The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal or a casual drink with friends and family. The food was absolutely delicious, with a great selection of dishes that were well-prepared and full of flavor. The service was excellent—quick, efficient, and friendly. The staff were polite and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Overall, a fantastic place to visit.

Excellent stay at the Smugglers Inn for two nights. Food was good and beer range excellent. Lovely place to stay and the whole team there are so nice and friendly. Room comfy and well appointed. Wow. This dining experience is a must. Excellent location, excellent service, and honestly this is the best food we have eaten in the UK so far. The steak pie & cheese burger were unreal. And if you don’t try the sticky toffee you’ll regret it! I’m known to be a harsh marker at times….. but this place is GREAT.

Visited just after Christmas, after previously staying overnight in 2023 and visiting a few times last year. Our experience this time round, was absolutely night and day compared to our previous visits. The pub was busy, but the service was terrible. Other tables were having to get up to find some of the waiting staff, we were lucky that the only time we wanted to order the waitress walked straight past. When the food arrived, it was thrown on the table and the waiter couldn’t get away quick enough despite asking him for extra sauce. The food itself was also so much worse than it has been previously and was incredibly expensive for what you got. My wife ordered the fish and chips at £18, and I ordered the beef shin at £19. The beef shin was supposed to come with mushrooms which weren’t on the plate, and when I asked the waitress she just said “yeah we’ve run out”. The dish also looked like something from a school canteen. Both dishes arrived at our table about 7 minutes after we ordered, so neither were cooked to order. It’s a real shame as it’s a beautiful pub and used to be absolutely amazing. There are much better pubs for food in the area that serve better dishes at a much more reasonable cost.

Frosty reception on a winter's day. We called in for a drink after a winter walk. It was around 3.30pm so there weren't many people dining and there were plenty of spare tables inside. However, the member of staff insisted that we should sit outside. The beer was good and it's a lovely location, but I think they could have let us sit inside.

We’ve just returned from a wonderful two-night stay at The Smugglers Inn. On arrival, Lloyd greeted us and made us feel welcome instantly - before any money had even exchanged hands he made sure we were ‘fed and watered’ after our long drive. Nothing was too much effort for any of the staff…. Special mentions to Rafaela our waitress,Ella, and the bar-staff who really looked after us. The Sunday lunch was fantastic, great menu in general and a great breakfast spread! The room was spotless, cozy and well-equipped. It was my partners birthday and they went out of their way to make it special for him. We would definitely recommend staying here and we have already talked about returning one day. A well portioned lunch from a wide variety menu. My food tasted great and I'd return in the future. Excellent service in a picturesque setting. An open fire and comfortable seating. Good size restaurant and plenty of outdoor seating for the warmer sunny days. No free parking and pay and display car park is tiny. The pub is set in a steep sided valley and though ramped, less abler persons should show caution. Worth a visit in my opinion.

Came here for a late lunch with my wife and parents. Booked in advance although it was very quiet and probably not necessary. The table was pointed out to us when we arrived and told someone would be over soon. It would have been nice to be shown to the table and a drinks order taken. Waited a long time (a good 25 mins) and eventually had to go to the bar to ask if someone could come over and take our order. I wouldn't mind but we seemed to be the only customers in the pub and A LOT of staff milling around chatting. I don't really understand how they can have a table of people with no drinks or food, holding menus, awkwardly looking around to catch someone's eye and not click on. The waitress was friendly and apologized for the wait and said no one had told her we were waiting. The main course was nice with a reasonable choice of dishes. On the expensive side though. Dessert seemed massively over priced for what we got (£8.50 for a small Eaton mess) nothing special. The pub itself is amazing, very traditional and incredible location. Very underwhelmed by the service and food considering the price. I can't say I'd recommend it frankly. Seems a bit disorganized even when very quiet.

Fantastic views from the car park, caution if you have a low car as some of the car park is very un even. We had the burgers, and they were good but not amazing. We also had to ask for our drinks again after our food was served and we hadn't had them. It's a beautiful looking pub, and the beer garden looks really nice, but we came away feeling slightly underwhelmed. We wouldn't rush back and probably wouldn't recommend it as it's on the higher pub grub price scale.

