Sonargaon Tandoori in Bromley

We have visited the restaurant several times and had lovely meals so decided tonight to order a takeaway. Very disappointed in our meal nothing like we had in the restaurant. The vegetable curry was like a watery stew with a sprinkling of curry powder. The bombay aloo was just boiled potatoes with a very weak sauce. The lemon rice didn't taste of lemon . Sadly we will not be repeating our experience and will look else where for our curry

Always welcomed warmly - lovely staff. Food was tasty and we all had very different dishes. Haven’t been for a while but every time we go the food is never very hot ( as in temperature not spicy) and we have to end up politely asking for it to be heated up. This would not stop us from returning as we love this curry place - but …. Please serve the food hot thank you

Outstanding service and food for a fair price. Starters delivered in good time, and we're very tasty. Mains came out together, and we're absolutely delicious. Service throughout was friendly and attentive. Price was £90 for three adults.

Extremely disappointed. Ordered a takeaway and waited an hour and 20 minutes for it to arrive. When it did the food was bland, with no taste and certainly a lack of spices. The sauces were watery and started to separate on the plate. Even the sauce with the poppadoms looked as if they’d been hanging around for a while. Not worth it, very disappointing and definitely won’t be ordering from here again.

I am of Indian origin and found the food poor quality. The Saag Aloo was just a boiled potato in flavouless saag. There are much better restaurants around.

I have been visiting this Indian restaurant for many years and Always enjoy a consistently excellent meal. I visited this evening with my family. My brother is over from Australia and was looking forward to a good authentic curry . He chose one of the signature dishes, which he said was delicious and tasty. I really enjoyed the King Prawn Puree. Having tried other Indian restaurants while visiting other areas I have never found them to match up. Sonargaon is definitely the BEST Service is always good too.

A family get together. Was surprised by this place it was very good. We went on a Thursday and it was a set menu it was great for us very good value. Staff was friendly and looking after our loud crowd bathrooms very clean a modern restaurant really enjoy the evening will go back

We visited this restaurant many times in the past and thought we’d pop back. We were so disappointed and certainly won’t be visiting again. Firstly, we waited 45mins for our starters, which were rather bland (prawn puri); our main course arrived shortly afterwards which had more flavour but weren’t particularly hot, just luke warm. The staff were friendly, one member of staff who was a bit over the top & not funny at all and the manager was taking photos of everyone! We waited ages (there weren’t many diners!) to pay and there was some confusion with our bill with an extra charge which was soon rectified. We have eaten loads of curries but unfortunately this did not meet our standards.

A lovely meal in a nice relaxing restaurant. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The background music was lovely relaxing music. The food was all delicious and at £12.95 on its banquet night (Tues n Wed) it was fabulous value as we were completely stuffed with delicious food for £50 for 3 people with a drink. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Had a lovely visit here, staff so welcoming and having a laugh with us. They helped give recommendations for us based on what we like without asking which was really nice. The food was lovely and the portion sizes were perfect! The waiters joking around with us made the atmosphere really enjoyable. Will definitely return!

The restaurant used to be a favourite of ours but the food standards went down and we decided to go elsewhere. We thought tonight to give the place another chance and ordered a takeaway. It was utterly terrible! The prawns on the puri were tough and dry. The puri could not be cut with a standard knife easliy. The papadoms were limp and stale. My Tandoori chicken starter had NOT been cooked that day as it was so dry as to be inedible. The rice and sag bhagi were ok no more. WE will never give another chance to this place. What a disappointment! God knows where their reviews come from!.

The crew at Sonargaon have always been very welcoming and friendly and the food is by far the best in the district. The chicken achari is, I think, the best South Asian cooking I’ve ever experienced - just an explosion of flavour. Not the cheapest restaurant in the area but worth every penny and more. It’s also very stylishly laid out in the restaurant, roomy and pleasant.

