Would put 1/2 star if I could. Don’t bother visiting the wheel. Staff were extremely rude. We booked a table that could accommodate a pram as we had a newborn baby. We parked on the lower car park, when we walked around the sign to advertise the food was put in the middle of the footpath, prams or wheelchairs could not get past. If I had been waking with the pram alone I would not have been able to get past, as it is up bank and the pram could have rolled into the road. I am disgusted that the venue did not think about others accessibility needs when putting the sign out. We arrived inside, table was not set for the pram, so we removed a chair and placed it on the table next to us where there was space. The barman then shouted across that we could not put the pram in place of the chair as it was “health and safety” which we understood but then explained that we had requested to be put on a table where a pram would fit. The barman told us “you will have to take the pram out and hold the baby”. We found this extremely rude and the whole party left the venue. Safe to say we will not be returning back in future.

Hostile. We were visiting a few years ago, and dropped by the pub. It was like something out of a movie - we walked in to a hostile atmosphere (you could feel the "they're not from here" vibes), we smiled and asked to order a drink. The old man behind the bar - "no", then stared us out of the place. It was an odd experience! Perhaps if you're local/English, you'd have a warmer welcome.

Varied menu reasonably priced. Very good service order from the bar delivered to your table. Very friendly staff. Good parking.

Four of us travelled up to visit Proctor's Nursery which is just down the road and initially wanted a coffee after over an hours drive up from our homes. The pub had just opened for lunch and the menu looked interesting on what was a cold day so we decided to eat here. What a great choice! All meals home cooked and really tasty. Real value for money and pleasant surroundings. The chap behind the bar who served us was really helpful and looked after us without being intrusive. There was certainly nothing left of the three steak pies and scampi that we had. Really enjoyable, tea and coffee good as well. Will seriously look to visit here again on our next visit to Proctor's. Big thank you to the cook and the man in the bar.

Jeff and his team are amazing! I’ve seen some bad reviews about Jeff being ‘rude’ and personally, found him to be very polite and very friendly which saddened me to hear about his retirement next year. My family and myself have been going here for years and he’s always been very lovely and accommodating. Everything they make is homemade and the cheese cake is to die for! The waitress with dark hair (unsure of her name) is such a lovely person and goes out of her way to check everyone is happy. She offers to take pictures of families when they’re struggling to take pictures of everyone, she carries such a lovely and bright aura about her. These people work tireless everyday and go out of their way to make everyone happy. 10/10 across the boards ❤️

Great to find a traditional British pub so close to home.Lovely friendly atmosphere, along with very friendly staff. The highlight undoubtedly is the food, home made and delicious and at prices I could hardly believe, I had the steak pie, wonderful and for less than £9. Highly Recommend

Cheap drink and pudding, unfortunately a bit quiet.

Good food, good atmosphere. I do like the older country pubs with proper home cooked food. The only thing I'd mark them down for is the upstairs may need a bit of hazing up as its outdated and old. Other than that, go grab yourself a home cooked Sunday roast. Osssshhhhhhhh

Proper English pub food and traditional ales, couldn't recommend the steak pie and chips enough, staff are welcoming aswell.

Didn't eat as most tables reserved for parties and staff very, very busy. Beer good, service excellent and atmosphere pleasant enough. Will return during quieter time and sample the food which looked lovely.

Third visit to the Wheel, the scampi is absolutely lovely as is the real fire. If you want a Christmas meal you need to order in advance

Terrible experience. The food was mediocre, the lamb shank had barely any meat on and the service from basil fawlty was dire to say the least.

Cannot fault this little gem, the food was fantastic and the staff were second to none, also we had coffee which was piping hot(not luke warm like some places who sell it).

I came here with a friend for lunch The guy that runs this establishment is very rude and bad customer service . Soon as meals arrived, on the table , the owner of pub turned up the radio station very loud and it made a headache alot worse . Asked politely several times if he could turn it down and he refused .

