Society in Manchester

My friends and I visited this place on a peak summer sunshine Thursday early evening. We found a table right away despite it being busy (as expected) whilst people were taking advantage of the outdoor seating area. The food arrived quickly and was delicious! It has a great atmosphere, friendly and upbeat. Great background music too. Well worth a visit.

Ate here with some work colleagues while we were in town. Society is a mini food hall with 4 different options (and more coming I think) I had eaten at a pub in Leeds where Slap & Pickle did the food, so was excited to share it with my colleagues. Ordering is easy. Pick a table, scan the barcode and order everything from your phone. The food didn't take too long to arrive. Nice clean toilets. Three of us had beef burgers and one had chicken. The beef burgers were good, but not as good as the one I had in Leeds (just not as juicy or satisfying). I got bacon in my burger but it was really fatty so I made a mess trying to remove the pieces of bacon to get rid of all the fat. Fries were good though! My colleague who had the chicken burger said it was nothing special. Will probably come back to Society (the pizzas we saw looked amazing!) but not sure I would get a burger here again.

Overall very good experience. The range of beers was massive, and our Korean fried chicken was top notch. Can't comment on other food options. Friday eve, expected to be busy and just about found 2 seats but it was packed. Would return!

A lovely place to head to for a few beers, food was 50/50 (Might've been just a once off as it was quite busy). Definitely a place to stop by to enjoy a beer outside!

Good range of food options for our group.

Pizzas were really undercooked and the staff really didn't seem bothered when we ordered - not very friendly. £14 for an uncooked pizza is a great way to ruin a sat night out!

Good choice of food. Big portions. Service is great and super quick. Atmosphere was great, a bit loud as it's a big place but bearable. Mainly chairs, benches and bar stools but 2 sofas at end of room.

Amazing food and beer! Portions were great and the meals we got were flavouful. Service was fast. If I was living in Manchester I would eat there weekly, especially when the sun is out!

We came at peak time on a Saturday and we're lucky to find some spare seats - it seems to be popular so bear that in mind. You can see why though, a variety of tempting food outlets and a massive bar with an array of craft beers available on cask and keg. Mainly from Vocation with a decent number of guests too. We ordered through the website and it worked really well. Both food and beer came promptly and delivered to the table. You can choose to approach the bar or food outlets in person if you so wish. I look forward to coming back it was really good. Food and beer top quality.

I stayed right at the hotel across the street and ended up coming back three times to eat because there is so much choice, the prices are right, and the staff is lovely. Very good atmosphere.

A brilliant selection of pop ups in a clean, industrial looking dining area. There are toilets and a bar. I've never seen it too busy so getting seating has never been a problem.

Never been treated so appallingly! We were refused service for being too drunk. When we asked to speak to a manager they acknowledged that we were in fact not to drunk at all, but they said that they couldn't reverse the decision that the staff member had made and we had to leave anyway. I have never known anything so ridiculous in my life. The staff stared us out as we were leaving. Absolutely shocking! The managers name was Daniel. I am editing this review as a reply to your response. We were told by the manager, Daniel that he did not agree with the assessment made by the staff member that we were intoxicated. He said he could not reverse her decision even though he disagreed with her and could see that we were sat quietly enjoying ourselves. That is my issue with how we were treated.

Out in Manchester just wandering around getting beers & seeing the sights. Found Society on the web & it looked Good It was food was tasty & the craft beers were crisp. Had Korean & Japaneses food

Me & my friends have gone to experience the restaurants, the decoration, the atmosphere and the musics are great 🤩. We ordered from Noi Quattro & Burger restaurant. The pizza is soooooo good worth every pence 🍕😋. I wasn’t satisfied with the burger, especially it was completely burned out from the sides 🍔!!!

Visited Society last Friday before going to a gig. I have to say I was blown away. Great atmosphere with an endless choice of beers etc and good food choices. Can't quite remember what me and my brother had but it was very very nice. I'm from Hull so nightlife Is pretty crap so to come here was a truly fantastic experience. World's apart from what I'm used to. Friendly staff and the atmosphere was so chilled out with so many people talking to each other rather then been on their phoned all the time which is the norm these days ha! Just all in all a very positive experience and I can't wait to visit again when I'm next in Manchester. The next time I come I plan to tey a few more of the endless amount of beers, ales etc that are on offer.

FEB 25 My friend & I were doing a food tour of Manchester and so just shared a portion of Duck Bao from Manzoku. Thankfully for me, the cucumber came as a big, easy-to-remove slice 😹 * I came here for my friend’s birthday: he’d invited a lot of people and so the Mackie Mayor-style eating and seating was ideal. I got some gyoza from Manzoku followed by a luscious slice of vegan chocolate orange cake from Slap and Pickle. When ordering via the app, a mandatory tip is added- I’m not a fan of this.

