I have been having a curry from Sonali for years - I recognise its not Bombay Palace or Delhi 76 standard (and to be fair your not paying the same cost). I have always gotten a 7 out of 10 curry which is good enough considering its local and offers decent value. However, my most recent curry was really poor in that the sauce had no flavour and the "lamb" portion was minute and cut up finely - no doubt to make it look like i had "loads of pieces of meat". I won't be going here for a bit as I will need to venture further a field and pay that bit extra for some quality

Food not to great, quite plain if im honest ( especially for the price I was charged). The service was very poor no contact just food past over and card machine handed over the counter. I was SHOCKED to see the price of the food but I was in a rush and just paid and left . I will NEVER go there again , not even if I win the lottery.

Friendly helpful staff who provided us with a delicious takeaway and spoons to eat it with! Huge variety on the menu and the rogan Josh and balti that we chose were really tasty. Would definitely order from here again if we were in the area.

Chicken madrass gave me food poisoning,3 days of projectile vomiting over Christmas ! Please do not attempt to eat from this place ! This is what a £8 madrass looks like with extra chicken before it gives you salmonella . (See picture)

I hadn’t had a take away from Sonali for about 20yrs because I moved out of the area. However I’m back now I really fancied a curry tonight so went on line to find a take away that not only delivered but that I could also order and pay for online and Sonali Balti was the only local one that I could find. Delivery was stated as 60mins which was a bit disappointing as I was so hungry but I went ahead and ordered anyway. To my delight it was delivered 30mins later by a very polite young man. The food was piping hot and much more than I could manage, including complimentary poppadoms, so I have plenty left for another meal or two. The curry was delicious and just to my liking and the naan was light and fluffy. I will definitely be using them again!

Received a delivery last night, the first time I’ve used this restaurant. I’m afraid to say it’s not for me. We had a lamb tikka masala, chilli chicken masala, both violent red colour, with pilau rice, mushroom fried rice and a portion of chips. The food wasn’t bad and the portions were fine and my wife said hers was “ok”. Mine was “ok” too, however I would expect a chilli chicken to have a certain strength, which is why I ask for chillies! Extremely mild with it seemed a background taste of coconut, an ingredient I wouldn’t put int a masala sauce. I did find 3 small chillies in the meal. Pilau rice appeared to be boiled rice with some colouring, no cassia, cloves or cardamom flavours at all. Oh, the chips were tough and seemed old. Ordered via the website, countdown timer showing delivery time. Pointless, doesn’t track the order. Lastly, there was a service charge of 50p as well as delivery charge. I paid cash! If they’re charging for credit/debit card charges, this is illegal.

Absolutely terrible service and take away we waited over 3 hours for our food too arrive.we rang the restaurant over 100 times between us and could not get through once ! once the driver finally turned up he didn’t even apologise or explain why it had taken so long and too top it all off once we finally got too tuck into our curry most of the stuff was cold and you could tell it had been sitting around for ages. We will never order from here again !

Always order here best tasting curry I've had since moving to coventry 5 years ago recommend the north indian garlic chilli chicken 5 stars from 16b my mises also loves this place we struggle to find places we both absolutely love but we both love this place u have to try it.

First time ordering from here tonight - absolutely gorgeous food just a shame it arrived 20 minutes late and was cold.....

collected large takeaway on Saturday night - food quality (as always) was fantastic...no complaints. However, I had ordered 2 biryani and when I arrived home found that only one portion of vegetable curry was included. The curry which was included contained a lot of potato and very little sauce - gorgeous as it was it had to be split between the two people who had ordered the biryani's.......resulting in a very dry dish. So to sum up - Sonali has great food.....but they should really double check orders before giving them to customers.....I will certainly be checking myself from now on.

Live local and had many takeaways from the Sonali on Sutton Avenue Ordered one tonight 30/11/18, and in 3 different dishes the sauce was all the same, looked like it had been through a blender. A bhuna is usually a drier dish. This was slop. The Korahi looked exactly the same and it was supposed to be cooked with chillies and peppers and these were clearly added at the end of the cooking so couldn't flavour the dish. The Balti Chicken Tikka Massala again looked exactly the same, in truth the sauce was more akin in texture to tomato soup out of a tin. The poppadoms were bendy. The Bombay potato, the potatoes were overcooked and disintegrating, normally they should have bit of bite. I won't talk about the sheek kebab starter. The best things were the rice and chips. If you want an Indian takeaway find another one. They have modernised the shop and the cooking has changed and is no longer what it was. To cap off a memorable evening one of us was in the loo within 5 minutes. I guess we will all be going there soon.

Recommended by family and I was not at all disappointed. Very generous portions and an authenticity to the food. Delivery, albeit on a busy Friday night, was very slow and was 50 minutes late. Worth the wait? Sure, but let us know if there is a problem with delivery.

Been using for a while now, some of the dishes are excellent such as jalfrezi and biriani which we order regularly. Some are a bit of a let down, the chicken in a korma dish we ordered was dry tough and over cooked, the masala sauce tastes and smells like korma sauce with red food colouring in it! The butter chicken also looks suspiciously like a korma with a more brown colour. We will use again occasionally but only for the dishes we know are good.

Foods average, but don't ring and tell them your orders wrong. The man who took my order had to ask my postcode 4 times, but of curse he to my order down correctly and I was completely in the wrong!! Ruined our birthday celebration and will not be using them again!!

Me and my boyfriend ordered a take away, the food was lovely nice and hot and tasted good ! Also go free popadoms and free Bombay potatoes

Just moved into the area 2 days ago! 3 days before christmas! So thought the obvious option was to chose a local (hopefully decent) takeaway! And it certainly did that! ALL of the curries & starter we ordered were fantastic! The best keema nan i have EVER had! You can actually see & taste meat! Unlike most takeaways! Rice dishes were fresh & vibrant! Keema rice a personal favourite!! Delicious! Will definately order again!

We ordered a meal through Just Eat and were very impressed with Sonali Balti. The food arrived at the time we requested. The onion bhaji for starters were a little bit dry but other than that the food was very good.