Really enjoyable Sunday dinner. We booked a table for six on the Saturday, but when we arrived they could not find the booking however they instantly fitted us in despite it being a very busy service! All the six meals arrived piping hot and all at the same time. My wife had an issue with a couple of hairs on her plate and this was addressed super quickly with a replacement served up instantly. When requesting the bill our waitress informed us they would not be charging for the replacement meal, which we were more than happy to pay as the overall meals were super. Top dining, great service and overall a lovely venue. Our granddaughter lives in nearby Weymouth so we will definitely be returning for more. Many thanks.😉

Great location with very good service, friendly and helpful and can be busy in the summer months. Good gravel car park with awesome views and a public toilet block too. Access to pub is via many steps down or by a concrete ramp steep in places but sound under foot. Food was OK but not blown away with the mushroom ciabatta which was more onion relish than mushroom nor fish finger sandwich that was just that with no frills. For the price I expected more. Ale was lovely but Coca-Cola well overpriced. Amazing location and would love to stay one night to sample more of the menu. Walks around here are for the able bodied but with stunning views.

10% "optional" service charge practice is weird considering that you ask people to order at the bar and it is not a group. Please consider increasing already expensive prices by it or ask every customer at the bar whether they are fine to include it. The information about it is a small print on the menu so put it on the top and with a bigger font so people really have a choice. For me it was around 20gbp for a very average burger (I had better meat quality elsewhere) without any salad, and around 6 pounds for a pint of ale. Also you're asked to collect your cutlery yourself. So nothing backs up the service charge. Not a nice practice in this overall beautiful place.

The food is pricey but the quality of this food is nowhere near. It is a disgrace. We ordered one of the priciest things on the menu, pork belly, 22 something quid, we got a tiny piece of pork with three old unfortunate carrots, some small unappetising potatoes and a pile of green beans on the side. It looked like nothing. Are they running cookery courses or something? Another dish was a cheese platter to share, we had six pieces of stale cheese, old grapes and some cookies, some were broken. 14 quid, horrendous. One piece of cheese looked bitten,so I didn't eat it. We couldn't just walk out because they made us pay before the food was served. It's not the price that matters but the quality. There was none.

So be aware the prices are very, very small print. And they streamed music into the garden, totally ruining the atmosphere as we thought a nice lunch next to the river by the beach would be lovely but it wasn't we could've got the same food and terrible music for half the price anywhere else, and there was no way to get to the beach there either so that was the afternoon plan finished. If you can't climb a flight of stairs then I wouldn't go, the sloped access is as steep as a staircase, I saw healthy young men struggling to push a buggy back up it. I'm surprised how blasé some of the reviews are; it's been ages since I've been in a pub this nice and it's off the chart compared with what you get on most high streets (not sure what sort of pub utopia you're living in!) but I guess the pub is quite obvious and well-known to locals. Pre 2020 this pub would have got 5 stars It's a shame that they have decided to go for card only payment for this reason alone I will not return or support buissness that do not alow you the freedom to pay in the form that you choose .wake up

Delightful pub in a magnificent location. Moved away from Weymouth many years ago but was trying to think of somewhere new to take family for a meal on a recent return visit. Kicking myself for not thinking of The Smugglers Inn for previous visits to my old home town. Great food, excellent service and beautiful views. Will definitely be back next time I'm down that way.

An absolute treat if you are parents looking for a relaxing break with little ones in tow. So much to do for the kids - we are still in awe of the huge games room (perfect to keep them happy in the cold weather!), as well as skittles alley (low tech bowling), movie nights with popcorn, pool, oh yes and FREE CHILDCARE! For the grown ups, the hotel itself is beautiful with lots of space to unwind, there are lovely walks from the hotel (if you can be bothered to leave), even spa treatments (Katie gave a fabulous massage). We were all so sad to leave!

Pros: good chips Cons: got overcharged because the staff must've realised we weren't locals....

I’ve been staying with friends in Sherborne, and tonight we fancied fish & chips. As this establishment took card payments I decided to order from them. Rang to check & got superb phone service from a team member, who took my order & collection time. As I ordered three cod, I was asked if I’d consider haddock. A brilliant bit of selling, so I changed my for to a haddock and didn’t regret it one bit. Upon arrival, it was continued great service & excellent customer interaction with us & existing customers. It’s so rare to find such great customer service, especially coming from London, where it can be very hit & miss. Our food was superb, freshly prepared & looked great too. Portion size was brilliant (a large chips feeds three! Well it did for us). I also ordered two pickled eggs, a wally & two sides of mushy peas (which I don’t normally eat, but tried it & was dry pleasantly surprised). The chips were not soggy in any way, & the batter on the fish was outstanding. Light & absolutely perfect; the best I’ve ever had! I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone, on so many counts, not least on service, food quality, freshness & price! When I’m back in Sherborne, I’ll be returning without question & will tell everyone about how good this place is! Many congratulations to the entire team, seen & unseen!
