On Sunday we enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Smith’s in Wapping. This is a fish restaurant located on the river thames giving you an amazing view of tower bridge. When we arrived we were given a friendly welcome before being escorted to our table. Once settled our waiter Saulius presented us with the menu which was full of amazing sounding fish dishes. They also serve meat courses and a roast on a sunday. Starters (1) Steamed Scottish Venus Clams , garlic , shallots and chablis (2) Grilled Cornish Mackerel Fillet , fresh creamed horseradish , english watercress These dishes were absolute heaven and were being enjoyed with a bottle of Albarino. Mains (3) Guernsey Skate Meunière , sautéed samphire , brown shrimps , lemon buerre blanc (4) Baked Norwegian Halibut , tartare and parmesan crust , chablis cream sauce The cooking was absolutely perfect and definitely the best halibut dish I’ve ever had. Desserts (5) English Wye Valley Strawberries , clotted cream ice cream , butter shortbread (6) Caramelised Apple Tarte Tatin , vanilla ice cream The desserts were just a perfect way to finish a truly excellent lunch. Every dish was cooked to perfection. They have a very extensive menu so you could easily see why people return on a regular basis. This is definitely something I can see ourselves doing in the future. The service from the team is first class and nothing is too much trouble. My only disappointment was that I hadn’t been before but be rest assured it will not be long before we’re back. So without any doubt I would highly recommend a visit. I visited the restaurant on Saturday evening with my wife and 2 other couples. We had an early table and after our 2 hour slot we continued our evening at the bar. The food was excellent but not cheap. The service was good but waiters in the restaurant and bar area seemed to be on a selling mission much like an old school double glazing salesman!! The whole experience was marred by the fact that one of our party who is disabled had continuous issues accessing the disabled toilet facility. Normally these facilities are locked and require a special key to utilise them. This is not the case at Smiths. On 3 occasions my friend had to wait to access the toilet and on each occasion it was occupied by a member of staff. Obviously this was not acceptable and he requested to speak to the manager. The managers response left our party and other diners who were leaving the restaurant in complete disarray. He said the toilet was for everyone’s use and he should have been made aware of my friend’s disability. My friend had been in the restaurant for 4.5 hours in a wheelchair using the lift to access the restaurant from the bar and again on leaving the restaurant to return to the bar. The table for 6 people was set up with 5 chairs and a space for my friend in his wheelchair. I think the restaurant was well aware of the circumstances. The manager had a total disregard for my friends disability. There are lots of great restaurants in London so I suggest you think twice about visiting Smiths. If you check other reviews you will see other issues with the management here. Happy to take your £100 per head but not as happy dealing with situations. In the words of a band from the 80’s yazoo “DONT GO”!!!!

I had heard a lot about Smith’s so decided to book lunch for 9 of us to celebrate my 70th birthday. I was taken to a table by the window which is what I had requested. The service, quality of food and general ambience is second to none and I will definitely be returning soon. We had the lunch set menu but with lots of choices. The manager asked who was Greek? I said my late husband was half Greek and after a chat about Greek names, I was offered a bottle of champagne or wine on the house. This made my day really special and I cannot praise the Manager and Staff highly enough.

Service from start to finish was exceptional. Food was prepared and presented to the highest of standards. Wine glasses filled continually. Attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Nothing is too much trouble. Beautiful views across The Thames and of Tower Bridge.

Best food and service in London by far

Just outside the City boundaries- through St Katherine Docks is a gem of a fish restaurant. Great place, we were there for lunch. I couldn't fault it. Thank you Smiths.

Visited Smiths last night and it was fantastic from start to end.Mehmet was our waiter and was superb very friendly and knowledgeable he's an asset to the restaurant..Will definitely be revisting.

This is a special place. Privileged to dine here as frequently as we do. Dimitri goes above and beyond to ensure we are looked after in the best possible way. Food is always exceptional and has not changed over the 10 years we have been visiting. Simply the best.