Food market in the heart of Manchester. Inside there are numerous seats, from which you can conveniently order via QR code. We tried the margherita pizza from "Noi Quattro", but there were alternatives from various cuisines, from the classic hamburger to Japanese, Indian and Korean dishes. Very nice and lively atmosphere.

Great small food hall. Has 5 or so food vendors. Pizza, burgers, Asian are the main ones. Good for a group of people. You can order food from your table.

Pasta wasn’t good, sauce was too runny and all it tasted was tangy. The frankie at chaat kart wasn’t good at all, nothing like one would expect for a frankie. Chickpeas were slightly undercooked, flavors were all over the place. The only good this was the bread! Vocation is really nice! Ambience is good during gamedays.

Great food court, lots of choice

Lots of food and drink choice. Bench seating, order from QRcodes, you can go and have a look. Lots on tap. Clean facilities. Friendly staff.

I visited during the Xmas period with a large group. The food burgers and fries were awesome alongside the fresh tasting beer were excellent!! Staff very friendly and service really quick. Very cool bar and will defo be back

Rubbish. Refused to serve due to business. Food vendors should know that Sunday lunch is busy and cater staff accordingly.

Great place, went for a works Christmas lunch. Great variety of kitchens to give guests more options. I had a baconator at Slap and Pickle. Excellent burger and very friendly staff.

Good place, good atmosphere but eating at the Chaat Cart ruined our experience. The food is either not good or they serve it to you treacherously (an ultra-spicy mess that comes with the main dish, they don't tell you how spicy it is and the main dish is like you won't eat it anymore because it doesn't taste like anything) . Very bad Chaat Cart and very bad Yoki Korean Food with such bad food.

No fish and cgips but diffrent kind of streetfood specials.

Had a great time while we were there. food great, service fantastic. the only thing that was a problem was the high stools to sit on. they are quite small and very slippery was basically impossible to stay on the stool because of small seats.

Never been before, amazing quality food and good portion sizes. Only wish that they would do a tasting tray with a smaller portion with most popular dishes

I am waiting for my burger more than 30 mins now and it is 9pm already. Place is not crowded at all. For starving I believe it is the best place in Manchester.

Absolutely my favourite spots I discovered recently. U got everything at one place and u can order anything or even mix it around and still enjoy it at the same table with friends and family.

Modern warehouse type bar. A few takeaway food type offerings available. Not the most comfortable bench seats.

We were staying at the Premier Inn next door and going to Bridgwater Hall to a concert so this place is so handy Called for drinks and something to eat. The bar is run by Vocation Brewery and has an enormous selection of beers most vegan which was fantastic for us, as their beers are always good. Ordered food from Chaat cart which was awesome but the pizza from Noi Quattro was absolutely awful. Would definitely return but try a different vendor other than NQ. Lovely place lots of outdoor seating and a great use of the space.

Arrived just after 10.30pm on a Friday and was told I couldn't have a coffee because the coffee machine had been cleaned! Why? Not impressed, don't expect to see me again.

The food was good, but the staff was extremely rude. In particular, the ginger bartender with a beard thought it was acceptable to take a half-finished pint from my friend simply because they didn’t have physical ID. How is it acceptable to take back a beer after it’s been served? He didn’t show any sign cooperation, only arrogance and rudeness.

Great food vendors. Not overly expensive so great to try a few dishes from different vendors.

Top place for some food and drink

First time at Society Manchester, great location and atmosphere. Ate at Chaat Cart, the food was amazing, but the staff were even better, looked after my wife and myself brilliantly, made the experience extra special. Our thanks to the ladies who looked after a pair of old duffers lol x

Excellent choice of food outlets. All you have to do is pick a table, scan a qr code on the table, and pick a food outlet and order. They deliver the food while you're chatting away. Payment is made via your phone when you order. Its now my first choice when I go for a meal at dinner time or after work.

Popped in for the food court. Everyone gets to eat what they want, so good for the larger crowds. Food was very good. Atmosphere is vibrant, touch too loud indoors.

Brilliant concept great choice and variety of cuisines and amazing atmosphere. All in all a great place and can’t wait to come back and try the different cuisines, hard to find though if walking the canal route, easier to find if you look for MEN arena as directly opposite

Interesting food court in centre of Manchester with beer supplied by Vocation. Food selection is reasonable and you order at the appropriate food outlet. Beer selection is massive - there are about 30 taps. There is plenty of plenty of indoor air conditioned seating and some outdoor ones too though the fountain on the canal can make it cooler. Venue is located down some steps near to GMEX which you need to factor in too depending on amount drunk. This was my first visit and I would seriously recommend it.

