Afternoon tea was amazing. Delicious homemade food. Surpasses more famous afternoon tea destinations. Excellent value for money.

What a gem of a place. Met a friend for a chat and business meeting and lunch. Could have stayed all day. Food outstanding. Customer service first rate. Prices bargain. Highly recommended

This was our first visit and won't be our last. Went with friends from York. Lovely atmosphere, great music, friendly staff., excellent prices and gorgeous chocolate and beetroot cake.

My friend and I was recommended to have Lunch at this little cafe bar, We were pleasantly surprised how lovely this was. Service was wonderful and we couldn't decide what to order because there was such a variety on the menu which was reasonably priced. The food was delicious and plentiful and homemade. I had salmon fish cakes with a chilli dipping sauce,salad and coleslaw. My friend had an enormous piece of quiche,salad coleslaw and crisps. The cakes also looked very nice but we were to full to eat anything else. Definitely will be back soon .

Second visit with the chaps. What a lovely cafe. Great food, great staff and great prices!! We will certainly be back. Disappointed they are not open on Mondays, otherwise our next lunch date would have been a revisit!!

This was a perfect venue for a private birthday party. From the initial booking, through to the end of the party itself, both Fran and Frank were exceptionally accommodating and welcoming. We had some specific dietary requests, all of which were very well catered for. There was an abundance of delicious food, wonderfully presented and enjoyed by all. Fran's attention to detail ensures that every dish is first class. We had several musicians who were willing to sing and play, but the set up made switching between prerecorded and live, effortless. What a great atmosphere! Thank you from all of us. We hope that Solos continues to go from strength to strength.

Whilst walking in the area my wife & I went to Solo's for a coffee & tea. I approached the counter & ordered a green tea & an americano. I went back to ask if the scones were dairy & wheat free. No! was the answer. The table my wife & I sat at didn't look as though it had been cleaned from the last people to use it. The floor around the table had quite a lot of crumbs on it. We had to remove crumbs from the seat pads before we could sit down. The chairs were the seat pad met the upright were full of crumbs. My wife said her americano was not as good as previously, a bit weak & my green tea was not nice at all. The tea had been made in a tea pot that was heavily stained from black tea. This made it taste very unpleasant. The tea should have been made in a mug or at least in a tea pot used only for green tea. The cafe was not busy so there was time for staff to observe good practice. We have used this cafe before and never had a complaint but something has obviously changed due to the lack of care & maintenance of good practices. What a shame. Things need to improve.

Delightful. Had originally booked Nu Bar but we were told there was a 55minute wait for food (and it didn't appear too busy) so were quickly accommodated at Solos. What an good change of venue. The food was lovely, plentiful and quicky served - and considerably cheaper than Nu Bar.

Whilst out for a walk through the fields to Willerby we came back down Kingston Road & called into Solo's for a coffee before continuing back home. We were warmly welcomed on entering & asked to take a seat & our order would be taken. After a short wait our order for 2 coffees was taken. My wife had a mocha & I had a latte. The coffee was really good & nice & warm. The gentleman serving us was very friendly & polite. Although the cakes looked very tempting we managed to resist them. The cafe & toilets were very clean.

My first visit but husband and daughter have had super breakfasts there. We had this bought for us as an Anniversary Gift - Prosecco Afternoon Tea. The selection and quality of the sandwiches were amazing, and the variety of cakes wonderful, we will all definitely return. No wonder the place was full. Thank you Solos!!

Our breakfast was nice, presentation was nice and the bread was particularly nice but my sandwich was missing the chutney and the service was not good. I almost felt like we were an inconvenience asking for too many things! Price was good for our food but unlikely to return.