Booked here for dinner last night to find out that the restaurant was shutHave subsequently discovered that they had a fire a few weeks ago, but no mention of that on their website and was able to book and receive a confirmation email.Email address and phone number provided and therefore no excuses for not contacting us ahead of the booking and saving a wasted journey Clearly not a journey we will consider again

Not what we expected. We were really looking forward to this restaurant and we have used this restaurant before. We booked it for our sons 21st birthday however we waited long for our food and when it arrived it was cold. Now what was really bad was when we complained the food was cold they put it in the microwave and when we complained we were told it was impossible that the food was cold and basically called us liars. It completely ruined his and our night I Would not recommend this restaurant as they could have dealt with it so much better than they did. A course in customer service for the manager wouldn’t go amiss

Just visited the Sonargaon with friends using the eat out to help out scheme. Food was great, as usual, but when we asked to see the pudding menu we were told that there were no puddings as they needed the table asap. We had only been there for an hour!!! The waiter told us that last week they had to turn away 200 people and that they needed to get as many people in as possible. Not quite sure how that is our fault. What a shame that we were made to feel that our custom wasn't worth a full length of time at our table. I understand that while they were closed, during lockdown, they must've lost money, but to be made to feel rushed gives me the impression that the regular and loyal customer is worthless. Being greedy isnt a good way to treat people. It will be a long time before I return, which is a shame.

Food and ambiance was good but let down by not giving us the full 50% discount.Food bill for two came to just under £35 they took £15 off not the correct 50% - not sure how they are going to get this past HMRC in their accounts.We will not again as we feel cheated - although only a small amount it's the principle.

We have been using Sonargaon restaurant for years for take away and eat in so we’re very excited that it had signed up for the eat out for less scheme.The food was great as usual and the service was great. Very COVID friendly. What let it down was the bill. Our food came to £74 and instead of charging us half, £37, as they are supposed to, the charged us £44.We had no alcohol.Bit naughty I thought.

I visited last night with my sister and we had a fantastic experience. We had starters and was full so waited 30 mins before ordering mains, the staff didn’t rush us andChecked in with us for drinks. One particular member of staff was so kind and helpful. The food needless to say was absolutely delish and we left satisfied and they packed our leftovers to take home. I forgot my handbag and one of the staff ran down the road to hand it backOverall a fantastic experience will be making this my fave!!!!

I have been waiting for all the restaurants to eventually open and couldn't resist a trip to Sonargaon. The team have carefully abided government guidelines so don't be put off eating in as it was very spacious and clean. Brilliant food, we're vegetarian and there is always an extensive selection of dishes to choose from which is always a highlight. Staff were very accommodating and their hosting skills are a 10/10! Will continue more trips here now it's back open for dining in.

After 4 months was at last able to enjoy the Sonargoan Sunday Buffet which we have always enjoyed and it never let us down again. All staff taking safety precautions and buffet very safe to use and enjoy. Seating has been reduced therefore ring and book before you go to be sure to get a safe seat. All 5 of us today enjoyed the buffet food and enjoyed being able to speak to the staff. I have used this restaurant for the last 6 years and hope to continue doing so, their food and customer services is outstanding. Thank you to all the staff and especially Tony who is overseeing safety.

We visited here last night and had a great time !it's a large restaurant which was fairly busy and lively!staff were friendly and attentive, no rushing us for anything which was nice!Food was lovely great portion sizes, really good flavours!!three of us had main meals with chicken and one with prawns !plenty of side dishes plus beers and Irish coffees!got offered complimentory drinks too at the end which is a great gesture!all in all a really good night and would definantly go.back again !

This has been my choice of restaurant for ten plus year when it comes to curry no one else comes close. Food is always lovely service is great I often get takeaway delivered but do also go into the restaurant for meals the Sunday banquet is also a great option to try multiple dishes.

