service and staff attitude is poor at best. not a smile, not a welcoming word, not a thank you, not even looking at you in the eye. Coffee is expensive (£2.5 for an espresso) but tastes good space is small and noisy, but clean.

Dropped in for coffee and cakes of a Saturday afternoon. Sat outside in the sun and ordered at the counter inside. Lovely service and very good coffee and cakes. Also ordered Cheese and Ham toast which was also very good.

He estado en S'mug algunas veces ahora.

Popped in for a quick lunch. Got a bagel with hummus and veg. Took around 15 minutes to make it to my table (infact the 2 people with me who were having meat fillings got theirs first despite ordering after me) and the waitress brought out my vegan bagel with egg mayo slaw on the side of the plate after saying “vegan hummus and veg bagel?” So totally clueless there. Asked her to remove it which she took it back and took the side of crisps off when I asked if they were vegan she said yes and went and got them again. I was there with 2 friends who had meat, fish and cheese fillings in their bagels and we were all charged the same price for the bagels which is ridiculous as some hummus and veg doesn’t cost the same as cream cheese and salmon or pork slices and cheese. So very over priced if you’re vegan, you also don’t get the two sides (slaw and crisps) with it either with no discount. I wouldn’t bother going again staff don’t seem to understand what that vegan means and the company charges a flat rate instead of by content price.

There's a lot of coffee shops in the Byres road area. S'mug is my favourite. Great coffee, pleasant staff. Excellent wifi and what an 80s soundtrack they play! Just a very warm, vibrant atmosphere.

Favorite place by the people working in the close university for a good reason: good coffee and selection of tea and infusions, tasty cakes and bagels.

They have a special for £2 takeway drinks for those who show a student ID. They're always friendly and nice, and have a frequent visitor punch card scheme, so you can earn a free coffee every once in a while. They're white hot chocolate is heavenly! Their food is delicious but vastly overpriced. But the drinks aren't too bad, and I love that they have a large selection of non-caffeinated hot drinks, as well as plenty of different types of coffee and tea! I'd definitely recommend it!

Staff have nothing better to do than chastise me for eating outside food (eating a bit of cake given to me) even though I've ordered coffee & am a regular customer who always buys food & drink. Also not allowed to have a take away coffee inside, even though a guy sitting next to me is doing exactly that. I'm a paying customer & don't have to put up with this crap in other local coffee shops. I wont be going back, ever.

Popped in for a snack before going to the cinema, great staff and quick cheap eats. A little bit cramped for me and I'm afraid the cheese and tomato toastie was a bit disappointing as the cheese did not have any taste. Would go back though as staff and coffee excellent.

Yet another lovely interdependent coffee house just located off Byres Road (a stones throw from Hillhead underground station. Really good selection of coffee and tea to select from, and a great selection of food to choose (if going for a breakfast/brunch their bagels with cream cheese are brilliant). Staff are really friendly and will help you with your order no problem.

Had the Lentil Soup which was good to warm me up on another rainy day. The cafe did not have a lot of people in it but it looked like you could come in for a coffee and spend the day on your PC or Tablet without getting disturbed. There was a good choice of bagels but not a good choice of scones or cakes. The staff were efficient and friendly. They also have tables outside where you could sit when the sun shines. Maybe I picked the wrong day. At least you do not get hurried out the door as soon as you have finished your food which often happens on Byres Rd cafes.

Was visiting a construction site across the road and spotted this wee gem on the corner. Good coffee and very friendly reception, the cheesecake blueberry muffin was delicious too, especially as I had been up since 0500. Certainly would go back.

Lovely place. Only had a cup of tea, but it was lovely. Fancied a bagel, but the sight of streaky bacon consisting of mostly fat with very little meat, and not crispy, was very off-putting. Nice choice of bagels, paninis and toasties.

This cafe is very cozy and lovely. It's nice to sit here not only for a five minutes. Maybe music could be a little quiter. What I liked the most, is that they give huge mugs of Americano.