We live around the corner and wanted to try somewhere new to eat instead of the usual pub breakfasts! We were not disappointed! We were greeted by a friendly young lady who promptly took our order and made our lattes. The food arrived in good time and although you can go places and have alot more food on the plate the amount served here left you full but not stuffed and feeling sluggish which was nice! Was nice to see unusual bread used as toast and not just cheap white sliced bread other places would use! I felt this little place had a nice community vibe to it and a few of the older patrons enjoyed a good chat with the chef and the server which is lovely to see! The price for the food was actually very reasonable for the quaility we recieved and wouldn't think twice about returning

I have had lunch at Solo's many times and the food is always excellent - always fresh and delicious. Today I went for afternoon tea with a friend and it was absolutely lovely. All delicious freshly made sandwiches, lovely cakes, scones, jam and cream. Excellent value for money and very friendly staff - nothing is too much trouble. Definitely worth a visit!!!!

We had a mid-week lunch with ‘the girls.’ It was our first visit and we were impressed. I had the cheese plate (£7) and the others had quiche and salad (£7). All looked very inviting and the slices of quiche were huge! The food was great and we will definitely be returning for our next get-together. There was also a chap playing the guitar. It was very tuneful and unobtrusive. I highly recommend.

The food was tasty. The waitress unfriendly, unwelcoming and had very little table etiquette and for this reason I will not be returning. Her demeanor was as if she could not be bothered to serve us. Due to severe health problems this was supposed to be a rare treat for me. Very disappointed.

Booked a private evening party on Saturday 12th March. Brilliant night. Fantastic food and service from Fran. Live music from Street Life was a bonus and worked so well. Thanks again.

Absolutely amazing venue and food for a naming ceremony/bday celebration. Lovely intimate venue and the food as always was plentiful and delicious and most importantly homemade. Such a great choice, and any dietary requirements catered for no problem. Service was brilliant can never do enough to help and so friendly with our children we felt so at home. Just made the day so special and I would definitely use solos again as a venue or for catering. Thankyou so much Solos!!

The best cakes and scones I have ever tasted and so fresh! And delivered to my door within the hour. The Afternoon Tea was ordered at the last minute to celebrate Fathers Day by my daughter and the response from Solo’s was magnificent. Very friendly and helpful response to a last minute request - brilliant!!

I visited this cafe one quiet weekday in the afternoon and found the staff to be friendly and the food reasonable. The place is pleasantly decorated and the food well presented on a trendy slate, if I remember rightly.

Took mum and brother to solos to try the evening experience after having several exceptional lunches made by the Fran The food as always was delicious homemade lasagne ..chilli..yummy cherry crumble Franc was so welcoming and the music was great Fran runs solo to the highest standard Makes all her own delicious food and always has a welcome smile It really is our favourite cafe ..EVER We often go for lunch and everyone we take absolutely loves it It is so popular dont forget to book!!Well done fran for all your hard work and lovely jane too .Look forward to going back soon 100% excellent yummy food

Arrived at solos at 11.31 to be told we couldn't order off the breakfast menu as it finished at 11.30. Very disappointing. Will go elsewhere in the future.

Visited Solos after casting our votes! Never been before nor had it been recommended by anyone... in for a penny we thought. I had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs which was delicious. The salmon was good quality, the eggs soft and creamy. The toast was thick and crusty. Of note ( and it’s often the small things) there were three olives as a garnish, they were quite simply the loveliest olives I have ever had! My other half had his obligatory full English, it was plentiful and well presented. Two eggs, 2 bacon etc etc. We both had coffee, which arrived in good sized cups ( that lasted the duration of meal). All of this came to £16, outstanding value. So, if you haven’t heard... Solos I would thoroughly recommend.

We hired the cafe for a family birthday. The food was excellent and all home made, the hosts Fran and Frank were very attentive without being intrusive and we had great live music. It was the perfect venue.

There were not many people in when we arrived, yet it was still a lovely atmosphere with the 2 singers in the background . The food was lovely and the owner professional as ever . Would definitely recommend.