Initially this was going to be a favourable review, we arrive (4 of us). We had a good welcome and were shown to our table. Drinks were ordered more or less straight away and we were given the menus. We were offered poppadoms which we accepted. 3 of us had starters. The food came up and it was ok. Personally I didn’t think the food was as good as a nearby Indian, my friends liked the food better. At the end of the meal my stomach started to make ‘noises’ so we asked for the bill. When it arrived we thought it a bit steep, £125, for 4 people who didn’t have any alcohol this was extortionate. The bill showed that we had had alcohol, 3 starters, our mains and the soft drinks. The waiter took the bill away, I suppose to check with the staff that what we were saying was correct, he came back and insisted we had had alcohol, we again said we didn’t. He went away again and returned saying he had taken the alcohol off the bill and apologised. What he didn’t say was that he had also ADDED the poppadoms to the bill!! We were flabbergasted to be honest.....there was also a £12 service charge added to the bill. We didn’t pay that. Even though the alcohol was taking off, eventually, we only had 3 starters. 4 mains, 3 side dishes, a naan and one rice...the price was a shock. Overpriced for not great food. And two of us weren’t very well when we got home if you get my drift.I won’t ever go back there, there’s a much nicer Indian restaurant two mins down the road in Coney Hall.

Was disappointed with takeaway, no flavour what so ever, usually really good. My chicken bhuna just tasted of plain chicken.

We went with our family last Sunday. We booked a table, but not well in advance. We were a large group of 12. The staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet lunch was plentiful, with lots of variety. Some interesting flavours too. Everything was spotlessly clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our family meal.

This is a lovely restaurant, the staff are very nice, but the food has dipped over the last few months, not as good as it used to be which is disappointing. Would be nice to see it get back to how it used to be around this time last year

I ordered a takeaway from here last night and I was not disappointed! The food was hot when we ate it at home, the main dishes have plenty of meat in them and dishes are full! I would recommend ordering your takeaway from here on a Saturday night and you will not be disappointed :-)

A friend and I went this Saturday gone with our (grownup) sons. First time in quite a while and we only went because we wanted to mark the anniversary of a friends death and it was the last place we all met up some years ago. It was so good it made me wonder why I had not been back sooner.Starters, a selection of mains which we shared, through to after dinner aperitifs - everything was absolutely fantastic and I would go so far as to say, up there with the best Indian meals I have had in a very long time. My only criticism is that the service was a bit slow but as we were not in any hurry it was no problem.We will be back.

This restaurant is local to us and we always enjoy our visits. There is a wide choice of dishes and the food is very tasty. Tony the proprietor and his staff warmly welcome diners and you can see that many of us are regulars. The decor is modern and there is always a good atmosphere in the restaurant.

I came there on a recommendation with a party of 10 We had 7 kids with us the food was excellent and the service was also fab expect for one member off staff who for some reason decided that our kids was one of his own (I don't want to seem too explciste) he was very close to our children and it was very uncomfortable for us . I really don't want to take this to the local authority as my friends are good regulers But however I won't certainly be coming back myself This is what we have to say please kindly take this in the consideration . Part from that it was a good night out.

Just spent the evening at the restaurant for Valentines Day. The staff put in a lot of effort with heart shaped balloons. The main thing that l feel is missing from this restaurant is the lack of crisp white table clothes as l feel this would give the restaurant a mir up market look. The food is very good although my food was warm as opposed to hot when it reached the table. The staff are very nice and sociable.

We have had brilliant meals here at Sonargaon on various evenings although mainly a Saturday many times, food is always excellent & staff are some of the best recognising you immediately even if it’s been a while between visits.This was our first Sunday buffet which we came with the whole family & from young to old the food did not disappoint really very good with a nice variety.

Have been coming here for a couple of years for Sunday lunch and have never been disappointed. They do more variety of dishes than most other local Buffets, they do some mild as well a more spicy curries. The staff are so friendly and helpful and is always a pleasure to visit.

We ate there on a Friday night, having booked a table to be on the safe side. When we turned up the booking was not necessary as the restaurant was pretty quiet. The staff were welcoming but a bit slow coming to take a drinks and food order. The food was good - not amazing - but nice. The atmosphere is very nice and the decor a little different from a traditional Indian restaurant. Will probably visit again at some point.