I'm studying abroad in Glasgow this semester and S'mug is just down the road from me. I absolutely love it there and often go to study. The coffee is great and served in generous portions, and all of the food/sweets I've had have also been wonderful. The staff is caring and I always feel welcome. The service is excellent and quick. The one time they forgot to bring out my drink, they gave me a large + a card for a free drink next time. Comfortable seating and fast wifi. Could not recommend higher.

Try to avoid the main coffee shops but my main complaint about individual places is the portions are tiny in comparison - not here!! Had a lovely (decent sized!) cappuccino here last week - not a lot of seating but didn't feel crowded. Think we need to go back and try the cakes next time!!

I pass by S'Mug almost daily on my way to work, and one thing that I love about it is their coffee. At first glance, the prices seem normal, compared to other cafes in the area. But the thing about S'Mug is that their sizes are bigger - my impression is that a "small" coffee at S'Mug would be considered "medium" in most other Glasgow West-End cafes. And it's very good coffee too - so great value for money. They have a large menu, so there is a lot of choice as to drinks. As for food, they have good toasties and good croissants, but I wasn't too impressed with their sandwiches. So I'd say it's an ideal place for a coffee and something sweet, but less so for lunch. Overall though, S'Mug is a lovely cafe.

I popped in one early evening - I like to support the local option (rather than a big name chain) where I can. There was one young man working there. In terms of speed, he seemed to be doing the best that he could - but it was slow service. The "sorry for delay" that came with my simple food request was probably the most insincere version I've heard - or maybe he realized that it wasn't good enough to say sorry. It wasn't really busy but he seemed to struggle a bit and never smiled once to any customer - under too much pressure, bad day or in the wrong job. The food was OK (my order was not complicated) and as I finished it I wondered why I'd bothered going there. No atmosphere, nothing great to offer and poor service. Nothing to be s'mug about. My experience was quite different to the that of the other reviewer - so maybe I was unlucky. Still, probably Starbucks next time.

Great wee gem in the heart of the west end - the perfect place to head when you're wanting to get inside from the cold. Nice selection of food, great range of coffee choices and welcoming staff make this a west end favourite.

I was visiting the Riverside museum with my four-year-old son and I just wanted somewhere to sit and have a bite to eat. The staff were very helpful and friendly I got a bacon roll which was just right and a nice cup of tea. My son had some toast and butter along with some snacks from home. The view of the tall ship is really the best part of the cafe although I was pleasantly surprised to see they do serve alcohol during the lunch service. I've included pictures of the menu to help others.

A great location and full of goodies you would not find at weight watchers! Went for two lattes with sides of vic sponge and a Bakewell tart. Thought the tart was a little too wet. Coffees were fine, but what makes me quite cross is when you get dirty cutlery. Photo attached. The detail separates the amateurs from the professionals.

Very disappointed and confused as to when this tea room is actually open until. It seems to be whatever mood they’re in. When you Google it says they close at 5:30 on a Thursday and on trip advisor, open until 6:30 on Thursdays. I was with 1 friend and along with 6 other possible customers we proceeded up the stairs at 5:05 to be told they were closing early today? Was it just that day or in general when open until 5:30 they close at 5:05? We said we only wanted a cup of tea no food and would be done by 5:30 but not interested. If you go into a shop or supermarket that closes at 5:30 they are open to 5:30 not 5:05 very unusual managing of a business.

I have got to be totally honest here. The staff were absolutely fantastic 11/10 but the food was inedible. I mean really bad. The chicken burger although it was very big....was bad. Funny texture.....one of the worst I've had anywhere. The curry was very bland and watery. The steak pie thing was.....I actually doesn't know what to say......I'll stick to real...bad. Absolutely go for the alcohol as they do good offers and it's cheap. The staff honestly just couldn't have been better. Also brilliant with dogs. For food I just couldn't ever recommend.....so so soooooo unfortunate :( x
