Sobremesa in Birmingham

Called in to this super little bar this afternoon. Excellent, friendly service and I thoroughly enjoyed a gorgeous coffee served to perfection. I highly recommend this establishment. Thanks to Jason from the antiques emporium across the street (a place I also recommend highly...full of interesting curios, antiques, retro collectables and quirky home furnishings) for the recommendation. I will visit again.

Great spot, they serve Pieminister pies and do a crisps, pie and pint deal which is very good. Very friendly staff, good beers.

BA-HA lives there now and Frankie is, as usual, wonderful. If you are in Digbeth, pop there for nice plant-based food! **update BA-HA not there anymore but the place looks nice still**

Looking for somewhere local to Gibb Street for a pre dinner drink we stumbled across Sobremesa ( and the courtyard, in general). What an amazing place. Friendly, comfortable, homely almost. Staff attentive, professional, and the list of cocktails perfect. Book a table and don't be left outside, this really is worth a visit.

Over price £9.00 for coffee and a pint also the room was cold sorry won't be popping back only decoration was good ☕🥃😬

Wandered past on a Sunday afternoon and popped in for a pint with the kid. Was a nice place for a quick drink and the staff (owners I'm guessing?) we're lovely with the nipper which was nice. Will be back of an evening for a few pints/cocktails one day soon.

Came here just for a quick bite to eat, very neat menu, great staff who are very friendly and have great recommendations The general atmosphere is great too

Eek. I came here because I’ve had some decent experiences with the owner in their retail store in the same center. That being said, owning an inconsistent, at best, overpriced housewares shop, does not qualify you to run a food/drink establishment. Hard as I tried to love it, the edgy-ish decor just couldn’t deter from the realities of this food/drink establishment. Bad service, bad energy, food was awful, took forever to get a drink, or food, bartender had zero idea how to mix a cocktail. Had to eat on cheap disposable bamboo plates with terrible disposable wooden “silverware”. I still shutter at the feeling of that untreated wooden fork thing in my mouth. Needless to say, I won’t be returning. Sorry guys. Oh and if you ever decide to adhere to posted business hours for your retail, let us know, because that stuff is great, I’m happy to return.

Amazing venue!! Good drinks. BUT THE FOOD IS EXCEPTIONAL. We spoke to Frankie, the runner of BaHa (the food) and she is so passionate about her customers l. Definitely recommend this place to vegans and everyone else!

The food was amazing- by far the best vegan food I have had in a long time (beef nobo, Patatas bravas, and Kentucky maple wings) and the staff were lovely. Frankie the manager checked in on us regularly and despite it being really busy (bank holiday weekend) did the best she could to seat and attend to everyone. Hannah our waiter was lovely and the gentleman who sorted our bill was also very helpful. If back in Birmingham would definitely go again! Thank you Frankie and team xx

What a circus of an operation being run here 🤡 Unfortunately we shall never be using Baha or Sombremesa ever again again . We have been visiting baha since their first kitchen collaboration 3 years ago, Have visited them at other restaurants in Birmingham and have always recommended and ‘shouted’ about how great they WERE. I really try to support small business but ususally because they are genuine people who want to have happy customers who get value. Well unfortunately this isn’t to be found here. Paid £20 to secure a table ( couple on the same unsocially distanced table had the same) via an app when booking through the website. So that £20 was to sit in the cold with a random couple to eat. So with food ,we paid £65 for a couple burgers in the cold. Feels very much like a quick scam to profit from ‘unprecedented times’ which in my opinion is disgusting as a business. Complete disrespect to the customer. It would be ok if everyone there was in the same boat but we had a table next to us who hadn't booked, they had their own table, distanced properly, another 3 guys were on another table again no booking but again on their own distanced table. So if you book you pay extra and get put on a table with a random couple who are almost on your lap, you may as well be involved in their conversation its so close. I did bring this to the attention of what i guess must have the manager, but it does it was fancy dress day. Its funny that the manager of such a mickey mouse operation, should coincidentally be wearing a mickey mouse jumper 😂 ( I’m not even joking, this is real) Just scandalous , the worst service and set up i have experienced from a restaurant in the world. The sad part is the food is incredible, but the service doesn’t match. I wont ever be visiting or recommending anymore. Great example of how not to run a food chain !
