Friendly café/restaurant with a great range of food on offer. We were only in need of some hot drinks on a cold, but sunny day. However, we decided to add a delicious shared carrot cake to our cappuccino and pot of tea

Had researched cafes on internet and decided upon Solway Tide. Was not disappointed. Excellent service, plentiful delicious sandwiches, not a garnish, but a fresh salad and good coffee. The garden looked delightful, toilet very clean. We mused on the reason for a rope across the doorway and waiting to be seated, we came up with several amusing reasons. It was a calm, well ordered venue with a very pleasant atmosphere. Thank you.

This café has an odd welcome: there's a rope asking you to 'wait to be seated' right inside the doorway. This was okay for us two, but a family of five who came in after us were forced to leave the door open as they crammed into the small space - odd... Anyway, our drinks were very good & they had non-dairy milk for my hot chocolate.

We visited as a group of 6 adults and 6 children. The lady gave us a very warm welcome, offering to jig the tables around to accommodate us all. The children's menu is simple but perfect for children. The Carot and Lentil soup was amazing and my two girls polished it off and wanted more. I had the chicken, bacon and mayonnaise toastie, this was beautiful and full of flavour. Everyone in our party commented on how nice their food was. The lady who welcomed us gave us lots of information about activities in the local area. When you visit anywhere for the first time the big question is always, would you visit again? ... ....Well we did the very next day! Even the children asked to go back. Excellent tea room with attentive, friendly staff and 5 star food. Thank you

What a lovely little local restaurant with delicious food and friendly service. My husband and I moved to Kirkcudbright about two years ago in Sept 2021. Solway Tide Tearooms will be our frequent simple lunch eat out. Though the food is simple and straight forward but they are delicious! My usual is toasted bagel with cream cheese and carrot soup combo. When the weather is nice, sitting in the back garden would be my choice. It is also pet friendly.

In Kirkcubright for the tattoo weekend, we found this place by chance on day one. In four days we visited three times. Once for a light lunch, once for tea and scones and finally for tea and traybake. Food was of a high standard and sandwiches freshly made to order. Our only disappointment was that on visit three they were sold out of scones! Eat inside or out. The garden is a little piece of paradise.

Very bizarre serving everything in plastic disposable glasses, paper boxes and bowls with wooden cutlery that snaps easily. If I'm sitting in and paying restaurant prices I'd rather like a bowl and a plate. I'm all for compostable takeaway containers but is it not environmentally better to wash a plate? Bagels were OK and soup was nice but thin. Not great value for money. Young girls serving were pleasant enough.

From the street there is little to draw you in as it is right opposite town principal carpark although this does not detract from what is a delightful historic town with a Georgian element and many art galleries However from the street there is a little glimpse of what is behind the facade and it tempts you to venture down a side cut de sac and hey presto there is a little verdant oasis of calm. The service was friendly and we had a fresh made in house scone and the mother of all cappucinos - I requested a dry where they just used the froth and not the liquid milk and it was perfectly prepared - up there with best as coffee itself high quality

Delicious food and great service! We both went for paninis and a coffee and thought it was great value for money too. Not a fan of the wooden fork and knife but that’s just personal preference but can see why they are doing it so good for them!

Had a family day out to the emergency services day in Kirkcudbright which was really good. We then decided to have lunch at the solway tide tearoom. It appeared to be a lovely quaint cafe. Ordered a selection of paninis which tasted ok, however the bacon was clearly of poor quality as was the red currant jelly. I was also disappointed that they were all served in cardboard carry out boxes and wooden cutlery when we were sitting in. I would expect plates and normal cutlery if paying to eat in. I then took my little 3 year old boy to the toilet as he urgently needed to go, as young toddlers do, whereby the toilet was in use. The staff toilet door was lying open & I asked if my little boy could use this in his urgency. The owner did not allow him to use this toilet for ‘hygiene’ reasons so he ended up having an accident as a result. I thought this was absolutely unacceptable and I will not be returning!

We went in for a quick lunch shortly before 2 pm. As it was a cold, slightly wet day we were looking forward to the soup but sadly it was all gone. There was a very limited menu as the chef was off sick following an accident. We ordered 3 paninis but only 2 came. After waiting some time we asked the waitress where the 3rd one was (the waitress who had taken our order had finished her shift). Finally, they made another one and it was brought to us. They were most apologetic about it. All in all, it was a bit disappointing but we've been there before and will go again. Hopefully, there will be more on the menu next time.

Weather absolutely appalling but town busy for the arts and crafts weekend . Solway Tide busy but service quick. Everyone dripping!!! Had carrot and coriander soup, brown bread-artisan. Thick hot spicy. Followed up with early grey tea.

A lovely warm welcome from the Lady serving us and so far the best breakfast I have ever had in Scotland (and I've had a few). Cafe is spotlessly clean and prices are fair, well worth a visit in my honest opinion.

This cafe served the worst scone I have ever had / didn't have. (and that's saying something as I'm in my 70s and have had a few in my time. You could build a house with a few of them. Inedible expensive rubbish. It came in a paper bag, no plate and a wooden disposable knife which struggled to cut it. The coffee was served in a paper cup. But was drinkable. Cost over £13 for two coffees and two inedible scones. I am disgusted and will definitely won't be back

Visited the Frothy this morning for the first & very last time as the cafe is closing. Whilst the cafe was comfortable the coffee wasn’t the best ever tasted and we were stunned at the price! Compared to other coffee houses close by it was surprising; could this be a reason they are not finding it profitable?
