Smokings Kitchen in Kingston upon Thames

Will never ever recommend this place to anyone. I have had Food poisoning from this place a couple days ago and i’m still facing symptoms as i type this out. When i went into the shop recently you can’t find any of the FOOD HYGIENE RATING ANYWHERE had to go on Google and search it up myself and it said it was a 3 bare in mind i found this out after i ate the food i was extremely annoyed, i’m now dealing with consistent diarrhoea stomach pains and all sorts will like to also add that the service is extremely bad bad customer service.

Food here is good. The rice n peas is really good aswell as the jerk chicken. Festival nice n sweet (a little overdone but still good). Overall I’d rate here a 7.5/10.

Got there just as they opened had to wait for the rice and peas but boy was it worth the wait!, honestly the best curry goat I’ve never had you could literally pull the bone out with no effort.

What can I say first and last. Just finished a long day at work and thought I treat myself ordered curried goat it took like 15-20 paid £12.95 ok no problem got home the portion size was soo low they must of gave me the bottom scraps cause that was a dry curried goat was super salty and didn't evern fill me up you go oochi in shepherd bush they sort you out with good portions and it's cheaper and tastes good so no I don't think I'll be coming here again thank you

Normally I don’t leave reviews. But after ordering the curry goat with white rice + Mac n cheese + plantain I just had from smokings kitchen Kingston - It was only right for me to leave a positive review. I’m normally skeptical when it comes to trying out new places for Caribbean food as I grew up on authentic Caribbean food. However I must say this was the real deal. The meat was tender and full of flavour, the plantain was firm and crisp not gooey, and the Mac and cheese was perfectly flavoured and had a amazing texture. Anyone visiting Kingston Upon Thames or Southwest London - I highly recommend you pop by Smokings Kitchen for a true Caribbean Dining Experience.

Anyone know what’s happened and if this place is still open. Tried calling and the number is dead and they no longer come up on Just Eat anymore.

Visited on a Friday and wanted fish but there was none. Ordered something else and while waiting, had to listen to filthy music. A lady and a young girl were there and assuming they could understand the lyrics, I am surprised that the lady did not swiftly remove the young girl from the premises. My hope is that they could not understand the lyrics. I certainly could and don't plan visiting again.

Yet again canceled my order!! Never left a bad review which seems to be the on going issue! Ordered my family's meal two of us lol waited 15 mins to then find out they cancelled the order on Uber which if I didn't have my phone in my hand I would have not seen!!!!! Starving!!!!!!! Fuming if you cannot handle the demand of being part of delivery sites step down and stay as a restaurant 😤

I would say that they serve one of the BEST Jerk Chicken in London, period. But I am giving 4 stars because of the environment. And I will just leave it at that lol

My friend and I came here a few weeks ago, we hadn’t seen each other in years and it turned out to be the perfect place for us to catch up. The owner was super friendly and went above and beyond to look after us. The food is absolutely incredible and just hits the spot every time. Thank you!

Honestly I was surprised with the quality of the curry goat and customer service experience. For years I’ve been going to True flavours in Brixton but this company set a high standards for me when it comes to Caribbean food. The gave me a good portion plus the meet was seasoned well with good decoration/presentation, the container was very good, they used expensive and good quality rice and meet. Great customer and didn’t witness the typical rude attitude. Thank you

I don’t normally leave bad reviews but this is the second time I try to order from this place and have an awful experience! First time they cancelled part of the order, they were going to just send us the sides because they were out of meat. Lady was annoyed that I called to ask for clarification and decided to cancel the order. Second attempt ended with us waiting an hour and a half just to receive a cancellation notification from their part. Never again!

