We were staying at the Premier Inn next door and going to Bridgwater Hall to a concert so this place is so handy Called for drinks and something to eat. The bar is run by Vocation Brewery and has an enormous selection of beers most vegan which was fantastic for us, as their beers are always good. Ordered food from Chaat cart which was awesome but the pizza from Noi Quattro was absolutely awful. Would definitely return but try a different vendor other than NQ. Lovely place lots of outdoor seating and a great use of the space.

The food was good, but the staff was extremely rude. In particular, the ginger bartender with a beard thought it was acceptable to take a half-finished pint from my friend simply because they didn’t have physical ID. How is it acceptable to take back a beer after it’s been served? He didn’t show any sign cooperation, only arrogance and rudeness.

Excellent choice of food outlets. All you have to do is pick a table, scan a qr code on the table, and pick a food outlet and order. They deliver the food while you're chatting away. Payment is made via your phone when you order. Its now my first choice when I go for a meal at dinner time or after work.

Interesting food court in centre of Manchester with beer supplied by Vocation. Food selection is reasonable and you order at the appropriate food outlet. Beer selection is massive - there are about 30 taps. There is plenty of plenty of indoor air conditioned seating and some outdoor ones too though the fountain on the canal can make it cooler. Venue is located down some steps near to GMEX which you need to factor in too depending on amount drunk. This was my first visit and I would seriously recommend it.

As George Costanza on said, "we live in a society!". And there are far worse societies to find yourself in than this one. If you're after a place with a fantastic bar full of loads of great drinks, alongside some great street food type options, then give society a visit. You won't regret it. For drinks, Vocation is the bar, and it has a lot of beers from Vocation (a brewery in nearby Hebden Bridge), as well as other brewers. In the two times I've visited, drinks have included - Standards like an IPA, Hazy, Mild, lager, etc. But also more out there drinks, such as - As pastel de nata stout; an iron bru flavoured sour; a Manchester Tart inspired zero alcohol drink. There's also a range of ciders, wines, fizz, cocktails etc, and a decent deal outside of Saturdays for cocktails too. Price wise, it's also very reasonably for the city centre - between £4.50-£6.50 per drink, depending on what you get. There's also a range of restaurants too. The choice when we were there was Korean, Japanese, Italian and a burger place. We tried a range of food from the Japanese place, Manzoku - a duck bao bun, beef teriyaki bao bun, tempura prawns and bang bang chicken wings - all for c. £30. Again, price wise and service, really good value. And you can order from your table via QR code for your table. It's also accessible via ramp etc for anyone who needs it, with disabled toilets too. All in all, would highly recommend!

Went on a Thursday night and as there was a group of us we had booked a table (highly recommended as tables went fast) has a main bar area but you can order via QR codes on tables. Lots of different food items by small specialist vendors. I had the meat feast pizza and chips from noi quattro, very nice and generously topped but a little soggy in the middle due to the amount of tomato base on it. Chips were a massive portion for £2 and were shared by the table. Drinks were good, a mixture of soft drinks, non alcoholic and alcoholic offerings, served in glasses/bottles and cans. Lots of offerings on tap. We found drinks to suit everyone and food to suit all of our groups tastes. It did get very busy, very quickly after 5pm and on leaving at 7pm it was packed with no seats available.

The concept of this multi-food and drink behemoth in South Manchester is brilliant.... on paper... In reality, it's chaotic, noisy and shamelessly brash and after a somewhat disappointing visit, we were both glad to hit the chilly Manchester air and find a quiet pub. Bear in mind this was a Thursday evening at 6pm, the place was heaving with folk of all ages, some drinking, some eating, some both but ALL trying to shout above the ridiculously loud DJ set being piped out across the venue. Maybe it was all linked to having the 6 Music Festival on just down the road? We were sat on the mezzanine above the main floor where the speakers were right in our firing line. I'd suggest turning them off to create a chill-out zone and a place to enjoy the food. The food options looked great - we chose Cart Chaat who managed to mishear the order taken, overcharged and then refunded the difference after a bit of a faff. The food was just OK - bhajis greasy, salad lacking imagination. Huge portions though. I'd give them another try, maybe. The beers covered all bases (mostly Vocation Brewery) and were decent enough but we agreed that we would have tried more if only we could hear each other. I couldn't hear the guys behind the bar either. One chap seemed to be on a cocktail production line all evening so I wonder if beers are the main pull (sorry) here. Loos were clean enough. Location's good, near the old GMex and tram stop
Paul Pledger . 2024-03-12

I had the Korean chicken and sticky rice which was nice but the bhajis from Chaat were expensive and too overcooked to the point of being burnt (should have took them back) and the lamb curry wasn't nice at all, it was dry and had an overpowering flavour to it. The pizza and garlic bread was nice my daughter said but no milkshake available which is always a disappointment. Would we go back again? Probably if we fancied a pizza or the Korean food but not for the loud music and indian fayre.

Great place for varied food options - really varied! And about a million different beers (I may be exaggerating but they're not my bag so I don't pay a huge amount of attention!) The cocktail bar, however, has a small but perfectly formed menu to choose from. Informative staff who are willing and able to guide through the menu and customers' preferences. And 2 for 1 offers - can't beat that! Everything is orderable (!) via the QR codes on each table which makes it really easy to order whatever you want, whenever you want. Also great when you're with others as everyone can order their own thing(s) without any awkwardness over who ordered/pays for what... I've only been there when it has been chilly out so not sat outside - there are seats and tables - but it's a lovely location, down the steps by Bridgewater Hall, right next to the water and fountain. The fairy lights make it look appealing at night, whatever the weather. I'd recommend the vegan calzoncello from Noi Quattro. Delicious! And I've had most of the cocktails now and they're all great.

Great location for pre-concert meal if you’re going to Bridgewater Hall, and that was how we ended up at Society on a Sunday evening. Only had a shandy from the bar, and chicken kati roti and puri chaat from Chaat Cart… The shandy was as expected and service at the bar was efficient. The food order was slightly odd. It took a very long time for my food to arrive. During that time, my friend had managed to order a pizza, get the pizza and eat the pizza. When food finally arrived, it was tasty enough, but the puri chaat had been sitting for so long, it was disintegrating in its own sauce!! Overall, average place… nothing to write home about. Whenever I work in this area, I always go to Waterside Cafe on Redhill St Manchester 4. Appropriately named, this delightful, clean, welcoming cafe sits by the canal. Inside it is very clean with an extensive light meal/snack menu. There are deep settees to relax in or chairs and tables. People sit with their newspapers or laptops. The owners are so helpful, friendly and accommodating. My favourite thing is the goat's cheese panini which is really good quality. Go there, it's a lovely place.
