Sorrento Ristorante Italiano in North Tyneside

Booked for the first time today and was very surprised that Sorrento isn’t packed out. The food is absolutely delicious, all home cooked..and the wine great. Such good value… the decor is just like little trattoria in Italy, it was warm, welcoming and the music eclectic… We will be back..

I must start by saying the food was excellent. No complaints. The calzone pizza pastry was lovely, not hard like many places serve. However for the majority of our time there we were the only guests, a table of 4. Absolutely no atmosphere. Whe you enter downstairs the corridor is very uninviting. Hasn't been decorated for ages. It even has a copy of the phone book and yellow pages in. Up steep stairs to a room that looks like a time warp to another decade. Desperately in need of a lack of paint. And what's with the tea towels on the walls, with different british dialects explained. Keep the Geordie one but get rid of the rest. It's also 2023, no credit or debit cards accepted. Luckily we had passed by earlier in the day and picked up a menu and seen this. There's no website to check up on before you go. We enjoyed the food but won't rush back

Visited Sorrento 8th October 2023 for lunch. Very cosy venue old school Italians feel to the place which I love. Very friendly and welcoming staff. I went for the Fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and delicious. Prices are very reasonable with the food being exceptional. I would highly recommend a visit to this little gem

We dine here fairly regularly and it is always a lovely experience with delicious food cooked by Romolo. (I hope I have your name correct!) Last night I had the pollo sorrento which was flavourful and creamy. The wine is always nice and we had extra courses brought to us which were so good. (You just never know what Romolo will create next.) Vegetable soup, garlic bread and tiramisu in addition to our ordered courses this evening. Delicious! Many thanks!

This place is a little gem! Outstanding food prepared with care and attention, nothing hurried and rushed. A superb family meal! We will definitely be back.

Excellent authentic Italian restaurant At first glance very basic and cluttered almost like sitting in someone’s kitchen diner. I cannot speak highly enough of the owner the chef the waiter as he does the lot himself absolutely amazing. The food is outstanding we’ll prepared and we’ll presented. If your looking for a modern Italian with bells and whistles Sorrento is not for you if however your looking for great food at a reasonable price with a friendly atmosphere this is the place to go. Will certainly be back.

Due to pandamic, etc .. we hadn't been here for quite some time, so weren't sure what to expect. It was excellent. Our host was charming, attentive yet discreet, offering delicious extras as he prepared our order. The food was amazingly good, and we had ordered quite a range - pizzas, pasta, steaks, all cooked superbly. To top it all the wine was great too, and very reasonably priced. A fabulous evening. We will definitely be back- very soon. Thank you.

We visited Sorrento recently to celebrate my husband's birthday and had a wonderful evening. Our host was so friendly and helpful that we felt we were dining in someone's own home. He produced extra dishes, soup and bruschetta and an Italian dessert as well as the starters and main course we had ordered all of which were delicious. Thank you Romano for such an excellent evening, we look forward to returning!

This small restaurant is above the shops, and on arrival you wonder if its going to be any good - so small, nothing special to look at. The owner welcomes you, takes your order and cooks your meal. The food is authentic and absolutely delicious. We had olives while we perused the menu, then enjoyed a delicous starter and main, following up with a slice of tiramasu - all expertly cooked and presented. If you want a more authentic meal, at a very reasonable price, this is the place to try! Highly recommended!

What an amazing experience we had at this lovely restaurant, delicious bruschetta, incredible Spaghetti Reale and Seafood Risotto. So nice to experience an authentic restaurant, lovely extras such as olives and cheese to start. Allow enough time if you’re going to the theatre as we were, we will definitely be back when next in Whitley Bay. Thank you to the lovely owner/chef/waiter who is a great multi tasker.

Don’t let looks fool you, you may think twice at dining here going off the front appearance but please get up those stairs and try out sorrentos. One Italian man does it all and produces delicious food. You get more than you ask for too as he brings out little taster gems, so you end up having a 5 course meal. Defo not a cookie cutter Italian restaurant but very quirky.