Love this restaurant! These guys have got everything 'spot-on!' From service, (unbelievable service) to venue (overlooking the Thames with views of Tower Bridge) to choice of menu (excellent choice and quality of food). If you love seafood and want great service you will love Smiths of Wapping. In my opinion it is in the top 5 of seafood restaurants in London.

Arrived unaccompanied awaiting others in my party was made feel welcomed and comfortable. Food was excellent as was the service.

Fine dining experience, great meals the savoury is intergalactic

Have been twice recently, making special trips, once for a la carte lunch on a weekend and once for a weekday set menu for our anniversary. Delicious in every aspect with attentive but not obtrusive service, great cocktails and wine. As much care is given to the side dishes and honouring the freshness of the vegetables as to the fish cooking and the superb sauces.

Saturday night dinner at Smith’s in Wapping. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the maitre d, who showed us to our table. The waiter explained how to view the menus using a QR scanner. He was friendly and professional at all times. For starter I chose the Miso Glazed Black Cod, Beetroot, Sea Samphire, Yuzu, Sesame & Red Chilli Dressing. For main my selection being the Shetland Scallops Meuniere accompanied with Dauphinoise Potatoes. The food was cooked to perfection, the balance of flavours excellent, the presentation a feast for the eyes. It was served in a timely manner. The waiters remembering what we had ordered when serving. There is a good wine selection to complement the food. We chose the Chablis Premier Cru, Forêts, Louis Michel 2020, chilled perfectly, poured expertly. The restaurant is located next to the River Thames. As Sunset arrived, the lights of the City, with the Tower of London, and the Shard came to prominence providing fabulous views to the west of the restaurant. Their web site says ‘Smith’s of Wapping is a feast for the senses’ and this is so true. We will be returning.

Another fantastic lunch at Smith's for Father's Day. Faultless service & a delicious roast. I always usually have the fish here, but I decided to stick with tradition this time and plumped for roast lamb, which was excellent. Dessert was an Irish Creme brulee, which was sublime. Staff couldn't do more for us. We've been coming to Smith's for years and it never disappoints!

What a treasure this restaurant is. As well as 5-star food, service and river views, it's really good vfm too.

Took my daughter for her 30th birthday, The whole experience was wonderful, food fantastic, you must try the oysters the vinaigrette was amazing, the portions are genours so don't over order. My daughter said the expreso Martin was the best she has ever had, believe me this is a massive recommendation David Marshall

Had the most enjoyable lunch at Smith's. Dishes that stood out were the lobster, scallops, oysters, and the duo soft shell crab and jumbo prawns. All the food was amazing and very fresh. Went to this restaurant for my mrs birthday and it couldn’t have been better. The food was out of this world. Best seafood we have had plus the best service we have had. The attention to detail was absolutely amazing. Alex in particular was extremely attentive and friendly.

Listen, I consider myself a well-versed connoisseur of steak. I’ve had some amazing steaks throughout my life. But unfortunately, Smith’s has ruined all other steaks for me because they fed me the literal best steak I’ve ever had in my life, and it was so good, every other steak I’ve had tastes awful in retrospect. That’s how good it was. The steak was explosive with flavor as the chef successfully rendered the fat within the meat, giving it a luminous glisten, butter-like texture, and maximum savory sensation. The peppercorn sauce was a perfect pair as well. It was so buttery and not overly peppery like some peppercorn sauces. But that’s not even what impressed me the most — I avidly dislike seafood with a passion. I don’t even like lobster. But I tried my fiancée’s lobster and wow — I may have to re-evaluate some of my flavor preferences after trying that lobster. It was flavorful, tender, and incredibly fresh. The dessert was amazing, too. We had the raspberry sponge pudding and it tasted like an elevated Verona cookie. The raspberry was perfectly tart. The sponge, albeit ever so slightly dense, was incredibly moist and delicious. Their wine is also top notch! My only regret is that I don’t live in London to try their set menu!

