Da Village is absolutely amazing! The kebab was incredibly soft, and the naan was massive so fresh and fluffy. The curries were packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. A big thank you to the young lady who served us with such warmth and professionalism. You made the experience even better. Highly recommend!

It seems the chef has been changed the food became disgusting 🤮 it was a bad experience yesterday, I don’t advise anyone to go there. The owner should return either the ex chef or find another good chef.

Best afgahni restaurant in Reading. You can’t find lamb karahi better than this anywhere else. Chapli kebab and other grill items are really good as well. The staff is very friendly and great atmosphere. Ample seating space, nice and clean. Reasonably priced as well. Easy recommendation 10/10

I highly recommend trying authentic Afghani cuisine. The dishes are fresh, delicious, and served with a smile. The restaurant is not overcrowded, and the staff is friendly. The food is flavorful, portions are generous, and made with traditional spices. The tables are clean and the decor is pleasant. This was my 6th visit, and I will definitely be coming back again. I highly recommend giving it a try.

We had an amazing dining experience at Da Village Afghan Restaurant, and I cannot recommend it enough! We ordered their **Half Kg Lamb Karahi, Half Kg Chicken Karahi, Chicken Mix Kebab, Lamb Chops, Kabuli Pulao Rice, Afghani Aubergine, 2 Afghani Naan, and a Large Bottle of Drink**, which serves up to 6 people, and it was absolutely fantastic. The **Lamb Karahi** and **Chicken Karahi** were bursting with flavor, perfectly spiced, and cooked to tender perfection. The **Chicken Mix Kebab** and **Lamb Chops** were grilled to perfection, juicy, and full of authentic Afghan flavors. The highlight for me was the **Kabuli Pulao Rice**, with its rich, aromatic taste and the delightful topping of raisins and carrots—it was truly a showstopper. The **Afghani Aubergine** was a unique and flavorful side dish that paired wonderfully with the freshly baked **Afghani Naan**, which was soft and fluffy. The portion sizes were generous, and everything was served hot and fresh. The ambiance of the restaurant, combined with the exceptional service, made the meal even more enjoyable. Whether you’re looking for authentic Afghan cuisine or a hearty meal to share with family and friends, this restaurant is a must-visit. This is my 5th visit today and I ordered lamb kebab, naan , and aubergine. I just love the way they serve and the feeling of eating earthy and soul full dish.

Mutton karahi was really nice. So was kabuli pulao. However could do better with some sweets menu - overall good experience and would like to visit again

Every single dish I have tried here has been amazing and I have brought many of my friends there and they all loved it as well. The staff here are always so welcoming and friendly, and the make the whole experience that much more better. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is considering coming to eat here. One of the best!

May be just the food we ordered. Both chicken and lamb briyani were worse. The rice felt a bit undercooked. Had literally hundreds of whole spices (peppercorns, elachi, lavang, etc) per plate. The sauce given did not go well with Briyani as such. The chicken pieces felt very chewy as if just taken off the freezer and cooked. The lamb was very dry and black roasted but in my plate I only had about 5 pieces and all are simply the bones. For the money they charge which was £10 for Lamb and £9.xx for Chicken Briyani. I would not recommend it. As they did not care what is being served is under quality meat, less edible meat on the plate. Chicken Briyani though meat was badly cooked it had way too many pieces. So unfortunately based on what I ordered I can't recommend this place. But the ladies who served us were very polite and nice. And place is clean as well. It's just the food they have to improve.

last night I am visiting this place with my family. reception lady was very rude, she was very busy with her mobile. we wasn't welcome there at all. whole restaurant was empty not a single person accept us, I am totally understand why restaurant was empty there service is very poor.

Delicious food and great service. Beautiful restaurant. We have tried mix grill, chapli kebab and grilled chicken.

The food was delicious, especially namak mandi lamb karahi.

We went on a Saturday evening and ordered the whole grilled chicken x 2, initially it wasn't cooked through so we sent it back. We then found that there was little seasoning on the chicken and as a result it tasted rather bland, also the tomatoes in the salad were not fresh and a were of a mushy consistancy which wasn't satisfactory this ruined our dining experience. Our server was polite and very pleasant. Unfortunately the food just didn't deliver ! We are of Asian origin so know our food having dined in many establishments. We would not recommend this place based on our experience.