A must visit restaurant if you like Italian This is a true Italian restaurant and Romolo is the only guy in there, front of house and the most amazing chef He made us so welcome and don’t do the pizza and pasta do the true Italian seafood and steak! Strangely the best steak Diane and Pepper steak for a long time Romolo made us so welcome and yes, the restaurant is a little quirky and surreal but indulge it and enjoy the food and good wine too

We went to Sorrento for the first time tonight. What a lovely man the Chef/Owner is. The food was amazing and, very reasonsable,as were the drinks. It was so nice to experience some genuine Italian food. We’ll be returning soon. Thanks Paul and Dawn

This is definitely a hidden gem, came across it by chance and so glad we did. Proprietor is most welcoming and modest nothing is to much trouble. The food is freshly prepared, looks lovely and tastes divine, the treats between courses were an added bonus. If you're in the area you would be daft not to pop in. My husband had a steak which melted in the mouth, the risotto was the best I've ever tasted and pizza is out of this world. We highly recommend the Sorrento Italian Restaurant!

A very nice restaurant run by the very pleasant Italian owner.Nice and small with an Italian feel about it ,a nice change from places like ASK Italian etc.The food starters, mains, deserts and coffee all perfectly presented and tasted delicious and reasonably priced.If your looking for a good old fashioned Italian Restaurant with good home cooking you must give this place a try

So happy this restaurant is open again after lockdown. This is by miles the best fresh home cooked food you can get. Had a lovely evening as always excellent service highly recommend.

Dined as a family of 5. We were looking for somewhere local to eat and decided to give this restaurant a try based on the reviews. We were definitely not disappointed. Such a pleasure to find something authentically Italian. Couldn't fault any of the food and my spaghetti carbonara was the best I've had. The complimentary dishes were an added bonus. Will be recommending to our local friends and will be going again.

Visited a few weeks ago for a family meal and we were impressed as usual. Sorrento is a lovely intimate restaurant with high quality, affordable Italian food and complementary dishes offered too which is a really nice touch. The owner is really friendly and creates a relaxed atmosphere, would highly recommend.

Dined there yesterday with my daughter. A very warm and welcoming host and a good choice of dishes on the menu. Food was delicious and we also received two complimentary dishes, soup and desert.

We've passed this place a few times and for some reason just not had the chance to check it out until last Saturday. Firstly I'd checked on here so I knew it was a small quirky place looking at the photos. I wasn't in the mood for anywhere too busy and we certainly got that. Although having the restaurant to ourselves suited me just fine. It's a shame that on a Saturday we were the only ones in (for the owner.) Don't let that put you off! The service was very friendly from the guy who I assume owns it. The food was lovely and it was a very pleasant experience. I wonder if the fact that the council have closed Park View has had a detrimental impact on the restaurant?When we eat out I sometimes can't be bothered with a big bustling restaurant chain. So I love these smaller unusual type restaurants that do proper home cooked food. I just hope business picks up for the restaurant compared to Saturday as it would be a shame to lose this nice little Italian restaurant. We'll definitely be back in the future and would recommend dining here if you're looking for a cosy little Italian restaurant in Whitley Bay.

Me and my family ate here tonight, what a lovely little place! The owner was so friendly and the food was so tasty we will definitely return!!

We had a very nice meal in this small homely restaurant. The owner cooked and served a very nice evening meal for 3 with a nice bottle of wine. An overall very pleasant experience Will definitely visit this little Alexandrian oasis in the future.

My husband and I had the garlic mushroom starter, which was perfect. Then he had the Lasagna Sorrento, which he said was one of the best lasagnas he'd ever tasted. I had the Panna Prosciutto Funghi (I think that was the name of it) and it was superb. The portions were just the right size, and the man running the show was very friendly and welcoming. He had us try some soup on the house before our meals came out also, and it was awesome. Highly recommend!

