Solstice Bar & Grill in Wiltshire

Pretty mediocre, and hard to find tucked away behind the Holiday Inn.

During dinner, I went to bar and asked bartender if they have a local draft beer. At first he recommended Stonehenge Ale, which was only in bottle, so I choose Worthington's Creamflow. He said he'd let me try it in a small glass because i might not like it. Fortunately I loved the beer and enjoyed a pint of it with my dinner. How kind of him.

Food served quickly, staff friendly

Absolutely amazing 3 course for fathers day. 16 of us and all was so good from top quality food to outstanding service. Couldn't recommend enough. Amazing price also

A pesar de algunas fiestas turísticas más grandes que claramente habían terminado de comer, solo vi algunos solos y parejas, no ocupados. Así que me sorprendió que tardara casi 40 minutos en llegar. Tal vez el personal de la cocina tan presionado como dos atentos pero claramente ocupados personal del restaurante, con el barman troceando también. De todos modos la hamburguesa llegó con salsa de pimienta en grano pedida como extra. En primer lugar el bollo no se veía ni tenía textura, sabor del bollo brioche anunciado. Slaw era muy acuoso y soso. Lechuga y rodajas de tomate bien salpimentadas. La hamburguesa se veía genial, espesa, hecha a mano por su apariencia, pero si ese es el caso, pregúntale cómo quiere la gente que se cocine, ya que estaba en el lado seco, pero lo más importante es que era increíblemente insípida, apenas tenía condimento y apenas podía probar la carne. La salsa de pimienta en grano me ayudaría, pero menos salsa más líquida. Sabor a pimienta pero no espeso y cremoso como yo esperaría. Las patatas fritas estaban pitillo en el estilo, pero tan saladas que no pude terminarlas, y eran lo mejor! Me preguntaron si había terminado, pero no cómo estaba la comida. Muy cansado después del viaje y el trabajo, así que no podía molestarse en participar en el inicio de una discusión. ¿Habría pensado que mi cara y la cantidad que me quedaba sería una señal para pedir? (ver foto). La mayoría de las comidas no dejo nada. Todavía parcialmente hambriento y £ 3. 50 para una jarrita de salsa de pimienta es robo. Quizá otras cosas sean mejores pero no volveré con prisa.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn for 3 weeks for a work trip, and I ate at Solstice most nights. It was so great, why would I bother venturing out anywhere else?! The restaurant staff made me feel so at home over the 3 weeks I was there, and everyone was so friendly! Special shout out to Joseph! The food was great too, and there are plenty of good menu options so I could change it up every time I ate here.

Fantastic Sunday carvery. Joseph made us feel incredibly welcome and a 5 star experience. The food was first class restaurant quality and lots of GF options. The Head Chef looked after specific needs personally and the quality and variety of food was amazing from starters, salads, sirloin of beef, pork and turkey, to a fantastic variety of desserts and even specialty coffee. Highly recommended

Went here on 28th Jan 2024 for their monthly carvery. Superb meal, well laid out & good choice & portions with 2 or 3 courses, whichever you wanted. Attentative staff & Manager Joseph was superb, polite, friendly & excellent at his job. Tables neatly set out & nearly all full. Would recommend people try it. Good value for 3 courses.

Worst meal experience I've ever had. 1. I called to book a table, the hotel receptionist put me through to the bar who picked up the phone and immediately hung up after ringing for some time. Clearly didn't want customers! I rang back immediately to advise what had happened however the hotel receptionist immediately apologised and said "I'm so sorry that just happened, I just watched them do that, I'm furious. I will go through and speak to them now and ask them to pick up the phone". This should have been my warning not to book here! 2. I was put through a second time and booked again. On arriving at the restaurant, they didn't have any reservation in my name, despite advising me on the phone they'd booked a table for me. 3. the pizza was a £1.79 frozen pizza from Lidl. Confirmed by the supervisor working that night when I verbally complained. He said he wasn't happy that they had purchased a Lidl frozen pizza to serve but that was the decision that had been made by the kitchen staff. 4. The chicken dish was frozen, then tasted like it had been reheated. It wasn't edible. 5. 1 steak was "ok", the other steak was rubbery, disgusting and looked like it had been freshly picked up from the road. 6. We waited ages for the drinks to arrive. 7. The server brought out an incorrect drink, eventually replaced it with the correct drink. We were charged for both drinks. 8. At the end of the meal when I asked to speak to the supervisor, I was told he had gone outside for his break. I had to sit and wait for 5-10 minutes for his return. He returned to his staff but didn't make any effort to come over to me, I had to find him within the restaurant. I've made three separate complaints: In person complaint ignored. Telephone complaint ignored. Email complaint ignored. I'm still waiting for a response to all three and these were made months ago!! I suspect they're not going to bother getting in touch! The customer service in this place was appalling from start to finish.