Fall off the bone lamb shank with Kabuli Pilau rice is something out of this world 🙆🏻‍♂️🔥it’s a must try 💯 The Mantu was mouthwatering 🤤 The Chicken Karahi was flavourful 😋👌🏽 Also can’t beat the fresh baked naan 🤏🏽 Great food, great service and competitive prices! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 This takes a spot in the top 5 places to eat in Reading for sure. I've always been a fan of ordering online from Da Village , but decided to try dining in with my wife and child. Unfortunately, this experience has left me disappointed. The lamb chops, lamb curry, rice and naan bread were all enjoyable. However, the grilled chicken was a major letdown. The smell and taste were off-putting, and it completely ruined the meal. We decided to take some of the food home to finish later, as the poor quality of the chicken made it difficult to enjoy. When we requested two containers, we were surprised to be charged £1 for each. This seems excessive, especially considering the cost of the meal. It's a disappointing addition to the bill, especially when you're already paying for a subpar experience. I'm sorry to say that I won't be returning to Da Village. There are plenty of other great options in the area, like Kobeda Palace, that offer better value, quality and don’t charge to take leftovers away.

Just the right spice and authentic

I had an amazing experience at this Afghan restaurant! The half grilled chicken with rice was delicious—tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The garlic naan was fresh and soft, adding just the right touch to the meal. The food was authentic, and the service was outstanding. The lady working there was so friendly and hardworking, making the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be back!

Amazing food, lovely service, spacious and decent price

The chicken was very very burnt, the staff were extremely rude and were talking/whispering in their own language while looking at me, I felt uncomfortable and unfortunately it was too late to cancel my order as I had already paid

The food is 10 out of 10 the service: waitress should be a little bit more polite and keep check on the tables if we need anything.

Excellent desi food . Beautiful home made kharai. Ate every last bit . Limited choice of curry only had kharai but was delicious . They service mostly grilled meats . Will definitely come back if in the area .

I recently tried the grilled mixed meat platter. The platter included lamb chops , chicken wings, chicken & lamb shish. Ordered extra portion of chicken wings. While the flavours were decent, some of the meats were a bit dry and overcooked. Also lacked some seasoning. The accompanying sides of rice and salad were a good addition. However, the salad had no seasoning and was only enough for 1 person. There were no kids meal option, but had the option of ordering sides individually. So, ordered chicken nuggets and chips separately for my child. Nuggets were dry and small. The cutlery provided was quite flimsy and was bending, making it difficult to properly enjoy the meal. Stronger cutlery is essential when having mixed grilled meat. The service was okay, though it took a while for our food to arrive. Overall, the mixed meat platter was a mixed experience, some parts were enjoyable, but there’s room for improvement in terms of consistency and seasoning and better quality cutlery.

Best indian food I have tasted Best dish lamb karahi

Went to Da village with family for a birthday. The food was pretty poor. We ordered a few meat trays which consisted of rice topped with raisins and some meat pieces like seekh kebab, couple of chicken wings, chicken cubes and a load of lamb chops, in fact there were so many lamb chops on the trays it like it felt like there had been a lamb chop given away had been given to the restaurant! And the chops were so chewy and rock hard it felt like someone had fobbed us off with mutton chops. We ordered a couple of currys such as chicken and lamb with few large naan which I'm sure would've been nice if the currys and naan were provided at the same time. Unfortunately the naan were provided 10 mins earlier than the currys arrived by which time the naan had gone cold. Also the curry felt like reminisce of the BP Deepwater oil spill where a whole 1l of oil had leaked into the curry! It's not a busy place which showed as the quality of the food was a bit of a let down

First of all, to be honest, I didn't like the service, I wanted hamburger meat, I asked for hamburger sauce, I was told there was no hamburger, but other than that, I don't know what it was, extra drinks did not come, we went and bought it, I will never go again, do not recommend it to anyone.

Food is average. And didn't enjoy it to be fair. The pillow rice was cold. The lamb karabi was good, and we finished this. Lamb kebab was tasteless and we left it. The staff are nice.

A lovely traditional Afghan restaurant, with warm environment and amazing music played. It tells about what real Afghanistan is. A humble girl called Zinat was serving all customers nicely, and with her positive vibes and attitude, surely customers will come again to the place. By the way, her name is similar to an antibiotic called Zinnat, so she is the treatment of the place 🤓

Excellent lunch today in this Afghan restaurant on Reading’s Oxford Road. Lovely grilled lamb with naan, nicely spiced chicken namak mandahi, and Afghan aubergine dishes, served with dips and salad. Yogurt and mango lassi to drink. Service was polite and efficient this Tuesday lunchtime. Toilet facilities were clean. Good price (£40 for two). Will definitely return. Food was delicious!

Recommend traditional Afghani food. Fresh, tasty and served with a smile . We didn’t wait one, the atmosphere for a Saturday was nice , not busy or overrun. The food was tasty, large servings and freshly made with authentic spices . Clean tables and nice decor to suit, access to toilets and a wash basin next to the til to wash your hands . I’d definitely visit again. I’m impressed. We served by a lovely African waitress who ensured we were catered for.