Lovely and cosy ! The food was amazing and so fresh best we’ve ever had ...the man was so kind and stayed open after hours witch was lovely of him ! Food is fresh and original Italian recipe from a traditional Italian chef will be a regular . Thank you , you should be very proud of your self and would definitely recommend

We had a Daddy and Doughter night last week and we had a great night!, the food and service was great, I would recommend this restaurant for really good home cooking!, we will defo go back!!

We went here on a Sunday evening and I must say this is the only place where you will get fresh home cooked food. This restaurant is very small but the food absolutely blew me away it was the best I have ever had. Everything was perfect it was fresh and home cooked. The gentleman who was front of house served us quickly which I love and also cooked our meal in the back. I will be returning this is my new favourite restaurant. I can’t believe I didn’t know this was here.

We chose a very quiet night to try out this tiny (but well formed) restaurant but the food did not disappoint. All cooked to order and with many complimentary courses.The only downside is that cards are not accepted but there is a cashpoint nearby.

We arrived with friends for lunch, ordered our drinks whilst we checked out the menu, as we chatted a nice surprise plate of complimentary tasters arrived for the four of us, very nice indeed. My bruschetta and my wife’s garlic mushrooms were utterly delicious. So we had more wine. As our mains were being cooked a taster bowl of soup arrived, all too much I thought but very nice it was. Our mains duly arrived, hot, freshly cooked and nicely presented; a large bowl of mussels, chicken breast in creamy mushroom sauce, arrabbiata and a lasgagna all supremely delicious, thank you chef Romano.Thinking that we were finished eating and sitting back to enjoy the last of our wine, a small serving of fresh delicious crepe with cream and raspberry arrived, again a very nice touch to finish with. Not a posh place with inflated prices, but a done to earth authentic Italian restaurant, great Italian chef who takes delight in looking after his customers. There is no rush to get you out the door, take your time to enjoy. We will certainly be back, no doubt about that. Super duper!!

We had an excellent meal here. Now be careful you could miss the place. It is upstairs and is quite small but comfortable. The owner cooks and serves for you delicious food. I will certainly be back and recommend it to family and friends.

Myself and partner visited this restaurant this evening for the first time. It was fantastic. We were given three (yes three) treats each,which perfectly combined with our starters and main courses. All food cooked from fresh - and such a nice feeling to eat in a truely homemade restaurant, rather than the chains with flood cities and high streets these days. We will be back very soon! We stayed in Whitley Bay for the weekend and found this place by chance. The waiter/chef was excellent and the food was amazing- all cooked from fresh. My son said it was the best pizza he has ever had. Would definitely visit again!

As always our visit to Sorrento was outstanding. A very warm welcome, followed by a fantastic meal. We have visited several times and each and every time we receive amazing quality food and service.

We went for a birthday celebration. The food is fabulous and the waiter/chef is such a lovely man! This is our favourite restaurant in Whitley Bay!

You get freshly cooked food prepared by the waiter/chef, and little lovely extra dishes while your waiting for your food. Will be back again soon!

Visited Sorrento Italian Restaurant recently with family and it was a terrific experience. Delicious free little starters were a much appreciated beginning to the evening. We all ordered different meals and each one was very tasty. The proprietor does a terrific job cooking, serving and making sure everyone is taken care off. We will certainly be back.

I was looking for an Italian restaurant to take my mum out for dinner and when searching the internet came across this restaurant. So pleased I did. My Mum is very hard to please so it is always difficult to choose somewhere but she loved this place, as did I. I know a restaurant is great when my Mum finishes her meal which is exactly what she did. The restaurant is lovely, with a fantastic host/chef who is attentive to guests despite his dual role. The lovely extra starters and dessert was such a lovely touch and tasted great. We could not fault a thing. Would come back in a heartbeat and would recommend to anyone and everyone.

