Tapas style Indian. You need 3 plates and a side. Price was reasonable. Food was great and enough new choices for next time I’m back. Staff were nice and helpful. Will be back next time I’m in Glasgow.

On a short visit to Glasgow and so pleased to have found Green Gates. Absolutely delicious food especially the peshewari naan. A bit loud only because there was a party group. Service attentive without being pushy. Will definitely visit again and can highly recommend

We visited here last night after work for dinner, I have been wanting to try this place for a while now and just hadn’t got round to it. It definitely won’t be our last visit, the tapas is beautiful. So many options on the menu, looking forward to trying other dishes. Received some complimentary soup also, I’m not a fan of soup but this was incredible and definitely changed my mind. I would go back just to have the soup alone. As well as the food being perfect the waitress (Sunitra) who served us was also lovely, so warm and welcoming. Already planning our next visit!

Visited Green Gates for a midweek dinner & it was amazing in every way! The menu is huge and has such a good, interesting variety of dishes. The staff were incredibly attentive and lovely throughout our visit. I highly recommend this restaurant, particularly for the Chilli Fish Pakora!! If you're in Glasgow and craving an exceptional Indian dining experience, look no further than GREEN GATES, 285 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2 3HQ, a place that blends traditional Indian flavours with contemporary twists, all under the expert guidance of the talented head chef, Dila. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance envelops you with warmth and vibrancy. Whether you’re enjoying an intimate dinner or celebrating with friends, the atmosphere immediately sets the tone for an unforgettable culinary journey. The appetizers/tapas are nothing short of divine. We even got complimentary free soup…which was outstanding. Never tasted soup that good…ever! Vegetarian options are also a standout. The service here is attentive and friendly, with the staff always ready to guide you through the menu. The seamless combination of excellent service and unforgettable food makes for an exceptional overall dining experience. Dila’s food will make you want to return time and time again and will quickly become a must visit gem in Glasgow’s vibrant culinary scene. Highly recommended! 10/10!

Excellent food with a varied menu including tapas style dishes, classic curries and some contemporary fusion options like the halloumi pakora, so good! Lots of vegetarian options. The staff is attentive and very nice. Good range of cocktails too. I personally prefer the decor in their Merchant City restaurant, but this is also a convenient location near the city centre.

Had the strangest experience. After reading lots of reviews and speaking to friends we booked a table - me, my wife and our daughter for a special occasion. We arrived and were ignored for 5 minutes standing at the door, always fun. We were then sat at a table by a stressed looking guy. Waited 15 minutes, no chat, no menu, not even eye contact. So we left to go somewhere better. Am sure the food here is great - the people who did get served seemed happy and am sure they make good food. They just have no idea how to make people feel welcome when they are even a tiny bit busy. Never go here for a special occasion, only when you don’t mind terrible service.

WoW!! The food is amazing here! I visited the restaurant with my husband and friends on a Sunday, a few weeks ago. I normally don't bother doing reviews but l feel this place deserves one - for good reasons! I ordered the onion badgi as a starter, it was delicious. The shredded onion was fried to a crisp perfection in a light tasty batter. My main was an authentic land bhona with mushroom rice and garlic rice. The lamb was tender and juicy, flaking with a fork..... yummy! Will definitely make this a regular haunt if wanting a fantastic curry in Glasgow 😄