Lovely homecooked food and great choice of drinks. Country pub atmosphere and a little beer garden/play area for children where we spent a happy hour in the sunshine after our meal. We visited as a party of 6 (2 children aged 9 and 7) and there were clear plates all around. It doesn't matter what you choose off the menu, you won't be disappointed. Delicious malteser cheesecake!!

Nice pub with friendly landlord

Really welcoming and warm atmosphere however the food we had was unfortunately not good , no flavour at all and boiled this included the salmon and the curry no seasoning at all . The chips were lovely though. There were loads of regulars in so think the items we had maybe should be taken off the menu and concentrate on those dishes people keep coming back for .

Visited this place last sunday for lunch. It was served in time and the food was hot. The service was good. The meal was average. Not worth travelling for.

Nice traditional Pub with a friendly atmosphere. Good home cooking at value for money prices. The Steak Pie and Chips is a very popular choice. Highly recommended.

Traditional small pub selling good value food and drink. The mixed grill in particular is huge with proper old school chips like you'd have had growing up before everything became oven chips. Very nice and easy to recommend.

Pie was great, however the bloke behind the bar was an ignorant git and extremely rude. I don’t know why people go into a service industry if they have no people skills. Avoid this place at all costs

Never a warm welcome from the first visit!!!!!!! We returned the 2nd time because the food is delicious, We have only been here on 3 occasions and would never return!!!!!!! On the Third visits my daughter got upset when she caught her head on the back of the seat and cried (she is 17 months old) and the owner told my Mrs to take her (our daughter) outside if “she” Is going to ‘kick off’ Wow our daughter is 17 months old!!! Not even a dog should be Treated like this never mind a child!!!!! Avoid everyone with Children or ‘pets as I would not like animals to be treated the way we were never mind children’!!!!!!!

Great home cooked proper food, not pretentious or unnecessarily fancy. Always eat here when I visit Leek, never had a bad experience, usually quite busy so make sure you book ahead. Don't expect poncy fancy rubbish, this is real British pub food like we used to eat before pubs started serving poncy tapas and quinoa.

I didn't even get chance to order any drinks as we were met with hostility and told to leave because I had a bottle of water on the table. Such backward attitude especially when it loses custom like that.

Very hostile and unfriendly. 'Greeted' by an incredibly grumpy publican who told us to take our bottle of water outside before we could even opened our mouths to order a drink. Welcome to Stoke eh! Absolutely bizarre. Avoid!

Big thanks to Jeff and the team for fitting myself and the wife in for a lovely Sunday lunch. I would certainly recommend, hot and the service was brilliant. Ample carparking and a great atmosphere, we call again and book up. Excellent value for money

Beautiful home made food and one of the finest pints of Bass or Pedigree in the area. All at a very competitive price . A homely and pleasant environment, with a lovely welcoming fire . Just how a good pub used to feel like , twenty or thirty years ago.

My boyfriend and I had the home made steak pie today and it was absolutely delicious. Service was impeccable and very friendly. A lovely fire burning on this chilly day. We'll definitely be going back.

A lovely and very friendly place. We booked a table to celebrate mum's 90th birthday. The landlady put a birthday balloon out and banners which was such a lovely gesture that made mum smile. The meal was really nice, everyone enjoyed it and the empty plates proved that!! We would definitely go back go back again

A great place to enjoy a drink or meal. A wonderful country pub for the whole family. There is a car park, children's play area and the option to sit indoors or outside. The staff are polite and very helpful.

Nice, cozy pub with great friendly staff with an open fire and nice chilled classic music played, the beer 'bass bitter I had' was absolutely delicious as well as the food and all at a very reasonable price too. One of the nicest pubs I've ever been in so I would definitely recommend this place. You won't be disappointed.

Very fast service. I had steak pie which must have been microwaved as it was out in less than 4 minutes. Still tasted good so for less than £8 it was great for a lunch which we needed to be very quick. Couldn't give more than 3 stars though as they only had one ale and the food quality was below average.
