have reopened and I am quite sad to say that we will need to move on and find another Chinese takeaway in Woking.

I had organised a takeaway lunch for work (18 people). The food was ready exactly when we asked for it. Everybody enjoyed it and proceeded to have a slow afternoon. Great value for money.

We hadn't been for a while and 6 of us came in for dinner before the theatre.Had the shared starter and the seaweed was inedible - pure salt.Food was bland and order was wrong, with the rice arriving pretty much as we finished.We won't be going back again.

One of the worst takeaways we've had. Crispy seaweed in particular was so salty that one mouthful made you feel sick. Char sui was just cheap sauce; egg fried rice stodgy.When we complained about the seaweed we were told we were the first to mention the excessive salt (not true: check recent reviews here on TripAdvisor) and offered a free dish on our next visit.Er, what next visit? No chance we'll be trying here again. Avoid.

You know this place confuses. They do some amazing food and some poor.For instance spring roles are just great. Delicious. Sweet n sour balls also then you get bland fries obviously frozen. Barbecue sause which is bright orange and poor artificial taste.These small changes would make this place just great

As always So's provides excellent food at good prices. Very simple tables, not licensed so you take your own wine. Does fantastic takeaway service.

Just been there to eat dinner with friends. The food there is really tasty. Big portions and it's not to expensive too! Service is ok. One of the waiters seemed a bit lost in his job though. Overall it was pleasant experience and I would recommend it to my friends.

My second visit to this lovely little restaurant in Woking, the food is great and there is a nice selection of Hong Kong style Chinese food and the specialities menu contains traditional Chinese food. The local Chinese residents eat here which is a good sign of the quality of the food.If you go just after 6 pm you will probably get a table but as this restaurant has limited tables if you want to go later on in the evening I would suggest you book.The establishment does not have an alcohol licence so if you want to have a drink you need to take it with you, there is a £2/head corkage cost but this isn't really an issue. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the food is freshly prepared and a great selection.

Another great yet understated Woking restaurant where we were welcomed like long-lost friends. Very popular with local orientals - always a good sign. Very good service and tasty Chinese food

Went for my son's birthday night out. Had a really enjoyable time. Friendly staff, excellent, authentic Cantonese food. Good value for money. Very handy for Woking rail station. Will go again.

Thought we would get a takeaway from this place due to the great ratings.Turned up quickly which was good however the food was very sub standard.The egg fried rice was stodgy and flavourless.The seaweed have an unbelievable ammount of salt on it. I know it's meant to be salty but this was horrendous!The main dishes were nice though.May be better eating in but the other local Chinese takeaways have been a lot tastier.

We had heard lots of great things about this lovely place but never got round to trying it! Last Saturday we booked in for lunch and we were blown away by the amazing food. We had the dim sum platter c which was so delicious followed by char Sui pork and crispy squid equally so. Service was very good, value amazing plus it's a bring your own for wine which always keeps cost down! So's is sooooo good!!!

Tucked away on the opposite side to town by Woking Station is this great place. Its no frills decor and underwhelming exterior hide the fact that this place serves some really good and fresh food. Service is fine and more importantly there is a large range of items to choose from. Our food was tasty and served pretty quickly. There is a take away part to bit we are yet to try that.

Love the food from here. Was a regular now only when I'm in the area but worth a visit. No alcohol served but you can bring your own. No heating in the restaurant so a but chilly on the winter. Lunch time specials are very good value

Popped in for 5 take away meals whilst working late in Woking. We each had a different meal, not too expensive and the food was really good. Good size portions and a few unexpected extras thrown in. Really tasty food and you get quite a few spring rolls thrown as well as prawn crackers. Everyone enjoyed it, my second visit and on both occasions have not been disappointed. Well done keep the standard up guys, will be back.

This really is a little gem of a restaurant. I have been many times and never been disapointed.My partner loves the dim sum and i always have the shredded chilli beef.

No frills restaurant, all about substance. I love these kinds of restaurants I wish we had more in Woking. The food was very nice and pretty genuine, loved it.

Aways get my takeaways from So's kitchen now - staff are very friendly and accommodate your requests. Usually very busy on Friday and Sat eve but that is to be expected. Food was delivered hot and fresh!

Very tasty quick bowl of Singapore noodles. Just the ticket for a quick bite to eat with minimum fuss.

Excellent eat-in & take away the other side of the tracks. Food very fresh and special dishes prepared, off menu, for my Vegan wife also without MSG. It may not look too inspiring but it is great value and lovely food.

I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a traditional Chinese meal. They have a great range of food and the best dumplings. But the decorations could be modernised

We come here at least once a week. The restaurant is basic in terms of decor but the food and service is good. Consistently reliable and the telling factor is that many genuine Chinese citizens either working or studying in Surrey come here to eat.

Walked past so's kitchen countless times, although never thought to go in before. What a pleasant surprise when i did, on the off chance! Staff are very friendly, service is always fast, and the food is authentic and delicious. The bubble tea is the best Asian tea you'll have in Woking (and probably beyond). Am now a regular visitor. Don't be put off by its modest exterior - it's got a real charm to it.

We visit here often, either for a quick lunch from their lunch menu or dim sum or for a takeaway. Portions are generous, always very good quality and staff are friendly and polite.This used to be our nearest Chinese takeaway but we moved house which had 2 closer restaurants...needless to say after trying these we now travel to So's (it's only a 10 min drive so not far!)

Do not expect luxurious surroundings, if you want a posh night out. However, if you want great Chinese food with some real speciality Chinese dishes then this is the place to come to. Good service (and I have been to many Chinese restaurants where the service has been appauling) and reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

it seems to be take away more than a restaurant. food is ok, some are tasteless. there is not variety of drinks, of course 7they arent alcohol since they dont sell other drinks. very plain restaurant deco.... wouldnt go any more. they dont speak english
