I hosted my 30th Birthday party here last weekend. It was perfect and I'm so glad I found this venue! Thank you for an unforgettable occasion. The upstairs room was the ideal intimate space for 40-50 people, and I was grateful to decorate with bunting and flowers and photos. The pre-ordered food was generous and delicious. Note the prawn toast was a particular crowd pleaser ! Pavel and team worked hard all night, and the cocktails were delicious. It was fun to choose which I wanted available ! Thanks so much to all the team.

We had my husbands 40th here on the first floor event space and we had a fantastic time. Alex was super helpful from initial enquiry till the end of the night. Highly recommend the space if you are looking for a place to host a function!

It's a real gem, that offers a taste of home with its delicious drinks that remind me of Poland. Atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff are always attentive, making sure you have a great experience. A perfect spot for a relaxing evening.

The best Espresso Martinis we've ever had!

This bar has the most amazing polish bartender I have ever had the pleasure of getting served by. Great place to get a drink, or a tiramisu shot if that’s what tickles your fancy!

Awesome old bar, great drinks, great atmosphere.

The staff should be done with admin once it is opening time! We had to get up and ask for drinks from the bartender several times as he was on his laptop our ENTIRE visit! What is this? A WFH office or a bar? Beware of non attentive bar staff. Do not bring a +1 if you wish to impress.

We love this place, its hidden away in Brewers Lane which is like an old fashioned alleyway straight out of the 1900's. The bar has a very intimate feel and yet the music is diverse and brilliant at the same time. We were greeted and served by Pawel whom was excellent, especially when he introduced us to a Polish shot.. the service was friendly and it really does want to make you go back for more.. we were pleasantly surprised that we didn't know about this bar before but we are so glad that we've discovered it now.

We came as a large group on a Saturday night and had a perfect experience. The staff were welcoming, friendly and couldn't be more helpful - despite the fact that I had confused the timings and turned up 40 minutes late. The staff were also really great finding a space for our booking despite the fact they already had a large group using the space upstairs. Would strongly recommend!

We hosted a party in the private room here and the staff were exceptional from start to finish. Everything was really clear when we visited and booked, excellent communication, they accommodated our requests and provided exceptional service before and throughout the night, like ensuring all our guests had Prosecco when they arrived. It's so disappointing... I went there with my friends for a drink after we had a dinner somewhere else. We ordered 3 drinks, one non-alcoholic. We were charged £40. The prices in drinks menu were different so we were charged 5 pounds extra plus we paid another 4.50 service charge, actually almost £10 for just so. Weird.

Visited our favourite cocktail bar in Richmond this week . Delighted that we can still enjoy classic cocktails during Happy Hour . Tom the barman was charming and helpful …. And made The Best margaritas ever …he even shared the proportions that he uses . Thanks So Bar … you never disappoint 👍

Bryan the bar manager was absolutely lovely and offered us several recommendations which were exactly to our taste!!! The barman Daniel made such good drinks, we loved every single one. This is our second time here, our first time was our first date then we came back for our 6 months and we just love it. Even when there’s not loads of people it’s such a wonderful place to visit if you’re looking for a good drink 🥰

Tom made sure we had a fantastic experience. I will definitely be back, service was prompt and the atmosphere fantastic for a Saturday night.

Hired the private room upstair for a party, great space for a group of 40+ people. The Tapas food we ordered was amazing and a hit with our guests. The Atmosphere and being able to play your own music really enhanced thew space. The minimum spend was easily met and would definitely recommended this space to others. The management team where amazing and so helpful a-crossed the board. Thanks again for all your help Tom, Pavel and Bryan.

Came in for an afternoon drink and the service and drinks were all beautiful. Our server who's name has escaped me was incredible so friendly! Jamaican John was by far my favourite!

Always have a good evening at So Bar. Small enough to feel relaxed and friendly, with personality. A world away from all the chains. Bar staff are always great, and the cocktails are excellent.

So bar hosted my auntys suprise birthday party in the private function room located at the top of the bar , access to the toilets on the same level and our own private bar and barman ….. well i can’t thank tom , jorge and our barman enough they took such great care of us and had all requests covered regarding food , drinks , cake storage the lot ! they even cleaned up after us all ! the drinks were flowing and the food was delicious i can’t thank so bar enough for such a fantastic evening! i would 100 per cent recommend so bar for a private party and all round great night to remember thanks again all the best Lucy

If you're in the mood for a cocktail and some tapas this place is the ticket. The staff are very friendly and serve some excellent drinks. Happy hour makes this place great value.

