Royal Punjab Dhaba in Coventry

Use to be good food but seems recently the food taste specially veg curries has deteriorated a lot. Paneer in Paneer Tikka was so dry and just red color but no taste. Butter naan was good. Hope it improves.

I am indian desi and love to promote our local desi food bussiness however this is the worst place I have visited in Coventry. Young lad was on till (27 Sep 24) he did not spoke a work until when I wanted to pay, customer service was non, place was dark, I ordered fish pakor, just by looks you could tell it was in a freezer from last year. Why would you run a place like this. I hope the management team use this comment to make progress. Happy to have a chat

Used this company to cater for a family event at home. On time and hot food. Were able to cater for vegan options. Highly recommend. Will use again.

Incredibly authentic food, freshly made and such great prices for the portions given!! Chole bhature and daal makhni were an absolute win - highly recommend the food. Slightly dated restaurant with very basic cutlery/crockery but the meal definitely made up for it! Satta was really helpful too!

The management should focus on cleaning, good for takeaway but if you thinking about hygiene this not the place to dine in. Don’t try Bakra here.

I had the parata thali and it was absolutely delicious, very fresh ingredients used and great service. Great spot 👍🏽👍🏽 highly recommend this place.

Food don't taste good, not recommended trying hear

Had their Amritsari kulcha with mango lassi, really loved it. The food was delicious, portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely worth visiting.

Very greasy food, left smelling of oil on clothes and not friendly service

The cheese paneer paratha was spicy as anything. The egg fried rice had no egg in it, and the naan on the chicken tikka wrap was burnt.

Awful experience! Incorrect order, alloo paratha and gobi paratha had a bad smell. Egg fried rice had no eggs and smelled stale. Serving lady couldn't distinguish between parathas, and touched our food. Chicken tikka wrap had a burnt naan and no salad or sauce. Complaints were met with laughter from the cook, no apology. Highly discouraged, steer clear of this place.

Really good punjabi food, fairly priced, free parking. We will go again. Give 5 star if cleanlyness.

We had ordered a gobi paratha and instead, we got an aloo paratha. The paratha was bland and stank really bad, the chicken tikka was dry and the egg fried rice was horrid. The service was poor, the staff's attitude was appauling and once we had complained about the food, everyone went to the back and started laughing. If I could I would give zero stars but unfortunately I can't.Avoid going there. Would not recommend at all.

Came here with family when visiting family. The food was really good very authentic, between us we had chole bhatura, Amritsar kulcha, gobi pakora, paratha, chaat, golgappe and Indian masala tea. Everyone was happy with their dishes and the portions were very generous and not expensive. Would recommend highly for family dining.

Excellent place to eat food and drinks from a well known menu and very tasty food at lunch time great atmosphere for families and friends and individuals who like to dine out in style.

Really nice food! After mixed reviews, we weren't sure what to expect but we enjoyed it and will try other things on the menu soon. We had the desi Bakra, roti and chilly fish all of which were tasty and came in super generous portions. However, service could be faster and the ambience could improve.

We are order the samosa & spring roll but they are giving only spring roll then after that we are call them there one lady pick the phone & talking very rood but lots off time qe order the food from there that was fine but this time i m very upset beacuse they don't know how to talk a customer.

We ordered food for a birthday party. The food was amazing and i think the service as brilliant. They delivered the food well packed hot and on time. Would recommend especially as they cater for your needs and are reasonably priced. Communication was on point. Will defo use again

If you are missing home cooked food or craving authentic Indian food then please do visit this place. The Chole bhature are best on town

I recommended this restaurant to my work colleague for a birthday party, she loved the food. The starters were amazing, mix grills papdi chaats and pakore were delicious 😋 also the currys and naans were so tasty, especially the desi bakra and butter chicken. Definitely will go there again and recommend others to go.

Very rude person on the phone couldn’t speak English properly! When asked for delivery he put me on mute then spoke to some one and said you have to order minimum of £30 for delivery although their leaflet says £20 ! Liars !! Avoid at all cost.

Very disappointed with the quality they have downgraded. Served us aloo pranthas which they made it in the morning with a small butter on top. In addition , owner is not accepting that he made it in the morning, he keeps on telling us that its fresh!!! we didn't asked for the Takeway that he had given us pranthas which was made in morning. We sat in the restaurant and they should have freshly made at that point ... Very disappointed, came after 15 years , will never come back and recommend anyone .. to the owner- pls go to Nakodar sweet shop in Soho road Birmingham,you will see the quality of paranthas they serve .

We usually get a takeaway whenever there is an excuse for not cooking :-) Excellent for Chole/Chana Masala, Tarka Dal, Sarson Ka Saag, Shahi Paneer and parathas. Haven't tried the rest of the menu. Reasonable prices, highly recommended!

Bit hard experience. We ordered chicken biryani it was like a tomato rice with some different odour. Malai kofta smells like having Dabur chyawanprash. Don't dare to try this.

Pre cooked chicken tikka served up only partially reheated. The meal was only lukewarm and cold in places. Health and safety take note. Chef needs advice on the dangers of serving partially reheated chicken. Food poisoning waiting to happen. Used to be a regular but I won’t be back. Best avoid this place.

Visited last night and ordered chicken tikka on naan. I asked them to cook it fresh. It arrived quickly and it was immediately obvious that it had been cooked earlier and only partially reheated. In fact it was in my view a large plate of food poisoning waiting to happen. The cook obviously needs advice on the dangers of not reheating food thoroughly before serving. Health and safety should take an interest. I, for one will never revisit. Avoid this place.