Went today for a roast dinner that is served as a buffet style and must say it was terrible for the price of the meal £25.00 3 course there was 1 option of starter being a soup that was actually nice however the roast dinner was shocking had cold meat no veg at all and asked for brocoli and mixed veg and got 2 carrots(whole) and 3 small lumps of cauliflower..the potatoes were stone cold and the deserts were none existent there was a good range however nothing was being replenished as it was eaten by other customers so for me and my partner there was a one slice of cake and that was it again nothing being replaced absolutely shocking they expect that money for them options when you can go just across the road and pay a lot less and keep going back for hot food and a good selection also with deserts prepared in the kitchen and not buffet style..the staff were stood doing nothing most of the time and there was empty hot plates in the buffet area. The chef seemed to not understand what bread sauce or broccoli was im not one to leave poor reviews only good normaly but had to mention this and will not return

Awful, truly terrible. Booking was disregarded by staff. Phone was put down on us when we called (twice). Drinks order was wrong.....and took all eternity to arrive. Restaurant was almost empty, so not sure what the issue was here - plenty of staff seemed to be hanging around. Paid ~£15 for a pizza sourced from the freezer in the local Lidl, normally retails for ~£1.79 - confirmed by the duty manager. Could've stayed at home! 😅 Other individuals' dishes were uninspiring, totally devoid of flavour with poor quality meat. Manager and other staff didn't really seem bothered about any of our concerns. Still waiting for a call back from head-office months later - won't be holding my breath. 🙃 I couldn't recommend less! Diabolical service, borderline inedible food, fairly high prices. Avoid - you'd be better at any of the fast food restaurants in the area instead.

Honestly just go to Harvester across the street. You’ll literally get bigger, better portions of food and pay much less for it.

We have eaten several times before though only soup and sandwiches which were good. This time we decided to have Sunday Lunch. There's no special Sunday Lunch menu and we were uninspired by what was there. My wife opted for scampi & chips. The scampi was parcels of a fishy paste. The chips were chip-shaped pieces of what tasted like powdered mash. I asked for nachos etc with pulled pork. The pulled pork looked like regurgitated paste or perhaps baby-food. I admit it tasted meat-like. Both plates went back only half eaten. Looking around the clues were there. A vast restaurant in mid Sunday Lunchtime and we were one of only two tables in use. The other table of four included a very elderly couple who, when handed the menus said "oh is this it, don't you do a Sunday Lunch menu anymore". The waitress offered us a free drink as compensation for the lousy meal. We will still break our journeys there but limit our order to a sandwich, it is a good sandwich bar. If I was the chef I would be embarrassed.

Shockingly poor food at really high prices. Harvester nearby which is a lot better

After not going there for may years we decided to try it again which was well worth doing. We certainly will be back twice a month. The service was brilliant and the waitress and manager were very helpful. We also felt very relaxed there. The quality of the food and the size of the portion's was perfect for us. As for price. You only get what you pay for so must expect to pay more that the cheaper options like Table Table, however you would immediately notice how much better the quality and service is. A good example is that when we asked for tomato ketchup it was brought to us on a stearate plate whereas the lower quality establishments just give you a small amount in a dish, assuming they remember.

Nice waiter but although it was a very quiet lunchtime it was a very long wait for our meals. We all ordered ice-cream for dessert and this took ages to come

My friend booked for us to eat here, when we arrived 13:00 I was surprised to see it was nearly empty.... Should have given me a clue, afraid to say this place is not as it was!! 23 Dec and yet there was no Christmas menu and don't do cocktails or even a martini!? Not very much of a choice: I had a chicken club sandwich and my friend had a chicken ciabatta. They were ok but nothing that was great. Under impressed, we decided to go somewhere else for a drink and dessert and hopefully some Christmas spirit. Not sure I'll be back if I'm honest.

Unfortunate that due to personal restrictions not the full Menu was available. Booked a 3 course menu with the room for dinner, could only eat à la carte as they did not provide any menus, which I have booked… À la carte was of course more expensive…would await more from holiday inn than that…

Not very busy when we arrived, which I have to admit was lovely... Time for a girlie catch up. I thoroughly enjoyed my food, chicken club Sandwich but it was so filling, I only ate half and took the rest home. My lemon tart was delicious. My friend wasn't too enthused with her Mac and cheese, thought it was too dry so didn't eat it all, but didn't take it home either. She certainly loved her Crème brulee though. I would recommend eating here as I've always had a good meal and think it is reasonably priced.

This is a really nice location, a well designed restaurant, pleasant staff but a really boring dinner menu.