We held a private function here in the private hire bar upstairs & everything, absolutely everything, was perfect. The setting, staff & service (shout out to Tom, Bryan & Pavel), food & drinks & minimum spend were all so great. Tom was so accommodating, answering all of our questions, tailoring a cocktail menu to our requirements & providing the most delicious food. We had the best night in this cosy, atmospheric bar and will absolutely be back again. We are so glad we chose this venue. Thank you so much guys - looking forward to drinks downstairs again soon.

Excellent vibe, great service. Our server Tom was absolute class. Recommended the Mandarin Sour and myself, my wife, and my friend kept drinking that all night. Also got introduced to the Shankys Whip. Easily my new favourite drink. We're local and hoping to keep coming back.

We hired the upstairs room for and engagement party. From the get go we had so much support re menu, drinks, number of people , music from Tom and Pavlo. The evening went so well, tapas was wonderful and the support we received was fantastic. The bar downstairs was just as fabulous . Highly recommend this venues and staff Thank you

Very nice relaxing and comfortable ambience within the venue, music isn't too loud, the dimmed lights and comfy sofas set the mood nicely, definitely a nice date spot! Happy hour cocktails were great value 2 for £16, tasted good, service was attentive and friendly throughout, thanks for being a good host :) Didn't get to try the food but I'm guessing it will be decent!

Terrible service - went in and thought no one was serving. Turns out they were just squatting behind the bar on their phones. Had to remind them, 15 mins in, to take our drinks order. All in Adidas track suits, not work attire. All round, disappointing, purely due to staff and their attitude and care. Shame.

Bar tender (Charlotte) and the Manager (sorry didn’t get his name!) were amazing. Highly recommend. Amazing cocktails. Always a place we go back to whenever in Richmond.

Please clarify if you close at 11:30 . You're one of the best places around and if your times are closer you could have more customers rushing in. Great owners and bar staff and I love atmosphere! Just be clear about closing times if it's not busy . 11 30 seems okay??? Right

Delicious cocktails, great atmosphere and really nice staff, helpful and welcoming. Waiter with the ponytail tonight (didnt get your name sorry!) was so sweet, was having a horrible day so enjoyed my evening. Reasonable prices too. Defo recommend

Very bad music disturbing and not appropriate for the venue. I would play more jazzy or soul not tasteless rock and commercial radio songs . Cocktails are good and staff is friendly.

Lovely little spot with great staff. Went for cocktails with friends and while it was a wee bit busy, the guys behind the bar (Tom and I think Charlotte), were very fun and friendly so made up for it overall. Would recommend!

Having been a customer for 10 years this place has absolutely declined in the last year. 45 min wait for 2 cocktails by bar staff who had no idea how to make it and had to phone manager for direction. Decided to try it once more recently: new manager was very full of himself and argued as to why the cocktail was not correct. He admitted he didn’t even know the ingredients. You’ve lost decade long customers.

We went to the bar last night on a pub crawl and this stood out as the best! Especially the lads and lasses working, Tom, Charlotte, Louise and Bryan made the experimental. Super friendly and helpful, great espresso martinis, can only recommend!

Went here for a couple of drinks for my girlfriends birthday as we had heard great things, unfortunately wasn’t the best experience. The bouncer and the long haired server were excellent, however we heard constant bickering from the bar staff and rather annoying renditions of ‘red red wine’ from the blue haired bar tender. After 10 minutes we decided we had heard enough and decided to give up as the atmosphere wasn’t to our liking. Wont be returning.

Discovered a hidden gem in Richmond, walked in on a bustling Friday without a reservation, and experienced exceptional service. Despite the busyness, they promptly seated us, and the welcoming staff enhanced the overall atmosphere. The cocktails were beautifully crafted and tasted great. Though it’s a small bar, the coziness adds to its charm. A must-visit if you find yourself strolling through the streets of Richmond.

An atmospheric cosy place tucked behind Richmond's high street (George Street), with loungy music, delicious tapas and cool service (Sisi and others made us feel very welcomed!). The warm lighting and music were something me and my friend really enjoyed while chatting our evening away. One tip: you might want to consider some acoustic panels as there is a bit of a noise echo from different directions but all is great overall! We will be back.

Huge thanks to Bartosz, Pawel and the team at So Bar for making my birthday such a special time. We did the cocktail masterclass with Bartosz who was SO knowledgeable and passionate about his craft, we learnt a lot and had so much fun making and trying lots of different cocktails. I highly recommend this experience if you’re celebrating something or even if you want something to do with your friends that’s a bit diff from the norm. It’s also exceptional value for money. The only challenge is that, now knowing what quality cocktails are *supposed* to taste like, is going to make it really hard to go anywhere else!! I cannot recommend this bar highly enough!! Masters at their craft, affordable and such a great atmosphere. We will be back!