We ate here for the first time last night and it was great! Lovely little free starters before we even got to what we ordered and friendly welcoming service. The same lovely man serves and cooks and we felt very well taken care of. We will definitely be back! Lovely wine too :-)

Blink and you'd miss this place but it is worth finding; a gem of a place! Completely unique, and the most amazing, genuine host. It's so authentic it felt the same as some of the places I'd visited in Italy, quirky decor and beautiful food. My husband and I were looked after liked we'd visited someone's home. Please find out this place as it's so different and the chef/host is extremely welcoming! We'll be back and next time we'll bring the kids! P.S the Pinot Grigio is beautiful!!!

I have eaten in the restaurant but they also do takeaway which I don't think may people know. It's a small upstairs place (about 6 tables) run by one person but don't let out you off- the food is tasty and the owner is friendly - he once even made a dessert on request for us

I never leave Trip Advisor reviews, but felt I needed to for this place. Lovely meal with family tonight - great menu with lots of things you never usually see. We ordered starters (if you’ve never tried stracciatella do so at once) and mains, and got breadsticks, a wee sampler plate and dessert thrown in. Excellent wine too! The waiter / chef / owner was also super friendly. If you want bog standard, high street, out the kitchen fast ‘Italian’, this is not for you. If you want freshly prepared, authentic food in a friendly atmosphere, then go at once; take my car, it’s wonderful.

My friend and I booked a meal at this restaurant prior to going to the theatre. The food was good, the chef/waiter offering us a complimentary bowl of soup while the starter was being prepared. However the whole meal took so long to prepare and serve that we had to rush in order to arrive at the theatre and therefore were unable to order a dessert or take up the offer of complimentary ice cream. I appreciate this was a quiet Sunday night but as there was only one other couple there was little atmosphere and I doubt that I will return.

Beautiful meal, freshly cooked. Really lovely, very efficient owner who successfully fulfilled the roles of chef and waiter. Wish we lived nearer. This fabulous little gem would be visited by us regularly.

A group of fifteen of us needed a meal within a short time as we were playing in a concert. We had been a bit anxious because there was only one chef and the clock was ticking. But the wait was well worth it, and our meals were delicious: tasty, hot and genuinely Italian. He deserved our congratulations.

Popped in on this cold rainy evening just for a main course and was treated to a bit of tasting meal. Ordered our main course and we were brought complimentary soup and Italian tapas whilst we were waiting. A lovely touch. We both had tagliatele carbonara which was authentic and really nice. We were then treated to a tiramisu taster. Now sitting having a coffee after a thoroughly unexpected experience. We will be back

I really enjoyed here. The food was all fresh and very tasty. We visited on a Saturday lunch time. We were the only people in the restaurant but that didn’t both us as was music playing and was cosy. I think people may not realise it is open.

We’d noticed Sorrento’s had reopened but weren’t sure quite what to expect given the outside isn’t particularly Inviting. That said, the new owner could not have been more friendly, and personally prepared the wonderful meals to make sure we’d want to come back. A small intimate restaurant, serving authentic Italian food, in a very nice atmosphere and outstanding customer service. Deserving of every success, we’ll be back for sure!

Had a really lovely meal at Sorrento tonight. We live just round the corner but hadn't been for years as we hadn't been impressed when we last went (under previous ownership) but having seen recent reviews and seeing it had changed hands gave it another try.

We only had 3 standard starters & 3 mains (pizza/pasta) a few beers & bill was £78! We got extras that I'm assuming we must had paid for that we didn't order?! We were the only 3 people in the place & I'm really not very not surprised. Pizza was good everything else was OK but certainly not over £25 a head standard - disappointed overall - real shame as most reviews had been so positive.