Tried this place many times totally fresh home made food I don’t know how she does it , quiche to die for my dad is hooked on the BLT!! He is now a regular ! Just so recommend this place

Had a fabulous night on Friday, took visitors from Scotland and they said it was the best night out they'd had for a long time. Food really good and entertainment great. 75 year old birthday boy sang on the open mike and was awesome. A really good night

I'm risking not being able to get a table by sharing this diamond with you! Perfectly placed on a bus route and in easy walking distance of residents of Willerby, Anlaby and Kirkella; this cafe, bistro cannot be praised enough. I visit regularly and feel very comfortable dining on my own (husband is not a cafe person) with a friend or in a larger group. The food is fabulous - with a huge selection. Particularly good is the opportunity to taste dishes from the exotic countries Fran and Frank visit on their annual holidays. Soups, Desserts and Cakes are all delicious and the place is extremely clean, light and airy with very hospitable and efficient staff. Music nights and special events are dotted across the year and occasional solo performers in the daytime give the venue it's fascinating title. Don't miss out - it's a must.

Recently visited this cafe and it was actually perfect. The service was impeccable and they made us feel welcome. The coffee was great and plentiful. However the food, oh my, the food was incredible for such a small establishment. The menu and its items were put together carefully and brilliantly and was perfectly cooked. We have already planned to come back another day later in the evening for the live music and a few drinks. An absolute gem of a cafe and perfect hosts.

Went for an early lunch and it was already quite busy at 1130 (good sign in my opinion). There was seating inside and out, but we opted for inside as it was a very hot day! Ordered a pannini and my partner ordered the spanish platter. It was gorgeous!and such a reasonable price. Nice big mug of coffee, chilled atmosphere, music wasn't too loud and the staff were so friendly. Will definitely be returning! Hopefully for some live music on an evening.

I booked Solos for my friends surprise baby shower based on a recommendation and it did not disappoint! Fran the owner was extremely helpful and everything went smoothly. Solos do not open on Sunday’s usually but you can book it for special occasions. We had afternoon tea and the food was simply divine! Gorgeous selection of sandwiches and cakes that were so delicious! Very reasonably priced too. The place has a lovely atmosphere and we all thoroughly recommend Solo’s. Will definitely visit again!

I had my 75th Birthday party at Solos last night there where 26 of us and what a fantastic night we all had we had the hot and cold buffet and what a good choice that was the food was 1st class a really good selection all freshly prepared .The service from Fran and her staff was excellent nothing was to much trouble. For our entertainment we had Graham and Phil two great guys who kept us entertained all night. I would like to say a really big thank you to Solos music bar for making my Birthday party such a memorable night.

Recently had a fantastic afternoon tea for two at Solos. It was a fantastic experience as it always seems to be whenever I attend this super little music cafe.

We have been here a few times as my wife is a celiac and they have a great selection of gluten free sandwiches and fish cakes chilli etc , it is a small place but very friendly with live music on certain days I would recommend solo bar for its food and friendly atmosphere

We went to a special japanese night. The food was so authentic and really tasty. It was clear a lot of effort had been put into the menu and we thoroughly enjoyed it. When the musicians came on they weren’t too loud so our conversations could continue with background music. Highly recommend.

Came here to listen to my nephew on Saturday night was a bit crowded because on two large birthday parties but was still very enjoyable the place was very clean staff very friendly and made you welcome .although we didn’t have anything to eat the birthday party’s did and the food looked very good we will come back and try the food next time

Went here on a Friday evening with my family, to watch relative sing there. What a lovely, warm atmosphere. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful home cooked food. Had a great night listening to all of the artists, and even had a little dance. Will be back to sample the lunch menu. Thanks for great evening. X

This was our 2nd evening meal here for 20+ people - what a great night. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was great. Fran and Frank (owners) couldn’t do enough for us - top service - really looked after us all. the music was great - a real good mixture. We will definitely be back again soon.

So I’ve walked past solos many times not stopping and going to the bar next door for food! I have just had a lovely lunch well presented and fresh. Sat outside in the sun. Inside busy as well I will go back!