I came here late Friday night absolutely loved it here!! Bar staff and floor staff were amazing. I met a lovely girl named Charlotte behind the bar she was very polite and made the atmosphere much nicer. We will definitely be returning!! Big thank you to all the staff for making our night so enjoyable!! Great drinks and prices too but unfortunately didn’t get to taste any of the food.

Popped in accidentally to this place for a drink and some food on our way for a dinner and it is an absolute gem! Great vibe with nice music playing in the background, amazing drinks and the food... maybe classic spanish tapas you can get in most places, but connected with all the rest it definitely work all together very well! We will be coming back there again for sure!

Came here on Saturday night, 25th August. So much potential, but not good. Such a let down. Repeatedly told in a slightly patronising way "it's a table service bar" when we had to go to the bar more than once, despite literally waving staff down trying to get their attention, after civilised attempts were blanked/went unnoticed. Drinks were decent but nothing special. Ordered the olives and chorizo. Chorizo came in small fat little sausages, but so dry and no flavour, it was like trying to eat a flipflop. Olives are okay but very rich for a bar snack. Having been blanked, at one point I went up to the tall, white, young, barman in the waistcoat for a glass of water. It was a completely polite request. Said water never showed up. I don't get how it works if the staff aren't even looking at you or checking in, how the hell it's table service. Feel pissed at paying the service charge but having asked for it once and the waitress then disappearing to serve another table, and asking for it again, we just wanted to get the hell out. The only plus was the wonderful doorman. *Edit to add that the wait staff with the afro hair and smiley face was also brilliant. On point every time and super friendly. Shame everything else was a shambles.

This is the first time I have been stopped by a door man for over 25 years.The bar was clearly empty but he asked me and my wife if we had reservation.We said no so he told us to ask at the bar if it was ok to serve us.The bar service was good and polite but I noticed that the doorman only stopped older people when they tried to enter the bar.I believe that the bar has an AGEIST policy and believe that it would be helpful if they had signage stating."No under 18 year olds or over 50's"

The cocktails are banging. Wasn’t to sure which one to have but the amazing bar tender Josh advised me to try an expresso martini. Well he wasn’t wrong. I will be coming back to try more

The place is nice and the cocktails are tasty, but the music is a bit too loud, making it difficult to talk. I also had to wait a long time for a waiter to come collect the payment. Overall, I had a mixed experience at this restaurant. The drinks and service were good, but the music was too loud and the wait time for payment was long.

Booked at 17.45, had to walk out as 18.25 we still didn't have our drinks. Not even tap water was given which we ordered and its really hot outside. Aircon wasn't working. Waitress wasn't bothered that we walked out

White bait was incredibly salty Paella for 22£ was sized for one person, the rice was mushy and also very salty. The service was very attentive and it's a nice place for drinks however the food is not what they say it is.

We came to So Bar for a cocktail masterclass for my friend's hen party, and it made her day! Michael was incredible - his expertise and knowledge, matched by the energy and fun he bought to the party made it an experience to remember! Couldn't recommend highly enough. We had our own space upstairs where we could have our own music and dance the afternoon away.

Michael, Yanko and Shauna were absolutely amazing and made us feel at home during our visit. The new cocktail menu is delicious. Highly recommend

Very nice little cocktail bar tucked away just off the green / high street- haven't been for probably over 10 years. Decent atmosphere, and excellent cocktails made with care. The two chaps running the bar (Michael and Josh) were on top form with this and a real asset to the place! Will be back for sure. Cheers!

Sobar is an excellent experience, especially when the highly skilled and uber knowledgeable Michael is behind the bar. That man is an artist. Each cocktail made with huge amounts of passion! Definitely the best cocktail bar in the area.

What an amazing experience at this bar! The vibes, the drink and the decor was divine. The service provided by Josh and Michael was outstanding. So welcoming and friendly. Went for a drink and catch up with an old friend. Had never been before but had heard good things and not only did they not disappoint but they excelled! We had Josh running the floor - not a single unhappy face in the building(!) - who certainly knew what he was doing and made sure we felt 100% welcomed and comfortable. Michael was our bartender and damn can the man make a great drink! We had to try a fair few of their cocktails and each one we tried only made us want to come back again and again! Michael even asked us about our own preferences when drinking therefore custom making us a couple of drinks. All I can say is it certainly speaks to his skill to make beautifully balenced drinks on the fly! It was great to see both Josh and Michael working in sync and there's obviously a great deal of trust and friendship between them rather than just being mere collegues. Both of them made us feel completely comfortable and happy to be there for a fair few hours! Certainly going to be raving to everyone who will listen and returning as soon as possible! A great night only made better by the two of them!
