Amazing restaurant. Food - phenomenal, best I've ever had since being in real life Thailand. Service - on point. The lady who seems like she runs the place was extremely friendly and welcoming. We had soup, veggies, fish curry, beef pad and coconut rice and two cocktails and crackers and dip- £53. Can't wait to go again. We have no idea what the other reviews less than 5stars are talking about. This place is authentic. From flavour to staff. 10/10. A must try.

Food was fast and delicious but it opened an hour later than it said on Google. When we got in the food was delicious but the bill was a bit strange - lots of tax money added on which wasn't specified in menu. Still a good place. Would recommend.

Our go to restaurant in Leek. Lost count of the number of times we have discussed with friends where to eat and ended up at Thai Siam. Excellent welcoming friendly staff serving tasty food that always hits the spot. Excellent value as well. Thanks Thai Siam

The woman who runs this restaurant is so lovely. We really liked that she brought complementary prawn crackers, a nice touch .we had the mixed starter for two which was nice, the Massaman curry was okay but the beef was tough . The pad Thai was decent but tasted a little different to what I am used to. So two starters and two mains plus three drinks £58. Not bad at all

The freshest mouthwatering food and service, as always, was second to none. We have been coming to the restaurant for the last thirteen years and we can honestly say that it's our favourite. Never again, from the dead flies on the windowsill to the woman serving a woman who came in after us first so we left ,went down the entry at the back to cut through and the chef was sat on the floor smoking like I said never again

This Thai is the best I've been to anywhere in the uk, I've not yet been able to try every meal on the menu but ive done over half of it and its truly beautiful. Fresh ingredients, pure thai cuisine with authentic flavour and doesn't make you feel grotty after eating it. Would recommend to my closest friends, staff are brilliant and if i could recommend any dish it would be the thai green curry

Food was decent but their advertised prices don’t include 20% vat nor their special tax of 12.5%. Underhand, and this was a takeaway so not a service charge. When challenged they said it was a tax! Be more transparent. So your £10 main meal is more like £13. Our £40 takeaway now nearly 60! Won’t be going again

We really enjoyed our meal. There is plenty of choice and dishes marked spicy are authentically hot and flavourful too. We chose the mixed starter, tom yum soup, a red curry and a rice noodle dish for mains. Nice atmosphere, quite busy on a Sunday evening. Would come back to try some other more unusual offerings.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meals here. We toyed with 3 starters (couldn’t decide in two) but glad we didn’t as the mains were just the right portion size The food was really tasty and the service was top-notch. The prices were surprisingly reasonable too We would definitely eat here again

One of the best Thai meals we’ve ever had! Delicious fresh food packed with flavour. Would give 5 stars had it not been for the slow service towards the end of the meal and delays in paying however the restaurant was very busy!

I ordered a Panang Tiger Shrimp curry. The shrimp were nice and large, cooked brilliantly in their shells, ample Panang sauce, the rice was lovely and not clumpy at all and I could smell the jasmine too. I've lived in Thailand for 17yrs and my late wife was a chef over there, so I know good Thai food, I also have the Larb Moo from here and it's good, not quite Issan style, but still lovely and I actually like leaving it in the fridge over night to marinade and get spicier. Only downside (and that's my fault) my gorgeous Panang Goong/ Kung wasn't spicy enough, but was so flavourful. Visited with friends. Great service and brilliant food. The sizzling beef (weeping tiger) was out of this world, one of the nicest things I’ve ever eaten.

My family really enjoyed the dinner we had thai Siam everything was perfectly cooked and presented beautifully. The staff were very attentive and looked after us very well. If you are in leek you must try it.

Booked a table for five. A nice warm welcome when we we arrived. Sunday night it was quiet, the service was great and the food was outstanding. We've had a couple of takeaways recently and they were superb. Couldn't find fault with anything.

Terrible. Had a takeaway. Far more expensive than the last time we ordered from them. Ridiculously small servings of sauce with our starters - satay chicken came with a plastic pot with maybe a teaspoon of satay sauce. Not even enough for one skewer let alone four. It’s ok though - the chicken was so salty and poor quality that we only ate one of the skewers. Other starters were just poor quality and similar low amount of sauce/dip. Main courses were ok, a bit lukewarm but would have been tasty if hot. Just 30% more expensive than it should be - would have been fine if delicious but not worth it as it was. We won’t be ordering or going to the restaurant again.