What an fabulous day we had . Lovely atmosphere with friendly staff. The food was delicious, mixture of hot and cold dishes, all freshly prepared on the day. So many of our family had never been before, but, one thing for sure, they will all be paying another visit. The afternoon entertainment was a big hit too, great music by Phil and Graham of Streetlife. Thanks to all, you certainly gave Mum a special day for her 80th.

We were driving past and having seen Solos pop up on a number of our TripAdvisor searches decided to give it a go.

Went with friends. The wives had fishcakes amd the men tried the Japanese beef curry-both meals were delicious. Bakewell Tart & Apple & Blackberry Crumble went down a treat. Really enjoyed the meal. Great place to go.

Visited with friends who live locally. It was brilliant. Small premises with big personality! Fantastic food. Owner/ staff very efficient and friendly. You are in for a real treat if you get to hear the live guitar which is excellent.

I celebrated my 60th birthday at Solos and we all had a fantastic time !

On 12th December, 29 of us descended on Solos to celebrate my 70th birthday. I had chosen the buffet supper and what a good choice it turned out to be. The food was truly excellent and so much of it , dish after dish of wonderful creations kept emerging from the kitchen. There were hot dishes, cold platters, vegetarian and vegan options just so much variety and choice. Something for everyone

We held my Dad’s birthday party here , the venue is just perfect for parties of 30 or less , the room is modern clean and bright and well laid out.

Quality music from near an afar. We were lucky to see Daniel Champagne, a top singer/song writer and guitarist from the States, give a mesmerising performance as he started his UK tour. A fixed menu supper was provided as well. What more can you ask for? These special evenings are ticketed at a very reasonable price. On other evenings there is no charge for the entertainment and the food and drink menu gives a wider choice at a fair price.

Thankfully, we reserved a table for the 4 of us. All had something different from a pretty good menu. My cheese platter was excellent. Service was great and the background music from the guitarist was just right!!

Had lunch with friends, the live music added to the great atmosphere, really enjoyed the lunch menu, will be back again for the breakfast menu with a friend.

Love coming to Solos, food is fantastic, portions huge, prices extremely reasonable. The salmon fish cakes are delicious and homemade, as is most everything that Fran (the joint owner along with Frank) serves. I can especially recommend the scrumptious Bakewell tart, scones and brownies - absolutely more-ish! Fran and her assistant are lovely ladies, friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend.

Lunch was great. Chicken salad,lasagne and chorizio panini. Nice place but tiny. Service was good and not to pricy.

I wonder why I have not visited here before, what a little gem. Nice relaxing, comfortable place to have a coffee or a bite to eat. Staff very efficient and friendly, I had a cappuccino which was very nice. The day we went they had live music on, nice guitar music playing in the background, just at the right volume so you did not have to compete with it whilst having a conversation. Will definitely be back for a bite to eat next time as the food looked delicious. A very popular place, this speaks volumes.

Visited solos cafe/restaurant yesterday for a family hen do. We booked high tea. Everything was amazing. Food so fresh and recently prepared to order. Far to much for us to eat so doggy boxes wete provided. We were made very welcome . We ran late but they stayed open for us without question. Highly recommended. Thankyou. Today my family surprised me with afternoon tea at solos for my family hen do.

Have visited here a few times before, as we go out for breakfast most Saturday's. Food is usually ok. Didn't get as far as food this morning. Mrs went in to place order while I parked the car. She sat being completely ignored for 5 minutes, while waitress served other tables that had arrived after her. I arrived to a very annoyed Mrs. Still nobody came and took our order so we left. We try to support local businesses, but ended up giving our £30 breakfast money to Frankie & Bennys this week. Shame but will continue to support local, but won't be rushing back here!

I went for breakfast this morning with my partner but went in on my own as he was struggling to park the car. I sat for ages waiting to be served and was completely ignored. The woman who was sat at the table next to me was also on her own waiting for friends. The waitress came over to her table 3 times to take her drinks orders and bring refreshments whilst I still sat there waiting to place order for drinks and food. I left and won’t be visiting again. I go out for breakfast a lot and try to support local business but yet find myself eating breakfast in a chain Frankie & Bennys instead. Such poor customer service

This place could be so much better than it is, the food is always excellent, only one lady in the kitchen doing all the cooking. But the service is poor and slow.