Visited last night on a bleak evening and experienced the most wonderful food with superb friendly service. We were the only customers at the time and we will be returning shortly with family and friends. Don’t let the small entrance deter you from entering and experiencing the wonderful food, service and hospitality. Gluten free options for my wife were not a problem and we were provided with complimentary homemade bread and soup. Give it a go and support local businesses

So glad my Mam and dad introduced us to this hidden gem restaurant. All of the food is amazing!!! We got lots of food made for us that we didn’t order and all of it was delicious. Very friendly and lovely atmosphere can’t wait to go back soon.

Only ones in the restaurant which made it really personal. We were offered free soup, which 2 of the group tried, bread sticks were fresh and warm and tasted beautiful, pate was divine. All of the group, 4 of us, had starters, 1 Antipasti 2 Calamari and 1 Garlic mushrooms, huge portions, Mains Steak, 2 Sea food pasta, and not on the menu a veggie pasta, all from scratch and sea food wash fresh, friends steak done to how he wanted and the sauce was perfect. After we were treated to a small dessert of gateau and ice cream in a wafer wrapping, price worked out at about £25 per head with drinks, value for money for what we had and a great service, always polite. Thank you for a great night. 5 stars all the way and a great hidden gem.

We have been to this restaurant twice in the last few days. The food is excellent. It is reasonably priced and of the highest quality. I can not recommend this place highly enough. Try other Italian Restaurants in North Tyneside and then try Sorrento. I promise you that you will return.

Used to come here years ago and then it changed hands read the reviews and we decided to give it ago. Delicious meal with lots of extras including home made soup, starters and dessert all for great value. All together a lovely meal thank you we will be back

This is a hidden gem in Whitley Bay.

The restaurant itself is very small with a shabby chic decor. Very intimate feel with only being a few tables available. Food was fantastic was even given some added extras. Service was also very good would definitely recommend.

What an amazing place. You can walk past without knowing it is there. Door in the middle of 2 shops with zebra crossing right next to it. Up the stairs past the brill photos on the walls of old italian cars,motor bikes, famous people etc. Tiny restaurant, 5 tables (22 chairs). Dont get dressed up for this place, its down to earth. Greeted warmly, lovely guy. Good menu. Some delicous fresh bread sticks to nibble on. We chose 2 starters and 2 mains but were given 2 delicous soupssmoked salmon rolls with cheese fillings + salad and balsamic dressing and delicous tirimsu and fresh pinapple at the end. My wifes seafood pasta was amazing and the lasagne excellent. Our host is a great guy, very polite and friendly. Loves his restaurant and his customers. Only 4 people in on a Sunday at 7pm. 2 starters 2 mains 2 peronis and 2 rose wines + coffee = £41. 5 course meal really. We were stuffed. A monthly visit here I forsee.

We visited on a quiet Sunday evening. The menu was extensive and I strongly recommend the seafood! You really need to make an effort to visit this place (up the stairs, can’t see much of it from the street) but the food is incredible. We were also treated to two additional starters and crepes to finish. We will definitely be back.

If you want posh, overpriced Italian food this is not the place to go. This is a quaint and authentic Italian with the owner, Romolo, as chef and host. The food was simply delicious. We ordered the bruschetta and mushrooms to start and Carbonara and Seafood Marinara for main. We were, however, treated to two extra courses to start and a small dessert to finish at no extra cost. Romolo is clearly passionate about his food as all of it had such great flavour which left us savouring every bit. The restaurant inside is small but traditional and Romolo really makes your evening. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a true taste of Italian food with no pretentiousness and a friendly face to boot. Previous comments about value for money seem bonkers to me as we essentially had 5 courses of gorgeous food plus wine for £50. I would have paid that for just our two courses. I don't know how much more value people could want. We will be returning and soon.