As a Caribbean national who is currently disappointed by Caribbean food and service in London, this restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. The food was fairly authentic and well-presented for a reasonable price, and delivered on time without any calls to say "sorry, we no longer have the ...". Definitely will support their restaurant again :)

Can't really comment on the food as never got to taste it. Ordered on three different occasions and all of them cancelled last minute with no reason given after 40-50 minutes wait. No one ever answers the phone. Horrendous customer service. What a waste of time

Nice food and good tunes with a drink while you wait

Have ordered from here an embarrassing amount of times 😂 I’m a really good home cook (modest) and am normally always disappointed by food cooked by most other people. Lack of love, lack of seasoning, lack of passion. This place though, is another level. I was sure someone’s grandma was making all the food because it’s flavoured, cooked and seasoned with the love of someone who’s been doing it for decades and decades. The portions are large. Nothing is greasy. The jerk chicken is in its own league. Prawn starters just beyond fresh and in the crunchiest of coatings. Rice and peas perfectly seasoned and without too strong a hint of sweetness (my personal preference). I could go on but you get my point 😊 Really deserving owner who actually cares about the produce he’s buying and making for customers.

Staff unhelpful and dismissive of voucher for homeless meal.

This is a restaurant in my local area that I had been crying out for many years. (as a frequent eater of many Caribbean cuisines). I’ve lived in this area that unfortunately never provided any of these cuisines and their authentic flavours. I have eaten from Smokings Kitchen many times since they opened and I’ve enjoyed a fair amount of their menu. I will only discuss my recent outing in this review. Smokings Kitchen offers a variety of Jamaican meals and food options to eat. All made with care and great attention to assure maximum flavour and surprisingly large portions. The boneless jerk meal hits all the flavour and spice marks and paired with their side dishes such as fried plantains and coleslaw - it really is a mouthwatering meal. Their jerk wrap is packed full of flavour with their incredible jerk sauce being the main flavour component. Their side dishes are just as you expect from a Jamaican restaurant, they’re well made and really fair with their portion sizes for each item so you get value for your money. In store they offer a variety of their branded snacks and drinks AND they serve alcoholic drinks as an option for those looking for a fun dining experience. My only negative with the restaurant is that for some reason it is more expensive to order in store than using Uber eats. I find that to be a problem because you end up using the Uber eats app and selecting the free collection. For example the meal I had was £44.35 in total on Uber eats but in store it was £46.90. And the Uber eats options is not always available because they’re still a small establishment in the area. If I were you I’d make sure to check if ordering on Uber eats is available before going in store to save just a little bit. However, I highly recommend everyone check this place out. I personally can’t praise them high enough for the quality of food every time I’ve eaten their food and I hope you enjoy it the same way too.

Absolutely shocking. I placed order via just eat and Uber eats only for orders to be cancelled last minute. Even drove down to the shop to see if I could place order but I was told they weren’t open despite website saying they open at 3pm. No customer service whatsoever. Spend your money elsewhere that deserves it not these lot.

Ordered using the app and drove a long way becuase I like the food i have eaten here alot and the food iv tried is really nice and never had any problems until today not with the food taste but the customer service the order was cancelled on the app when I was already half way there so had phoned them and ordered the same food, its 20 percent off on the app which I is why I used it as I find it a little over priced and when I got there they tried to charge me the full amount £55. The lady on the phone has attitude and is not very welcoming, arrived to collect my food and said Im only paying what the app says which was £37 as she tried to make an excuse about the app not working which shouldn't be my problem or is relevant. in the end she asked me how much I had I said £40 or i leave the food she said she would accept the money this time but next time it will be full price I said okay thanks so I thought despite the attitude problem and excuses they have amended the situation I then arrive home to notice that I'm missing a whole main and a side didn't bother calling as I'm far away but very disappointed as I bought the food for a family dinner as I know the food is nice but basically paid full price on an order where I did not receive everything on it.

