Soho Residence in City of London, Westminster

Formerly the Roundhouse which have frequented a bit over the years for postprandial drinks the place though refurbished actually seems not that much different but certainly worth a pit stop after a dinner in Soho.

A great little find! We are too old for clubbing but upstairs here was perfect with comfy sofas, great views & a chilled atmosphere. The bouncers were kind & helpful especially when faced with a very rude & aggressive young woman. Thanks for making us feel safe & welcome.

Absolutely appalled by this bar. I had booked a table for 15 people for my 30th birthday, we arrived at the time of our booking - 8pm and were told BY THE MANAGER that someone else had my table and that none of us were allowed in. This absolutely ruined my birthday and no reason was given to me why we were not allowed in and that my table had been given away. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

The worst service ever the Bar staff are SO RUDE and the Dj on the 03/02 was the most rude person I’ve ever met he’s disgusting, called me names. And threatened to kick me out for trying to speak to him. Do not come to unpleasant place and spend your money!!!!!! A waste of my money!!!

Really enjoyed this establishment last night it was a very lively lively place and very welcoming the bar staff where excellent just a thought fix the birra morretti draught tap that would help the crew alot..again thanks for a fantastic night

Decent enough bar and nice atmosphere but we had the private room upstairs and it was far too small (there were c.35 of us) and the bar stuff overwhelmed - it took ages for a drink

I have given this one star as the doorman who was on duty at around 16.00 on Friday 29th September is the most unwelcoming, rudest person I have ever been greeted by at an establishment! This is not good for this places business! We only stayed for a drink as we were exhausted after all the walking we’d been doing. The drink was had was made well & the barman was ok, but totally put off from ever coming to this place again!!

The two regular bouncers during the night shift are vile and they usually operate Thursdays and Fridays. They physically manhandled two of my female colleagues out of the club and then claimed they deserved. They then subsequently banned us from the venue. Unfortunately too inebriated off of their power juice and clearly wanted to flex it. A shame as it’s a lovely place let down by two individuals.

Felt annoyed I spent my hard earned money here. From the start the staff were rude, after not being served I went to the bar to order a bottle of champagne to celebrate and after 15 minutes I said to 1 of the 5 bar staff how much longer it would take and he said "can you see I am busy??" Some of the other bar staff were chatting by the computer screen, I returned to the table and got the attention of a waitress who took my order. The glasses had water marks on them and Champagne was not cold. Will not go again and do not recommend

Happy hour is good value, especially in this neighbourhood. However, table service is forced, so every happy hour purchase has a service surcharge. That wouldn’t be so bad if the service was more friendly, with less passive aggression, eye rolling and head shaking. Come for the happy hour prices but not looking for friendly service, even though you are paying for it.

This place is a gem! Great music and vibes, staff very friendly and security also very nice and accomodating

We were visiting Soho Residence for a 30th birthday, to add many of us came from out of London so were sober designated drivers! On arrival the door staff were pretty aggressive, one bouncer pulled a beanie hat off of one of our friends heads. I understand upmarket cocktail bars might opt for no hats but if you’re playing Black Eyed Peas and you have a pixelated print of a silhouetted rave plastered across your wall then you don’t really fit in this bracket of profiling dress code practice. Anyway, we all (now hat-less) settled in to our booked booth to celebrate. Sure the music was dire and it cost over £15 for two bottles of beer, but it’s Soho so not unexpected. What was unexpected was one particular bouncer who persisted on walking circles around our group. We were a group of about ten, half sitting half dancing, and the only standing people in the space, so this really wasn’t a necessary tactic to scare down our dance moves to Amy Winehouse and Duffy. So that’s the picture: five to ten people, half of whom are sober, singing along to “Mercy” whilst some aggressively poised dude walks in a circle around us and tells us off for putting our glasses on the wrong table. Awful. To top it all off, the most problematic of all, one of our friends (a queer woman with short hair) used the bathroom. On re-entering the room, this bouncer approached her and told her she had to leave because she had used the ladies bathroom. Once she made her gender clear to him he made a huff and walked off, no apology. We went upstairs to speak to the manager. Having all worked in hospitality ourselves we were fairly confident they’d be able to dissolve the situation and pave the way for a more inclusive environment. Wrong we were. He proceeded to ask us repeatedly why it wasn’t our friend talking for herself, to defend the aggressive bouncer although admitting he wasn’t surprised, and on discussing gender he abruptly decided the best tactic was to have a go at US for not asking him his pronouns, even though in our conversation with him we’d never gendered him?! There wasn’t even an apology. For soho, the “gay centre of london” it was pretty darn shocking and we’ve never felt less welcome or safe in a space. Thankfully it was us and not someone struggling more with their gender identity. Appalled.

Actually, mostly a fine place for a beer and excellent shared food platter, music might be less loud, but well located, service fine - BUT when paying I was required to answer if I wanted to add gratuity, with the waiter staring at me. In my (humble) opinion it is rude to ask for (or hint that you expect) gratuity. And it is ridiculously stupid / offensive to ask for it before the food has been served.

Racist venue who refused to let 3 brown people in as not on guest list but happily let the 3 Caucasian guys in behind us despite them also not being on the guest list. Told by management we don’t want ‘you type of people’ in the club. Bouncer and owner in picture

We stopped here just for a drink on our way through London the guy on the door was arrogant and down right rude when ordering at the bar the guy behind the bar was also rude and if my daughter had not bought her drink i would have 100% walked out would never recommend anyone to go here

Vibes were fun, security guards were great, drinks were tasty. As two, foreign, single women, my friend and I felt very comfortable and enjoyed our evening. Really great atmosphere! The three levels make it so that you can go to whatever level fits the experience you want. I definitely recommend Soho Residence!
