Soi in Melton

I won a meal for 2 at Soi. The manager was extremely helpful, helped us choose from the menu. The food is excellent, and a lovely atmosphere, would highly recommend

He a lovely meal here. Service couldn’t have been better, met at the door and taken to my table and had a pint of cobra in front of me in no time at all. After being given a few minutes to look at the menu, I was asked if I needed anything explained. I didn’t, I placed my order and the food was brought in good time, I had the chicken achari, which was lovely. Good sized portions and good value for money. The food, ambience and service was excellent and I look forward to visiting again.

We had a nightmarish experience at Spice of India in Melton Mowbray. The horror began as soon as we entered; despite having a booking, we were left standing for a torturous 20 minutes. To add insult to injury, another family, who arrived 10 minutes after us without a booking, was promptly seated. Whilst waiting to be acknowledged, we noticed the staff arguing amongst themselves, blaming eachother for things that were going wrong. This should have been our warning sign to leave! The nightmare escalated when our waiter spilled a scalding-hot curry on the floor, drenching my wife, our 6-month-old baby, and me. Shockingly, we were abandoned for a horrifying 10 minutes, soaked and ignored. It was an appalling display of neglect and incompetence that left us questioning the restaurant's commitment to basic customer care. In addition, the waiter who clumsily spilt the curry didn't even acknowledge our distress, let alone offer an apology. It was as if our discomfort meant nothing to him, leaving us feeling utterly disrespected as he continued serving the table behind us. The lack of basic courtesy only heightened the horror of an already dreadful dining experience. A complete disregard for customers' well-being is inexcusable and makes this establishment a place to avoid at all costs. Let me mention again, MY 6 MONTH OLD AND HIS PRAM WERE COVERED IN HOT CURRY! The lack of an apology or any attempt to address the situation reflects a gross disregard for customer safety. The Manager came out to speak with us after we created a fuss and could only offer us his apologies and comped our meal (which we had waited over an hour for and still hadn't received). We opted to take it home as we did not want to sit there drenched in curry. Upon reaching home, we discovered the Naan was missing and the Prawns were half cooked. The food like the experience was a disaster. The manager asked for our number so that he could call us back the following week. However, I missed the call. Upon calling back several times and leaving a voicemail, I never heard from him again. Hence resulting to leaving this review as the restaurant has to be held accountable for their negligence. Our hope is that others won't have to endure a similar traumatic experience in the future. And an expensive dry cleaning bill to get the curry stains off our brand new pram!

I have used this for a delivery. The food arrived well within the time scheduled. It arrived hot. We had prawn korma, peshwari naan breads, rice, onion bargees and samosas. All the items were delicious. This is our first time of having food from this Indian take away and it will definitely wont be the last. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic - we came from Sunderland and decided to go here for some food! Staff was so friendly upon arrival and though out our meal, if was also a great price, food was also amazing I would give 6 stars if I could - if you want an Indian this place is to go, Thankyou again for the fantastic service and food!

Long time returning customer whenever I'm back in the area, they have never let us down. London quality food at northern prices, try the lollipop chicken it's incredible.

Visited soi after hearing good reviews about it although didn't read any before visiting, and have to say our experience was disappointing from the start. There was no staff at the bar to great us or anyone when they entered and then was lead to a table that for two which almost felt like it's stuck out the way. The person who served us was very pleasant and nice yet didn't seem very knowledgeable about the dishes when we asked about them, and didn't off to ask anyone else who maybe more knowledgeable about the menu. Then once the starters arrived it felt like certain staff where watching over our shoulders almost to see if we had finished as was no question to see if the food was ok (which was good), which I find rude, as soon as it looked like we had finished the starter they where ready to swoop in to clear the table almost as they wanted to rush us onto the main, which I have to say was disappointing after how good the starter was. The lamb in mine seemed very dry and not freshly cooked and the same for the chicken in my partners which was also very greasy, I would of complained but again the staff didn't seem very approachable and seemed more worried about watching how quickly people ate their meals to be ready to clear the table. Also the staff as watchful as they are couldn't see we had finished our drinks and took serval visits to our table to ask for we would like more, when I was finally asked and a drink was brought it wasn't brought to me it was just dropped almost slammed to the table on my partners side. Upon leaving when saying goodbye to the staff as we always do to be polite we was completely ignored. I have to say we won't be visiting again purely down to the poor service as there is much better out there with the same level of food quality.

We ordered take away from here and it was terrible. chili paneer was swimming in grease , potato bhaji were rock hard we had to chuck them away not edible. On top of that they were delivered in illegal containers. we ordered a pickle tray but no pickles came with the order, only reason i give 2 stars is the mali kofta and rice was just passable but not much flavour. The things they got wrong i can cook better myself. chef needs to check out Raks kitchen website to learn how to cook

This is the second time we have been. First time was when it first opened and the food was not great so we did not go back for years. Recently we had heard that the food had improved so decided to give it another try. Food was disappointing, bland with spices not hitting the right notes. Service was good, but food was average at best, we will not be going back in a hurry, as there are better Indian restaurants in Melton.

1st visit to SOI Melton with my wife & teenage kids. The service was quick & polite. The starters were amazing Chilli panner & lamb chops Mains were also delicious keema & chicken curry & my kids had chicken tikka masala (standard) garlic chilli chips were all very nice.