That was the worst meal I have had in a very long time! The lamb bone was bigger then the meat! Please avoid, you would be better off going to McDonald’s

Stopped for lunch here while using tesla supercharger, and was pleasantly surprised. Veggie curry was absolutely delicious, full of lentils and vegetables. Kids ate sausages and mash and the penne bolognese, with clean plates all round. 10% discount for tesla owners. A million times tastier and better value for money than the nearby Harvester.

Nice staff with a menu offering a variety of foods. Portions were good and service was above average. Drinks were fairly priced as was the food.

We stopped here while driving to the south west, primarily to use the adjacent electric vehicle charger. We went in with fairly low expectations, but how wrong we were! The staff were great and the food superb. Everything was freshly cooked and very tasty. It was so good that we stopped by again on the way home from holiday.

Ordered lamb & chunky chips, the meal came with some cheap oven chips covered in salt, advised I don’t like salt, was offered fresh they arrived and I asked why my chips had table salt on them, was advised the menu said lightly salted, checked the menu not correct. Went to eat tomato covered in salt, mushroom (sorry half a mushroom) covered in salt, took one bite of lamb and you guessed it covered in salt. The staff looked over several times but seemed reluctant to help or to be honest uninterested

It's a nice setting. Well laid out, airy. Reasonably well staffed. Polite and welcoming. We were 8 plus children for Sunday lunch. Everything pretty good until the main course: The single worst slice of beef I've ever been served anywhere in UK or abroad.. It wasn't just tough, it was inedible. Truly awful. Rest of the food passable but I shall not visit again despite the fact that our options locally are shrinking for a Sunday lunch. Dreadful.

Stopped off here before going to Longleat Safari. Restaurant was clean and looked fresh. Food was delicious HOWEVER, service was absolutely terrible! Staff did not appear to want to be at work and the waiter flipped open our bill and announced to the whole restaurant how much our bill was. Would recommend if you can put up with terrible service for good food!

Brilliant Food Great Service and value for money

We had a lovely meal, ribs, harissa chicken and sea bass. The rib eye unfortunately was tough and had a piece of gristle running through it and the potatoes a little undercooked. The staff were lovely and very apologetic and did give a discount. The creme brulee sticky toffee pud and cheese board were fab though. I couldn't give a perfect score for that reason. Would go again though. Great service.

David and his team could not treat you any better. Its very rare to find a restaurant that treats you like royalty. We had an issue with a med/rare steak and within minutes we had the correct steak and a complementary drink. It’s how you pick up the ball and fix the problem that counts. You must visit the team. Best restaurant for miles. We will see you again David 👍🏼👍🏼💪💪

Clean and tidy restaurant with a professional & modern feel. The coffee and cake was nice. Not to experience as modern establishments add that modern extra price. Give it a go!

Large and relaxing atmosphere as part of hotel. Wide range of food from the grill. Maybe a little dear. No complaints really and will return as convenient and better than all the other standard chain stuff in solstice Park.

Whilst they were able to fit me in short notice it was clear to see why. The food was low to average quality pub food although the service and waiting staff were very good. I booked this place for pure convenience (business meeting on the main transit route). Would I eat here again, if I needed a short notice booking and edible food for the function of eating and not pleasure of food, then I would come here again.

Handed two menu's. Many of the dishes are the same on both menu's but different prices for exactly the same dishes. Be careful what you select or you will pay more for exactly the same thing. Take care when ordering, don't get ripped off.

Lunch very good today. We come regularly to meet family for changeover of children and find the HI very comfortable and convenient. Bar staff very slow today but everything else fine.

Friendly service and lovely food. My only, very minor, criticism is that for some reason the drinks took a long time to arrive. Everything else was prompt and the quality lovely. I guess that might be the system they’re using... Recommended

Average, REALLY uncomfortable seats. It is what it is, a hotel lobby/bar. Dull.

Had a great meal whilst staying at Holiday Inn, evening meal service was excellent food quite tasty I had chicken on dauphinois potatoes and sugar snap peas and green beans from the daily set meal,my wife had sausages on mash potatoes both meals delicious highly recommend other menu quite extensive of fish meats and vegetarian dishe.

Had a fantastic day in Easter Sunday at the pool with the family. The food was amazing and our server Nicole was extremely fast and very helpful with suggesting drinks and cocktoals to us. She made us the best mojito I have ever had! She made sure we had everything we needed throughout the whole day. We will be returning soon. I highly recommend the solstice bar and grill to everyone

Upon arrival we were seated, and ordered our overpriced drinks, three of our drinks came well enough however my wife's bottle of wine came separately and the member of staff who brought it over appeared to have taken an unexplained dislike to my wife, banging drinks down in front of her and generally being very dismissive of her.