Good concept, very hot inside (aircon may not be switched on or non existent?). Ran into a couple of staff who evidently didn’t enjoy their roles. I get it, it’s Friday, everyone is having fun and it’s summer but please, allow someone with a zest for hospitality and customer centric service take your place

Over prices Instagram photo taking place. Payed 15 pound for a burger I would've done better in the oven, a pint of 4% lager is almost 6 quid aswell it's ridiculous

As George Costanza on said, "we live in a society!". And there are far worse societies to find yourself in than this one. If you're after a place with a fantastic bar full of loads of great drinks, alongside some great street food type options, then give society a visit. You won't regret it. For drinks, Vocation is the bar, and it has a lot of beers from Vocation (a brewery in nearby Hebden Bridge), as well as other brewers. In the two times I've visited, drinks have included - Standards like an IPA, Hazy, Mild, lager, etc. But also more out there drinks, such as - As pastel de nata stout; an iron bru flavoured sour; a Manchester Tart inspired zero alcohol drink. There's also a range of ciders, wines, fizz, cocktails etc, and a decent deal outside of Saturdays for cocktails too. Price wise, it's also very reasonably for the city centre - between £4.50-£6.50 per drink, depending on what you get. There's also a range of restaurants too. The choice when we were there was Korean, Japanese, Italian and a burger place. We tried a range of food from the Japanese place, Manzoku - a duck bao bun, beef teriyaki bao bun, tempura prawns and bang bang chicken wings - all for c. £30. Again, price wise and service, really good value. And you can order from your table via QR code for your table. It's also accessible via ramp etc for anyone who needs it, with disabled toilets too. All in all, would highly recommend!

Great venue with good food and drink. If one minor complaint it would be the music played was a bit repetitive and seemed the same beats

Can be a little difficult to find a table.at the weekend, but that speaks to how good it is. Huge variety of beer (smaller cask selection than keg, but it allows them to be fresh) and great choice of food from a number of different restaurants.

The food is mediocre but it’s nice vibes for casual drinks. They have good variety of alcoholic beverages

Went with my girlfriend, was one of the only busy places we could find despite being tucked away, nice outdoor and indoor seating everyone absorbed in their own conversations. Large variety of food, came within 5 minutes of ordering, would definitely go again! Music was a bit loud inside hence why we sat outside but the view of the water was worth it!

Beer choice is unbelievable! Food options are plentiful. As we're our portions. Nice atmosphere, get there early although bookings are available. Gem of a place.

QR ordering method was convenient A variety of beers too I was especially satisfied with Love & Hate (New England IPA). Looking around, K Chicken seems to be very popular. I ordered a wood-fired pizza, it came out quickly and was delicious.

Absolutely disrespectful, we booked a table to watch Spain play and they would not switch the music off. We asked politely and they just ignored us.

Good was great, lots of choice, staff there were really good - really accommodating, moving around a large group to fit people in. The place suffers for me because the music was so deafening that you can only speak to people within a meter, so you eat quickly and move on to somewhere more social.

Stunning Indian street food! (also came with a plate of chips) - so delicious, with a really innovative concoction of flavours.

Always packed when I've been. Choice of food, great beers and other drink options. Not a place to spend hours but a great place to catch up with friends for an hour or so. Nice seating outside as well. Not a place I'd take the kids. More a place to have a drink with your mates

Lovely spot in Manchester for food, drink, good music and atmosphere. We had the beef Ragu pasta and it was delicious. A great selection of drinks at the bar and the raspberry cider was good. On a sunny evening I would recommend sitting outside soaking up the chilled vibe. Will definitely be back.

Absolutely love this place. It's like a little oasis in our busy city. Great food and drink options. A must before any event at the neighbouring Bridgewater Hall.

High school musical bottomless brunch was absolutely amazing the hosts Leah Jamie and Caitlin were so good they made the night getting so involved and making it so fun 10/10 would recommend and will 100% be back for many more themed brunches 💗✨

I went here with a group of friends it's perfect for people who prefer different types of food. It is easy to order using your phone from the table. I'm a vegetarian so I got a vegan crispy tofu roll which was very good. The only negative is it can get pretty loud for someone who is sensitive to noisy environments.

We waited 25 minutes for them to serve us 1 mini hamburger and some fries. I don't recommend it if you are in a hurry.

Really really good food great seating lovely staff all round. But sadly I can't give 5 stars I have allergies so ordering in the restaurant is perfectly fine the staff are very accommodating but there are no phone numbers listed for this place anywhere so if you have allergies and want to order on deliveroo or Uber eats ect you just can't :(

A bit lousy, full of people, hard to have a conversation. The service wasn't great.

Great place for a pit stop between bars. Went as a group of 12 and we all had different food from each of the vendors. And everyone commented on how delicious the food was. I had the a burger and loaded fries from the pickle and burger place. Loved it.

A quiet mid afternoon pint, just the place

Cracking vocation brewery taproom with loads on tap and some guest craft beers. Staff very friendly. I didn't have food but at 1pm linch time the place was packed with people eating and drinking ( a thursday ) plenty of tables and chairs and a nice area at the front with a nice view.

Such a relaxed venue, plenty of variety of food vendors. A really lovely place and the food and drinks were spot on! Really laid back atmosphere. Regularly go here and always have a great time. Food is always spot on, great selection of drinks too
