Soprano Tapas & Wine Bar in Tunbridge Wells

A table of 10 friends for dinner , we selected a pre ordered menu beforehand. The food was great, cocktails innovative and tasty , the service faultless and the atmosphere on a Saturday evening was buzzy. But the real credit was the service beforehand in making sure our wishes of table layout, food choices discussed, drinks on table and served as we arrived . This is the best place in Tunbridge Wells if you want a night out with friends, I love this place.

Recently ate here for the first time. Lovely venue with good food.

Great tapas food, staff was friendly, service was quick. I've been to high end cocktails bar, and this is up there with the best. 100% can't wait to go back.

The service, the staff, the food and the drink were all brilliant! best meal out in twells to date for us. So many bits on the menu that we still want to try so will be going back soon!

My new favourite eating hole in Tunbridge Wells. I have visited twice this week and both times we have been warmly welcomed and very well looked after. Food is delicious and portions good. It’s great value for money too. Looking forward to returning soon. Highly recommend the Paella and the Spanish omelette Yum!

Stopped for a cocktail and dessert. Enjoyed both, however be mindful of adding the high percentage spirit to the Soprano cocktail 😅

What a cracking little bar/restaurant. Staff were brilliant and helpful throughout. The food was great and the cocktails were next level. All were presented beautifully and with the right amount of alcohol content. It doesn't look much from the outside but it's lovely inside. Give them a visit.

Distinctly average food. Unsure whether it's Italian or Spanish. Service very friendly & great cocktails. The cazon fish was not great nor value for money. Booth seating uncomfortable.

Food was pretty good, great for a young crowd but I found it far too noisy to be able to have conversation over dinner. Just too loud for me

Spontaneous night out. Did not book in advance, but the owner was nice to fit us in at the bar. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. Music is a bit too loud. Overall, a nice place to visit.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The staff are friendly and welcoming and recognise regulars of which there seem to be many. The food is excellent and always impresses with plenty of choice and generous portions……….a great place to spend the evening.

The restaurant is a small place on the high street and has a nice busy atmosphere and feel. Service was ok and the food tasty. We were seated at the back of the restaurant in a tight space which wasnt ideal and not conducive for a relaxing evening. But a pleasant local restaurant serving good food.

Popped in for a bite to eat at lunchtime whilst visiting TW.Friendly waiter greeted us and showed us to a table.We opted for one of the lunchtime specials of a Barcelona wrap with fries and aioli dip....it was delicious and there was plenty of it, washed down with a glass of sangria. We could've stayed all afternoon and sampled some of the tapas on the main menu but sadly we had to return home.Definitely will return if we visit TW in the future.

We visited on 12/09/24 in the evening. Firstly I cannot fault the food. Excellent choice, superb quality and taste. Disappointed with our waitress. There were two waiters and one waitress. We were sat down with menus and had no time to discuss drinks or nibbles before the waitress was there. She seemed to be rushing us along which we resisted. When approaching our table she had a habit of putting her hand on my wife's back which she found uncomfortable, too familiar. When we got up to leave she said " walk carefully" ! I assume as we were the eldest in the restaurant, and we both have grey hair that it was a patronising comment relative to our age. We have no walking aids, heating aids or aids of any kind, we are relatively fit so we found this annoying. Waiting staff are not there to judge but to wait in a professional manner. I hope this will be addressed.

Went to have drinks with my brother sat at the bar where other patrons were sat. Bar man told us not to sit at the bar. Not Sure why, he asked us to sit outside or at other table. There was ample sitting space at the bar. We left the restaurant as we felt unwelcome as we were not allowed to sit where we wanted. No reason was given as to why we can't sit there.

It's really nice to see such a wide selection of veggie options in a tapas bar. All very tasty too. However, be warned this venue does get very busy and the music is very loud.

The food was excellent. The staff really friendly and helpful. The venue is quaint and I enjoyed the stool by the window; great for people watching. All in all I’d highly recommend and suggest you try it out.