We have just come back from the nicest, tastiest most loveliest Italian meal we have ever had in the UK. We have travelled all over Italy and the food we had in this lovely little restaurant in Whitley Bay was a wonderful match to the amazing food we’ve had in Italy and across Europe. Every course was fantastic. All made from fresh. All outstanding. The chef and proprietor was exceptional. He was so friendly, kind and generous. We will be back! We thought we'd give this place a try. What an incredible surprise! The food was authentic and the quality was way above the usual standard of local italian resturants. We were given extra courses to try (free). The food and wine were very, very good. The price was very reasonable. We will certainly return. Go for the specials! The owner/chef even whipped us up a tiramisu without us even asking for a desert. Trust the chef!

We had lunch here with 2 of our friends as a belated Xmas and new year celebration. We were greeted with a complimentary glass of prosecco which was lovely. We decided against a starter but the lovely Italian owner/chef brought us some homemade soup and this was followed by some bread and pate and salad. So, lucky we had only ordered main courses, 2 pasta dishes and 2 pizzas, everything is home made on the premises so cooked to order, if the chef is working on his own I imagine there might be a delay if the restaurant was busy. We enjoyed the mains and then the chef, killing us with kindness brought us all a complimentary piece of cake. Overall we enjoyed it, we were the only people in but that could have the fact it was the 2nd January. Prices were reasonable and it was nice to not be rushed.

Amazing food .we had 10 different tapas style dishes plus 6 main meals steaks king prawns pizza plus sides.a few sides chips etc £111.the lot!! Incredible value.the service was really friendly.they take great pride in cooking and presenting the food.well worth finding this hidden gem puts "posh"restaurants to shame for quality price and service.a big thank you from all of us.we will return soon.

We used to go to this place ages ago but it changed hands and was run by chancers. We'd heard it was under new management so nervously decided to give it a try. It was well worth it. We were presented with what seems to be the signature fresh doughballs as an appetiser and then lapped up the beautifully cooked fish cakes and traditional Italian mains, washed down with decent wine. Happy with the pleasant service, but would have liked to have seen a few more people in the place - but it was early. We tried a takeaway a week later, and that was great, too. One minor criticism - the chef seems to be timid with the garlic, which is a little odd for an Italian place, but we'll just ask for extra garlic in future. Recommended!

Really lovely, cute little Italian restaurant tucked away in the centre of Whitley bay. Very welcoming and friendly, delicious food and even give little extras with the meal. Very well priced can't recommend enough!

Hicimos un grupo muy grande de todas las edades y gustos a Sorrento en el último minuto. Aceptaron todas nuestras necesidades, y la comida estaba deliciosa! Los chefs del restaurante muy por encima y más allá llevando extra detalles como pan y amaretto, y cuando se vio que era uno de cumpleaños del partido, nos sorprendió con una tarta y velas. Lo que hizo nuestra experiencia y realmente apreciamos el servicio. Sólo una nota de advertencia: no aceptan tarjetas, para sacar dinero.

Well. This little hideaway was either going to be terrible or brilliant. And brilliant it was! Lovely warm Italian owner and chef. He prepared a delicious meal for me and my family from scratch. I could here him chopping the vegetables there and then. The result was a little wait followed by deliciously fresh home cooked Italian food. Worried about waiting? The minor wait was filled by a tasty, unexpected appetiser of Italian dough balls and mushrooms in a zingy tomato sauce. My kids loathe Mushrooms but my boy, in particular, couldn't get enough of them! Best of all, he gas a special offer at present which gets you a bottle of barolo for £18. He duly delivered a 2012 barolo that was one of the nicest bottles of wine I have ever tasted. Most restaurants would be charging twice that price if not more. Top marks. Whitley Bay residents and visitors - check it out!

After reserving a table we were shown straight to our table. We had just sat down when a man came over and abruptly told us this wasnt our table. "This is reserved" he said. We told him that we had reserved it and he quickly said "no this is not your table". No apology, no explanation! I was really annoyed. I didnt mind moving but why be so rude. Noone even took our name when we entered the restraunt so it was really bad service.The restraunt was packef but looked beautiul. However where we were shown to was far from nice. He took us right out the back where there were two long party tables and a round 4 seater pushed against the wall. "You can have this table he said". I sat down onto a wobbly chair so swapped to another. We just felt so out of placr. There was only the two of us.Service was fast its just a shame the bad customer service let us down and the attitudes of the staff.Bill was fantastic but is it worth paying less for a crap service?