I love smiths, I’ve been here so many times and have enjoyed everything I’ve ever ordered. The prawns in tomato and chilli sauce are to die for! And for dessert the chocolate melt in the middle cake and ice cream hits the spot every time! It’s a great place for date night or lunch with the girls!

Wonderful food. Some of the best seafood in London. Been coming here for years. But still asking you to look at menus on qr code is ridiculous. Especially for this price point. My family didn't even know there was an a la cart menu as well as specials. My partner didn't look at drinks qr menu so didn't notice cocktails It must be costing you a fortune in sales and it's just not good enough asking customers to put work in to look at 4 different menus on phone or tablet which you can only look at separately not at the same time Yesterday at 2pm I wanted to treat my mum. We were directed straight to food and asked what we wanted to eat. Sorry terrible service. We should of been asked what we wanted to drink first not hurried into ordering food. But this place is still amazing and I would return for wonderful food and beautiful view

I came here with two friends for a birthday celebration. The calamari I had for starters was by far the best I've ever had. It was so fresh and soft. I had skate middle for mains which had so much meat on it and was so tender. The waiters were extremely attentive and were on hand to recommend any wines or dishes for the table. The only criticism I have is the cloakroom. There was a lot of confusion as we left as to who's jacket was who's and it took them 10 minutes to find my friends coat.

As other reviewers have commented, portion sizes were too large. Would have preferred smaller portions and lower prices so that we could have sampled more from menu. £4.50 for pot of chamomile tea (tea bag, no leaves) and £4.50 for a poor latte was disappointing

Portions were a little on the large side and whilst I know this suits some diners, three out of four of my party couldn't finish their main courses. My preference would be to reduce the portion size to that which is more suitable for eating three courses and adjusting the pricing downwards accordingly.

My son took me for a belated Mother’s Day meal last night. Everything from the food, wine and service was amazing! Mehmet our waiter was so friendly and helpful.

A legendary restaurant with some of the best seafood I’ve ever had. The service was impeccable considering we were visiting on one of their busiest days of the year - Valentine’s Day. The set menu was exceptional. No lobster but we were blown away by each course being delicious and beautifully crafted. The cocktails were also expertly made. This is an expensive restaurant, but the quality is second to none. Highly recommend for a special occasion.

Just home from a lovely evening here celebrating my birthday. The food was amazing: oysters, sashimi, lobster..all huge portions. Prices are high but we feel it’s good value for money. View and ambience are lovely and romantic. But above I all wanted to mention our waiter, Alex, who was just the best, so attentive and professional and really made our evening.

I was taken here for my birthday from my wife as a gift. It's a fantastic place if you love seefood with a very wide choice to choose from. There is a small option if you don't like seafood too. The food is present very elegantly and tastes divine. Service was expectional and you are well looked after. Great views overlooking Thames.

Gorgeous restaurant. A little pricey but worth it for what you are getting! And makes it a “special occasion” venue for us.

It's a gem of a place. I'll not repeat other reviews on that. What I love most is the consistency of quality across the whole experience, which is _so_ hard to get right. But whatever they're doing to hit that, having been a dozen times now, is working so well. Many other restaurants could learn greatly from the team here. ----- If I could level only 1 note for consideration to the bar (which I'm happy to remove on the promise it's fixed): your glassware washing process leaves a residue at the bottom of the champagne glasses, which means crisply chilled and otherwise excellently bubbly goes flat in a few minutes. I've been often enough (and ordered enough of them) now to know it's not a one off; it'd be great if you could fix that. Outside of that; no notes. We'll be back regardless.

Went here for my wife's birthday celebration. Was amazing customer service from when we entered the restaurant. Impeccable service from the waiting staff, friendly, efficient and fantastic recommendations. This added to the overall experience and my wife was very happy with the choice of restaurant.