I would highly recommend this place. We came for a birthday dinner and I couldn’t fault a thing. The servers were really attentive and did everything to ensure we had a lovely night. They also took great care over allergen requirements- they made sure we knew the allergens in each dish we ordered. The food was all delicious and the cocktails were impressive. The level of detail on the cocktails made all the difference.

Fantastic tapas, excellent wine, superb atmosphere. If you’re a local you’ll know this…if you’re visiting TW, you must visit Sopranos! Maurizio’s place is second to none. Highly recommended!!

Been a couple of years since last visit, but food definitely not as tasty, service definitely not as good (trying too hard as does everywhere), but still rammed with a good vibe. Would go again based on much better previous experiences.

Came in for one of our impromptu lunches. The food was absolutely delicious as always. We will come back again. And again. And again as we always do. Our favourite restaurant in Tunbridge Wells. And you serve our favourite gin!! ❤️

Wow! The food here is amazing. It has different offerings than the usual tapas places . The server recommended the lamb chops. THANK YOU Ali. Spectacular!!! The service is top notch. The place is busy but only 4 front-of-house crew and thenA1 team in the kitchen making it all work. The mixologist must need a liedown after his exertions (there’s a whole lot of shaking going on). Thank you for a lovely evening everyone.

This is a great restaurant. The service was great, the food delicious (especially the spinach balls, potato side and the croquettes) and the cocktails were something else. We will definitely be back!

We’ve been here before and loved it. The food is tasty and the service excellent, but the portions have been dramatically downsized. You needed a microscope to find the monkfish and the duck dish was a meagre spoonful. My Garden Of Eden cocktail was 90% shrubbery and ice - very pretty but we absolutely cannot justify spending this much money on tiny food.

My friends and I went to Sopranos on a Friday night a few weeks ago for my friends birthday and I must say, not the best service! When we got there we had to stand there for about five mins by the bar, in the way of the other customers. We were then seated and ordered our drinks (which took around twenty minutes to come), which were nice! However, the music was extremely loud and hard to hear what everyone was saying; which is not idea for a birthday dinner! We then chose what we wanted to eat amongst us and waited for the waiter to take our order… which never happened! Forty-five minutes later we decided to get the bill after no one had asked us what we wanted to leave until the waiter eventually came up to us and asked what we would like to eat, to which we responded with asking for the bill! we received the bill and five minutes later a waitress approached us and told us off for taking up a table on a busy night and that we had to order food in order to be there. Let me add we made eye contact a numerous amount of times with her and still she never came over. Pleased to say we aren’t going to be back!

Our first visit to Sopranos and we will be returning! Food was amazing, great atmosphere and staff were great. Prosecco sangria was also really nice. Petra and the team do a great job thank you

Great dishes and wine in a very lovely atmosphere. Music was super loud which might be off putting if you’re in the mood for something quiet but otherwise made for a lively Saturday night.

Tapas restaurant with god selection located in the main high street a short walk from the station . Limited street parking. Excellent good , well presented and reasonable portions . The cocktails were a little over priced but all come with a theme which added greatly to the evening and was fun. There is a bar where you can stains and window seats . It’s a little crammed but that not an issue . Very good for a night out with friends or as a couple

Visited Sopranos for lunch and wasn’t disappointed lovely fresh food and wine. The owners were very friendly and we will be revisiting again.

Didn’t plan to eat here due to only just returning from Seville. On a weekend break to Tonbridge our thought was “it’s not going to match Spain”. How wrong we were! The food is fantastic, everything we ate had a little twist to the original style of dish but definitely for the better. Prawns were gorgeous, patatas chorizo, bread and alioli was beautiful. As for the cocktails 😍 well….. let’s just say we’ll visit again in the summer to carry on where we left off.

Great cocktails, great tapas and a great atmosphere! I visited with my partner and by the second cocktail we realised we had to try them all (didn’t quite make it this time but we’ll definitely be back to finish the job!). We were advised to get about 3 different dishes each and it ended up being a great amount for two hungry people. The spinach balls, meatballs and cheesy garlic bread are all a must! Staff was very friendly and seemed to enjoy working there which made the experience for us.