Truly the worst dining experience ever. If you walk in and it's empty.... Bingo! There is a reason for that. It's like street food but in a closed room...the chef is the waiter, the waiter is the chef.... Confused...You will be until you taste the food. AVOID!!!!

Can't recommend this place enough! The owner is so welcoming and cheerful and is the only chef there! It is a small but cosy/cute restaurant and all the food is prepared from scratch. We had soup and cheese garlic bread for starter and both were so delicious. We had pizza for mains which are the best I've had since I visited Italy!! You have to order a side of chips... they're so amazing! It's really well priced and he adds personal touches such nibbles before the starter and fruit or a lovely desert to finish.10/10! You must try this local gem

We arrived on a Saturday night at half six and we were the only people there until we left at eight. This was a real shame because the owner is a lovely man and the food is fine.Our highlights were a delicious calamari starter in a tomato and garlic sauce and also a slice of chocolate firm mousse/cheesecake with a warm pear side. A glass of red wine was lovely too.Sorrento Ristorante has always been small and friendly. It still is but it just seems to suffer from being fairly anonymous in the context of Park View and the town as a whole. Maybe more could give it a try?

Visited with family (who are Italian so can be a bit fussy about Italian food). The food was outstanding and home cooked. The atmosphere was homely and very friendly. Portions were generous and the whole experience was great value. We will be going back regularly!

Great little gem of a restaurant, had a lovely meal with husband and family. We will definitely visit more, off the beaten track but worth it for the authentic charm as its run by a lovely Italian chap.

I popped in to Sorrento after a long day, I was very hungry, which was just as well as the portion was quite large. I had a chicken dish, which although was tasty enough, I just thought the way of cooking it was a bit old fashioned. I will visit again though.

Visited whilst staying in Whitley Bay with a friend on a Friday evening. Entrance is up stairs, very grubby appearance. No-one else in restaurant. One waiter and one cook. Ordered glass of wine each and garlic bread. Both OK. Also spaghetti Bolognese which had hardly any meat in the sauce and pasta with ham and mushrooms in a cream sauce. Ham cheap supermarket wafer thin, sauce very thin. Cook/owner made us feel very uncomfortable by staring at us as we ate. Think we were overcharged by about £3 but left money on table and left as soon as we had finished eating. We could not wait to get out and would certainly never go back.

Would rather go across the road and have good wholesome home cooked food. There never is eve dense of customers going in at lunch time?

Having booked Sorrento's for my birthday celebrations I expected an authentic Italian experience and that's exactly what we got. The food was excellent starters were delicious and the main courses arrived with just the right pause between courses. Service was attentive without being intrusive,On the basis of our first visit, we will definitely be returning!

this was always top of our list for an italians in whitley bay , it alwasy felt authentic. We knew it had changed hands but we didnt realise that the quality had changed so much. The food just isnt the same

We live a fair distance from this place , however we come along every few months as food was always great and owners and staff genuinely lovely people . Visited tonight place was empty very strange I thought but hey it's early , ordered garlic bread with cheese it was like some thing you would buy from a supermarket . Asked where normal waiting staff were thought maybe on holiday or something , told that place has been taken over , main courses arrived calzone after quite a wait not to normal standard hardly any filling poor quality , didn't complain as no point as we will not be going back .... Bitterly disappointed

We entered not knowing what to expect. The entrance is shocking! The smell and decor needs rectifying ASAP! The waitress wasn't particularly lively or clued up.... Had to request some ice for my vodka & coke. But all was not lost..... The food was lovely!! A great cheap eat if you can see passed the decor and paper napkins.