Great evening, entertainment was really good BUT our food took 2 hours from being ordered to getting on the table. Being served curry at 11.45 pm on NYE was awful. We'd gone past being hungry, wanted to get up and dance and it was way too late to eat a big meal. Really disappointed that this spoiled our evening. At £60 a head we'd expected some delay on a busy evening but this was way beyond a joke. Staff and manager were apologetic and super friendly but it did not help our spoilt NYE celebration ! We arrived at 9pm as instructed by the restaurant, we waited nearly an hour before food orders where taken, despite asking several times. Such a shame !

We've visited Sonargon several times - as a couple, and with family - and have always had nice meals there.

Arranged to meet friends in West Wickham for a catch up and bite to eat on a Sunday Afternoon.Sonargoan was chosen and we were seated at 4.00 pm and straight away waiters were taking drinks orders and explaining the choice of Buffet or Full menu.

Great meal for work the other day. Food was fresh and had banquet night. Will be returning again! The king prawns were exceptional.

Used to go occasionally and returned for dinner.

Extremely disappointing takeaway. Both main dishes were just chunks of processed chicken drowned in runny ‘straight out of the gallon bottle’ sauce. Very unimaginative. Will not be returning, and will just get a jar of Patak’s next time.

I have always heard great things about this place, so I was a little surprised at how bad the service was. The restuarant was only 50% full, we arrived at 7.30, ordered within 20 minutes but didn't receive any food, apart from popadoms until 9.15. In fact, it seemed none of the tables were receiving any food, but at the same time there was countless takeaway bags coming out of the kitchen. On top of this we were struggling to get the attention of the waiters because they seemed too busy bagging up takeaway orders. Now, I accept it was a Saturday night, and the weather was poor so the takeaway orders would of been very high, but I do think priority must be to the patrons at the restaurant! Highly doubt we will return.

The best curry in West Wickham! Fresh, good portion sizes and reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend without hesitation.

I have eaten here twice with various different friends and it is so lovely. The food is amazing along with the waiter service. The owner couldn’t be any more friendly and helpful. One of my friends had never eaten curry before and instead of offering a Korma or Tikka Masala, the owner suggested a lamb dish which my friend really enjoyed. Would not hesitate to return or recommend.

Another superb experience in the Sonnargon. Great food and even better banter with the staff. If I was scoring my dream team I would give it an 8/10 as a minimum as it never dips below it. Best Indian for miles. Bob and Gill

As regular at Sonargaon we never leave disappointed. Very professional service and fantastic choices on the menu. My favourite Chicken Ticka masala special always wins. Highly recommended.

The food is good and service excellent. Ordered a take away for collection and can recommend the king prawns. They were quite busy but was worth the wait.

We visited this evening for a family birthday and was pleased to see they had a special Tuesday/Wednesday banquet meal offer. Which included poppadum, starter, main, rice/naan and a side! Excellent value and really tasty. We have visited many times before and all thoroughly enjoyed the food once again. Thank you Sonargaon!

Went there on the 13th April, had not booked but were given a table immediately. The service and food was outstanding. Wonderful yet professional sense of humour by the staff. One first visit and will certainly return . Really recommended.

Brilliant staff- very welcoming, especially Saran. Dedicated, hard working, friendly and efficient, attention to detail and pay attention to what you want. I’m a vegetarian and always have vegetable currie’s but wanted something different, the waiter recommended a lamb dish without the lamb for the flavours and variety of vegetables and spices it was a great choice. Great service, perfectly clean toilets and fantastic food 100% recommend more than 5 stars

I have been to all of the indian restaurants in West Wickham. This is by far the best!! Bar none. The service and food is excellent. They always greet you at the door, have a bit of banter and provide an excellent service. First went there 4 years ago on a first date. Still go back there with the missus (yes, she still with me..lol)...she loves it there. Keep up the good work.....

I was amazed how good the food was in this restaurant. The chicken tikka was fantastic. The staff were very attentive and smartly dressed.