I have been here several times and it's my favourite place to eat ever. This is a 💎 gem! Staff is so friendly, professional and always goes the extra mile to accommodate any changes or anything you ask for. The atmosphere is amazing thanks to the always smiling manager, playing the best music in town, the food is out of this world yummy and the cocktails?! You must try to appreciate!!!

Every time I come back to Tunbridge Wells I come to this place and it is my favourite place to eat. Tapas are truly amazing as well as the atmosphere with the kind of music that makes you wanna dance in the middle of the street. The cocktails are so good, the manager and staff are the friendliest bunch, can't wait to come here again.

The new downstairs seating area is great, perfect for a larger group. The cocktails are all amazing and presented in such fun ways and the food was all absolutely delicious and came out really quickly all spot on. Our favourite has to be the chorizo and ham croquettes and the hummus!

Having had a bad experience at an establishment in The Pantiles, we came across this great place which specialises in tapas. They kindly found us a table outside in the sun, despite the fact that they were very busy. We had a selection of five dishes a glass of rose and a cocktail. The food was delicious and the service excellent and can thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. We had Rape En Jamon (pan fried monkfish wrapped in Serrano ham served with roasted peppers and caramelised onions). Calamares served with an aioli dip. Pelotas Verde (Spinach balls infused with cheese, garlic and chilli with coriander yogurt. Champinones Al Ajo (Button mushrooms in a garlic and white wine sauce) and Costilla de Cerdo (tender pork ribs marinated in peppercorns, mustard an chilli sauce. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed

Picture this, me and my girlfriend went to celebrate the first Friday of September, a big deal I think we can all agree, by having a dinner booked for 8pm. Walked in, sat down, all good so far. Let me paint the scene. We sit down, I am thirsty by this point, the pantiles is a hilly place! It took 40 minutes to get a drink order. 2,400 seconds. Appalling. After that I ordered tap water, another 1,200 seconds. By this point I was hungry, as I’m sure you can all agree. Order food. Not that he asked, but I have a severe, and I mean severe allergy to both penicillin and wasp stings. Whilst I’m sure these allergies won’t be in food (lol), it is still the principle of asking!! Despite this, after 90 minutes, a full football games worth of time, we finally got our food. Our food was good to be fair. But the service!!! The service! When I say I’ve seen horror movies worse. When paying, the only quick bit of the night, I was promptly shown the door with no thanks, no kind remarks, no eye contact, nothing but a sour taste in my mouth and as I said, not from the food, the food was good.

The best Tapas I've had outside of Spain. Amazingly friendly and efficient staff! Great drinks list and cocktails and large selection of Tapas to choose from. Will definitely be going back!

Cool and trendy, with a great atmosphere, Soprano’s seemed busy every time I walked by. I am glad I stopped by this evening. Fantastic range of tapas options, from vegetarian, fish and meat, there is something for everyone. Service was perfect, and the food was great. Superb cocktail options makes it a an awesome place to chill, with some great food, service & drinks! The meatballs though… 👌👌

Really lovely lunch here. Ordered 2-3 per person and cocktails and all good was lovely. The prawns were particularly good. Only challenge was small tables and fitting a few tapas dishes. Would really recommend

Lunch with a friend one weekday. Had chicken wrap and a mojito - wonderful. Fair price. Not busy but need to book for an evening visit

The tapas was very bland. 3 dishes ordered & all had same bland tomato sauce over them. Not seasoned tasted straight from the tin. The tapas were also very small & expensive for what you get. The meat balls were like tiny marbles & you only get 4 of them.

This is a tapas and wine bar. We went for Saturday lunch, which was perhaps a mistake. Most of the dishes we ordered were good or excellent, though the Paellas did not please (we have spent 40 years travelling to and from the Valencia region of Spain, and eat a lot of paella). They serve beer, wine, cocktails all of which individuals in our party ordered and all were good. Service was very good despite all the tables being taken. Apart from the paella: my grumbles are that the noise from the other diners was excessive. I could hardly speak to my wife on the other side of the table. I'm not sure that this is Soprano's fault. Additionally I felt that acknowledgement of our exstence as we left would have been appreciated. I also felt that it was a bit pricy for what we got.