How I wanted to give them a positive review. They are deserving of it if your only prerequisite is that the food is lovely. And it was. There was little to complain about the food. Or even the staff interaction. They were pleasant. It was everything else that was the problem. The restaurant was quiet with only a few other diners so we were the biggest party of 16. We expect that service might be slower. But not deathly slow. 5.45. We arrived for a family members birthday and drink orders are taken. At approximately 6pm they take the order for starters. An odd way of doing it. But we’ll see how that pans out. 6.20. The starters begin to arrive. Not in any great haste. By the time the last person, who was the birthday boy got his starter almost everyone else has finished eating theirs. And then it unravels. Drink orders for the rest of the evening are chaotic. They get one drink at a time while others are waving to add theirs. At the same table. 7pm. I finally ask the question that my increasingly unsettled companions have been muttering for a while now. When are they going to take the mains order? He quickly whips out his notepad and starts writing them down. An hour passes. They deliver some spiced onions, presumably to deflect from the fact that the mains are still in the making. 7.45pm I enquire politely about our food as it’s been two hours since we arrived. He tells me it’s ready to come out. 25 minutes pass. A couple of my relatives have other places to be and trains to catch. They’re becoming nervous. 8.10pm. The mains begin to arrive. But with no coordination. Glasses are now empty. Cutlery has not been replaced. The mains come 2 at a time as if they’re coming off a conveyor belt. The naan and the rice are nowhere in sight. The mains continue to come over the course of another 15 minutes. Then a few rices arrive. Then 2 naans. Then some more rice. I’ve still not even had my main yet. Everybody else is now sharing their small rices and naans before some more arrive. By this point we don’t know if we’ve had everything else or not. But we’re past caring. I eat half a naan while waiting. 8.30. They ask me if I’m waiting on a curry. I’m waiting on a biryani. It is sent out five minutes later. On its own. I had also ordered some fries but they’re nowhere in sight. So I tuck into the biryani. Half way through it the biryani sauce arrives. Then when everyone else is finished and I’m on the last few mouthfuls the fries finally arrive. You can imagine the fear when they offered us the desert menu. Other issues included promising my cousin European options for the three people who can’t or don’t eat spicy food. They failed to provide that. The serving staff were patient because we were slowly becoming a bit tetchy and they never lost face with us. The food, erratic as it was is lovely but the service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. They refused to deduct anything for the poor service and even tried to conceal the previously paid £90 deposit from the bill so we were calculating it at a higher amount. They used the large table as an excuse. We were split into 3 tables along the wall and would have been happy to be taken as such. There were few other diners in so it’s a poor excuse for a four hour dining experience of 2 courses. And yes it was 9.40 before we managed to escape after even the bill seemed to be getting drafter in via Amazon next day prime. They didn’t seem to acknowledge the mess of the service. I did at one point ask if they were short staffed and was assured they were not. They gave two people a 20 percent off voucher for next time. Sorry guys. There won’t be a next time. As beautiful as your food was, it was massively distracted by how long we had to wait and how disjointed it was. I don’t know how you expected anyone to eat their main dish without the rice or cutlery. We’re not savages.

I came here to have dinner and ordered a butter chicken. After quite a long wait (about 20 minutes for one dish!) I was given a butter chicken that wasn’t very…buttery. This is NOT glassy central. Different owners, food is significantly worse. Service was good, but food was way overpriced and terrible. £4.50 for a tiny scoop of rice, literally 2 mouthfuls. Came when it was still glassy central, owners were passionate, cared about their food. Green gates just seems like a scammers, buying glassy central's reviews, increasing the price, and service terrible food. Why was the saag so sweet like candy? The only reason review is 2 stars is the complimentary espresso cups worth of soup they gave us at the start, which was ok. What a shame. Wish Glassy Central was still around, the food and owners were amazing then.

I had the pleasure of dining at Green Gates Sauchiehall Street, and it was a treat to my taste buds. I tried the South Indian Garlic Chilli King Prawn, which had the perfect balance of heat and flavor, the Chicken Tikka, which was tender and packed with spices, and even their Beef Burger, which was juicy and satisfying with a unique twist. While enjoying this incredible meal, I remembered I needed to send money back home. Using Remit Choice, I managed to complete the transaction quickly and without any hassle—all from my phone. I was dissatisfied and disappointed with our visit on Thurs, 24 Oct. Pleasant enough welcome, but downwards spiral afterwards. We shared a veg pakora starter, which was edible, but 'heavy'. I had the chicken tikka, which had a strange texture to it. Discovering a bone in what was supposedly pieces of chicken breast was the final straw. I described both problems to the waiter when he enquired why I left 80-90%of it. Wasn't bothered! Room was cold and atmosphere to match. Won't return.

In my experience one of the worst Indian places I’ve ever eaten at, no idea where the 4.7 rating is coming from. We were intrigued by the glowing reviews and decided to give it a try despite the odd, mismatched interior design and the fact that it’s located in a basement. As for the food, one of us ordered a standard meal that included a salad, which was quite ridiculous. The "salad" consisted of a few pieces of lettuce, some raw red onions, and a single slice of tomato - not even some dressing. The other person opted for the menu deal, but it really wasn’t worth it. The chicken tikka masala sauce was overwhelmingly sweet and didn't have any of the rich tomato flavor you’d expect. It tasted nothing like what we were hoping for. The dessert was also a joke: one sad scoop of cheap vanilla ice cream, without any sauce or whipped cream as shown in the pictures outside. The only good thing from all the food was the starter, the pakora was nice. Overall, a huge disappointment for us personally. We would never come back.

I visited 2 times in the restaurant during my Scotland trip. I totally found Indian base taste, nice service , cooperative staff, and familiar atmosphere. I would like to recommend this place want to taste Indian food.

Great restaurant and it's clear to see the owner takes great pride in his establishment. Love the decor and atmosphere, while the food is good and portions are huge. Great service too and friendly staff. Places like this are hard to find in Glasgow.

I don't get the hype with this pizza Been a few times as its convenient, price is descent and toppings are quite good. But, the base is just a watery mess. Doesn't make a difference what type of toppings. I assume it's the type of flour they use. Even when I asked for well done the result is the same. Dont think I will return anymore

Great value, well cooked, hearty fare. Friendly staff in a nice busy (with good reason) atmosphere. £35 a head for three courses each, 3 beers and a bottle of wine.