Went for my grandsons birthday. Only 3 of us. It was chilly in there all night. Starters came which was not very exciting. Mixed platter. We then waited about 40 minutes before the main arrived..poor service. One poor waitress run off her feet. People next to us waited for ever for their starter to arrive. Mains tasted bland and pork was tough and it certainly wasn't fresh. Tasted like pre frozen cardboard. Very very disappointed in our experience. Won't be going again . 100 quid down the drain . Would give our experience 3/10. Really need to up their game.

We ordered a takeaway to be delivered to our holiday cottage in a village on outskirts of Leek. The meal was delivered promptly and on time. The food was delicious and hot on arrival. We would highly recommend this takeaway

This is the best Thai restaurant I've ever been to. We had the set menu for two and so glad we did because the flavours in every dish were unbelievable. The staff were also lovely.

I've eaten meals in some great Thai restaurants across the UK, but this one tops the lot. My daughter and I stayed for 3 nights (Mon-Weds) in Leek to explore the Peak District. The week before I attempted to book tables for the evenings with little success (mainly due to 'Eat out to Help out'). Email communication from So Thai was great (explained that they did not take part in the scheme), undeterred I booked and am so glad we did. Regardless of the 'scheme' the restaurant was full- a testament to their popularity on a Wednesday evening). Service was great and food sublime (flavours, spices and heat (if you requested it)).

Leek has so wonderful restaurants and So Thai is most definitely one of them. Visited for the first times in ages on Saturday. Great service, delicious food and a Lovely atmosphere! Highly Recommend

We had a look in leek for a chinese meal and having searched google we found So Thai. The trip advisor reviews were mostly good recently so we opted for this. A lovely restaurant feeling to it very comfortable clean and tidy with appropriate decor. We met Hannah (mentioned in other reviews and she was amazed and very happy to have received praise in that review) wasn’t wrong she was lovely and attentive and helped us choose some amazing food. Honestly it was all so fresh and the flavours jumped out. I think in nearly fifty years this was the most amazing Thai I think I have ever had. The chef was amazing. Now I’m not rich but we took home our left overs (Great lunch the next day) and I left £20 tip which I have never done before! Can not recommend highly enough just wish I lived local

We’ve recently moved to leek and wanted to try a Thai! We checked the reviews which all were pretty good! Best decision we made! The food was delicious! I’ve never had a tastier Chicken Thai Green Curry! When I placed the order I was worried about the spiciness, however the lady said I could choose the level of spiciness so I opted for a mild! My partner had a beef stir fry, the beef was a little chewy but it still tasted super! The spring rolls were insane and we got 2 bags of prawn crackers (my favourite)! Will honestly be going back again and again!

I just dropped in as I was passing - surprised to find it open for takeaway. They did me a really brilliant Pad Thai and rice while i waited (not a long wait), and gave me complimentary prawn crackers too. Great food, very tasty and great value. Gets a 100% score

My husband and l had a set meal for 2 our friends ordered off the main menu. Hannah ensured that all our food was gluten free it was all delicious and Hannah was a wonderful waitress. Excellent food, service and environment. Fabulous thanks you made our retirement meal a very memorable evening.

Being coming here for several years and always enjoyed the food but wow has the service dropped off staff just walk around no friendly service. 40 mins for starter and over an hour for the main . Had to find someone to get another drink and the place was quite. Please sort the staff problem.

The restaurant is in the centre of Leek and we were greated by staff at the door, we were seated quickly and drinks soon arrived. Food service not the fastest but was very nice when it did arrive. Price was reasonable.

Food is absolutely terrific...We visited as a group of work friends for our Christmas meal.We had a mixture of rice and noodle sides all of which were perfect.I had a beef stir fry dish which was lovely, beef very tender and pink. But the star of the show was the sizzling Duck, which was to die for .How people can give So Thia bad reviews is beyond me. The staff are so friendly, and couldn't do enough for us.Please understand this is a family run business not a faceless chain restaurant if this is what you want go to wagamams.Fantastic Food.

The meal we had was a weeping tiger and a chicken massaman, with a coconut rice to share. I have eaten here countless times over the years and have never been disappointed. There is a great relaxed atmosphere here where you don't feel rushed to eat your meal and leave. I would recommend the chicken massaman if you want a great first impression. Also make sure to bring cash with you as the card machine can be temperamental. I look forward to my next visit.

