Smokin' Billy's in Reading

Pensé en darle otra oportunidad, pero desafortunadamente aún luchas constantes, cobraron 8-10 entradas, una operación mal administrada con tendencia frecuente a la violencia (¡a veces de las personas que trabajan allí!)

Visitamos este pub por la mañana y pasamos un tiempo agradable con amigos hasta que alguien nos atacó, la seguridad ni siquiera revisó lo que sucedió y nos juzgó y echó. Intentamos obtener cualquier tipo de apoyo, pedimos seguridad y el propietario llamó a la policía, sin embargo, se negaron a ayudarnos. Lamentablemente, nadie se ocupó de 'los atacantes' y los dejó salir por la salida trasera. Nos atacaron de nuevo en nuestro camino a casa. Gracias Smokin Billy's por darnos la 'oportunidad' de pasar 5 horas en el Hospital Berkshire.

Fuimos a Smokin 'Billy's como sede de Pint of Science y decidimos comer de antemano. Tuve hamburguesa frita del sur y batatas fritas. Mucha variedad de hamburguesas y me encantaría volver y probar el resto del menú. Todo recién hecho y realmente disfruté de la ensalada de col. El personal era muy amable y servicial. Definitivamente recomendaría una visita.

He tenido la oportunidad de disfrutar de muchas, muchas comidas de hamburguesas en mis 55 años y honestamente puedo decir que esta fue la mejor con diferencia. ¿Por qué? La hamburguesa era hecha a mano y sabía a carbón. El acompañamiento de la cebolla roja fue absolutamente delicioso, al igual que la ensalada de col, que fue una sorpresa: AMO la ensalada de col y la preparo en casa y sé que no es tan fácil preparar una buena sin una preparación considerable. Fue precioso Rico y REALMENTE sabroso. Las papas fritas también eran muy buenas, cortadas finamente a partir de una papa real completa con su piel, con la consistencia correcta, suave por dentro y ligeramente crujiente por fuera; tenían un gran sabor. El servicio era amable y eficiente. Mis felicitaciones - ¡Realmente me hiciste sonreír hoy! No puedo esperar a volver con el resto de mi familia.

Mi esposa y mi buena esposa estábamos hambrientas después de derretir las compras de las tarjetas de débito. Ella había visto este lugar el otro día y dijo que deberíamos intentarlo. Entré a la mitad del lugar vacío, lo que era una ventaja real ya que había tenido suficiente de personas ese día. El menú era un conjunto de 20 que me pareció muy razonable. Sin embargo, la camarera dijo que si solo queremos ciertos artículos, ¡ella solo nos cobrará por eso! Bonus ya que realmente necesitaba una hamburguesa. Buena elección de cervezas y luego un artista en vivo y su guitarra en acción. . . . . . . . Pasamos una buena noche cantando melodías que conocimos y canciones chrimbo y todo. La hamburguesa era fantástica, un verdadero sabor a ahumado y la ensalada del lado era cremosa para contrarrestar el humo. Buen trabajo muchachos

We ordered the “BBQ ribs, chicken & pulled pork” from the menu and we only got the BBQ ribs - a bit disappointed but they were delicious!

a lovely lay out great chilled place was able to play ping pong while waiting for our food also a football table and juck box polite staff and very good priced food when the food arrived it was a large portion and tasted amazing will be going back again with out doubt

This was our first visit to Smoking Billy's and a pleasant surprise. We heard that a charity comedy show was on and thought it may be worth a try. We booked but at 7pm on a Friday not necessary. I guess this place gets going a lot later with the 4.30 am closing. Staff were friendly and welcoming and food was good.

I have been to this restaurant a few times now and do enjoy it as the quality and value are pretty good. Not amazingly so but perfectly fine. The decoration is OK with lit-up guitars, lava lambs and other strange things dotted around. For some reason it doesn't quite gel and lacks the vibe of a hardrock or TGI. Strangely every time I have been here 8-9pm, the restaurant is almost completely empty, which really hurts the atmosphere. I am puzzled as to why asking for extra BBQ sauce is an additional charge, but they do offer standard sauces and a selection of excellent relishes, which are free. The food quality is perfectly fine for a BBQ restaurant and the sharing platters are particularly good as you get a good variety of food on a huge plate. You also get very good portions so I would say that you get pretty good value. In summary, this is a good BBQ restaurant where you can get expect to be well fed. This is not my first choice of this type of restaurant but is a good second.

I note some comments about bouncers and late night access and can’t comment on that. But if you go to eat early in the evening when these problems have not manifested then you get great treatment, very good food and value for money. Couldn’t fault our meal. Very enjoyable.

So- if you're not good looking you're not allowed in. We had a night out for two hours before walking up to Smokin' Billy's. I have been a barmaid for ten years and know that if you're intoxicated you are denied entry in to a bar. Ergo, me and my partner deliberately stayed sober for my birthday to be allowed entry. Upon entry we see a group of around 21 year olds denied entry (not drunk), we then attempt to gain entry and are again refused entry. Apparently my partner cannot 'stand up straight'. (She has only had three single vodkas at this point). Bill (the owner) is stood outside at this point 'backing [his] bouncers decision making'. "Maybe if we have a coffee and come back we'll be ok" Coffee at 1:30am? He's clocked us, doesn't mine the look of us, despite working there, bringing custom and money for ten years. Good bye Bill.

A couple of years ago this was one of those places where you would go at the end of an evening after a few drinks, wouldn't even do that anymore. Entry normally starts at £5 and can go up to £10! You then enter into a dark and dreary venue where you get rudely 'welcomed' by the manager who has a face like a slapped backside and mouth to match. With so much competition you're better off going somewhere else - coconut bar is an amazing options, free entry, polite management and it's just next door!

We ordered coke when we sat down got told it was Pepsi. Drank it and it wasn't even rola cola quality. Stood up. Left.

Went with friends last night after having some drinks near by. Got seated and served in minutes. We had the £16 per person meal all ribs,chicken, chips, beans, coleslaw, wings so much food all tasted lovely.

I've eaten and drunk here a few times now and I think it's great. Food is good and we'll priced. A great selection of beers and I've heard there's cocktails upstairs aswel. The staff are amazing and go well out their way to help you out.

Highly recommend venue. Seemed to be a family run business. Went as part of a works Christmas party. Pre drinks, food, music set and karaoke. The staff were polite, friendly and very accommodating. The set menu was a little uninspiring but would love to return to try the BBQ dishes that I'm sure they're well known for. Excellent night.

We had a table booked for a friend's birthday and we had a fantastic time together but there was definitely room for improvement on behalf of the venue.

I came here on a Friday night to meet some friends. Entry was £7!! (Most expensive in Reading) and the drinks were really overpriced for what it is.

Cold food, taste like it we made the day before. Dark can't even see what's going on. Bad atmosphere

What a fantastic evening out for a lovely work leaving do. We met Billy himself and he praised us for our hard work at the hospital. Food was excellent. So yummy. Great deal on a Friday night... Half rack of bbq ribs, chips, coleslaw, corn on cob and onion rings... And for pudding yummy strawberry cheesecake... £10.95 for the two courses!!! Great value and delicious. Going again for my birthday!! Thanks Billy and staff.

Much like the offside rule or quantum physics, I'm stumped to explain this restaurant. A group of 8 of us visited on a Saturday evening and found this beautifully decorated BBQ restaurant (guitars on the wall, Marilyn Monroe statue, juke box etc) absolutely dead. There were only 2 other diners inside.

Under new ownership the sharer combos are enormous and well worth the money. Very friendly and with good service - a great place for a party!