First time to this restaurant and must say the food is amazing especially the jerk chicken i will defo be going back there. Ps. The staff are very nice too. See you soon guys

I attempted to order via the recommended App. Upon arrival i was Informed that my order wasn't processed and asked to order again. I looked at menu again and ordered the same as I had tried to order 20 mins before. The prices on menu weren't same as on the app which showed not keeping upto date information. Upon ordering the price was a additional £1 from the menu price and a few pounds more than I had expected to pay upon making my original order Not the best First impression as a potential new customer. Food was nice but not Great

Shocking. Absolutely SHOCKING. We was regulars at this place until the management changed into the new team of so called degenerates. We ordered Jerk chicken and rice and received no rice. The owner told me that it’s normal to order jerk on its own without any sympathy. Poor customer service…poor attitude…. Typical of the culture

I've ordered from here twice, the portions are a good size but, lacking in depth of flavour. The curry goat is a 3/10 and the jerk chicken about the same. Maybe they use packet seasoning diluted down with no scotch bonnet when cooking. I won't be going back, Jerk and serve in Chessington are much better if you're looking for authentic Jamaican food.

My ultimate favourite authentic Jamaican food in the area. I travel 30 mins by car to taste this amazing food. I always over order so I have left overs. The boneless jerk chicken is a good touch. Just means I'm not battling with bones.

Ordered from UberEats. -Jerk chicken was really delicious, Smokey and spicy! -Oxtail was nice but a bit too salty. -Fried dumpling was excellent. Good value. It tastes special as it has cinnamon flavor in it! Overall we liked the food quite a lot. :)

So dissapointed ordered food regularly from here as its the only jerk chicken place I know of near me. Easily spent 30 pound plus every 2 weeks here. Usually when I work in London I have 2 choices of places to go to. And this place was as good as I found to them albeit slightly more expensive. They followed food instructions well. Always added any extras I asked for without charge. The chicken was sometimes slightly hard though. But the food was delicious. Until I went in to collect an order. And the women was dismissive, rude, aggresive and had no interest in my custom. Lucky I had made the order online and the food was ready otherwise I don't think she wanted to serve me. Now the food was good, but the not good enough to receive that level of customer service. I have not gone here since. I haven't come across an environment like that in a long time. Really uncomfortable and odd environment. Not sure if everyone is welcome here based on my experience.

Top authentic afro Caribbean cuisine

Before you say why didn’t I cook I just had a baby a few days ago I am a very good cook but I thought I would try out your restaurant I was better off going to wing stop. The most nastiest food I have e ever brought I paid £11.95 for re lamb chops and the smallest amount of rice the food was cold and tasted disgusting I am from Jamaica and would never eat from here again I can’t even rate this place everyone saying this is nice food and what not are lying they have not had real Jamaican food and instead of cussing people that have an opinion on how the food taste why don’t you clean your chicken it had loads of fat on it and the veins was still there🤮🤮🤮

I took my 2 Jamaican girls for a taste of authentic Caribbean food on Sat 9th Oct 2021 and we all said that we will come back which is a great compliment. Jason and his staff were excellent hosts. The only criticism which is constructive is to take it up a notch or 2 to compliment flavour and spice on a few favourite dishes. Suggest a new dish of the month from one of Jason's Grandmother's secret recipe's but, only if the Kingston locals are ready for it 😉. The bottle of scotch bonnet hot pepper sauce to take away is awesome. Keep doing what you're doing Jason. One love.

Just don't! I decided to give this a SECOND try but it was not necessary. Not only is the food salty, it has no authentic Jamaican flavour. My first review was contructive providing customer improvement suggestion but the business owner is not experienced enough for such therefore this time I'm just calling it as it is, bad food not to mention Jamaican. Before the owner/manager or whom ever checking customer reviews responds to say why didn't I cook at my yard as per your initial unprofessional response, I needed something quick at the end of a busy day (you know, why businesses like yours exists) and thought i'd give you another try to prove yourself... wasn't needed as you definitely have consistency in bad tasting food checked ✔ The saddest and most confusing part is seeing people say that this is good food... clearly a 'Caribbean Taste Health and Safety' company needs establishing... your welcome! Or you could just invest in a Caribbean chef that can actually cook accordingly 🤔

Ate here last night with the family. Excellent hot food & beer was nice & cold. Very friendly staff. Bought a bottle of the Scotch Bonnet sauce! Would highly recommend.