Wife and I ate here early on a Saturday evening so it was still quiet. Food was pleasant although they forgot to put the chicken in my wife’s dish. Customer service really is awful as no one ever checks if everything is ok so we had to flag a member of staff to get the dish sorted. Waiter came back with chicken added to dish in its original serving dish but no plate so wife had to eat from serving dish as once again no one came to check if everything was ok. Came to pay the bill and get told it’s cash only. The young lad who was supposed to be our waiter should have pointed this out right at the start. This should be told to the customers when they arrive. We were told there was an ATM machine a few doors down. There was another gentleman by this point at the bar who kept saying it was his first night, hmmm! To sum it up the food is good but the customer service is really lacking.

This is my go to place for a guaranteed great meal in Leek. Once again the food was superb. Their green Thai curry, coconut rice and veg pad thai are beautiful. Tasted everything my friends had and all agreed it was great. Although the restaurant was really busy, the service was superb. Nothing was too much trouble and all the food and drinks arrived in good time. Will be back with the family for my birthday in a few weeks.

A lovely meal out with friends & the food was fantastic! The restaurant wasn't very busy but we had quite a wait for the starters after ordering. Mains were also slow. Hot plates were brought out in anticipation of the main, but were cold by the time all of our dishes were served. At the end of our meal they turned the lights off - a polite request to leave or bringing the bill over would have been far better customer service! They don't take card payments or have any after dinner mints (a minor issue but after a lovely meal, the end of our evening was spoiled).

Booked a reservation for 8pm & we were still awaiting the main at 9.20 pm. Customer service is poor. Unfortunately we could see other tables had been served before us that had arrived later but we didn’t get any apology. When we questioned where the order was we had questions about our order, I think we had been missed. We walked out having paid just for our starters and drink.

Lovely Saturday evening meal for 4 with starters & a round of drinks for £75.00. The mixed starter is always good value & I particularly enjoyed the Steak sizzler which I had not tried before. Our friends opted for the Vegetarian set menu. The service was very good & the waitress had an excellent sense of humour which we appreciated.

A super Thai restaurant with excellent food ... watch out as the chillies can surprise but they will always tone the heat down for you ...wonderful starters, tasty mains from the curries to the fish ... go on and enjoy and the take outs are just as good

We went to this restaurant over 4 years ago when we were staying in Leek. We were staying in Leek again this weekend and decided to eat at So Thai. The food was just as good as we remember. This time we took 2 friends who live in the area who also enjoyed their meal. The restaurant was very busy (Friday evening) so we would advise you to book. We had the set menu for 4 and there was more than enough food for everyone. Although they were busy with a large party the service was first class. Hopefully we will be back before another 4 years have passed.

Have been here several times with my daughter and the food is the best Thai I have ever had. My daughter is Vegan and they cater for this on most of the Vegetarian dishes. Staff are always helpful, very polite and it seems nothing is too much for them.

Walked in So Thai for the first time on Saturday to be greeted by young lady who greeted us with... 'Name'. After giving our name the young girl had misheard and said 'What'?. Not a very polite greeting to start off with. I was taken to the table while my husband went next door to get cash (no card facilities in restaurant) with the understanding that 'I'll send 'him' around to you....

Great, good value, ok staff, good pad Thai, only draw back we had to pay by cash. Always busy though, we have been twice and would go again.

Wandering around the small town of Leek we came across “So Thai”. The decor is nice and typical for a small Thai restaurant but we were blown away with the quality of the food: authentic flavours, good portions and a rich menu to enjoy. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was great. We highly recommend this.

Great little restaurant with fantastic food, called on spec and got a table no problem, staff were helpful and portions generous, for tow we had a starter each, min each and shared a side dish, could have shared the main to be honest. Only down is its cash only although a bank is next door.

The pork laab starter was lovely and had a good spicy kick. However the mixed starter for 1 was disappointing. The chicken satay was nice but the fish cake, chicken ball and prawn on toast all had the same spongy texture and tasted much the same too.

Me and the partner ate here this evening, nothing to fault. This is the first thai we have had in a long time and we definitely won’t be leaving it long again. The customer service was perfect, very friendly staff. The food is mouthwatering, I had the Thai green curry and it was more than good. For the starter we had prawn toast, absolutely delicious mmmm.