Good quality tasty food, but ambience is not great

My friend invited us for a dinner treat, we were so hungry for the food and we thought the wait would be great, but the food was so out of taste that we decided we won't come back again, the sizzler n chicken tikka tasted the same, chilly chicken was stale n taste was pathetic, veg manchurian was made with tomato puri and was just tangi n no taste, chicken biryani was not biryani it was fried rice with lots of oil, only sarsoon ka sang was ok and samosa chat was good, wish they could bring back their old cooks

DO NOT ORDER TAKEAWAY. Ordered aloo gobi and when I opened it at home, it stank.. thought it was gobi smell but when tried it, it tasted off so returned it and owner kept arguing that it’s fine.. took a while and a long argument to get refund. I’m now ill from food poisoning just from one bite.. disgusting!!!

We went there as a group. The staff were young probably students. Bar was good as had my favourite beer Cobra. We were booked into a separate room For starters we had sizzling grills - that were good but too many chicken wings in Sizzlers Main meal we had plough rice, Chicken curry and Keema - All were good except Chicken appeared to be frozen chicken thawed, cut into squares in curry Sauce.The place was busy and young staff were stressed but still they tried their best Main entrance lounge - they need to have a good extractor fans - all fumes come from Kitchen into lounge and make it uncomfortable to breathe. Better Ambiance since new owners have taken over running the dhaba.

Genuine Punjabi food, clean and family friendly place. Happy & welcoming staff. Paratha's were outstanding. Do ask for day specials, they make more variety of paratha's than those mentioned on menu so ask if they can custom make for you!! Happy & welcoming staff.

I just ordered chicken masala with butter naan but i must say their naan were in bad quality tasteless and even they looks like satle item. Disgusting i never ever want to recommend it. It is really unexpected that this kind of thing was happened with me. Totally wasted of money.

Ordered food for small party and hers the list of failures tikki was like eating stones, chilli paneer like eating rubber, chane no taste, fish pakora just full of batter it's the first and last time I use this place ended up getting pizza very embarrassing at my wife's party would not recommend to anyone

After reading the reviews I ordered via user eats. Would not recommend anyone to order for delivery. The food might be nice when fresh. But was really cold and bland. Wrong prathas sent and missing yogurt. Could of atleast sent spoons for the kheer.

Food is good, when it finally comes. Order was wrong but because of the wait you just keep quiet, or you'd be waiting forever. Sticky tables, stickier floor. Last thing you want to do is touch things in the loo but there's no soap or handwash to clean your hands with. Waitress needs to get some lessons in manners & stop arguing when she gets the order wrong. Won't be coming back. Thank you Royal Punjab Dhaba

Feels like Indian street food. Don’t be put off by the shabby decor and canteen like feel. It’s popular with locals and really good tasty food. The cold Cobra beer was on point too.

Cheap but you get what you pay for. The rice isn't fresh, it's all lumped together, the food is way too spicy even though we requested it to be milder, the staff do not understand you at all and we were made to feel uncomfortable. This place is clearly aimed at the Pakistani community as we noticed people arriving after us were looked after very quickly. The basket containing the poppadoms was dirty as were some of the cutlery in the holder. Napkins very thin, not absorbant and we were only given one each. There are plenty more better restaurants than this.

went there recently ordered chole bhattroa the bhattroa was absolutely drenched in oil when I spoke to person at the counter they said it was a new cook and still charged me for the food

The Royal Punjab Dhaba has been a favourite Indian restaurant for me and my regular Friday night curry club buddies. However, in recent weeks, it has gone from true rustic Punjabi food to below average run of the mill Indian food. The tarkhaa has been replaced with a blended sauce; they’ve just lost their unique style. The starters are not prepared fresh in the tandoor but reheated in an oven. The naan have become thick and stoggy. Real shame! If they have changed chefs, please bring the original chef back. Not angry...just sad that the only true Punjabi Dhabba in Coventry has lost its touch.

Bought bittergourd from this place and was told it was fresh. I asked that if it was fresh twice and they confirmed that it was both times. When I got home it was frozen, and when I went to call them about they said that I was lying and didn't know what I was talking about. They were very rude and argued with me about it, I highly do not recommend this place

I had a delivery off bukra with rice, nann and salad for 20 people delivered promptly on time... The rood (bukra) was as requested and was amazining, the boys enjoyed the food very much as did I. Thanks and keep up the good service.

We ordered 8 meals and some extras, as a bit of a thank you for friends who helped us with a home project. We had take-away food from this restaurant before and we enjoyed it. Unfortunately this time the food arrived a little late, but not a problem, however there was a problem, 1 meal was completely missing, and the sauces for 2 biryani's were missing, also there was no writing on any of the curries to differentiate them? I rang up straight away and possibly got a sorry, but the reason there was an issue was because they were busy? I asked for the missing food to be delivered as soon as possible, and was told they would correct the issue next time we ordered. This was obviously unacceptable as three people couldn't have their meal? After trying to explain this a number of times, I was hung up on, after being told they would sort it, but no explanation what that meant? It did put the dampners on the evening. No more food came and to be honest we tried to make the most of what we had. The next evening I tried to sort again, and spoke to the same person, he explained that the biryani sauces were complimentary (which we knew they weren't) but they would deliver the sauces to go with our biryani's and the missing meal. Eventually one sauce and the missing meal came, one sauce short. So on the phone again, was hung up on again, but the missing sauce came about 2 hours later. A real shame as we had been enjoying the food here, but will not be going back.