Visited here with some family and my baby daughter. It was lunch time and quite busy. It looked like there was just one lady serving, service was slow, table we sat on hadn’t been cleaned, and we had to ask for menus twice, but we let it go as it was busy. The food was good, I had a wrap, didn’t serve chips or wedges tho? I took my baby to change her nappy, the toilets are greatly sign posted and there’s twists and turns to get to them, there was no changing facilities? There were two little toilets at the back, the first one was occupied, so I went into the second one, no changing table, so I struggled with her on my knee. Would be far better suited as one large toilet, for male/female/baby changing/disabled.

The food and service was excellent it's a friendly popularity place to eat and me and my family would definitely recommend and go again

Really enjoyed my lunch - Italian plank with some hams, salami, soft cheese and delicious fresh coleslaw! Coffee was excellent too. Service dead friendly. Deserves its top billing!

This was our first visit to Solo's and as soon as as you walk in you are welcomed by the friendly staff. The food is excellent and is great value for money. The entertainment is great especially on the last Friday of every month. We'll worth a visit.

I have recently hosted a baby shower for my sister-in-law at Solos Music Cafe and I couldn't be happier with the experience and the service that we received. The owners were very accommodating as we had several dietary requirements within our party. The food was absolutely amazing and all of the guests commented on how lovely it was. We opted for afternoon tea for the guests which resulted in a lot of food been left over, boxes were passed around the tables so that guests could take food home with them which was lovely. In addition to the amazing service and food there was also live music in the background throughout the afternoon, this was really special and all of the guests commented on how lovely and relaxing this was. This was a lovely touch that we wouldn't have had at another venue without paying extra. I cannot fault Solos Music Cafe and I will definitely be returning, I've also no doubt that the guests will return too as we had lots of lovely comments about the amazing venue. Thank you very much to the lovely staff for making a special afternoon so perfect!

What a different and pleasurable experience rhe solo music cafe is ! Privately owned business with a heart and soul. There food is wonderful fresh home cooking and the music- guitar- was fab ! Very broad menu for cafe ranging from excellent choice of home made cakes to sweet and savoury snacks to more substantial meal. Owner/staff very welcoming and very efficient service.

We were going round to our frinds but they had been here a few days before and wondered if we fancied going, so we qwent and it was excellent. The food was excellent, the service was excellent and the ambience, with the guy on guitar was great. I would thoroughly recommend this music cafe-you must visit.

I've been here a few times in the past whenever I'm visiting family in Hull. It seemed the perfect venue to hire for my mum's surprise 70th. The fantastic, home made food is still being talked about amongst friends and family, as is the lovely service and warm atmosphere. The live music is perfect and adds a personal touch. Honestly can't fault this place. All guests were very impressed. I always think it is important to support local businesses and it's rare these days to find a place that isn't a chain.

Been promising ourselves a visit for so long, so took the plunge with Mrs F this lunchtime ... loved the fish cakes (and the live music). Great food, friendly and helpful staff, varied menu choice for diners, reasonably priced, and the live music created a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back soon and recommend a visit!

Solos feels like a second home to us as we love it so much , we spend a lot of time here! You are made to feel so welcome by owners ,Frank and Fran . Frans fresh home cooking is delicious and her lasange is the best we have had . All her cakes are freshly made and just too good ! The music suits every mood and having a coffee whilst listening to frank play his guitar is perfect . The music evenings are great with such a variety of guests , you are never disappointed. Super home made food, lovely atmosphere and good live music. I came here with my daughter, we wanted somewhere casual with excellent food and Solos certainly was a good choice. The live music was two guys with acoustic guitars singing, it was absolutely fabulous. Would highly recommend.