We visited here several years ago, and were not impressed, so decided to give it another try and we're glad we did! Mid week dinner, so only the small room was open, we both ordered a curry, Red and Massaman. Both curries were absolutely delicious, I could have eaten another, the balance of spice was perfect. The service was sufficient for the amount of people there, looks like it's a family run restaurant. We can't wait to return!

The purpose of my review is not to discredit the food which I have to say was absolutely gorgeous and could not be faulted in any way whatsoever.

After ringing to see where the food was 1h20mins after ordering, I was told that the owner of the restaurant tried to deliver the food but could not find the address. (No attempt to contact myself was made on their part).

Visited for the first time tonight while staying in Leek for the night. Having been to Thailand and eaten in a number of Thai restaurants here in the UK, we were really impressed by this place.

Im fortunate enough to have eaten at some great venues throughout the world so to find this sort of quality in a small market town in the Staffordshire Moorlands was a hek of a surprise! The food is simply excellent. We visited mid week and were surprised how busy they were and I was a little concerned that we may struggle with the service, given some of the reviews we had read. We were a little late so maybe that helped them, but the service we received was polite, courteous, informative, helpful and timely. The food came out out in a timely manner and although one dish was a little late, it was followed with an apology. This is NOT a five star hotel restaurant, its a small town eatery so dont expect the frills of a five star. However, neither is the price at a five star level! Its extremely well priced, especially given the quality of the food and ingredients and this really is close to five star, certainly a LOT better than some of the expensive restaurants I have dined at over the years in terms of food.

Our friend who lives locally recommended we eat at this restaurant. There was plenty of choice for our diners' tastes. Our orders were taken quite promptly but then we had to wait quite some time for our food to arrive. In our view, it was worth the wait. The good was well cooked and full of flavour. Recommended, particularly if you are not in a rush.

Date night disaster!!! What can I say?? Unbelievable non existant customer service,or should I say any service!! Arrived for our 8:30 reservation, shown to our table with menus, and that's where the service stopped!! After 10 mins my husband went to the bar to get a drink, there was no sign of our waiter returning, the restaurant was completely full but no one had any food, this started alarm bells ringing, we had only seen 2 members of staff since we arrived. At 10 past 9 the table next to us finally got their food (they informed us they had been in since 7:30!!) At 9:20 after not been approached by anyone for either a drink or food order we left as the chance of getting anything was looking highly unlikely. Other diners still waiting made comments about the terrible service and were getting very restless, a room full of hungry customers and the staff couldn't even bother to offer an apology or explanation for the wait, or in our case even acknowledge we were there after initially seating us! We went to pay for our drinks and tbese hadn't even been put onto our table bill!Eventually the drinks were offered complimentary but this doesn't make up for zero service and zero customer care. The explanation was ' Oh, we are very busy' . Busy doing WHAT exactly because no one was being served any food!! Do not take reservations if you cannot deliver! This wasn't our first visit but it will definately be the last. Poor,poor service. I only gave a score of one because there is no zero option, Zero service only deserves zero marks.

We often choose So Thai in leek as it always offers good food and service. However on this particular occasion the food was fantastic as always but the service was extremely poor which ruined the evening. Hopefully they will address this issue.

So Thai is getting popular again now that it has a good manageres. happy staff, good food and a card reader that after 3 score and ten is still not connected so its cash only as there is two banks next door so no problem. The take a ways are the same as the restaurant meals and worth every pound.

Really lovely food with great service. Despite coming on a Monday night, the restaurant soon filled up- showing it is a popular haunt for the locals.

The food was great and the restaurant was busy even though it was early on a weeknight which is always a good sign! We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. Panang curry was delicious. lovely presentation and a nice friendly atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only complaint is that drinks were horrendously priced. I was charged 7.00 for 2 pints of lime and soda which is normally about 1.00 a pint. When I queried this they knocked 1.00 off but this was still way too much.

The restaurant feels fresh and clean and the decor is lovely. The food was absolutely delicious and despite a busy restaurant, we didn’t have to wait long. Very reasonably priced and I would recommend dining here. If I was going to be fussy, it would have been nice to have been asked if we wanted anymore drinks and a dessert menu would have gone down well, but it was a busy night so still 5 stars from me.

Menu was just the right size. We opted for the sizzling dishes (one steak and one duck). Generous portion size and the meat was so tender. Prices are reasonable too. A must if you head to Leek.