Amazing place to eat and drink recommended for a night out with friends or family

Lively bar with loud music and upbeat energy. We found the service a bit slow but it was fine. The food was really good, except for the Prawns which came out cold. Everything else was good, in particular the mushrooms, meatballs and the chicken skewers. Make sure you order bread though as its not offered complimentary and you'll definitely need it to mop up the tasty sauces. The cocktails looked amazing.

I would highly recommend this place! The food is very tasty, we were two and we order 5 delicious tapas which were more than enough. The cocktails are 10/10, they are definitely worthy the price! Especially when you drink them in such a nice atmosphere. Plus, the staff was very friendly, welcoming and attentive with a smile on their faces at all times. In my personal opinion this place is the best in Tunbridge Wells for a fancy drink and good music!

Lovely atmosphere, service and food :)

The bread basket was requested to be warm, but came cold. Lamb skewers we burnt and tasted of char. Battered courgette had only batter and no courgette. Fish was very dry. Prawns were just about edible. Salad was merely leaf. Cured cheese was hardly cured. The one item you will find in the attached picture that we did finish was the vegetable paella. The cocktail and sangria were nice so maybe good for happy hour perhaps but definitely not an authentic tapas place. I drove my girlfriend all the way down from London for her birthday dinner as I had been to this place before Covid and it was quite a good experience then. We thought we’ll walk around the Pantiles and end the day here as we love Tapas and have tried all the major ones in London including a hidden gem we found in Leicester Square and on our visit to Valencia. This time around the service was pathetic. We were allocated the window bar, and upon requesting to change to a table was rudely declined as ‘the place was fully booked’. However, there was an empty table behind us that remained empty until just after we requested our check but it was not offered to us. We were given a £11 discount on our £80 bill and we didn’t pay the service charge, of course will not be coming back again either.

Lovely fresh and delicious tapas. Had a lovely Birthday meal here. Only thing I would say is was a shame we were sat right by the door. But other than that I had a lovely evening.

I have been here twice and I can say it’s one of the best tapas restaurants I’ve ever been to! The food is so tasty and lots of it! The wine and cocktails are also so good and it always has a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely return next time I visit tunbridge wells 🍷

New Year’s Eve outing- Great cocktails, amazing wine selection, and we’re given then opportunity to move table given ours was facing the window. The food was beyond imaginable, with every dish tasting incredibly different but still bringing a natural flavour.

Disgusting behaviour from the staff. Cristian the bartender was so rude to us. Also he didnt give any smile or even welcome us. We wont be coming back again if that bartender still there.

Lovely staff and setting. Tapas is what you expect. Lots of small snacky dishes. If you’re looking for a hearty meal then this is not it. Deserts are not up to expectation. A home made tiramisu would have been ideal. I had a hard chocolate...

Friendly, inviting and yummy cocktails

Went in on the spur of the moment last Saturday night, they were full but welcomed us to sit at the bar and eat, which was in fact such a good place to sit! The food was fabulous, the cocktails amazing, the staff were superb and the atmosphere was wonderful! Would highly recommend! A fabulous inpromptu night. Thank you Soprano!

We booked a table at the bar for cocktails. Upon arriving, we were given an upgraded table at the window. The cocktails were delicious and presented beautifully. Service was good and the prices for the cocktails were brilliant too. Felt like an occasion, being out at Soprano's - highly recommend :-)

When looking for a date night during a stay in Tunbridge Wells I came across Soprano’s on trip advisor and going on its brilliant reviews decided to book it. Well it certainly lived up to and exceeded all expectations! The food was outstanding, the cocktails...

Excellent service, especially since we forgot to book a table on a Saturday night but were still given comfortable seats plus ample time to eat dinner, and absolutely delicious food! Also extremely reasonably priced dishes and drinks for the area, will definitely be returning again.