Had booked a table. Drinks served and we waited for starters. After about 30 minutes we were served with our mains. Asked about the starters. Oh sorry we've cooked all the mains so will give you your desserts free as it's our mistake. Food was lovely but as we were facing a TV screen, asked for channel to be changed as it was showing a house cleaning programme and someone had there hand down a toilet!! Was it changed. No!! Had more drinks and desserts. When the bill came the desserts had not been taken off. Took the staff a further 30 minutes to sort it out. Food and drinks were good but this is not a cheap place to eat so you expect them to get it right. They also need to update the menu on their Web site as somethings we wanted were not on the menu. Have been here a few times and not been disappointed before. Maybe they were having a bad day but it wasn't busy and no one seemed to be in charge. Shame as we like it here so maybe we will give it a miss for a while.

We have been to the Solstice Bar &amp; Grill for their Sunday lunch buffet on numerous occasions. This time it seemed that there had been a mess with the OpenTable online bookings. Our booking was not recorded and we heard at least three others with the same problem. As a result, the restaurant was under-staffed so drinks had to be fetched from the bar as there was no table service. The waitress informed us that the staffing reflected the fact that the manager seemed to have been unaware of the online bookings so the headcount was considerably higher than expected.<br />Generally the roast is good value.

Dit restaurant is gelegen in het Holiday inn stonehenge. Het interieur is eerder sober zakelijk maar de bediening is zeer vlot en behulpzaam en de grillgerechten lekker. Men kan er steak, vis of burgers bestellen. Men heeft ook lekkere bieren .

Had Sunday lunch here today and never again will we eat here. Leek and potato soup was not good for a starter it's my wife's favourite soup and she left most of it. Choice of 3 meats beef was very tough, pork and turkey were ok. Vegetables were a roasted melody, courgette and cabbage something and cauliflower cheese. Not ideal with children as all heavily seasoned with various herbs. Dessert was the best course various items cheesecake, chocolate fountain, fruit and a mediocre chocolate cake. Service was good and atmosphere in the venue also good hence the 2 star rating.

Enjoyed our meal. We booked a table but when we arrived the staff didn’t have this which was disappointing. <br /><br />The meat and vegetables were lovely and we would like to come back again.

So, we came for my dads birthday meal having been recommended. We arrived and were feeling really cautious as the heating wasnt working. We were given a table and heaters to help, telhe bar was empty but service was great. We had a cake brought out for my dad and a free glass of bubbly. Thanks for a great time

Went for Christmas Party. The food was loverly, it came out quick and was hot!

Looking forward to a nice meal after reading a couple reviews online. However, upon arrival things quickly took a turn after members of our party have recognized a waitress who has previously caused discomfort. Taking this into consideration brought me to the negative reviews. Safe to say my expectations were lowered. Upon being seated at a round table in the center of the room, we felt a draft and it was quite cold. This was later corrected by turning up the heating. (Thanks Billy) We didn't receive a menu to select our drinks from, so I went to the bar to see which drinks they offer. For meals they had a nice list. No starters as a category, yet that's a minor preference. I ordered the usually meal, a rib eye steak cooked medium. Some time after ordering I was asked which sides I wanted with my steak. This was confusing to me, as it is clearly stated on the menu. As a starter we had the daily soup, which was quite nice. A little salt made it pop. After around 40 minutes wait, our mains arrived. I was already a little puzzled by the presentation as the steak look well done. The dish itself wasn't badly put together but something wasn't right. Cutting the meat on one side was tough. It was well done, the fat wasn't rendered and the seasoning was unevenly distributed. One bite salty, the other bland. I was hoping the thicker part of the meat was cooked more to my request. Little did I expect, it was raw. A raw steak isn't bad, but raw and well done in one when you order medium... it baffles me. Eating more of the steak I gave into the unwell feeling building up in my stomach and retreated briefly. Safe to say, I wasn't happy. The other dishes all looked great, little feedback was given. Less mayonnaise on the burger would have made it better. The Fish'n'chips were good and the Indian food was nice. The desserts (crumble) were nice, although a tad watery. Most likely defrosted. All in all it was a shame. As a lover of good food and service I coudln't bring myself to leave a good review. No matter how nice the next service shift was. Props to Billy for turning it into an acceptable experience towards the end.

Great service, nice coffee and nice space to relax in away from the hubub of Solstice Park

Not a fan of large restaurants, but attending a Course, decided to stay for lunch and I am so glad that I did. The food was amazing and probably the best meal I've had since arriving in England a few months ago and eating out a fair few times, including in London, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Wiltshire, oh and North Wales, although the food there was very good! Back to the Solstice, the Staff were nicely attentive without being invasive, the chairs were comfortable, the restaurant was light and airy and although huge, it didn't seem so. Perhaps it would at weekends, but the temptation of their advertised Sunday Carvery could rise above that! The main thing was the FOOD which was absolutely delicious with every mouthful.