As a couple and a family we love Sonagaon. We actually got engaged here back in 1993! In the old premises.

Visited this restaurant tonight—solo. It was practically empty. I asked to be seated and was ushered to a waiting area by the door. Eventually, the owner/manager came over and told me they were fully booked and there was no room to seat me because other people who had made reservations were about to arrive. Admittedly, a lot of tables were pushed together as if they were expecting large parties, so I accepted the explanation and went to leave. As I did so, two men entered the restaurant and requested a table. The first thing out of their mouths was “we have no reservations.” They were immediately seated. I went back in and asked the manager how come there was room for them and not for me. He became angry and agitated and kept telling me he had multiple people coming in. I said “whatever, I don’t really care” and started to leave. He started pushing his reservation book into my face, yelling at me that I must look at the book because that would show all the reservations, and trying to physically restrain me, grabbing at my arm. This was in front of all the diners in the restaurant who, along with the servers, were all staring at me. I seriously felt like he was intending to assault me. It was a humiliating and frightening experience, especially as a woman alone. I will never go near the place again.

6 of us went for a meal at the Sonagaon for a family get together. We sensibly booked in advance as my Brother-in-law and his wife eat there regularly and knew this to be advisable.

Every time Iv been to this restaurant the food has constantly been incredible, staff are so friendly and the menu has a huge selection! It’s definitely worth going too if you want a ‘date night’ etc as it’s super modern inside. Chicken Tikka Dansak is well worth a try!

One of our group had special dietary requirements and the person who took our order was so knowledgeable about the dishes she could have or indeed could be adapted. We all had fabulous meals with no complaints on the quality of good or service. We will definitely return!!

Had a few drinks first at the Railway, near West Wickham station, then a short stroll up to Glebe Way.

I took my parents here for my mother's birthday as a change from our local restaurant. The food was excellent: a great variety of flavoursome dishes (far more than just the standard currys although they are available too) and great flexibility over ingredients: I need gluten free and my father has to avoid certain nuts; all of which they accommodated with ease.

Came to the Sonargaon last night. Fantastic. Food has tastes to die for, service was brilliant because the waiter care - and have personality. My wife doesn't like Indian. Well she didn't till yesterday - and now I'm delighted to say I can take to an Indian in future --- as long as it is the Sonargaon. Such a memorable night and thanks for converting my wife to your special style of food. Be back again soon.

We went here for a family event, which happened to be on a Sunday which is when they have their buffet (at lunchtime).

Popped in on the off chance with friends and was met with a warm welcome. I was really impressed by the service, which was excellent. Lovely spacious airy restaurant. It was a Saturday evening and quite busy, however, the ambiance was intimate and not cramped like some restaurants. Really enjoyed my starter. It was exceptional. The mains were lovely and the staff super attentive without being annoying. Despite being busy the diners were not rushed like some places. The whole place was modern, clean with good old fashioned service. You felt a valued customer.

Actually never written a review before because it's not really my kind of thing. However, went last night with family from abroad and felt compelled to do so because it was an absolutely delightful experience (see title). The staff were exceptionally warm and welcoming from the manager to the waiters and to experience such service is increasingly rare and felt deserved special comment. The food was also excellent and taken altogether amounted to an absolutely delightful experience (see title).

Sunday afternoon lunch. Didn't have the buffet (which looked delicious) as wanted prawns. Anything we wanted was no problem and the food was the nicest Indian we have ever had. Customer service was exemplary. Felt so welcome - like we were regulars! House wine was lovely. We will be back.

A warm and genuine welcome is always a good indication when you visit a restaurant . We are never disappointed and regularly enjoy the food and service at the Sonargaon .

Always good. I think it was better when it was smaller but still excellent. Advise booking peak times. Some of the chicken on the bone tandoori dishes are simply amazing. Staff always friendly.

Loved the flavours in the food. Some dishes seemed a little overseasoned / too salty. My mum has also been without me and got undercooked food with her friends. I would recommend having a try as it does taste good.