This was our first visit following recommendations from friends. We were met by cheery helpful staff. Dining area was spacious ,COVID guidance was clear and followed by all.Pickles and popadoms were slightly disappointing, small portions served in plastic takeaway pots.Main courses were really good, different from what we are used to. Tasty well good generous portions. Rice and naan portion were on the small size though.Overall good food , good value too.

Ordered a take away .. we are new into the area and thought the reviews looked good. We are a big family so in total the meal came to £140 so you would think they would want to provide a good meal to impress someone spending that much money so we use them again.Ordered the meal in the phone was difficult enough .. I asked if it was possible to have a mixed meat dish and it was like they have never come across a mixed dish before... they didn’t actually know what it was! Asked for chicken tikka and lamb tikka to go in the dish in the end to make it easier for them. Specifically said the person didn’t like plain chicken and was agreed yes that’s fine in the the end it could be done.Meal arrived and we were very disappointed. The mixed grill starters had no sauce with them at all... you normally get a mint sauce with something like this in every Indian restaurant I have ever been to before. It was so dry we couldn’t eat it as there was nothing to go with it. The dish that has specifically been asked to have chicken tikka and lamb in it had neither... it was plain chicken with no lamb at all... exactly what we had said we didn’t want. The chicken tikka masala tasted like Heinz tomato soup and again there was no chicken tikka in it... just what looked like frozen chicken pieces in it.The sag and the dal makhani were tasteless. The chicken tikka balti was the only dish that tasted ok and the nan breads were really good. This was one of the worst Indians we have had in a few years... I don’t know if it was because they were very busy so were taking shortcuts but if they carry on doing that then anyone who actually has decent taste is going to start to complain. We won’t be using them again and it ruined our meal which was for my daughters 21st.

Whatever I write will really not do this restaurant justice ! From the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left they couldn’t do enough for us!!The staff here are incredible and extremely helpful!! The food..... Just Wow! The best Indian I have had by far! Just the whole atmosphere here is amazing. Before we left we booked another table for the end of the month!! If you are in the area you definitely have to go! This is the best indian restaurant by far in Melton. We go regularly, although haven't been since lockdown. The staff and owners are very friendly. The food is always delicious and it's proper Indian food, not what you get in a typical balti. This week the fish we had was exceptional. We will be visiting again very soon, I am sure of that.

Came here this evening at 6pm for a birthday, ordered samosas to start which arrived cold in the middle and had to be sent back.... manager just raised his eyebrows. Bought out fresh ones, then waited until 7.15 for mains to arrive. Chicken in the curries was luke warm, manager came over and we told him, his reply " we have a big party in next door and as we had returned starters we now had to wait for our mains until they had got theres and he couldn't please everyone all of the time". NO EXCUSE, DO NOT TAKE BOOKINGS IF YOU CANNOT COPE!!! No apology, walking out another couple stopped us and said they were having the same terrible attitude/food by staff. Read good reviews about this place, absolute joke... if you want to spend your hard earned money go to the Spice Club!!

Drove all the way to Melton Mowbray from Leicester wanting to try this restaurants food, we heard good reviews from friends. The food was not disappointing, it was like having a curry in India as the taste was very unique to other places in the U.K. It is worth the drive to Melton in my opinion, I will be getting a takeaway for the family again and we will go for a meal there sooner or later. Very tasty food indeed, enjoyed by the whole family.

Just tried a takeaway from here. I’ve travelled the world, including India, without doubt this is the best Chicken Sagg I have ever had, I could not fault it. The garlic Naan was amazing, none of your rubbery stuff from here. Thank you, Thank You and Thank You again, you are my new favourite.

Visited here with family for the first time and we were not disappointed the food was amazing, good choice of drinks and excellent service. One of our party was gluten free which can sometimes find restaurants struggling to cope but they checked everything she had was gluten free and cooked her steak and chips which she enjoyed(doesn’t eat curry). Hidden gem definitely worth trying.

Due to the pandemic we had a delivery.When ordering, nothing was too much trouble as I hadn't ordered off the set menu.Delivered on time and lovely and hot. It has to be one of the best that I have tasted.I would definitely recommend and will be ordering again.

We’ve now ordered a curry twice since Soi have reopened just for takeaways, and all of us have agreed it was the best curry we’ve ever had! Fab that you can personalise your meal to the level of spice you want and it’s absolutely no trouble for the staff to do. The veg pilau rice is amazing, as are the naan breads. (The curries are amazing reheated the next day as well, I always save half to have for lunch the following day!) Really good that they can deliver almost everywhere around Melton, and it’s always within an hour even if it’s really busy. It’s 100% going to be our go-to takeaway at the weekend now, and our go-to restaurant when lockdown ends, definitely the best Indian in Melton! 10/10 for the service and the food :)

Four visits now to this fine dinning restaurant and wow have not been disappointed.This is a real step up from the competition with skilled chefs who really seem to know their stuff. Great food & great service. 20 of us went here and they were brilliant, staff were really helpful & patient as we all chatted away. I had the onion bhajis to start, chicken tikka masala & rice it was fabulous. Everything came out all together nobody was left waiting which was great with us being a large group. Nice choice of wine also. We will definitely be back.