Orded a 'magic box' from 'too good to go' app, to pick up at closing time (which is supposed to be food of a value of at least £13, but as it is supposed to be surplus or out of date the following day it is £4:50)... I was given x1 small container of rice, peas and some tasteless chicken which should be priced around £5-£7. So all in all a complete waste of time and clearly they are not using the app the way it is supposed to be used. Will never return. UPDATE : Your response confims that you are not using the app as it is supposed to be used, thankfully they gave us a full refund and sooner or later will probably kick you off their platform.

Smokings Kitchen is absolutely AMAZING mouthwatering dishes with large portions and worth every single penny. People listen up u simply must try Smoking Kitchen. Today I treated my family who live in New Malden and we had such a wide variety of this lushes food. The Oxtail is to die for and the curry goat and jerk chicken melts in your mouth. Its been a long time since I have tasted carribean food like this. I have told my daughter this will be a regular meal when I visit from Chelsea. Amazing Guys Simply Amazing Thankyou So Much xxxx

Very disappointed this really is not authentic Caribbean food service not that great either Rice was dry and old curry goat portion was tiny it was way too salty jerk chicken was just smothered in sauce the chicken was dry and I’m sure it hadn’t had any marinating at all it was plain and bland once you got through the sauce and skin all in all I had better from this place before but it’s gone way down in my estimation and I will not return I rather go spend my money on KFC and thats scraping the barrel in the bin it goes

Fantastic food, great atmosphere and extremely friendly Staff. All the favourites from the Caribbean are made with love and to perfection. Their Jerk marinade is only lightly spicy so if you like a kick you may want to ask for some Hot Sauce.

Not a huge amount of sit down space but the staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered a range of different dishes from the menu. All were delicious. One of our party is Bajan, and normally critical of Carribbean restaurant food. While it wasn't as good as her mother's cooking (what could be?), she loved it. No better recommendation. Superb.

They posted on an app called 'TooGoodToGo' for food, which was initially worth £13 to be reduced to £4.50. When we bought this, we found that the dish, which was a chicken leg and some plain rice, tasted horrible (this was food that was not even worth £3). DON'T FALL FOR IT!!

Staff are OK but for this restaurant to be worthy of hanging a Jamaican flag and advertising Jamaican food, they need a decent Jamaican chef. If it is caribbean or Jamaican food you are after, I would not recommend it. Improvements are necessary to master the menu for this cuisine. Consider hiring a suitable chef and I will be back along with the crowd

I ordered fried dumplings, oxtails and bean with rice and peas and the sweet chilli chicken wings. These were simply amazing 😊. So glad that I now have a tasty Caribbean restaurant near me. Would definitely recommend.

The food here is superb, absolutely wonderful. The food alone would get 6 stars . However, the reliability of availability is utterly shocking. The amount of cancelled orders through Just Eat or the times they suddenly don't take orders is embarrassing for a business. Good Jerk is hard to find and when the logistics side doesn’t have their ducks in a row it will probably mean that the business will inevitability fail. A real shame.

I went to the Smokin Kitchen restaurant what a horrible experience it was from the moment I walked in the oven or was drinking rum slaughtering the staff were barely dressed when the food eventually came it was cold it had hair in it and the portion size was ridiculously small very very salty and taste the MSG not my kind of restaurant if he like this good for you. I would recommend this for free

A true hidden gem, I could easily rate this as one of best chicken places in London (having been to many) - true soul food here. The jerk chicken is always perfectly cooked and the portions are more than generous! This now my usual order on uber eats.

I had a great experience when I came in with my friends we had the curry goat, wings and dumplings. I thought the food was incredible and the customer service was great. I got the food relatively soon and I will definitely be back.

I went in for some food from Too Good to Go - I received one box of curried goat and rice (bit underwhelming because it should have come to the equivalent of £14) - nevertheless, the food here is excellent, they don't cut corners and the atmosphere here is great. Next time, I'll be there as a normal paying customer! A real hidden gem for new new malden/Kingston!

Food was amazing but the meal was ruined by the terrible customer service by the waiter. I would recommended they learn basic hospitality. The chef was polite but the waiter all but ruined our meal.
